I had the best meal this year during the week at Gravetye. What they served on Sunday was pub food, in fact my parents cooked me a much better roast last Sunday. Disappointing as I'd like to see them get their michelin star back. Person ahead of me paying said the same thing, I decided not to make a fuss. Bill was wrong and then when we refused another bottle of sparkling water they dumped tap water into our glasses before they were finished.

I was last at romantic Gravetye as a wide-eyed 16 year old, several decades ago: it was the first place I'd been where the orange juice for my Campari was squeezed on the spot. Standards of attention today are as high: an attentive and charming brigade was at pains to see that everyone's experience was flawless. The tasting menu was extremely well balanced and the sommelier's wine flight gave outstanding choices. The bill hurt - but then I wasn't expecting otherwise and could have chosen the bon marche lunch menu.

Beautiful setting and a very cosy location. The roaring fire as you come in was very welcoming against the cold outdoors. A lovely 16th C British home with character and friendly staff. I would go again

I booked my business partner and I in for an extra special Friday night of extravagance which consisted of the tasting menu, champagne (I wouldn't recommend the house champagne), cocktails, wine flights and brandies. We were met in the car park by a friendly face who was only too happy to help direct and assist in any matter. The cocktails in the drawing room were an unneccesary extra which allowed my business partner to talk turkey as I enjoyed lounging around with lavish cocktails. The pairing of wine with the tasting dishes was quite superb. Like all tasting menus, some courses exceeded others but overall it was a majestic night of sky-high servitude and sensory scrumminess.

This a lovely restaurant...set in a beautiful house with beautiful gardens. The staff were cheerful and very helpful and courteous. The food was delicious and the menu different. Unfortunately it was raining the day we were there..so we couldn't look around the gardens...eventhough the restaurant provided Umbrellas and Wellies..!!

I was looking for something special for our silver anniversary. Gravetye Manor ticked all the boxes. We started with drinks in the sitting room, then the main dining room for dinner. The food was fantastic. We both had the tasting menu. 7 delightful courses, with wine to accompany the food. We finished the evening with coffee in the sitting room. Sometimes the simple things get your attention, like the olives with our drinks which were fantastic. The staff were very knowledgeable with the food, and the service was excellent. We've already recommended Gravetye to our friends, and are planning a Christmas dinner

We spent our honeymoon at Gravetye 30 years ago. We have been coming back over the years to soak up it's splendor. Our last visit for lunch did not disappoint. It is important to go an hour early to walk in the magnificent gardens and take an aperitif in the garden or in front of the fire before your meal. There is really know place like Gravetye,

Another lovely afternoon at the Gravetye. The set lunch was excellent and reasonable value. Beetroot definitely Flavour of the Month ! Friendly, attentive service, as always. A little quiet in the restaurant, but probably not surprising on a Monday afternoon. And the sun came out as well - beautiful location.

The Gravetye was always my favourite restaurant, which is why we go often and why we even buy vouchers as presents for our family, but on our last meal, despite the expert attendance of the head waiter Gavin, there was a problem. The ambiance was the usual comfortable welcoming lounge with a crackling log fire, the service was its usual perfect attention without being fawning, the food was well presented and perfectly cooked, but my a la carte starter of king scallops struggled to puff themselves up to be anything better than queens and therefore disappointing, especially as the price suggested something more majestic

For garden lovers and those who enjoy great food in a country house setting a day trip to Gravetye is an experience to be savored. We had stayed overnight many years ago and always wanted to return. This time as we had rented a flat in London we took the Gatwick Express and rented a car and drove to Gravetye. After touring the gardens which are even more spectacular than we remembered we enjoyed a glass of wine while ordering lunch. Lunch was superb-both food and service. Then we settled down to coffee in one of the elegant drawing rooms. Don't plan on doing much else on a day trip to Gravetye as touring the gardens, lunch and post lunch relaxation will fill your day.

A special occasion place, wonderful for celebrating a birthday or anniversary (as we were). I would only go to for a special treat because it is expensive. Staff were friendly. Sommelier suggested English sparkling wine 'Bluebell' pre-dinner (no prosecco by the glass) and it was excellent. Three course a la carte dinner, beautifully presented, few carbs (good) and tasted sublime. A formal dining experience; wine poured for us, taken away from the table between replenishment of glasses. We were convinced that there was some wine left and asked 'have we finished it?' and were told that we had... hmmmm not so sure about that. Next time we'll ask for the wine bottle to be left on the table so that we can pour it ourselves.

