A word from Gaucho Piccadilly
Tucked away in a little known side street off Piccadilly this Gaucho Restaurant provides a bit of the Pampas and Buenos Aires relocated to the heart of the West End. As you soon as you enter the restaurant the aroma of meat sizzling on the open grills hits you. As well as steak we do offer a selection of other dishes including fish, chicken, ceviche and vegetarian options.

At Gaucho we pride ourselves on the basic philosophy of provenance. To us this means authenticity, assurance and rigorous attention to obtain the finest quality ingredients at source. This dedication ensures that every time you visit us, you experience the true essence of Argentine cuisine. Its food, its wine, its culture and importantly the passion of its people.

Decked out in cowhide, mirrors and chandeliers we offer a full range of Argentine cuts of luxury beef, including the tender Bife de Lomo, aged for six to eight weeks and then flown in from Buenos Aires.

Diner Reviews
  • "The steak was amazing. Best i've ever had. The service was excellent and the decor just topped it all off. 5/5"
    dined on 20/04/2014
  • "I have to say I'm a bit old fashioned. I like to be able to see my food and hear the people around me. The cuts of meat were well explained and I have to say they were excellent. Starters were not so good with some unusual flavours and textures.- and I'm definitely not sure about hot chilli broccoli with steak. I love chilli but this mix was just wrong. Wine is very expensive but it's the over pricing I expected in London. Nice steak though, and that's what we went for. Would be good if you could see your way to the toilet! It made the Hollister shop seem bright."

  • "Ambience is the best, service second and then comes food quality. My meat was slightly burned and my partner's beef not medium-rare as ordered. The wine list is long but without any exciting choices. The price is crazy and definitely not worth the experience."
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "Food excellent, staff excellent. Only downside was a bit of a wait at the downstairs reception desk, despite booking had to queue for 5 mins"
    dined on 19/04/2014
  • "The reason I chose this venue was my wife had never experienced Gaucho's before. Having enjoyed the experience myself I felt it would be a pleasant change for her on our two day visit to London. Service was poor and the meal was served far to quick drinks starter and main course all over in less that than an 60 min"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "As some of my guests had not experienced Gaucho's before, I was hoping it would impress, I was not let down, our server guided our group through the selections and gave great advice, with the steaks being labelled " one of the best steaks I have ever eaten" by some of the table. Not being to familiar with Argentinian wines, our server was there again to give some recommendations, and this was again first class. Great food and great service without all the stuffiness. "
    dined on 16/04/2014
  • "As usual food was great however a waiter spilled Chimchurri oil all over my trousers (not the main guy serving us). They offered to pay for my dry cleaning but I felt that something more should have been done at the time to reduce the feeling that the meal was ruined. Reduced bill, free wine etc. Expected better from Gauchos to which I am usually a regular"
    dined on 17/04/2014
  • "Great decor, good food, steak was good and excellent wine. Waiter took order and didn't come back until we ask one of his colleagues for the check."
    dined on 15/04/2014
  • "Amazing food and fantastic service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
    dined on 17/04/2014
  • "Very good steaks, excellent wine, mediocre service and overpriced is as succinct as it comes. We were made to feel as if the staff were doing us a favour by allowing us to dine in their establishment. Was much better when it was in the cellars, small and more intimate venue. "
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "I've been to Gaucho twice and both times I left fully satisfied. The steaks are delicious and the restaurant is very nicely decorated. However, I could do with a bit more lighting! The staff is very friendly and keen to answer any questions as well as suggest the perfect cut of meat for you. I would definitely visit it again."

