Diner Reviews
  • "One of my favourite curry places around - refreshingly different yet so, so tasy - always a winner!"
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "Slightly different to your average curry restaurant, the food is always spot on at Guglee - it's not the most incredible location or ambiance but certainly good enough for a cheeky curry!"
    dined on 02/05/2014
  • "late booking, good food, nice atmosphere, recommended"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The Guglee is not as special as the elaborate and attractively presented menu booklet might lead you to expect. Our food was "hot" but not particularly tasty or subtle. The rather too loud Indian "pop" playing throughout did not improve the ambiance and the loo was downstairs and approached via a somewhat scruffy corridor - so presumably no access for the disabled. The restaurant was convenient for the Hampstead Theatre but on a Saturday night was far from full so the residents of Swiss Cottage are clearly not fans and we would not go back."

  • "Felt the mixed veg platter was a little light on food. Lamb curry was a little bland"

  • "Imaginative, tasty and good value Modern Indian. Brightly coloured decor. A lot of unusual dishes and flavours. Food high quality, well cooked and decorative. Service professional and friendly. Will definitely be back - hopefully soon!"

  • "My brother and I had a fantastic meal at Guglee - in part due to advice on food choices from our waiter but actually I think everything would have been delicious. The food was well-cooked, flavoursome and imaginative and the staff were all that ideal combination - attentive without being intrusive. We agreed that we will go back soon and take our partners with us next time."

  • "Post theatre supper for seven and we all really enjoyed the experience. The starters were varied and delicious and we were encouraged to go off piste with our main courses thanks to the helpful prompting of the waiter. Really unusual and tasty dishes. Definitely worth a try."

  • "Ok place, food was reasonable, service was very good, but I thought the food to be on the dear side after you pay the added service charge which is not mentioned anywhere but added to your bill."
    dined on 18/06/2013
  • "The menu at Guglee is really interesting - some apparently familiar dishes and some I hadn't seen before - and the food is really delicious. The service is good but not over-attentive and it's good value overall."

  • "The food at Guglee is nothing short of spectacular. Most Indians taste the same to be but this stands out from the others as being extremely tasty with many unusual dishes on the menu. I would definitely recommend it and will most certainly go back there. Can't wait to experience that all over again!"

  • "The food at Guglee was excellent, and well presented. There weren't many others there because it was early, but the surroundings were pleasant and the service friendly. I will be going back."

  • "The standard of the food and the welcome received inside far exceeds what you would expect when looking at the outside. Great value for money - especially the lunch-time deal. Love the fact that they are also environmentally friendly."
    dined on 25/03/2013
  • "So delicious! It was very romantic and I really loved it and the recommendations of the staff were great. Will definitely come back."

  • "This is one of my favourite Indian restaurants. The food is very high quality and the taste is authentic. There are a wide range of dishes to choose from, especially for vegetarians. The food here always tastes freshly prepared, unlike at some Indian restaurants, which means that it is not the best choice for a very quick meal. The waiters are very friendly. The best thing about this restaurant is that they have Limca (an Indian lemon/lime soft drink) available."
    dined on 24/02/2013
  • "I went to Guglee with my family on a night where the restaurant had lost power. This was not their fault and to the restaurants credit, they managed to keep going. The food was good and the price was resonable. My only issues were that the staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves then serving us and even after the lights came back on we had to go out of our way to get their attention. They didn't clear our table after we finished and they didn't offer us any dessert menu. They were very quick to get us the bill and this spoiled what had been a good evening."

  • "There was 6 of us and we left stuffed. It was amazing food and really good value..."

  • "My husband and I are fans of Indian cuisine and were not disappointed by Guglee. The service was very good and the staff were knowledgable about the food and able to make helpful suggestions. We were encouraged to try an Indian Shiraz (Sula Vineyards) which was surprisingly good and went extremely well with the food - neither of us were aware that mainstream Indian wines existed. Delicious food and good value. Recommended!"