What a wonderful experience. To celebrate an 18th and 21st Gravetye Manor is certainly the place to go. The service was outstanding, I dislike ostentation and grandeur for grandeur sake; this was certainly none of that. It was excellent food which complimented the walled gardens so well. The staff could not have been more accommodating and made it a superb memory. The head waiter has a gift of making one feel very at ease and welcome. For someone so young, this is certainly a talent that is exceptional (keep him!) Thank you all. Thank you to you all at GM (magic gardens!)

This was an exceptional experience for a special dinner celebration and would highly recommend Gravetye, with first class 5* menu our food was of the highest quality, the scallops were cooked to perfection and our steaks although each person ordered between medium rare to well done all were perfec. The wine waiters knowledge was first rate but delivered with class. My only slight criticism would be to have soft music playing as others diners voices would be obscured. All round would not hesitate to recommend Gravetye will return soon.

This is a fine dining experience in beautiful surroundings whilst at the same time leaving diners with the feeling that they have just had lunch/dinner in a good friend's home. We had scallops which were cooked to perfection, followed by halibut so delicate that it melted in the mouth. The apricot soufflé was fluffy and light - everything a soufflé should be. Coffee in the beautiful gardens completed a wonderful meal. The service was excellent; the staff charming and polite. From the moment of arrival and being met by having the car doors opened to the time we left was a relaxing, delightful experience.

I had not been here for a very long time and I always remembered it as something special and it certainly did not disappoint this time round. The lunch was superb and the staff exceedingly helpful and friendly. As I was driving I had one glass of the white house wine a Sauvignon Blanc and it was wonderful - in fact I was sorry I couldn't indulge in another glass! Gravetye continues to improve and now impress with the new ownership. The service is very friendly and attentive and the place is a wonderful haven. The kitchen is highly skilled and uses vegetables from the extraordinary walled vegetable garden here - worth looking at on its own account. The price of the set meal is attractive and the choice of three options reasonable. However, the wine-list is designed only for the mega-rich - which is a shame. Even modest examples from Chile and the French regions seem to be heading in a totally different direction from the pricing of the set lunch. This seems perverse and self-defeating.

We first ate at Gravetye Manor in April - we were back less than a month later! From beginning to end, the food was very well prepared, well presented and tasted fabulous. To top it all off, the cheeseboard was a revelation, with the majority of cheeses ones that I hadn't seen before (and all from the UK). It was a great evening and one that we will be repeating soon.

For my wife's 60th birthday this was the place she had decided I should treat her to. We'd previously had afternoon tea at Gravetye and enjoyed it so much that we now had to try dinner there . The staff were superb, they just want you to enjoy the occasion, and the meal itself was outstanding. I don't know whether to highlight the 'Glenarm' salmon or the Irish Beef but have to say for me the Gravetye Lemon Meringue pie takes the prize as best course of the evening.

We had the 8 course tasting menu with matching wines at £130 per head. The food was really nicely presented, well cooked and complimented at every turn by the wines. I'd say the food was of michelin star quality. For me a couple of courses were really outstanding - the foie gras was excellent, and the fish course, served with a poached egg and granola was a real delight. My wife though the lamb dish was superb and said that the white chocolate, green olive and lemon curd was the best desert she has ever had. Only slight shame was the heat - the small room we were in got very warm indeed - and it could perhaps have done with some very gentle background music to soften the occasional silences.

We had logistical difficulties so were unavoidably rather late and the staff were very relaxed and accommodating. And when the two separate taxis back to our car failed to turn up the manager drove us herself in the Gravetye Manor 4x4.

Ate at the Gravetye for the first time after an absence of several years. Had good memories of the Manor, the service, the menu and the fabulous wine list. We were very disappointed by the limited menu offering, which seemed extremely high priced for some very everyday foods - corn fed chicken on a £40 menu? We chose a la carte, but same over-priced everyday food. The lack of choice and extravagent pricing kills it for me. Wine menu was more limited than previous visits. The service was very good and the manor retains all its charms. Unfortunaely for me it has dropped down my list significantly.