  • "I've been to Gaucho a few times now and am still happy with the overall experience. Had a table on the top floor which is classically designed with the standard Gaucho theme of dim lighting and leather chairs. The service was attentive but felt a little rushed to the point where our food order was taken before choosing any wine (from a very extensive wine list). Food wise the steaks were pretty decent and cooked perfectly for what was asked, you get exactly what you ask for - a steak on a plate with sides. The sides were not that big and expensive for what you actually got. Would I go back? Probably yes. Would it be anytime soon? Probably not."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Excellent meat, good service with a touch of glamour"
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "We had the lunch time menu - the steak was very average (you could cook a better one at home) and the peppercorn/bernaise sauces both quite woeful. The only saving grace is the decor which makes it a cool place to take younger clients. The wine selection is good but waiting 15 minutes for a second bottler runis it sligtly. If you are stuck between Gaucho and Hawksmoor, do not think twice, Hawksmoor is better 10 times out of 10."

  • "For a delicious steak, Gauchos is one of my favourites, however on visiting Gaucho Piccadilly, I wasn't impressed. The quality of food was good but the service wasn't as 'up to scratch' as it should be. I found the dining area crowded with servers bumping into chairs or weaving in & out trying to avoid them. It was super busy being a Saturday evening, our server tried her best to serve too many people at once often leaving us waiting for too long. After dinner, we decided to have drinks in the bar but that too wasn't good as too many tourists with rucksacks were entering the bar..... No, I won't go back to Piccadilly. Gaucho O2 offers a much better experience!"
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Bad ambience.. Dreadful service... Steak that wasn't anywhere near as good as it used to be... Vladimir our waiter forgot our wines... He didn't even approach the table for 15 mins after we were sat down. They forgot our sauces (steaks were halfway eaten when he came back)... This is the very last time we eat there.. As the last time was poor too. What a shame. Terrible"
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Went to the gaucho Piccadilly to celebrate a special occasion with my partner. The staff were so attentive and friendly from the minute we walked through the door. As for the food, it was amazing and without doubt the best steak we had ever tasted. This was my third visit to gaucho (previously went to the o2 and also Piccadilly once before) and the standard of the food still blows me away. If you are in the area, not sure where to go for dinner and love steak, this one is a no brainer!!! :)"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "I took 2 clients to to Gaucho on Monday evening and it was brilliant. Perfect setting and ambiance, brilliant wine selection and the service was on hand at every turn. How could I forget the steak - brilliant!"
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "The restaurant is really nice and the location is perfect. But the staff looks tired, the food not accurated, the meat is served without the correct knife and you have to wait 45 minutes to get it. Much better Goodman or Hawksmoor, even if more expensive. Not to recommend"
    dined on 07/04/2014
  • "I had an amazing time at gaucho Piccadilly, been to many steakhouses recently including Maze Grill and Hawksmoor and this is by far the best for service, value and food. Was surprised when they didn't bring me a steak knife but you really didn't need one. The steak was excellent, service amazing and not the most expensive steak I have eaten either."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "This is not a bad restaurant. However, given price, reputation and its trendy style I think it is highly overvalued. The atmosphere is ok, but mostly filled by mid-aged tourists sent there by their hotel concierge. The food is nothing but average, you´ll get the same quality at H.Rock/P Hollywood for much less of the price. I ordered beef (medium) it was closer to medium plus/well-done and not as tender as you should expect. Chips were soft and very average, sauce was unexciting. The most positive was corn/pumpkin mash I ordered. Our service was too nagging. In sum it was eatable for sure, but it is a rip off. I would highly suggest Goodman or Hawksmoor for a better dining experience. I would say Gaucho - it is where people from Idaho go."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Had an evening meal at Gaucho on recommendation from a friend. Definitely worth the visit. Service was excellent and staff attentive but left you to enjoy you're meal without being hassled. The food is an excellent quality and if steak is your thing then you cant go wrong. Best we have had in ages. We will be back."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "good old Gaucho never really fails in terms of ambience, services and food, however the menu needs updating and the service could be a tad better...competition in this space is fierce with establishments the likes of Hawksmoor, STK etc.."
    dined on 04/04/2014
