I'm living close to brick lane so usually I do not really enjoy going to a indian restaurant. But in that one, the food is really good. They really think about the food and not about having the cheapest meal. Try the Lamb josh rogan and the butter chicken. The portions are quite big. The restaurant itself is lacking a bit of personnality but the personnel is really friendly and will make every effort to please you. I'll definitivly go back there for some more.

Slightly stale poppadums, OK food and sky high prices - I guess it's all about either lowering the prices or raising the bar - currently the prices don't correspond. Nice looking restaurant, and a good atmosphere. But sadly the website looks more exciting than the actual experience itself. Shame.

Went to Gaylord with several friends for our monthly 'curry club'. Gaylords was the destination and i had heard the name before. I checked the menu before and all the key dishes were there. The food was great however what i noticed from the offset was the prices on the menu. Were the prices so high because of the nice surroundings and the location? Must be. Why else charge so much. And for the price we were paying, i expected a lot better service. we had to keep reminding the staff to bring drinks or that we wanted to order. And at the end when we were paying our bill, our waiter just left to serve someone else. Clearly we were not important enough

Went for dinner on a Sunday evening 6pm. Restaurant was fairly quiet to start then picked up a little but was not busy at all. Food was lovely as were drinks. Ordered prawn curry and fish curry and couple vegetarian options plus starters. All tasted nice and well presented. We had our own cake for dessert for a bday and they were nice enough to cut it for us when asked. The only downside was having to keep asking for things twice. We asked for a jug of water for the table and water was poured into our glasses and jug taken away. Later on we had to ask again for water twice because they had forgotten. Considering it wasn't busy service was abit slow. But otherwise was a lovely evening with good food.

Seems it's hard to find good solid Indian food that has not been tweaked and modified and fused beyond recognition---we were so leased with the traditional options we could get here, in an upscale ambiance, with cordial, timely, knowledgable service. The owners was there, and he as well as several other staff members checked for satisfaction. Quite hospitable, and the food was excellent.

Last minute decision, lunch on a weekday. Quiet, only 2 tables. Lunch for 2 @ 19 quid had to be tried. Special menu for Amazonians gave us a starter each (from a choice of 3) and a shared (yes, shared) main course. From a choice of 3 also. Rice for 2 (not even pulao) and a nice naan bread (to share). One glass of wine, or a (small) kingfisher included. Food was nice, spicy, chili in evidence. Ordered pappadoms at the beginning, an extra wine and beer, and paid gratuity percentage at full menu price. Deal was £19 for two, extras on the day,£16.50! You gotta watch these offers. Still,a reasonable lunch. There was enough to eat for 2 people, but just a bit niggly regarding having to share a main course choice!

I went with friend's for a birthday. The service was not attentive. I dropped a fork and a waiter saw this, walked past and didn't offer me a clean one. There was also a spillage and no one came to assist. We bought a birthday cake in and no one remembered to bring it out. The poppadums didn't taste fresh. The curries were nice enough but not worth what they charge

I chose Gaylord for a business dinner with an American client who loves Indian food because it was conveniently close to my client's hotel. I was impressed with the quality of the food and the service and my client was delighted. We managed to create our own tasting menu by starting with the mixed grill followed by a selection of vegetable dishes. The Dal Bukhara was a particular success. I shall return.

As a patron to this establishment for over 20 years, I had high expectations based on my previous experiences. I took a few friends for dinner as I haven't been in the last couple of years hoping for the same great food, ambience and service that I was always served with in the past. Since the change in management, I was disappointed with the lukewarm service, the disappearance of our waiter completely and the time taken to bring a jug of water or poppadoms to the table. (I had even highlighted that one of my friends was due to break his fast and would appreciate some water asap)! Aside from the lack of service, the food still held a quality similar to the past. Delicious & authentic!

Went for dinner last Sunday and for a restaurant with a good reputation we were very disappointed. The food was very good and the menu was interesting but the service was so bad it took any gloss that may have been there from the evening. We had a 7pm reservation and did not leave until nearly 10pm. It seemed as if none of the staff could take an order bar one member of staff. Had to ask for drink orders several times and when they did arrive were incorrect. Main dishes took and age to arrive and when they did they were brought out at 5 mins intervals. Staff were friendly but there was no communication between them and the managers looked disinterested by it all. Took 5 attempts to get the bill. Restaurant area needs a refurb as well.

This isn't your normal curry restaurant. It's not anglicised. There were lots of indian families in there which says something as well. The food was delicious. Really good. But expensive. Its round the corner from Oxford Circus tube station so the rent is probably quite pricy, which might also explain the cost of the food and drink. There were three of us eating, we had a starter, main, poppadoms and *cough* 8 Cobra beers and it came to £50 each. It was Monday night and they have a 30% discount on food. My gripe: they didn't apply the discount until I pointed out that it was Monday. He said that when i booked it I needed to have selected the "discount" button, but he'd give it to me anyway. There was no discount select button. Tut!

This place ticks all the boxes for food but drinks service, attention of staff and speed was shocking. The place was full but they had no reason to fall down on service as they had plenty of staff. They just seemed to wait and dilly dally with 3 servicing one table when they could have split up. On this occasion both female toilets were out of order and I had to use men's with a waiter waiting as I had asked. For this kind of service it was expensive at £60 per head with drinks. Thank goodness the food redeemed the service, noise and toilet issue. Management wake up and train on service as you were full!!

We love this place and come here on a regular basis. We used to save for special occasions but it's too good to wait inbetween. Anyone who gives this place a bad review is wrong. The newer fusion restaurants may have more modern decor and fancy lighting, but to us it's all about the food and that's why we come back regularly.

We visited on a bank holiday Sunday evening. The restaurant was roughly one third full, which left the ambience OK, nice and relaxed. However considering the amount of people there, the service was relatively poor. The food is great but even with 30% off we were still left with a £90 bill for two, without desserts, so pound for pound it could have been a little better.
