A word from Gaucho Piccadilly
Tucked away in a little known side street off Piccadilly this Gaucho Restaurant provides a bit of the Pampas and Buenos Aires relocated to the heart of the West End. As you soon as you enter the restaurant the aroma of meat sizzling on the open grills hits you. As well as steak we do offer a selection of other dishes including fish, chicken, ceviche and vegetarian options.

At Gaucho we pride ourselves on the basic philosophy of provenance. To us this means authenticity, assurance and rigorous attention to obtain the finest quality ingredients at source. This dedication ensures that every time you visit us, you experience the true essence of Argentine cuisine. Its food, its wine, its culture and importantly the passion of its people.

Decked out in cowhide, mirrors and chandeliers we offer a full range of Argentine cuts of luxury beef, including the tender Bife de Lomo, aged for six to eight weeks and then flown in from Buenos Aires.

Enjoyed a business meal here on Wednesday evening this week with three other colleagues. Served by Christopher who was excellent throughout our time here. Explained the various steaks on offer and their textures/tastes. Ours were cooked to perfection and tasted really good. Nice selection of beers and wine. Would thoroughly recommend and easy to find off the lower end of Regent Street near Piccadilly Circus. Great ambience and buzz.

An excellent atmosphere for a birthday setting. Lovely decor and tasty food. Staff were very busy and we received minimum attention. Felt we paid a little too much. Sadly they had run out of birthday cake so received crumbs and a candle! All in we had a great time which is the most important thing.

Had a wonderful time at Gaucho celebrating my fiancée's birthday. The manager happily moved us after we had an isue with the spotlight directly over the table. He then proceeded to arrange a complimentary dessert for my fiancée. The waiter was attentive and very friendly... will definitely be returning!

Me and wife dined here before we went to the theatre. Food was fantastic and reasonable with the steaks we chose priced around the mid £20's. However be warned as the wine was very expensive with the cheapest bottle was over £35. All in all a great place to eat just same about the alcohol prices. 😄

We have dined at the Gaucho, Piccadilly on previous occasions and the food and service have always been very good. The only negative thing I would say is that the music they play is really awful and too loud in my opinion. I have complained about this at the restaurant but was told that they cant change the music and lots of people complain about it!

Went for a dinner with an old friend on a Thursday night. Got a table on the top floor, as requested. Very busy and our table was almost on top of our neighbours. So no room for private conversations. Trio of steaks were really perfect, but the sides and sauces a bit boring. Wine recommendation was great, and accompanied the meat in the best way. Our chocolate dessert with raspberry tasted only chocolate, and was too heavy. All in all, a nice encounter. ...but missed the details from last visit to make it perfect.

The food was amazing although the side dish portions were small and served lukewarm rather than hot. The service was not brilliant, although this night was very busy. The chateaubriand was not served with a sharper / carving knife, I had to ask and wait for one from the kitchen. I understand that ethos that the steaks don't need sharp knives but this was a large piece of meat and a sharper knife, or even better, to have it carved for us at the table would have been preferable. The waitress was friendly and quite knowledgeable about the steaks on offer although she was too familiar - calling clients 'sweetheart' and 'darling' was not appropriate for her age or the environment. The wine was excellent. The food was worth the cost.

Majority of the staff wrletr excellent and friendly but there was one staff member you slightly ruined our experience - not accepting the cheesy bread rolls were solid instead of soft and slow with bringing condiments and forgetting out jug of tap water (asked numerous times). He showed no interest whatsoever and only when we were leaving! Regardless the food is amazing and lives up to every expectation everytime we dine at gaucho.

We sat downstairs (I didn't know there was one!), which was dark and cosy, but I prefer the smartness of the upstairs restaurant). Pre-dinner drink service in the bar was a little slow, but not a huge problem as they held our table reservation for us whilst we finished our drinks. This is a warm buzzy place to meet friends, with no rush to leave the table. Food is on the expensive side, but I think the atmosphere compensates.

Upon our arrival at gauchos, I was shocked at how dark it is in the restaurant, not to mention it took about 45 mins for someone to come over and ask what we would like to drink by this time we'd had enough and decided to go to another restaurant.

