A Cuisine as warm as the land of its birth, Indian food is complex, spicy, multi-flavoured and hearty. For over 50 years, Gaylord has been taking London to the plains of North India on a culinary journey spiced with splendour, history and rich, unforgettable flavours.
Here at Gaylord we host a festival of Mughlai Fare, which includes the exotic dishes created specially for the Maharajas, Nawabs and the elite of Erstwhile North Indian states. We endeavour not only to present you with these specialities in the most authentic form, a genuine effort is also made to pamper you in the royal style and in the best Indian tradition. So permit us to take you on an adventurous gourmet experience with our Tandoori Specialities, delicately prepared curries with distinct characteristics of their own and a host of desserts to choose from that will leave a lingering taste urging you to come back to us to recapture the spirit of Royal India. • "All I can say is WOW. If you havent been here, dont think twice, just go - you will NOT regret it."

  • "As a patron to this establishment for over 20 years, I had high expectations based on my previous experiences. I took a few friends for dinner as I haven't been in the last couple of years hoping for the same great food, ambience and service that I was always served with in the past. Since the change in management, I was disappointed with the lukewarm service, the disappearance of our waiter completely and the time taken to bring a jug of water or poppadoms to the table. (I had even highlighted that one of my friends was due to break his fast and would appreciate some water asap)! Aside from the lack of service, the food still held a quality similar to the past. Delicious & authentic!"

  • "Had ressies for 2 and were sat straight away. We ordered a starter then 2 friends joined us for dinner. The staff were very accomodating and added our friends to the table including bringing them drinks and table settings. We all were served timely and at the same time."

  • "Great authentic Indian food with good service and a nice atmosphere."

  • "Overall a nice experience, but the service was slow and uninspiring. Nice food and presented well."

  • "Absolutely the best indian food in England, I have been going to this restaurant for almost forty years and have not found a better one!"

  • "We were rushed through service and starters taken away even though we were not finished and told them so twice. At least 10 times they asked if we had finished mains, did feel valued customer, they were in a rush to get us out and we had to ask for top table discount to a few sighs"

  • "Went for dinner last Sunday and for a restaurant with a good reputation we were very disappointed. The food was very good and the menu was interesting but the service was so bad it took any gloss that may have been there from the evening. We had a 7pm reservation and did not leave until nearly 10pm. It seemed as if none of the staff could take an order bar one member of staff. Had to ask for drink orders several times and when they did arrive were incorrect. Main dishes took and age to arrive and when they did they were brought out at 5 mins intervals. Staff were friendly but there was no communication between them and the managers looked disinterested by it all. Took 5 attempts to get the bill. Restaurant area needs a refurb as well."

  • "We had good food and the service was very good. Catered for our special needs. Also adjusted our dishes to our requirements. Waiters and staff were very attentive and made sure we were looked after. Over all well worth our dinner experience Thank You "

  • "I really like Gaylord. The food is excellent, well spiced and served as you request. The waiters are pleased to discuss with you so you get exactly what you want. A favourite of mine is the Lamb Rogan Josh"

  • "This isn't your normal curry restaurant. It's not anglicised. There were lots of indian families in there which says something as well. The food was delicious. Really good. But expensive. Its round the corner from Oxford Circus tube station so the rent is probably quite pricy, which might also explain the cost of the food and drink. There were three of us eating, we had a starter, main, poppadoms and *cough* 8 Cobra beers and it came to £50 each. It was Monday night and they have a 30% discount on food. My gripe: they didn't apply the discount until I pointed out that it was Monday. He said that when i booked it I needed to have selected the "discount" button, but he'd give it to me anyway. There was no discount select button. Tut! "

  • "This place ticks all the boxes for food but drinks service, attention of staff and speed was shocking. The place was full but they had no reason to fall down on service as they had plenty of staff. They just seemed to wait and dilly dally with 3 servicing one table when they could have split up. On this occasion both female toilets were out of order and I had to use men's with a waiter waiting as I had asked. For this kind of service it was expensive at £60 per head with drinks. Thank goodness the food redeemed the service, noise and toilet issue. Management wake up and train on service as you were full!!"

  • "We love this place and come here on a regular basis. We used to save for special occasions but it's too good to wait inbetween. Anyone who gives this place a bad review is wrong. The newer fusion restaurants may have more modern decor and fancy lighting, but to us it's all about the food and that's why we come back regularly. "

  • "Had a lovely dinner at Gaylord's. I am Indian and I hate eating Indian food outside of the home as it's usually rubbish, but I would be happy to eat at Gaylord's again. Also the food is halal. "

  • "Having visited this restaurant twice before I had hoped for an equally good experience, but the ambience was very flat, the service curt, and the food decidely average. With so much choice in the capital, I wn't be making a return."
    dined on 23/04/2014
  • "We visited on a bank holiday Sunday evening. The restaurant was roughly one third full, which left the ambience OK, nice and relaxed. However considering the amount of people there, the service was relatively poor. The food is great but even with 30% off we were still left with a £90 bill for two, without desserts, so pound for pound it could have been a little better."
    dined on 20/04/2014
  • "We had a 6;30 weekday reservation and when we arrived, there was no one else in the restaurant. But within an hour, the place was packed. The service was very attentive although our waiter was very business-like rather than 'friendly'. Didn't matter. The food was wonderful especially the lamb korma and black dal. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. For three adults, we additionally ordered a chicken tandoori and rice and had plenty to eat. With 3 beers, the total bill was 89£. I would describe this restaurant as upscale Indian so if you are looking for that kind of ambience with excellent food, Gaylord will not disappoint."

  • "I enjoyed my meal here but it was on the expensive side for a curry. The TopTable 20% deal helped! I will go back."

