Large, over the top, ostentatious. Food wasn't bad but did not impress me particularly, and certainly not for the prices being charged. Walking around the place made me feel like I was just wanting for someone to turn down the lights, clear away the diners and start playing RnB through a Funktion One system hidden behind a carved elephant.

I went here on a date with my fiance. I have been before but not on a date and my fiance has bever been. We loved the atmoshere, the food, the staff just everything about the place. It was also not over priced for the type of place it is and where it is. Our waiter explained the menu, was polite and is a credit to Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh is a great joint for tourists in the London area looking for a good Asian fix. Vegetarian options are rather slim. Ambience and decor far exceeded our expectations. Staff were very professional, but felt as though they were rushing us a bit at the end of our meal.

Better than my previous review a few weeks ago. We both thought the chicken gyoza starter was tasty and the rock shrimp tempura was fantastic. The Beef main course was certainly different and my wife loved it, whilst I had the 'just cooked' Chilean seabass with a superb tamarind sauce. Sides were okay apart from being a bit on the cold side. Biggest let down was the sweet. Apple crumble with sorbet, which was mostly crumble and almost non existent apple. A year ago we would have had fantastic a pot of something with a cinnamon biscuit and sorbet, whilst now it was the pot (as described) and sorbet. No cinnamon biscuits anymore?. Still an improvement on last time, but NOT up to last year's quality.

First time at gilgamesh was AMAZING. The restaurant is beautiful and big. Great ambience. The tables and chairs made you feel like king of the thrones. The service was good and the food oh the food the best pan asian food ive ever had. The meat is so tender the starters was amazing and i had the chocolate fondant for desert its a must have. The bill was £114 for 2 people but it was worth it. Happy night.

Generally very good food and service. They fell off when we had a specific request with the dessert that was not taken on board. One of my guests did not eat one of the items on the dessert and we mentioned this to the waiter. Had we known it was integral part of the dessert we would have ordered something else. It was a special occasion and I was disappointed with the fact that my guest was forced to eat "around" a taste he did not enjoy as he as was too shy to order something else which would have come long after the rest of the table. The waiter who was otherwise attentive apologised but it did take away from the evening and it ended on a less positive note. Overall however would recommend.

Had a fantastic meal off the set menu and was impressed that they managed to suggest alternative dishes to match some reasonably specific dietary requirements. When the food arrived we couldn't fault it, it was fantastic and really good value. However.... We were seated for nearly half an hour before someone took a drinks order , there was some difficultly explaining to the staff about dietary requirements and they seemed more interested in each other then their customers. It took the shine off the fantastic food!

We had wanted to go to Gilgamesh for quite a while and tried the tasting menu, thinking that this might be a good introduction to their food. The food was ok but not wow, the starter being the best - a variety of dim sum, sushi and battered prawns. The main course portion of beef was tiny, served on a small plate with small knife and fork - we dont like huge portions of food but this was taking the biscuit. Expensive and poor value for money even with the 50% off. Maybe better to have a main course on their al a carte but as they havent impressed us with the tasting menu we are unlikely to go back. Disappointing overall as the service was very welcoming and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

As clients of Gilgamesh since its opening, we have seen many changes, luckily the food is still of high quality and delicious. Service can be hit and miss. Generally Gilgamesh needs re-furb and refresh. We do not come here any more in the evenings as the pack them into the rafters and we have seen fights! The outside area in the car park is appalling covered in broken glass and litter and the entrance looks appalling....toilets always in a poor state and need refurbing. Food still excellent but overall Gilgamesh has lots its sparkle.

Had a 6pm reservation so quite early as we were heading to a concert later, service was poor from start to finish. Seated in the bar on arrival for a pre dinner drink yet no staff were around or came near to take an order, eventually got a drink but had to find staff again to get seated at our table, three more attempts to get someone to take us to a table. Food was delicious though and the decor is lovely. I won't return at this time of night again, it was obvious they had just opened. definitely a night venue. When we left we asked which exit was best to head up to the Roundhouse and were shown what they felt was the best way, straight out into a supermarket car park which was completely not the right way.

