This is the 2nd time we have been to Gilgamesh and it certainly didn't disappoint again! From the time you step on to the escalator you are made to feel special. The atmosphere was buzzing and it was great to sit near the bar and where the food was being prepared as there was lots going on. The menu was very exclusive and we started with some dim sum and crispy squid. There was enough time to between courses to relax and allow the food to digest. For main we had Thai green curry and beef with sugar snap peas and noodles. The food tasted fresh and vibrant and the meat tender and succulent. As it was a special occasion we treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne and liqueur coffees. The only thing that let the meal down was the Mille feuille dessert that was still a bit frozen in the middle. However this did not ruin the evening as the service was very good and the staff all very friendly. Will definitely book again!

Huge restaurant, the food is good but not great. The chef gave us a portion of sea bass FOC because it got mixed up with our order. Our waiter Mattia was exceptional. Please thank him for us. We dined on Friday 21st November 2014. All in all a nice experience.

This was my 2nd visit to Gilgamesh whilst visiting London . Food was superb, presentation was beautiful and the service we received was outstanding. Would highly recommend this restaurant and especially the prawn and scallop dim sum starter which i have had on both visits. Will definitely be visiting again.

To summarise, the drink that I asked for (Bloody Mary) was sooo salty, too salty! I asked for it to be spicy not salty. My partners drink however was lovely, so a little hit and miss with their cocktails! The venue itself if lovely, however upon sitting down for the meal, we were both equally disappointed. I ordered Beef teriyaki and my partner ordered something which I cant even remember now..both came out luke warm/bordering cold. It completely lacked flavour too...Really disappointed as I've wanted to go Gilgamesh for a very long time now... I've tried much better Pan Asian food at other restaurants, do not even waste your time with this one!

Good news, an improvement on last months meal. The starter favourite of 'Duck and watermelon salad' was fantastic as usual. The other starters were also very acceptable, although not so outstanding. The beef main course was interesting although difficult to eat with chopsticks, as it was minced quite fine. Good flavour though. The 'standard' red wine was reasonable, although not great value for the price. The sweet was a great tasting twist on a the 'pina colada', although presented with a very small ice-cream and no biscuit (a year ago we had cinnamon biscuits with a lot of the sweets, which I loved). The new chef(s) are obviously getting into their stride with the menus and seem to me to be improving gradually over the year. I look forward to their Christmas offering, although by past experiences that menu has often been a bit of a let down, and at a higher price. We will be back again.

Really enjoyed Gilgamesh overall. A nice ambiance, though a little loud for a meal for two, definitely more suited as a group night out dinner venue. The food was of very high quality, and we both really enjoyed our fish and teriyaki beef respectively. Service was a little slow, but the staff were polite and friendly. Two glasses of wine, a shared starter and two main courses came to £100 including service charge.

I really appreciated how accommodating the staff were. I don't eat shellfish or pork, but I didn't want the vegetarian set menu option. They kindly substituted a few items from the vegetarian menu into our meat menu. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. The food was creative and delicious. I will be back.

Having avoided coming here for about a year after a bad food experience (massively over cooked steak when had asked for medium rare- sent back and still came back super well done and tough) and annoying service, was very glad to give a second chance. Service was great and food was excellent- including a melt-in-the-mouth medium rare teriyaki beef steak as well as good quality sashimi and very nice soft shell crab and monkfish tempuras. Only minus is it usually tends to be very noisy (more so if there's an event), so avoid the weekends where there are often big groups if you actually want to talk to anyone. It's also quite pricey. Still, all worth treating yourself for the food.

this is NOT a restaurant. This is a club with an option to eat. Horrible. Entrance is up an escalator, it looks like an old factory (look at the ceiling!!!) and upon leaving you have to descent this horrible staircase - where we saw a MASSIVE rat!!! Don't go there if you're looking for a romantic dinner. Food is ok but I rather have it take away! Everyone is there just for the club - every table has a birthday party and all the women are half naked. If that's what you're after then go for it. If it's your anniversary - stay away.

  • Disappointing for Saturday Lunch

    Dined on 25/10/2014
I'm quite sure Gilgamesh comes into it's own after dark (so disregard this if you're visiting at night) but for lunch on Saturday, I wouldn't bother. It was three quarters empty with no buzz whatsoever. The service was very good but in the cold light of day, some of the food was pretty mediocre too - we sampled lots of small dishes and a couple of curries and they were OK. The bill for 4 of us came to over £200, that included only 3 alcoholic drinks and only 2 main courses - fairly expensive even for London prices!