  • "Great vale and delicious indian food on top table menu"
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "It was a good experience as always though starter portion was quite small. Without top table 50% off it can be rather expensive but with the offer it is still expensive about 40£ for 2 with a coke each 2 starters and 2 main courses no dessert quite a nice great once a while.."
    dined on 30/03/2014
  • "Excellent food! Bit of a wait when we got there but not a problem as we had booked and our table was ready. Very busy but we were served promptly. Hadn't had dishes like here since India."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Food was ok, over priced for what it was. Service was very poor, had to wait an age for drinks, had to ask several times, starters were bought out seperately, so no one could eat together, made a point of requesting the mains were all bought out together, but of course the same happened again. Complained and were told they were on their way. What didn't help was they had one person bringing food to everyone in the restaurant and the management just swanning round taking orders!! Wouldn't go there again or recommend!!"
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "Hi, We had the veg options and they were good. You are paying for location and ambiance."

  • "We spent a month in London and discovered the Gaylord by accident. Including takeaway, we ate there 7 times. We tried other Indian restaurants but none measured up and we found ourselves saying, "This would be better at the Gaylord!" The food is imaginative and delicious. Recommended: any tandoori, any chicken, chana peshawari (amazing), dilli ki aloo tikki (brilliant!), any lamb, cauliflower chilli fry, garlic naan, bhatura. We didn't know how good chicken masala could be till we tried the Gaylord's. We didn't like the dals as much (order the chickpeas instead) or the fish (a little dry). Service is warm and friendly and very efficient. Do book ahead. They get crowded. Next time in London, we'll be back."
    dined on 07/03/2014
  • "the food was good but we were put at a table by a column and awkwardly witty as a group of 3 even though half of the restaurant was empty. We love this restaurant but it was a bit greasy and less spicy than usual."
    dined on 17/02/2014
  • "We are regular customers and this visit didn't disappoint. High quality food, innovative but thankfully avoiding the trend to go so far away from tradition you don't recognise anything. If you love Indian food, this is the best!"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "We had a buy a gift voucher. Were treated like second class citizens. we asked if we could swap the deserts for sides and were even willing to pay we were simply told "no". we asked if we could have coriander on the nan bread and again were simply told "no". Very small portions and very limited menu. would not go back."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "I have been going to Gaylord for many years. This time unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The food was lacking in flavour and cold. Attention to detail was absolutely missing. I shall not be visiting again."
    dined on 24/01/2014
  • "Went to Gaylords, the most unlikely name for an Indian restaurant, with two business colleagues one lunch time recently. It was v quiet yet the service was slow but the food good"
    dined on 23/01/2014
  • "Always a fine experience; a cut above most Indian restaurants"
    dined on 20/01/2014
  • "Fantastic customer service, staff were very friendly and made us feel well come"
    dined on 19/01/2014
  • "The Gaylord is an authentic Indian restaurant, and all the dishes are excellent. The lamb and fish curries are outstanding, as are the breads. The service was excellent, but as last orders for Sunday lunch are at 2.30pm it is best to allow plenty of time."
    dined on 19/01/2014
  • "A charming atmosphere with delicious food and good service. I would recommend it to all my friends and colleagues. Ideal for business lunches and romantic dinners."
    dined on 14/01/2014
  • "We went to this restaurant for lunch and it was fairly quiet and relaxed. We had the dabba and other indiividual dishes. Everything was lovely. The service was good. It is a little expensive compared to other Indian restaurants but the location is convenient for shopping while being on a quiet street. Worth a visit."
    dined on 11/01/2014
  • "We enjoyed our meal at the Gaylord. The food was good quality and served hot. There was plenty of choice so everyone found something that they really wanted to eat. The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were nice and tender and well-spiced. The service was a bit abrupt. When we came - we sat a table that had not yet been set. While we waited for our two friends we thought the table would be set properly but in the end it never was. I had to ask for napkins midway through the meal as we still didn't have any. The restaurant has high ceilings and is well-lit so is a good choice to take guests who want to sample an Indian dinner. However, I thought the prices were still a bit too high for what was on offer."
    dined on 29/12/2013
  • "From the moment we got there to the moment we left, we were treated like royalty. The staff were amazing, funny, friendly and willing to put up with 11 LOUD teachers, celebrating the end of term. Food was prompt and delicious, wine was flowing, they catered for our every need. Will be going back!"
    dined on 19/12/2013
  • "A good lunch - very good value but would have liked bigger portions. Service was very good, though"
    dined on 17/12/2013
  • "I was really disappointed with Gaylord's. It was extremely expensive for what we got and to top it off a 12.5% (£16) service charge was added to our bill. The service was poor and quite rushed and there wasn't much meat in the dishes either. Most likely you are just paying to be close to Regents Street. Bit of a shame as i was looking forward to eating here! ;("
    dined on 14/12/2013
  • "Good quality & authentic food cooked in a tried & trusted way. Possibly not the nadire of Indian cooking but very satisfying nevertheless. Perhaps could do with a bit more atmosphere."
    dined on 12/12/2013
  • "The water arrived after 45 mints of us arriving, having asked for a it a few times, and when we asked again, we were shouted a by the manager: " Can't you see how busy we are..!" The starters arrived after one hour and the quality was below average. The main meal took another 50 minutes and not served together. The manager gave us the bill having already added 12.5% service charge, and £10 for the table, and asked to remove it, he started arguing, and shouting, pointing his finger saying: " you are making me angry now". Could it be that we were a group of 7 women!! It was our friends' birthday and he ruined it for her. It was extremely expensive for a poor quality food and absolutely terrible service."
