A word from Hakkasan Hanway Place

Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin starred Chinese restaurant was designed by the famed Christian Liaigre, the intricate wooden lattice screens, carved out of dark English oak, invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking.

Hakkasan Hanway Place have recently launched ‘Dim Sum Sundays’. Priced at £48 or £58 per person, Dim Sum Sundays is a weekly lunch event with music from Hakkasan lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12pm until 5.00pm.

The £58 menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne per person ( or a Magnum per 4 guests) and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

  • "A great atmosphere, with fabulous service and outstanding food. A little pricey for eating out every day, but most definitely recommend and well worth it for occasion dinning."

  • "Service was good, but the food felt very average and expensive. It felt like being in a canteen and nothing special compared to a normal Chinese."

  • "We had a very nice meal, one of my favourite spots every time I visit London. The dim sum and the cod were oustanding, sesame prawns and sweet and sour pork a little too ordinary for a place like this. The people set was a little less happening than usual, I guess the hype crowd migrated to the Mayfair one. Service very attentive, we even got a very professional Italian waiter."

  • "Amazing service, attention to detail - all GREAT :)"

  • "The good: Fantastic food and great drinks though a little on the sweet side. Good service. The not so good: Very odd wine suggestions with the food. Flat champagne (got a new glass when pointed out to staff). Cold coffee (got new cups when pointed out to staff). All in all we had a good experience, but a place that has a star in the Michelin guide shouldn't serve cold espresso and flat champagne in the first place. Also, the wine suggestions were far from what I have experienced at other restaurants. Still, this is place I would come back to, just spend a little more time with the sommelier when selecting wine."

  • "My partner and i with our 6month old baby went to Hakkasan for sunday lunch. Even before we arrived the service Hakkasan showed by offering to seat us at a 4person table to accomadate our pram was much appreciated and noted. We had the dim sum sunday menu that I have to say is extremely good value given the amount of alcohol that is included in the offer. The food too was excellent, although i did expect a bit from from the crispy duck salad, everything else was excellent. And no we were not pushed out after 2hrs, but in fact only had unobtrusive and efficent service for as long as we wanted to stay. All the staff there were very friendly and accomodating. I highly reccomend this resturant for foodies with babies and everyone else."

  • "We went to Hakkasan after the theater to enjoy some crispy duck. The duck we had was amazing amazing amazing! However, there was only one option and we had to order one full duck for two people. Needless to say, it was too big and we felt a bit uncomfortable afterwards despite the amazing taste of the food. Still, I definitely recommend it as it was delicious, juicy and served very nicely."

  • "The Hakkasan is pretentious, over-crowded and over-priced. We booked a table for 9.15pm on Saturday for 4 people. The Hakkasans' confirmation email states that if you're 15 mins late your table will be given away. We were 5 mins early but at first told by the receptionist that we were late, then when her error was corrected by another receptionist she offered no apology and we were then kept waiting for half an hour for our table. To make matters worse there was only standing place at the bar and the bar staff refused to add our bar tab onto our booking, so had to pay cash for our unwanted pre-dinner drinks. This is our third visit to the Hakkasan and our Last!"

  • "Hakkasan is a restaurant l have been to quite a few times and enjoyed over the last ten years, but this time l felt the food was lacking. l found it uninspiring and overpriced for what it was. The restaurant is very noisy and you cannot hear what your guest is saying! Two hundred pounds for 3 people without wine or desert is pricy which I would not have mind if l had a brilliant food experience!! The service in the restaurant was ok, we ask if we wanted drinks and our order came very quickly however it took twenty mins to take our order for food, bearing in mind Hakkasan only gives you a two hour slot on the table, lt's like there policy is 'get them in get them out' !"

  • "This is a great restaurant to treat yourself too and with a tasting menu at £35, it is also really good value for money. We had a brilliant time and loved the glamorous, modern setting as well as the food. Would recommend!"

  • "This restaurant serves delicious food in an terrific, New York style ambience. The service at the table is good but both times I have dined at this restaurant I have been profoundly put off by the rude ladies at the doorway who regard their list of reservations as if you are a leper and will never be allowed in. I have found them to be strikingly rude and quick to try and turn me away despite my reservations both times. This was particularly off putting before my dining experience had even begun. Fortunately the atmosphere, service and cuisine once inside made up for a lot but I'm wondering whether to ever bother again. There is too much fuss to even get into the restaurant. Not sure why."

  • "Outstanding food, ambience and service. Taste of Hakkasan menu really good value for this Michelin star restaurant. Surprised how big it is just of Centre point and Tottenham court road. Definitely return soon!"

  • "My daughter and I had a lovely lunch on Wednesday. We both had the vegetarian option and I can highly recommend it. We've eaten here before and will definitely return. Also the service was excellent."

  • "AMAZING! I'm out of superlatives. We went for the signature Dim Sum Sunday menu - half a bottle of champagne and two cocktails plus some of the best dim sum I've had in London. Great underground setting - the place is buzzing. Beautiful food, beautiful place and beautiful people. Great value for money too - have been to other Michelin starred restaurants and paid three times as much for no better. Will be going back again soon."

