A word from Hakkasan Hanway Place

Hakkasan Hanway Place is the original Hakkasan restaurant. This Michelin starred Chinese restaurant was designed by the famed Christian Liaigre, the intricate wooden lattice screens, carved out of dark English oak, invite discerning guests for a unique dining experience with contemporary cuisine from Chef Tong Chee Hwee. The menu has a strong Chinese ethnic identity with an ethos of Cantonese cooking.

Hakkasan Hanway Place have recently launched ‘Dim Sum Sundays’. Priced at £48 or £58 per person, Dim Sum Sundays is a weekly lunch event with music from Hakkasan lounge DJs, available every Sunday from 12pm until 5.00pm.

The £58 menu includes a cocktail from Hakkasan’s award-winning list to start, followed by a half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne per person ( or a Magnum per 4 guests) and concludes with a digestive cocktail to enjoy with dessert.

Diner Reviews
  • "Every aspect of the meal was fantastic - food, service, atmosphere and great value too!"
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "The food was quite good but did not enjoy my meal one iota as the digital, extremely loud and extremely repetitive music made me want to get out of there ASAP! Major migraine trigger! I would never go back nor recommend this to anyone I like. Too bad---good food but not enjoyable."

  • "I booked a table for my wife and friends for her birthday as a surprise last week, did not expect to get the feedback my clearly upset wife gave me on her return. 1. I confirmed that a menu without MSG would be available, the party was told that only a small number of items would be made without MSG and that all the sauces were purchased so nothing could be made fresh! this meant she was given a choice of 2-3 dishes 2. The table that had been given was next to some sort of air vent near a sewer as the entire time my wife and friend were subjected to a dreadful smell 3. The staff asked on at least 4 occasions if they had finished every dish and were made to feel they should eat quicker. Not what you expect from Hakkasan"

  • "I took my fiancée here for her birthday. From the minute you walk through the front door the staff are friendly and helpful. The food was amazing and we had a really nice time. Would definitely recommend and hope we go back one day."

  • "We've been here for the second time and again, we loved the food and the stuff was very friendly."

  • "This is by far one of the best restaurants I have been too. The food was amazing and so was the service."

  • "Delicious food and outstanding service. Would definitely recommend to anyone."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "The food is delicious, if overpriced - ex. dim sum starter (8 dumplings @ £15, but yummy). Asparagus w/ Lotus root came with NO lotus root but was still great. Food presentation also worth noting. Service SLOW at best, w/ such charming features as a waiter who took our empty glasses but never came back for the stack of dirty dishes that sat for over 10 minutes - we eventually asked for dishes be removed; that server, rather than taking the stack with him, left and came back with a tray (hardly needed for 4 starter plates). So it's a mixed bag. Especially recommended: Floating Goddess, a delicious elderflower martini. If you can stomach £40 for a small piece of sea bass, it's perfection. Skip: the braised short ribs starter - too dry."

  • "1st time visiting Hakkasan after a recommendation from a friend. Myself, my partner and a friend chose the signature Dim sum Sunday menu and it was incredible. Excellent value for money, £58pp for half a bottle of Louis Roderer, pre and post meal cocktails and 6 courses. The staff were exceptionally attentive and left you to enjoy the food as well as each other's company whilst making sure your glass was topped up with the bubbles! The food was exceptional, superb ingredients not messed around with too much and left you wanting more - if only I had room for more food! Personally, the duck salad was one of my favourite dishes, along with the china black post dinner cocktail. Will definitely be revisiting!"

  • "Had the tasting menu which was wonderful and a snap at £35 each for premium food"

  • "I really like Hakkasan, the food is amazing. However service sometimes is very bad. This time I booked table for 930 but we got seated only after 40 minutes. I believe that it is unacceptable."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "It is way too crowded and noisy, not a pleasant quiet experience at all. They had me waiting for 35 minutes, which, for this type of restaurant is completely outrageous. I had to complain and then in 20 seconds I had a table. The food was good and the table service impeccable. They really started on the wrong foot."

  • "The interior, music and the clientele were quite trendy and young. Basically it was like eating at very fancy bar. Even though I love the music but adding with huge crowd, it was basically too loud and noisy to really enjoy a good meal or to have a conversation. I personally want to be able to relax a focus on any meal that I have paid more than 30quid for it. Due to the noise I felt that I as though I was eating at the market instead of a one starred Michelin restaurant. Don´t get me wrong, I think that would be a great place to celebrate a bday or something in a group. Conclusion; good place to get fuel before a night out, but not for a food experience cuz the food was quite average."