Came with my wife for our anniversary as have always loved coming here. Service, however, was abysmal. Extremely slow, always had to signal for a waiter/waitress to come over. The staff had that knack of wandering around the restaurant trying to look busy and managing to look everywhere but at you. Then the waitress managed to knock our bottle of wine over, spilling it all over my wife. There was no offer of a free bottle and when I had the nerve to suggest that we should get the wine free of charge I was told by the waitress, "Well I only spilt a little bit". Hmmm, quite. Eventually, via the manager, we did get the wine free, only to then receive the bill with a 10% service charge automatically added! Their excuse - we are v busy.

Large, over the top, ostentatious. Food wasn't bad but did not impress me particularly, and certainly not for the prices being charged. Walking around the place made me feel like I was just wanting for someone to turn down the lights, clear away the diners and start playing RnB through a Funktion One system hidden behind a carved elephant.

Better than my previous review a few weeks ago. We both thought the chicken gyoza starter was tasty and the rock shrimp tempura was fantastic. The Beef main course was certainly different and my wife loved it, whilst I had the 'just cooked' Chilean seabass with a superb tamarind sauce. Sides were okay apart from being a bit on the cold side. Biggest let down was the sweet. Apple crumble with sorbet, which was mostly crumble and almost non existent apple. A year ago we would have had fantastic a pot of something with a cinnamon biscuit and sorbet, whilst now it was the pot (as described) and sorbet. No cinnamon biscuits anymore?. Still an improvement on last time, but NOT up to last year's quality.

The service was good and the food oh the food the best pan asian food ive ever had. The meat is so tender the starters was amazing and i had the chocolate fondant for desert its a must have. Generally very good food and service. They fell off when we had a specific request with the dessert that was not taken on board. One of my guests did not eat one of the items on the dessert and we mentioned this to the waiter. Had we known it was integral part of the dessert we would have ordered something else. It was a special occasion and I was disappointed with the fact that my guest was forced to eat "around" a taste he did not enjoy as he as was too shy to order something else which would have come long after the rest of the table. The waiter who was otherwise attentive apologised but it did take away from the evening and it ended on a less positive note. Overall however would recommend.

Had a fantastic meal off the set menu and was impressed that they managed to suggest alternative dishes to match some reasonably specific dietary requirements. When the food arrived we couldn't fault it, it was fantastic and really good value. However.... We were seated for nearly half an hour before someone took a drinks order , there was some difficultly explaining to the staff about dietary requirements and they seemed more interested in each other then their customers. It took the shine off the fantastic food!

We had wanted to go to Gilgamesh for quite a while and tried the tasting menu, thinking that this might be a good introduction to their food. The food was ok but not wow, the starter being the best - a variety of dim sum, sushi and battered prawns. The main course portion of beef was tiny, served on a small plate with small knife and fork - we dont like huge portions of food but this was taking the biscuit. Expensive and poor value for money even with the 50% off. Maybe better to have a main course on their al a carte but as they havent impressed us with the tasting menu we are unlikely to go back. Disappointing overall as the service was very welcoming and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

As clients of Gilgamesh since its opening, we have seen many changes, luckily the food is still of high quality and delicious. Service can be hit and miss. Generally Gilgamesh needs re-furb and refresh. We do not come here any more in the evenings as the pack them into the rafters and we have seen fights! The outside area in the car park is appalling covered in broken glass and litter and the entrance looks appalling....toilets always in a poor state and need refurbing. Food still excellent but overall Gilgamesh has lots its sparkle.

Had a 6pm reservation so quite early as we were heading to a concert later, service was poor from start to finish. Seated in the bar on arrival for a pre dinner drink yet no staff were around or came near to take an order, eventually got a drink but had to find staff again to get seated at our table, three more attempts to get someone to take us to a table. Food was delicious though and the decor is lovely. I won't return at this time of night again, it was obvious they had just opened. definitely a night venue. When we left we asked which exit was best to head up to the Roundhouse and were shown what they felt was the best way, straight out into a supermarket car park which was completely not the right way.

My favourite restaurant is dropping points. It started with the man at the door whom was effectively rude to my wife. (I was outside parking the car). Then the food was not as good as usual. Hmm .. they have changed chefs twice this year we hear. Oh dear. I still like Gilgamesh but the shine is beginning to dull. The 50% monthly menu was NOT one of the best, but I must highlight the sweet as excellent. Also the quality of the reduced price wine was I feel not up to the requisite standard. We dine here regularly and am overall a bit disappointed. We would still recommend to friends and will probably be back soon as has been the case over the past 5 years.
