A word from Hakkasan Hanway Place

Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin starred Chinese restaurant was designed by the famed Christian Liaigre, the intricate wooden lattice screens, carved out of dark English oak, invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking.

Hakkasan Hanway Place launched ‘Dim Sum Sundays’ in 2013. Priced at £48 or £58 per person, Dim Sum Sundays is a weekly lunch event with music from Hakkasan lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12pm until 5.00pm, and from October 26th the menu is available up until 6.30pm.

The £58 menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne per person ( or a Magnum per 4 guests) and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

The food here is fantastic. The service was average at best (bringing drinks we didn't order, leaning over diners, forgetting an additional order). The payment machine failed during first payment and the restaurant then charged for the meal twice which I'm yet to see sorted out.

Absolutely stunning food - cannot fault it. Service on the other hand is a bit inflexible and disjointed. Multiple waiters, servers, cleaner up-ers. Once settled in though, great experience. Not as formal as some restaurants. My pet hate of this restaurant are the bouncer and clipboard girl at the entrance. Making it seem overly pretentious. Really puts me off the initial experience to the restaurant.

The food was outstanding, but the ambience was not. Very noisy and dark, some of us had trouble reading the menu because it was so dark and we could only talk to the person sitting next to because of the noise. Expensive drinks, but good value for money on the food.

Hosted family party of 6 to celebrate daughter's 30th birthday. Great choice of cocktails and we all chose the £60 fixed menus and good Burgundy wines. Atmosphere totally ruined when waitress stated company policy was we had to leave the table as time was up. So no time for coffee and after dinner drinks. Made us all feel like a commodity for their benefit. Yes they state in the reservation about maximum time and if they are going to be rigid they should advise, say 30 minutes before and not just at the end. We wanted to enjoy and relax as a family not spend our time clock watching.

It was my bf birthday and decided to finally try Hakkassan after few recommendations from our friends. It was an amazing experience, the service was superb and the food delicious! My bf got the dessert with a candle and "happy birthday" written on the plate. He was so surprised and loved it! We can't wait to come back for more! For me, the dessert was the best I have ever had! :)

My girlfriend and I had a nice meal at hakasan, but you kind of expect a bit more. The best things were the desserts and you dont go to a fine dining chinese reataurant for great western desserts. We had the taste of hakasan menus, and whilst pleasant it wasnt wow. Most disappointing were the portion sizes. I ended up having to order an additional main off the a la carte, which was much bigger. Could imagine that this place would be great with a group of friends all sharing mains and enjoying the innovative cocktails on offer.

Went on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. The atmosphere and setting never fail to disappoint me. The food was exceptionally good and so was the service. My only slight grumble was that they had run out of my soya milk for my cappuccino, and that their allergy menu is quite limited.

Weekday lunch time dim sum menu is fantastic. Food was delicious especially the sesame prawn toast and scallop dumplings! Booked online and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, without any prompting or reminding they brought ice cream with a candle for my partner. Our waiter Vincenzo was extremely friendly and very helpful in explaining what was what on the menu. Even the maitre d' wished him happy birthday (tiny things make a difference). Definitely heading back for their Dim Sum Sunday special.

We had the taste of Hakkasan Menu which is great value for great food. We enjoyed our starter and main very much. You can then choose any dessert from the menu. We had the chocolate bomb (I forgot its exact name). In comparisson to the rest of the menu it wasn't as refined. It really was a "bomb" and it filled me to bursting. I don't really like leaving the table feeling absolutely full. But that's the only remark I can make on an otherwise perfect dining experience.

Hakkasan has been on my "list" for a little while now, but as my bf is not that keen on "posh restaurants" it's taken a while to get around to it. The food was amazing - very tasty and good sized portions. The service I found a little odd. We were seated at the bar to have a drink as we arrived a little early and promptly ignored for 10 minutes. We were seated at a table which was awkwardly lined up over the crack between 2 sofa edges, which was impossible to sit at comfortably, & although I commented it was uncomfortable to the waiter, it was ignored and I was left to perch awkwardly. I would have liked someone to have checked if we wanted to add any veg to our meal - but we only realised when our meal arrived our mistake.

It's cool, funky and modern but also quite Hipp. Food is fantastic. Service is also very good. My one complaint is our table was booked for 6.30 and they put pressure on us to leave at 9. We needed to go anyway so no issue but if I hadn't I would have had a row with them as the booking didn't mention this.

My boyfriend's birthday dinner was an amazing experience from the delicious, flavourful food to the attentive staff and chilled ambience. The vegetarian options were very enjoyable and I showed it by cleaning my plate! Although a neighbouring diner knocked my glass of water on me with her giant handbag, the dining experience was still one to remember. About 4 members of staff came rushing to me without being called for, and assisted in cleaning up the spill and offered me hot towels. Without them my temper would have been uncontrollable and the whole evening would have been ruined. Thank you all for making our evening a special one to remember. We will definitely be coming back again.

Second time at Hakkasan. First time was for dinner where I thought the ambience was better than for lunch ie more vibrant, hence down rating ambience this time. Couldn't fault service and food was great. Perhaps our expectations were a little high in expecting a taste extravaganza. Thought it expensive. Would go again, but would try somewhere else in between like the Cinnamon Club. Overall very good though.

We've been to Hakkasan Hanway Place before and the food is continually excellent for both meat/fish eaters and vegetarians. There's a great buzz to the place and, whilst the prices are high, it's worth it. The service is hit and miss - I had to ask for a drink 6 times before someone took the order and brought it. No apologies were offered. They're a little disorganised and not particularly friendly.

We dined here for dinner and liked the buzzy ambiance and friendly service. We opted for the Taste of Hakkasan menu where you get a starter and main from a set menu and can choose dessert from the main menu. On the whole, the food was was a bit hit and miss. Starters were good, mains were average at best and desserts were very good. Portion sizes of the starters and mains were also very small so you may need to order some side dishes if opting for the set menu.

Love this place. The food was excellent and the staff very polite but we felt rushed. The starter arrived before our cocktail which was too soon. I guess this is because we were eating from the set menu. We didn't want to rush so we asked for the main course to be delayed as we felt like we were on a conveyor belt. It came pretty promptly so there was not much delay if any. We then asked for some time before our dessert was delivered and again, it didn't feel like we got it. Really great food but it would have been nice ti be listened to and to be asked if we were ready for the next course. This ruahed service let down an otherwise amazing meal.