  • "This was our second trip to Gaucho and as expected the food was exellent. The staff where very attentive and theirknowledge of the different cuts of meat was extensive. The atmosphere was good but the restaurant was a little dark making navigation a little difficul on the stairs. as expected the meal itself was a bit pricey but not unduley for central London."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "I LOVE coming to Gaucho's, I love the food, the service and the everything about it. Would recommend it to anyone."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Thought the restaurant was overcrowded and noisy. Our table position was in a very busy thoroughfare. Food was good although slightly overpriced for the portion sizes."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "Our daughters gave us a gift card for this restaurant when we visited London recently. Our son-in-law knew my husbands fondness for a good steak - the food & service did not disappoint - the waiter was attentive & took us through the board of steaks available, and considering how busy the restaurant was, service was excellent The meat was cooked just as we ordered & we enjoyed a delicious meal. However, we will not be returning. When we arrived we followed a member of staff down to the dinning room in almost complete darkness-the lobby stairs & dinning room appeared to be lit only by tea-lights! This gloom obviously did not affect the majority of young diners but those of us over sixty prefer to see where we are going & what we are eating!"
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "Amazing food and service at Gaucho Piccadilly. The only issue was the "trendily atmospheric low lighting" which was little short of pitch darkness and caused me to fall down a step on the way to the bathroom, long before the exquisite Malbec took effect."
    dined on 03/04/2014
  • "l booked a table for 3 to celebrate my birthday, with my sister and my brother in law visiting from ltaly...l have been here before few times as l like the atmosfere and the food quality.....service is nice, the only think l didn't like is that, when l asked if it was possible to have the table a little earlier, the guy at the reception answered with a sharp no, which is not very polite....apart that it still a good restaurant PS: the toilets are too dark and castrofobic in my opinion....."
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "The steak was great, and the wine was delicious...the only problem was, it was too blooming hot in the restaurant. As delicious as the food was, at one point we found it very difficult to eat because we were uncomfortably hot. Apart from that it was very good."
    dined on 25/03/2014
  • "4 fiends had dinner here. Very pleased with the restaurant, but the table we got was in a dark place in the restaurant. We had to use our mobiles to light up the menu. (Saw other guests who also needed more light to reed the menu)."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "I've been to this Gaucho many times and it never disappoints. Excellent steak and fantastic wine. Looking forward to the new top floor opening with it's open kitchen, I did miss not being able to watch the steaks being cooked."
    dined on 27/03/2014
  • "I've been to this restaurant a few times before, however, on this occasion i would say that the service to our table was not at its highest quality. our waiter was quite slow at coming back to take our drinks orders."
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Pour la deuxième fois à Gaucho, toujours pas sécu ! Une nourriture exceptionnelle, très bon accueil, je recommande ! Amateur de viande ... À faire au moins une fois dans sa vie !!!"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "The steak at Gaucho's was divine. The gentleman explaining the cuts of steak was knowledgable. Thought the interior was just a bit too dark and quite loud but that didn't detract from the food. The cheese balls to start with were delicious and we asked for extra! The empanado's were too much pastry, not enough filling but were edible. Steak was outstanding, melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection. Sides - chips, squashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and spinach were all delicious. Definitely recommend"
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "Second visit to this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed! Lovely fillet steak, cooked perfectly and the champagne washed it down nicely! Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so! Great night out during our short trip to London! We will be back!! Thanks"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "If you like steak you're going to love Gaucho Piccadilly. There was every type of steak you could possibly dream of. And the sauces are to die for."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "whenever we are in London, Gaucho is mandatory. the ambience is perfect, unique steak"
    dined on 29/03/2014
  • "Been here many times and steak is always great with friendly service"
    dined on 12/05/2013
  • "Have been to the restaurant two times before, and there are couple of things that are annoying. First there it is a very loud restaurant, you cannot hear what the waiter is saying to you. Also very hot - should amp up the aircond. a little more. People were sweating. The food is always good, though my starter wasnt available. I will seriously think about going again."
