A word from Hakkasan Hanway Place

Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin starred Chinese restaurant was designed by the famed Christian Liaigre, the intricate wooden lattice screens, carved out of dark English oak, invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking.

Hakkasan Hanway Place have recently launched ‘Dim Sum Sundays’. Priced at £48 or £58 per person, Dim Sum Sundays is a weekly lunch event with music from Hakkasan lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12pm until 5.00pm.

The £58 menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne per person ( or a Magnum per 4 guests) and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

Diner Reviews
  • "My daughter and I had a lovely lunch on Wednesday. We both had the vegetarian option and I can highly recommend it. We've eaten here before and will definitely return. Also the service was excellent."

  • "AMAZING! I'm out of superlatives. We went for the signature Dim Sum Sunday menu - half a bottle of champagne and two cocktails plus some of the best dim sum I've had in London. Great underground setting - the place is buzzing. Beautiful food, beautiful place and beautiful people. Great value for money too - have been to other Michelin starred restaurants and paid three times as much for no better. Will be going back again soon."

  • "We had the set menu, and it was amazing. It was very good value too. It included some of the recommended dishes you should have ie the duck salad, chilean sea bass, tea, cocktail etc - so delicious! Would definitely go back."

  • "Perfect again. Have been there before and will return again and again"

  • "Thoroughly enjoyable meal at Hakkasan - had the £118 tasting menu. The crab and duck to start were out of this world - could have happily had these all night long. The lobster, sea bass and vegetables that followed were delicious. The sea bass in particular was a taste sensation. Didn't really enjoy the mushroom stir fry but that's just personal preference, nothing wrong with the food itself! The Wagyu beef and peking duck were also amazing but by this point, we had had enough - so much food, too much for just two people really. Desserts were also good but didn't really register as we were so full! Excellent and extensive wine list, the sommelier was knowledgeable and very helpful indeed. Not a cheap night, but a lovely treat."

  • "And I would never go back. No only the food has become ordinary and boring. Now, the service is pushy and in a rush to make more money. it is like being in China's restaurants. I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years so I know what I talking about it. The food comes fast that it becomes adequate and just plain boring. I used to say that this place was one the best and creative in the London restaurant scene but cannot say it anymore. If you go for the cheap set menu maybe you will be happy as that's what is worth. We arrived at 8pm and were kicked out by 10. Spending almost 600 pounds on a dinner for 3 it cannot be called fine dining. So, anyone should go for the 3 meal special and you will be better off."

  • "Went for a girls night out and had a wonderful meal with excellent service and food. We had the taste of Hakkansan menus which was outstanding value. Amazing cocktails too!"

  • "we went to hakkasan for an early supper on a saturday night. We made use of the current "3 courses and a cocktail" offer with open table which was amazing value. Food, cocktails, service and ambience were all perfect. I would highly recommend!"
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "The service and food was lovely. We had the taster menu as in sure what to choose but loved all of it. Can't wait to go back."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "Cocktails were fab - especially the desert pairings - as were the desserts. Food selection was nicely contrasted, with good flavours. Only thing that I would consider to be not Michelin standard was the dim sum wrappers, a couple of which were a bit soggy - had been either overcooked or left hanging around for a bit before serving."
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "We were a group of four this visit and two last time. Both meals were absolutely outstanding. It's expensive but inspirational and tasty Chinese food like nowhere else."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "We took the signature menu at £60 and it was worth the price ! We had an amazing evening there and we definitely come back again ! Waiters and waitresses were really kind and thoughtful. We went there for a romantic dinner and the atmosphere was perfect !"
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "We had dinner at Hakkasan Hanway Place and ordered the dim sum platter and duck salad as starters, followed by several meat and seafood dishes. I was so disappointed with the food. Being Cantonese myself having grown up with Cantonese food, this was probably one of the worst of the upscale Chinese restaurants I have been to. The food, for Hong Kong standards, was very average, especially the dim sum. No, actually all of it. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, but the price doesn't justify the quality at all, and one can find this type of food at every corner in Hong Kong. Royal China serves better food and charges half the price. Service was very good and friendly though as was the ambiance."
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "Best dimsum ive ever had. we did the 35/head deal and it was incredible."
    dined on 13/08/2014
  • "First the smell of the food as it is brought to your table, makes you want to try everyone's dish. Then when you actually do, it is every bit of perfect as you want it to be. Will definitely go here again."

  • "- good Cuisine fusion - good food - enjoyable - a little expensive I'd tell - skilled staff"
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "Excellent food and friendly staff. Extensive wine menu with affordable choises as well as high level selection. Perhaps a bit too high sound level on the music?"

  • "We went for the Dim Sum Sunday menu with cocktails and champagne as a Birthday lunch. The food was absolutely delicious (very well presented) and the ambience was just right. The staff were extremely attentive without interrupting. Overall it was an amazing experience."