  • "We'd been recommended the Dum Sum Sunday arrangement and we were definitely not disappointed. Online booking was easy and communications about the booking went smooth. Food and the dining-experience lived up to Hakkasan's Michelin star-reputation. Service was quick, friendly, attentive and professional. The Dim Sum was simply delicious. Our favorites, in which we could 'taste' the M-star, were the crispy duck salad and the steamed dim sum dishes. The other dishes were also tasting great. For GBP 58 pp including two (excellent) cocktails and half a bottle of champagne pp (GBP 48 pp if you exchange the champagne for tea), we think that the Dim Sum lunch on Sunday is an outstanding deal. But don't expect to be doing much afterwards ;-)."

  • "Went here for lunch and had the Dim Sum Sunday option. Food was great (we loved the crispy duck salad, dim sum dumplings and dessert) and cocktails were nice too. Waiting staff forgot about our champagne but this was quickly rectified and we enjoyed this towards the latter half of the meal even though we ended up spending at least 3 hours instead of the usual allotted 2 hour period. The waiting staff were friendly, helped explain all of the menus/offers and were attentive throughout the entire duration of our meal. Will definitely go back for an evening meal and drinks. Fabulous!"

  • "We had the set menu, and it was amazing. It was very good value too. It included some of the recommended dishes you should have ie the duck salad, chilean sea bass, tea, cocktail etc - so delicious! Would definitely go back."

  • "Perfect again. Have been there before and will return again and again"
    dined on 17/08/2014
  • "Thoroughly enjoyable meal at Hakkasan - had the £118 tasting menu. The crab and duck to start were out of this world - could have happily had these all night long. The lobster, sea bass and vegetables that followed were delicious. The sea bass in particular was a taste sensation. Didn't really enjoy the mushroom stir fry but that's just personal preference, nothing wrong with the food itself! The Wagyu beef and peking duck were also amazing but by this point, we had had enough - so much food, too much for just two people really. Desserts were also good but didn't really register as we were so full! Excellent and extensive wine list, the sommelier was knowledgeable and very helpful indeed. Not a cheap night, but a lovely treat."

  • "And I would never go back. No only the food has become ordinary and boring. Now, the service is pushy and in a rush to make more money. it is like being in China's restaurants. I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years so I know what I talking about it. The food comes fast that it becomes adequate and just plain boring. I used to say that this place was one the best and creative in the London restaurant scene but cannot say it anymore. If you go for the cheap set menu maybe you will be happy as that's what is worth. We arrived at 8pm and were kicked out by 10. Spending almost 600 pounds on a dinner for 3 it cannot be called fine dining. So, anyone should go for the 3 meal special and you will be better off."

  • "Went for a girls night out and had a wonderful meal with excellent service and food. We had the taste of Hakkansan menus which was outstanding value. Amazing cocktails too!"

  • "we went to hakkasan for an early supper on a saturday night. We made use of the current "3 courses and a cocktail" offer with open table which was amazing value. Food, cocktails, service and ambience were all perfect. I would highly recommend!"

  • "The service and food was lovely. We had the taster menu as in sure what to choose but loved all of it. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Had a nice meal, food was good. We booked late so had to eat early !!! The meal was very rushed (obviously wanted us out) Went for a cigarette (or vape) after the main course When returned they had served the deserts including pouring my hot sauce over Ice Cream !!! - They replaced the pudding, so I eat alone for that one !!! Not really a Michelin Star experience at all I;m afraid Would not return."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "Cocktails were fab - especially the desert pairings - as were the desserts. Food selection was nicely contrasted, with good flavours. Only thing that I would consider to be not Michelin standard was the dim sum wrappers, a couple of which were a bit soggy - had been either overcooked or left hanging around for a bit before serving."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "We were a group of four this visit and two last time. Both meals were absolutely outstanding. It's expensive but inspirational and tasty Chinese food like nowhere else."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "We took the signature menu at £60 and it was worth the price ! We had an amazing evening there and we definitely come back again ! Waiters and waitresses were really kind and thoughtful. We went there for a romantic dinner and the atmosphere was perfect !"
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "We had dinner at Hakkasan Hanway Place and ordered the dim sum platter and duck salad as starters, followed by several meat and seafood dishes. I was so disappointed with the food. Being Cantonese myself having grown up with Cantonese food, this was probably one of the worst of the upscale Chinese restaurants I have been to. The food, for Hong Kong standards, was very average, especially the dim sum. No, actually all of it. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, but the price doesn't justify the quality at all, and one can find this type of food at every corner in Hong Kong. Royal China serves better food and charges half the price. Service was very good and friendly though as was the ambiance."

  • "Best dimsum ive ever had. we did the 35/head deal and it was incredible."
    dined on 13/08/2014
  • "First the smell of the food as it is brought to your table, makes you want to try everyone's dish. Then when you actually do, it is every bit of perfect as you want it to be. Will definitely go here again."

  • "Excellent food and friendly staff. Extensive wine menu with affordable choises as well as high level selection. Perhaps a bit too high sound level on the music?"
