A word from Hawksmoor Guildhall
Awarded 'Best New Restaurant' at the 2012 Tatler Restaurant Awards, Hawksmoor Guildhall is a stunning restaurant and bar in the heart of The City.
It provides 'the best power breakfast' (GQ Magazine) to London's financial capital and is perfect for meetings and entertaining clients. The 160-cover restaurant is renowned for serving dictionary thick steaks from Longhorn cattle traditionally reared by multi-award winning butchers The Ginger Pig, dry aged or at least 35 days and simply cooked on a real charcoal grill.
The wine room is big enough to conduct tastings of the extensive list of wines and ports that are available by the glass, and the bar is manned by some of the best bartenders in London serving classic cocktails and original drinks.
There is also a private dining room seating 22, as well as a table for 10 in the main dining room, which serves the exclusive beef tasting feast menu.
Hawksmoor Guildhall is also available for exclusive hire.

Had the in laws over from Canada and Mexico who claim they've never had good steak in Britain. By their own admittance, they can no longer make that claim. Fantastic service too. First time at the Moorgate restaurant, and my only gripe about the restaurant is that when full it's difficult to hear each other speak over the noise of fellow diners.

  • Didn't live up to expectations

After hearing so many positive reviews about the Hawksmoor I had high expectations. Upon arrival it had a relaxed feel and resembled a grand hall. The service was friendly but when the food arrived it wasn't as amazing as we thought it would be. The chicken was a bit dry and my partner felt that the steak wasn't as nice as others he's had elsewhere - but that could be because the cut he asked for had sold out and he had to select another. However, I would recommend the macaroni cheese which was very tasty.

Went on Friday night for first time again in two years. Shared a very ordinary chateaubriand, supposedly one of their best steaks. Tough, flavourless. I'm bothering to write this because at my last visit prior to this, I had to send back a lukewarm, undersized ribeye and one of my guests sent back an overcooked tasteless fillet. Hawksmoor churns out indifferent steaks with no love or skill. I think Sainsbury's Taste the Difference is better steak. That's how boring hawksmoor is.

Great value for breakfast and I found the noise/acoustics much more bearable in the morning, I find that the noise level at lunch or dinner is not conducive to being able to hear people within your group when you do not want to talk to loudly. Overall the food was excellent, the booth was a perfect seating place for what I wanted but the service seemed a little slack...servicers seemed to be more interested in serving the big tables and we didn't have a dedicated server, that was the only think that let them down.

This was the second Hawksmoor restaurant I've been too, the first was Air Street, and they both give excellent service. The steaks are fantastic and the sides make great accompaniments. The restaurant is a little on the noisy side so I wouldn't choose it for an romantic occasion but that's not a complaint. The atmosphere is really adds to the experience.

Have been meaning to go for breakfast at guildhall for years but as it's only on week days I just haven't managed it until now but it was truly worth the wait. The breakfast to share is incredible with such delicious quality meat and an enormous portion. Trotter baked beans are a highlight. It's a really wonderful way to pass a morning with a friend. Skipped starters and ordered 800g of T-bone with field mushrooms, creamy spinach, and beef-dripping chips... Utterly divine: the meat was medium rare to perfection and the sides were delicious. Washed down with a lovely Italian red @ £32.50. Some room left for crumble and custard, beautifully crafted. Great meal, great atmosphere, great service. Can't wait to go again!

We had a late lunch on a Friday here and although the setup is more like a beer cellar than a steakhouse, the food was great. my colleague had a steak with mac n cheese and i had the burger with beef dripping fries (nothing is dripping on the plate dont worry) and all was delicious! Maybe one of my favourite burgers at the moment. Defintiely recommend! Go for the bar area seating if you want a more cosy experience

I absolutely love Hawksmoor, and the Guildhall venue is great. The bar and main restaurant areas exude stylishly pared-down chic in the evening. This visit, I went for the much-talked-about breakfast and, although the food was stellar and the portions enormous as always, there was something about seeing the venue during the day that I found very unsettling. During the evening, the scuffed floors and tables and the ruddy wood seats lend everything a rustic charm, however under the harsh glare of the morning (as the venue is underground, lights are turned up to operating room levels), this same effect is hard to find endearing, and the whole thing ends up feeling like a cafeteria rather than the best steak restaurant I have set foot in.

Our experience was, unusually, poor on account of both rib-eye main courses coming out not as we ordered them (rare not medium-well etc)which meant waiting for new steaks whilst our sides went cold. However, the very attentive and apolegetic waiter arranged fresh sides, complementary drinks, deducted both steaks from the bill. As this was a b'day treat for my friend, he then brought a pudding with a birthday candle.A group of drunk City yobs had arrived on a nearby table and were braying and hollering such obscene language at each other that the waiter was then apologising to us and other diners for these fools. Fortunately we were leaving, but the experience overall wasn't great and did not leave me wanting to return very soon.

Had a working lunch at Hawksmoor Guildhall, I would guard against this as it's super noisy - which is great if you want somewhere with some atmosphere, but it's not ideal for a first meeting with a potential new client. That aside, food was really good, a was the wine, as was the service. Only negative I would have is I ordered the rib-eye, medium rare, however with rib-eye, you need to cook things longer for the fat to render properly, so although they gave me what I asked for, I would have preferred if they had advised I had it medium as it probably would have been tastier. Everyone else had Fillet and that looked and tasted amazing. Cheese board was excellent, and very good value. Would definitely visit again, might pass on the rib-eye

I went as a group 2 males and 2 females on a business lunch. The décor and general ambience, although very acceptable, is quite business-like and masculine. There must have been 100 other guys there and about 5 females. The girls felt a little uneasy being in such a male-dominated environment. If every day is like this, then weekday lunchtimes this is definitely a place to go with the boys. Food was very good - as it should be for the prices they charge - ouch! Don't go near if you're a veggie.
