Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Gaucho's Richmond to celebrate my sisters 50th we sat outside until gone midnight right on the river it was lovely. We had one chewy steak which wasn't even the steak we ordered but they were quick to take this off the bill and told us they would be more than happy to have cooked a fresh piece."

  • "We had a dissappointing meal on Saturday night. I had been looking forward to going as we often go to Gaucho in town. The location is fantastic but the good and service were not. Considering the price you could eat a lot better."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "Lovely location, great atmosphere, excellent service, fantastic food. A little on the expensive side, but well worth it."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "Service was rushed so we did not enjoy what was suppose to be a relaxing dinner. Too many staff running around. The food was ok, experience was not."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "I would very much like to post a positive review but hard to do so. Service was very slow. Waitress showed no emotion, everything she said was just patter. Need to show a much more personal approach. Drinks order never arrived and when it did it was wrong. Steaks were good but very poor show on the sides, should be serving hand cut chips for this price not machine manufactured. Side Salad was dreadful coated in some form of dressing. Did not seem fresh. Incredibly noisy atmosphere....not sure I would frequent establishment again."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Good bar, great ambiance inside and out. The steaks are great and the fish from the outdoor grill is also excellent. Ceviche and many other great started. Probably the best Argentinian wine menu anywhere in the UK."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Apart from one of the steaks being over cooked, I couldn't fault the food. The service however, was awful, we had two waitresses, one was OK, the other appalling. They did not bring the steaks out like they did the first time and show the different types. Then the second waitress spilt water all down my partner and sneakily hid it from her manager, she then spilt the steak sauce all down the back of my chair. Nothing was done about either and when we asked for the bill she didn't understand and had to get someone to help her. Overall, I will not be returning to Gautros Richmond, the hassle to find somewhere to park and receive that service is not worth the time."

  • "Great location, very friendly staff, if you like meat, you will like the place."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Food and service were great as usual, our waitress had a great wine recommendation, catered to our little menu requests and sorted out birthday candles. It's refreshing that they still don't include 12.5% service on the bill, I think it makes the staff there a lot more friendly, and the customers a lot happier to leave a tip"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Gauchos has always been very good in terms of food and ambience but the Richmond Riverside venue is a stunning location which makes it feel very special. Lovely friendly service and the option to dine alfresco. Great tunes too!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "We also go to Gaucho for our anniversary and they never disappoint and if you get good weather its sure to be a great atmosphere as you sit on the terrace and watch the world go by. Its very relaxing atmosphere the staff incredibly friendly, helpful and they certainly know their meat :) I will always recommend the Lomo fillet and they always give you great recommendations of wine or cocktails or in my case mocktails as I am pregnant. A delightful afternoon"