  • "We tried this restaurant after reading how fabulous it was online.. We weren't disappointed.. We tried the Taste of Hakkasan menu, and it was delightful. . Would recommend it to anyone with a special occasion to celebrate.."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "This is about the 8th trip to Hakkasan, and not once have I or anyone else in my party been disappointed which normally ranges from 2 - 10 people. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and the food was exceptional. We had the £48 set menu which came with a cocktail, tea and 6 course menu. For a high end restaurant I feel the price is not bad for what you get."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "A group of five of us went for the dim sum Sunday lunchtime deal they do. 65 quid a head including tip isn''t cheap, but this really is top end Chinese food - the crispy duck salad was great, the dim sum were all top notch, the sea bass was bang on... it was all perfect. With half a bottle of (decent) champagne per person and a couple of interesting cocktails too, I think this is probably one of the high end bargains of London. We all thought it was brilliant."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "My partner and I had dinner at Hakkasan on a Saturday evening. The venue is very funky, all mood lighting and cool music. We were a little early and had a drink at the bar which has a great list of proprietary cocktails. Our bartender was very helpful, the service was excellent and the cocktails delicious. When we were seated we were sat together on a little banquette facing into the restaurant which I thought was a great seating arrangement - it meant we could hear one another over the noise of the buzzy restaurant. The food was fantastic but there was no time between courses so it felt a little rushed - it's also very expensive for what it is, we spent over £200 for two people (with no wine) and you could spend a whole lot more!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "I have been to many Chinese restaurants but this was the best by far. The four of us in our party thoroughly enjoyed the experience"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Eating at hakkasan is always a garanty! Food service andd atmosphere were outstanding"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "Hakkasan is a very different kind of restaurant but its very good. The dim sums are very very good."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "The food was excellent though portions were a little small for hungry men. The service was fine, but a little unfriendly. The only real objection to this restaurant is the gloomy ambiance - it is very dark and not really a place where you would choose to spend a summer evening. One final unfriendly touch - we asked for a taxi home and were told to go upstairs to the door porter. The door porter told us he couldn't help. So after a very expensive meal we were left to find our own taxi - not good enough."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "It felt like I was having an intimate dinner with our own private staff. In a room full of other customers my drink was never empty and plates were never left for more than a few minutes. With the atmospheric lighting, moody but non intrusive music and incredible food; highlights being cod with a champagne sauce and the juciest, sweetest lobster I've ever tasted, the evening was truly exceptional."

  • "We went for a birthday and it was perfect! I have a nut allergy and had notified them when booking and they adapted the items on the Vegetarian set menu for me to eat. They were very nice and even wrote Happy Birthday on the dessert."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "We had been recommended Hakkassns by a friend and we were looking forward to an enjoyable meal unfortnately it was completely spoiled by an Indian family who had no control over their children who behaved as if they were in a kindergarten we complained to one of the members of staff who said they'd tried to calm thr children with little or no effect. We have lived in many countries where children know how to behave in restaurants and also the parents are aware that there other people without children in the restaurant trying to have a enjoyable meal I feel there should be an area in the restaurant that should be allocated to families with small children so as not to take over the ambience of which is a very nice restaurant!!!?"

  • "It is a nice restaurant but a bit of a conveyer belt . We were told on arriving what time we had to vacate out table ! That kind of deflated the experience . Food is good but it's top end pricing so I'd expect it to be good . A bit cramped and the bustle if the business took away from the ambience . I feel it's quite overpriced . Wine menu is expensive . Macaroon desserts are AMAZING - a must !"

  • "Fantastic cocktails, brilliant ambiance, amazing food.... Price tag to match ! However we had a table booking between 8 and 10pm, we weren't seated until 820pm due to the table not being ready, we arrived promptly at 8pm, we were quite annoyed when at 930pm we we're put under pressure to order dessert quickly as we needed to leave the table at 10pm, sorry but not the kind of service I expect from Hakkasan, very embarrassing as we'd taken guests with us !"

  • "I took my husband to Hakkasan Hanway Place for dinner and he loved it. The service was amazing. Initially, I got lost, decided to call and they were very polite even if I was raising my voice due to the noisy place i was. The service was fantastic, the minute you sit down, one of the service people comes to place the table cloth on your lap. The service staff are always looking after you. Loved the food! The Atlantic halibut with spicy Szechuan chilli pepper was beautiful, Loved the Roast chicken in satay sauce. My husband loved it and I even got a big kiss for it. Been there twice now, will surely be going back. Worth every penny!"

  • "Excellent service and ambience, food was great as well but I was expecting that little bit extra to take the flavours to the "wow" level."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "The food was cooked to perfection but only a 3 out of 5 because it used to be so much better in the past. It is a comparative rating so not entirely fair but I had high expectations following previous visits. Staff and drinks were great as always; the wine from Santorini was brilliant."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "excellent service. Conor was our waiter- absolutely amazing. ambience was great and waiter very patient with us considering a lot of the people in our group was very late"

  • "Had the prawn toast and the beef in merlot, 2 of my favourite dishes in London. Visited the branch in Las Vegas and was distraught to find both taken off the menu - please keep these in London at all costs!"
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "My boyfriend and I had the Dim Sum Sunday menu with Champagne this weekend and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is stunning and the food was delicious. The steamed and fried dim sum were fantastic and the macarons were delicious - particularly the white pistachio one. Fairly expensive for one meal but it really was worth it for the quality of the food and the drinks that we got with it."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Very good dim sum for those who prefer more hip and sophisticated surroundings. Service is good. Dim sum standard varies some times but never sub-standard. Food is between average for some to very very good. Love the non-alcoholic cocktails All in all a very pleasant experience and definitely a family favourite. A good alternative to the more traditional chinese restaurants with quality chinese food."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "My son and I had the dim sum Sunday lunch. It was very good indeed, and there was enough food to fill my son up completely. we left feeling happy, relaxed and full."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Food was really good as well as the service but very busy and quite loud. Tables are pretty close together so it you don't have a lot of privacy. Good vegetarian options."