Arrived on time, our table wasn't ready for us (like for everyone). We were kept waiting 30 min in a full area bar and 30 min again in the bar on third floor ! It is obviously a method to get you to buy drinks in the bar. Fortunately, the staff was helpful. We were finally seated on a good table. The food was thrown and we had to catch our plates ourselves as in a bad inn. The meat was good but not more. Wines are very over-priced. The chips with thyme were as good as those of fast food: very fat and without thyme but expensive ! It was my third time in Gaucho Picadilly but it was a disappointing experience. Then, it will be my last time. I let this place for undemanding customers...

Outstanding ambience, world class Argentine food and excellent service. That said, if you are expecting to go to "Gaucho" and feel like you were in the middle of Buenos Aires, Rosario, Cordoba, Mendoza, etc etc.... I'm afraid you are going to be disappointed. I was born and raised just across the river from Argentina (i.e. Uruguay) and was lucky enough to go to Argentina a number of times and have enjoyed many of their restaurants. The ambience in "Gaucho" is not like ANY of the restaurants I went in Argentina.

I love the atmosphere here - the décor is dark and glamorous, with low lighting and house music quietly playing in the background. The service is very slick and the food is reasonably priced considering the high quality. Great wine list. I went with my parents on a Sunday night and it was completely full, but the tables are perfectly spaced so that you can have a private and relaxed meal. It's a really luxurious experience and I will definitely be back soon!

We booked a table for 9:45pm for 2. We were greeted at the reception and told that we could have a drink at the bar while the table was being prepared. I had to go to the reception twice and ask when we will be seated and 45 minutes later at 10:30 we were finally seated. When our food arrived was such a disappointment. We had ordered our steaks medium rare and they both arrived well done. Mine was probably the wrong cut as well. We sent them back and after another 10 minute wait at around 11:30 we were eating the right cuts properly cooked. The manager apologised but for £180 and the experience we had I would have expected a free bottle of wine or a significant discount not just an apology.

Quite expensive (£3 for a slice of mushroom, £5 for some cherry tomatoes in a bowl) and considering it's a steak place you would think they would cook it to how you wanted. I wanted rare and mine was medium to well. Bit disappointing when you have to pay a £300 bill.

Incredible entrance and deleting throughout. Really does justify being on Regents Street. 3 floors of different setting styles. Huge selections of wines and choice of food. Incredible for special occasions. Wouldn't make it a regular as sheer cost may work for some. Top floor fantastic for the younger contingent. Family setting on the 1st floor. Ground floor more casual. Highly recommend the experience if haven't ever been and if you love great Steak it's a given. We were there for 4 hours we enjoyed it so much. 3 course meal and drinks looking at £200+ Chris our service waiter was very enthusiastic, impressionable and very helpful in sharing information. Disappointed that we arrived 10 minutes early for our booking, as the table wasnt ready were seated in the bar. From taking our drinks order it took 20 minutes for them to bring them to us. Our table still wasnt ready 30 minutes after we arrived even though they were seating people who had arrived after us. After enquiring as to how long we would have to wait we were finally taken to the dining room 40 minutes after our booking and then left standing around for 5 minutes as there still wasnt a table ready. While the food was good this service has put me off from going again, particularly as there was no apology from the staff or an offer of a free round of drinks etc while we waited!!

The food and service (on the 2nd floor) were good, even though the restaurant was super loud; and i found the female staff on the lower floor (including the barman) to be a bit on the rude side, maybe because of their lack of skills in English, as almost all of the staff seemed to be of foreign (east European) origins.

I see Argentina as my second homeland, and was very happy to find this restaurant in London. The visit was very successful and the food was just as high class as you would expect of Argentine food. Serivcen was excellent and tasteful environment. You don't get closer to Argentina then this, The only thing they would need to think about is a broader range of wines by the glass or carafe. I was there with my daughter and to order a bottle of wine would have been too much.

However, even though we had booked a table at 9pm our table was ready at 9.50pm, the table was in the basement which was very noisy and the main courses arrived at 10.50pm! It's the second time this happened so we won't go back again as even though the food is good, it is way too expensive for the service you get.

We had a booking here reserved for a long time following an earlier business lunch visit which had been thoroughly enjoyed. The food was excellent and the surrounds and ambience was superb. Unfortunately, the overall service from beginning to end did not measure up in the same way. This took somewhat of a shine of the overall experience. I am sure this was due to it being a busy Saturday evening although I would hope it would be better next time.