  • "We went to Gaucho in Richmond to celebrate my girlfriend getting a new job. The restaurant was busy and humming when we got there at 9:30. The staff seemed attentive at first, but eventually there attentiveness became annoying. Our table felt a little bit cramped, as we were very close other tables for two on both sides of us. Since we were a late sitting on the staff were obviously very keen to clean up the other tables next-to-last when they finished dinner, and one member of staff carelessly sprayed table cleaner mist over my dinner plate. Fortunately I was three quarters of the way finished. The food was very nice though and had the service been more thoughtful then I'm sure we could have had a very nice evening."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "First trip here for a long time. Plus points are the lovely location and we had pre-dinner cocktails outside. The steaks were good too as was the winelist and the superb sommelier to talk us through it. Minus points were the starters and cost - £12 for a bellini is steep - for Richmond. Overall I'd rather go into town and eat at Hawksmoor -much better and about the same price"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "The service was great, the steak was sumptuous, the location is stunning, and the ambiance was perfect"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "Gaucho Richmond. Great setting, service as expected, very good food, excellent selection of wines, if a little pricey. Thoroughly recommended for a special occassion where you want to spend a little bit extra on food and drink."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Apart from the steak which was nice, I won't be rushing back. Terrible 'serviche' starters , poor service and quite expensive Trying to pretend it's better than it is, and nowhere near any of the good restaurants in London Shame, as Richmond so deserves better restaurants , but this just didn't meet the mark"
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Gaucho never seems to disappoint & the Richmond one has a beautiful setting alongside the river. The attention to detail (service wise) and fantastic food make it well worth the premium paid for a steak & we will definitely be back!"
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "Exquisite starters (the ceviche is divine), beautifully cooked steak and lovely desserts, all paired with excellent wines at every course! I can't fault the food or service and we had a memorable evening by the river celebrating a birthday!"
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "My fiancé and I have eaten at Gaucho Richmond before, as well as other branches of the restaurant around London. This last experience was the most disappointing. The music was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak and had to spend the night shouting at each other over a very small table! We also couldn't hear our waitress and she couldn't hear us, so again, a lot more shouting. Our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and when our food did arrive it wasn't the delicious, high quality we've come to expect from Gauchos. For the prices you pay the food was very average (slightly overlooked green beans and a very mediocre baby gem salad to accompany our meat). The experience just wasn't worth it and sadly, we won't be going back."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Gaucho really put the guest first with an outstanding service and friendliness. The food is amazing, the varity of especially Malbec wines are exciting and the view so close to the Thames is lovely. We celebrated our anniversary here and the dinner ended with a surprise cake special designed by the staff. That gesture together with the rest really made this visit first class"
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "My fiancé booked a table at Gaucho for my birthday celebration meal. The staff looked after us so well, wishing me a happy birthday and talking us through the menu and making recommendations based on our tastes. We really enjoyed our treat watching the sun go down on the week with a beautiful view of the river. When the sun started setting, staff brought out shawls to keep us warm, a nice, thoughtful touch. Our steaks were perfect and melted in the mouth, my other half was very impressed."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Food was normal for Gaucho. Service was ok, nothing special. Ambience, great location in the sun overlooking the river!!"
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "I'm a big fan of gaucho and after a long period of trying other steakhouses I have to say its still one of my favourites. There is nothing to really complain about the food is always good, great choice on the wine but definitely think they could look to source some cheaper bottles (they do exist!). Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Would definitely return but only for special occasions."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "The restaurant was up market, the staff were so friendly and helpful. They were top class. The food was impeccable and it has ruined all other meals for me as nothing will take as good as the steak at Gaucho. It is expensive but completely worth it and I will most definitely be going back again."
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "A really outstanding lunch with each course perfectly served and tasted delicious. Steaks were perfectly cooked and the taster dessert was awesome."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Even though a chain the Gaucho restaurant in Richmond certainly has its unique features and setting. Located by the river Thames in Richmond it is close enough to walk to, but still gives you this feeling of being away from it all. The combination of location, style and ambience, especially on a hot summer night if you can get a table outside, is simply priceless. But Whether you are being seated outside or inside the food is excellent, the wine list impressing and the service is simply outstanding. So if you should find yourself in this neck of the woods my advice is simple: go there! Come to think of it; even if you are staying in central London I still would recommend you to consider travelling out here. Can’t wait to come back!"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "The staff were brilliant during this visit. Our waiter was funny and attentive without being overbearing. My steak was great, but 2 of our party were not completely satisfied (they said their steaks were chewy). The wine was great and overall ambience was good. My only gripe was it was very cold sat under an air con vent - so take a cardigan/jumper just in case."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Booked this restaurant for my husbands birthday lunch. Was a great experience. Food was excellent...as expected. .and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Thankfully the weather was perfect so we sat outdoors. A superb restaurant, would definitely reccomm."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "This is my third time there and this time the food was as expected Gaucho standards but service and the knowledge of the waiters had in a sharp decline."
    dined on 24/06/2014
  • "As you expect, all the quality of the Gaucho chain but a very different atmosphere as you done Al Fresco, brilliant for a sunny Summer's Sunday."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "We really enjoyed the food, service and feeling of the place. Could even accommodate us running 30 minutes late with no problem. Lovely riverside views and feeling, you get what you pay for here, fabulous food."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Had a great birthday meal with friends was a little concerned after reading some negative reviews. We met our head waiter who's name was Luca. He was charming and spoke clearly and with confidence. The service was amongst the best we have ever experienced even though the restaurant wAs packed we felt we were the only ones there. The food was very good. Steaks were presented as masterpieces on boards and were heavenly. Sides were hardly necessary although I had mushrooms and sweet potato chips Starters were wonderful especially the seafood. Wine was interesting although at realistic price point not a huge choice. To sum up the Goucho is a fantastic place for a special treat but the prices are way up there you get what you pay for Excelent"
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Bit pricey but well worth it, probably one of the best fillet you will taste in London"
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "It is hard to fault Gaucho. They reliably produce really good steak (spiral cut rib-eye is my favourite). The sides are well prepared and not just an afterthought. The winelist is not huge, but is well matched to the food they serve. The price compares well to other good steak-houses in London (better value than Hawksmoor, to my mind). The only down-side is that the service can be a bit wayward at busy times. ..and I have to mention the fun of getting a ride back to along the towpath to Richmond bridge in one of their golf buggies - though our combined post-prandial weights were causing the motor to produce some rather worrying noises!"
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "Was welcome as soon as we got to the door. Staff were brilliant helping with types of foods and wines without being asked to. Wife loved it which all that matters x"
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "A perfect place for men who enjoy red meat - a tray of uncooked Argentinian steaks are brought to the table to demonstrate the various qualities of the different cuts, sizing and ageing of the meat. The rare fillet steak was outstanding, the rump steak very good and my cerviches was light and interesting. The cocktails, South American breads and deserts were very good indeed. The only drawbacks were the rather long wait for our table and the noisy small children, but it was Father's Day."
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "The welcome was amazing even to having your own Waitress. The ambience of Gustos was superb. The menu was "Top Class" also shown the steak board prior to ordering. The choices of wine was fantastic. We have already recommended Gustos to our friends in London and Edinburgh."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "You'd think a place that specialises in steaks would do better than this. My steak (rump) was poor and more like frying steak; Nicky's was tough and well done (she asked for medium rare). Mine was far too salty. I had a feeling this was going to be the case when they brought out some steaks to explain what each one is - they were all anaemic and inedible-looking. By the way, I don't need to be told what fat does to the taste of steak - I have eaten enough of them. And I do know what the different cuts are. The restaurant looks like a chav TOWIE salon, but we were there on a glorious sunny day and outside eating made the experience bearable... at least until the bill came."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Good food but relative pricy - also no children menue or child portions."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Richmond location is superb but the the service was too. Only complaint was waiting half an hour for our table after the booked time even though there were tables free. Considering the steak is such good value the dessert was very disappointing and not worth near 8 pounds, and sides were very small. The breads and oil dip served with were lovely but pepper sauce not peppery at all. The wine list didn't have many affordable bottles in the red section though the half bottle of Malbec was very nice."