  • "Amazing food, ambience and very good value for money. We went on a Sunday for Dim Sum Sunday. They have a set menu which is outstanding value, 6 course, one cocktail to start, half bottle of champagne and a cocktail to end the meal, all for £58 pp. Food ws amazing. Definately one to go to."
    dined on 10/08/2014
  • "Cant fault the Sunday service, all expectations were met and we left very satisfied (and full of incredible food!) certainly recommend as a weekend treat."
    dined on 10/08/2014
  • "We came here for a birthday treat and had the £70 signature set menu which we saw on the website however it was not offered on the menu that night but after enquiring they happily gave us that option. The food and service were amazing and would recommend."
    dined on 09/08/2014
  • "First time back in this restaurant after a gap of around 10 years and still an excellent dining experience. Had a 3 course set menu deal at £35 pp which, when you factor in the cocktail, was very good value. Served with sharing in mind the dim sum were some of the best I have ever tasted, main course served with rice included prawns, sea bass, duck and merlot flavoured beef rib - all were very good apart from the duck which, to my taste, was slightly grainy and overcooked but that really was my only gripe. Desert choice was fantastic and needless to say delicious. Atmosphere was lively with a good buzz and service was very attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommended!"

  • "I visited Hakkasan three times so far (London & Abu Dhabi) and the food, service and ambience is always top notch. Good deal for lunch where you can taste various platters for reasonable price."
    dined on 09/08/2014
  • "We came to the restaurant on Friday evening and loved the cosy intimate ambiance. The service was efficient and professional but the best part of our experience was the food, which was heavenly. We had the £60 tasting menu and loved every dish we were served."
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "I booked this a surprise for my Wife's 40th Birthday, and WOW it was the best choice. The whole evening was a fantastic experience, and the food was out of this world. Service and attention to detail was just perfect. The atmosphere was alive and so enjoyable. After a fantastic meal, our desserts arrived - with a hand written chocolate Happy 40th on my wife's plate - just the icing on the cake to a great time. Cant wait to return, and enjoy this again."

  • "One of the best places I've gone to eat. Food was terrific, atmosphere was amazing and service impecable. Great for a romantic meal!"

  • "Intense flavors, buzzy atmosphere, attentive service...wonderful experience."
    dined on 05/08/2014
  • "Dark decor oozing atmosphere. Polished staff. But too noisy and tables too close. Some dishes excellent, but quality uneven, perhaps because of number of diners. Michelin star may be in jeopardy."
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "My second time at Hakkasan, and my partner's first, and I was just as impressed as the first time. The food is amazing and more than justifies the cost, with the service faultless."
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "Pros: Cocktails fantastic Champgane seemingly never ending (1/2 per person) Dim Sums out of this world Main dishes delicious Cons: Bit tight on the seating Light bites course rather bland and dissappointing Womens toilet messy and no paper - probably staff changeover time Pros far outweigh the cons and would highly recommend for a boozy but deleicious Sunday lunch"
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "3 of us booked in for the £58 set menu. The selection was varied and tasty. The duck salad was fantastic and the sizzling beef also excellent. Plenty of food to share and the drinks were lovely. Definitely recommend a visit here for Dim Sum Sunday"
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "The food was tasty and well cooked. Had prawn toast as a starter which I would recommend, followed by the Wagyu Beef which was very tasty. One issue was that I found the music rather loud and unsuitable for a restaurant. I don't think loud music creates an atmosphere in a restaurant, as it just makes it hard to hear each other. Also at times I was left wondering if I was eating in a nightclub rather than a restaurant, given the style of music being played. The food also took a while to arrive, and went cold quite quickly. The rice arrived a while before the actual main dishes, which I found quite unusual. However the service was good, if not a little robotic."

  • "I have been to Hakkasan at three different occations, and the first visit was amazing. The next time everything seemed a little busy, hurrying us to finish. Our expectations are still high, but this time we actually was a bit disappointed. The logistics were complicated and not at all as smooth as before. The dished arrived in quite a hurry with little explanation and advice. And the main course arriving before everyone had finished the starter. The dumplings were very good, but the peking duck was merely ok. The Hakkasan is still a place to visit, but compared to the "early" Hakkasan, these days it has more of a factory feeling to it."
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "Duck was just ok, but seafood! Cod and sea-bass never disappointing! Also dumplings pork chops from starter menu are must try!"
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "This review is actually for Hakkasan Bruton.Food excellent, service too, prices eye- rather than mouth-watering,noise level from supposedly background,in reality foreground, music, just too much."

  • "Best restaurant in town. The location has a special atmosphere, the service is perfect, food is best delicate."

  • "You get exactly what you pay for here - excellent quality food, good service and a good atmosphere."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "Designed by famed designer Christian Liaigre, it looks like a posh nightclub, wooden screens and latticing made of dark English oak, to separate the bar and the diners. The vibe is very good, partly to the DJ who uses Buddha bar type of musing to create a buzzing atmosphere. Service is friendly but somewhat slow and distracted, which shouldn't be the case in a Michelin * restaurant, but the food is amazing. Of course the signature dishes like Peking duck with caviar and grilled Wagyu beef with king soy sauce, but do try the Jasmine tea smoked chicken! Great wine list, apart from the very good cocktails. Overall, and experience to remember."