My favourite restaurant is dropping points. It started with the man at the door whom was effectively rude to my wife. (I was outside parking the car). Then the food was not as good as usual. Hmm .. they have changed chefs twice this year we hear. Oh dear. I still like Gilgamesh but the shine is beginning to dull. The 50% monthly menu was NOT one of the best, but I must highlight the sweet as excellent. Also the quality of the reduced price wine was I feel not up to the requisite standard. We dine here regularly and am overall a bit disappointed. We would still recommend to friends and will probably be back soon as has been the case over the past 5 years. Every place has a low point in it's history ... maybe this is it for Gilgamesh.

Great food and ambience, slightly disappointed by the service and staff. It took around 30 mins for our mains to arrive and when they brought them, it was another 5-10 mins till our side dish arrived. This can happen on a Friday night so I didn't mind too much, but what I found really off-putting was the condescending nature of the staff, both when I called to book and when I asked about the side dishes. I found them to be very rude. However, this was only a few of them and so I would happily return as other staff members were perfectly polite and the food was really nice.

Went for a birthday dinner. Food and service was fantastic until the bill came. The bill had £45 extra drinks we didn't order. When I queried it with the waitress, she said it was the drinks we had at the bar. I explained which waitress brought us from the front door to our table. She called the manager. The manager argued and said we had the drinks and we would have to pay. She then sent the barmaid to say she remembered serving my friend and me. Funny when I don't drink for religious reasons. I told her to check the CCTV. After 15 mins we were given out actual bill and paid and left. Service was fantastic until an embarrassing experience and being called a liar. £45 is not exactly going to break the bank for me. Left rather annoyed.

Great restaurant, food and service at Gilgamesh. We went as a group of 4 for the first time and all enjoyed our evening. Although the offer advertised by Open Table as '50% off the £49 set menu' is very misleading, as this is the restaurants standard price anyway! (£24.99 per head) So no real offer to take advantage of. We would've happily paid the full price and saved the embarrassment if it was more clear. Other than that,a great experience- the best cocktails too! Would definitely go again.

a group of 5 of us went Gilgamesh to celebrate a friend's birthday. There wasn't a single thing that I could fault on the whole dining experience at Gilgamesh. The staff that looked after us made conversation with us and looked after us very well. She wasn't over attentive at all. She was friendly and helpful. As I have made a note that it was a birthday celebration, the staff there certainly took note and made the same dessert we all had extra special for the birthday girl. I have never given 5 stars for everything in my reviews on a restaurant... but my experience at Gilgamesh was absolutely fantastic! :) Highly recommend!

The staff was inattentive, although the drinks were delicious, it took a long time for for the waiter to take our drink order and for the drinks to arrive. Our server had little to no knowledge of the menu, and did not inquire what order we would like our food served in. The sushi rice was overcooked, the eel was, if even grilled, not the correct texture and the tempura was soggy and bland The black rice sushi did not arrive at all and we had to ask to have it removed from our bill. The black rice risotto was decent, but seemed uninspired and lacked something to make it complete. The miso cod was the only redeeming dish we were served, although it was presented by the waiter as sea bass and incredibly cumbersome to eat with chopsticks.

One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had down to the amazing decor, great food and wonderful service. I would give it 100% but for me it was a little bit pricey (for me) and they added on the 12.5% service charge without asking me, however the service was great and I might have given that much anyway but would have preferred to do this by my own choice. Also it was a bit difficult to alter my booking when I realised the link to book a table from the restaurants own website restricted me to a set menu which they would NOT allow me to change to an open menu.... bit odd and I don't want to read too much into that because it will spoil my memories of the occassion.

The excellent food was let down by some of the worst service I've experienced in London. For example, when the waiter came to clear the table after the main courses, he asked if we wanted desert menus. Despite us asking for them, he cleared half the table and didn't return (to clear the rest of the table or to deliver the menus) until, 20 minutes later, we followed the lead of another table and literally waved our arms at every passing member of staff. In my experience, half-clearing tables, failing to deliver menus, and ignoring customers is not part of the service usually offered in London restaurants.

Started with a drink in the lounge. cocktails were decent but were £10:50 each, plus 12.5% for near non-existent service. Restaurant staff didn't seem to know much about the food menu. The food was quite good, excepting the terayaki beef, which we sent back as it was tough to the point of inedible. The waiter said "chef said it was fine". Well, chef didn't have to eat it and pay £75 a head for a meal with drinks, including the 12.5% "optional" service charge.