  • "Good place to eat pre or post the IMAX! Food is average, deco is good, decent value."
    dined on 27/10/2012
  • "The menu at Guglee has a lot of variety on it - and not just the standard Indian dishes that we're all used to; so we were delighted to be able to choose some different dishes and enjoy them. They really went out of their way to serve us quickly as we had a tight deadline, so this was really appreciated. Service was very polite to the point of almost trying too hard (we were asked three times during our meal if everything was OK) and we thought the meal was excellent value."
    dined on 26/10/2012
  • "The mixed meat platter was yum, so was the handy chicken Definitely would go again."

  • "Guglee is a great, family run, Indian restaurant with authentic food and passionate service. We have been numerous times and the place delivers consistently food in high quality with great flavours in a relaxed atmosphere. The street food options are fantastic, albeit priced at the higher end of the spectrum. The staff is very friendly and chatty. We enjoyed it every time we went."

  • "This past week we brought 2 different groups of 7 to Guglee. The first was a weeknight get together with friends visiting from the US. They wanted a casual place with great food to reconnect with London friends. Next, we had a group of 5 Americans visiting London this weekend. When they said that they had never had Indian food we knew we had to take them to Guglee! I cannot stress enough how great the staff is--so patient about explaining the dishes and ingredients. Everyone loved the street food chaat dishes. We then ordered 6 different mains shared amongst the 7 of us to let our guests sample all of the wonderful flavours. If you want fresh, flavourful Indian food served in a pleasant environment at very reasonable prices, try Guglee."

  • "Always the warmest welcome and the most wonderful food Guglee on Finchley Road remains my favourite Indian restaurant in London. They balance efficient service with a relaxing ambiance perfectly."

  • "GUGLEE - London The Indian food served there is served with a smile and just the right amount of spices to make it a very pleasant meal. We did not have the time to try the dessert but will be back for another try."

  • "Went to Guglee for birthday meal for 2. People who served us were pleasant and helpful when recommending food. Pop doms were very tasty however missed the mint dip. They were complimentary. Dips provided were good but I love the mint one best personally. Portions are not large, tasty with lots of meat. For the wine lovers, they have 2 indian wines to choose from. Would recommend. Place is 3 mins away from stations swiss cottage/ finchley rd. Will be back to try some other chef specialities"
    dined on 26/04/2012
  • "First time at Guglee and it could be a little local curry favourite - food was very good, service was very good. Recommend sitting at the rear of the restaurant though as the door opens frequently and gets drafty. The staff seem to be keen to get the front tables filled though despite the freezing cold!"
    dined on 05/04/2012
  • "Once more, Guglee did not let us down. Very tasty food and friendly stuff willing to give recommendations! Will certainly go back again."
    dined on 30/03/2012
  • "Very nice place for pre-cinema meal. Interesting, well-cooked food. Lovely helpful staff. Only slight problem was a broken loo-seat. Will definitely go again"

  • "Guglee in Swiss Cottage is doing something right! Besides serving really delicious fresh tasting food, everyone of the staff is friendly and helpful. Many of the dishes are spicy yet still very flavourful--the Murgh Xacuti, Chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Vindaloo are favourites of my "heat" loving husband--while the rich and delicious Chicken Korma is a favourite of mine. We also had a really tasty chaat dish on this particular visit. Highly recommended. Try it!"

  • "Guglee Restaurant on Finchley Road London serves some of the finest Indian food I've ever tasted. This is wonderful authentic food served by friendly and polite staff. I recommend you give it a try."

  • "Appetizers get 5 stars, but main courses only 3. The street-style appetizers were excellent, and a lot safer to eat than in New Delhi."

  • "Another solid meal at Guglee in Swiss Cottage - the food was perhaps a bit too spicy for my guests but I loved it! Will definitely be frequenting again."

  • "Had a very nice experience at Guglee on Saturday night. It's easy to see why it's so popular. The food was very good overall, with the Tandoori Salmon and the three different Chicken Tikka dishes standing out. I even had a glass of Indian Shiraz, which was a pleasant surprise. It has a real nice buzz and the service was excellent. I will be back."

  • "Guglee on Finchley Road never fails to delight. The light fragrant street food starters prepare the palate for the deliciously rich and complex main courses, murgh xacuti being a particular favourite. The Indian wines are perfectly matched to the food. My meal at Guglee would not be complete without the rose and honey kulfi which is the perfect palate cleanser."
