A word from Hawksmoor Seven Dials
Winner of the Time Out Award for 'Best New Restaurant 2011', Hawksmoor Seven Dials has wowed fans and critics alike ever since it opened in 2010. Tucked away in a quiet street, the restaurant is loacted in the old Watney-Combe brewery and has retained some of the building's original features.
The 142-cover restaurant serves generously sized steaks, simply cooked on a charcoal grill, using beef from traditional British breeds supplied by award winning butchers The Ginger Pig.
Situated in the heart of London's Theatreland, Hawksmoor Seven Dials also has express pre and post theatre menus. The bar is ideal for casual burgers and hot dogs or for some of the best cocktails in London, including old school drinks and new.

We booked in for the express menu as a la carte was a bit out of our price range. The rump steak was lovely and all done exactly to order. The sides were really impressive especially the sweet potato. We had to eat early to get the express menu so the ambience wasn't quite there but definitely worth it.

The food in the Hawksmore is fantastic. The steaks in particular must be among the best in London. The service is attentive and friendly and it all makes an excellent dinning experience. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I treated a friend for a birthday catch-up and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. The team were genuine and sincere in their approach. The food was divine (the only criticism was that there were quite a few items unavailable on the menu). Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Lush retreat in the centre of town.

Every aspect of the evening was great. The steak and all the trimmings were delicious, and if it's meat you want this is five star choice. The service was another highlight. The Sommelier was really helpful and knowledgable, as was our waitress. But, it all comes at a price, so it's best to go for a special occasion when you won't mind pushing the boat out.

The special treatment my partner and I were given for our anniversary really made the night and we will certainly be visiting again!

Booked a table for my husband and I. He loves steak and it was his 50th birthday. The restaurant has a upmarket, smart appearance. In saying that it has an informal atmosphere. Staff were attentive and professional. A good range of choice on the menu. The star of the restaurant is the steak We both enjoyed our meal and my husband praised the quality of the steak. It's not a cheap venue but we knew that

As big steak dining fans, myself and my husband were looking forward to visiting Hawksmoor. One of our favourite steak places is Gaucho so we're were looking forward to expecting something along the same lines of quality and service as this. Unfortunately this was not to be. Greeting by door staff was luke-warm at best. We were shown to our table, eventually had our order taken. Starters of belly ribs and scallops were nice, but nothing special. The mains, a Rib-Eye and a Fillet, were mediocre at best, we've had better at national steak chains. Service was poor, without a check-back during the meal to see how things were. For the price, we would have expected something a bit special, at least excellent service. Hugely disappointed.

Wonderful lunch here on Friday. This was my second time at this restaurant and it did not fail to completely satisfy me. The entrance is not the easiest to find, but you are led down into a cavernous well ventilated basement with a funky bar and a lovely dining area. Service was smart, pleasant & efficient and the sommelier seemed to know what he was talking about. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the meal was excellent. Most highly recommended - this is now officially one of my favourite places to eat steaks in London.

I've been to Hawksmoor Spitalfields and really enjoyed it, so I was disappointed with Seven Dials - but I think it might have been a one off as the whole operation is very well done. The starter of potted mackerel was fantastic, slightly too rich to finish. The main event was obviously the steak, but this is where I was let down. I asked for the ribeye, which to my knowledge is usually cooked medium, as it's a very fatty cut. The waitress insisted it was best medium rare. I should have just kept it at medium, because while it was clearly quality meat, the fat was undercooked. I would have thought the staff at Hawksmoor could be relied upon to give good advice. Also the steaks, and the chips, were incredibly over-salted.

As usual outstanding steak, the Porterhouse is a real treat, fantastic cocktails. Just a bit disappointed that having booked well in advance our 7.30 booking was confirmed twice by email but when we got there it was down as 9pm. Quickly rectified but other Hawksmoors have phoned and confirmed. In my view the service was fine but at Air Street and Guildhall it was exceptional, we were so well looked after making those more special experiences. Also preferred the ambience at both those places but that's personal preference perhaps.

After reading good reviews and recommendations online, a party of six of us ate Sunday lunch at Seven Dials last week and were really disappointed. The quality of food was absolutely not worth the very expensive prices - the meat was over cooked and tough, and the roast potatoes were not very nice at all. The service was ok but food was not - wish we'd gone somewhere else.

This meal was for a special occasion for my boyfriend and I and it certainly was a treat! The cocktails to start were great (particularly their own ginger beer cocktail), we both had a fillet steak and some sides and the peppercorn sauce was great! Some gin and tonic sorbet finished the meal off nicely and we treated ourselves to a whisky and an armagnac too which were very enjoyable. It took us a little while to get our bill at the end but a really great experience!

We opted for the deal menu as we had a theatre booking. We all the rib eye steak as a main & even though they were cooked as requested I was disappointed as my steak was full of sinew, unlucky I guess as my mum's was perfect. The service was slow at times and definitely didn't warrant the 12.5 % service charge that is added on. Would probably go another time just to see if things are different.

Our first visit! But it won't be our last. Would definitely recommend the chateaubriand. We had 750 gms shared between two people and it was more than enough. We had starters too and struggled with desserts but really there was too much food overall, so for the future we would only have the main course. The place was very busy but the staff were very attentive and gave good advice and recommendations. Loved it.

We booked this restaurant as part of a weekend in London to celebrate my girlfriends 50th birthday. Great atmosphere even though we were fairly early (pre theatre) and service was, as ever, exceptional with assistance in chosing food and accompaniments. The only criticism I would have is the lack of hand pulled beer and pumped lager.

We have been fortunate to have travelled extensively for both business and pleasure over the past 35+ years and have eaten in many high, medium and low end restaurants and we can honestly say the steaks we had - rib eye and fillet were most probably the best steaks we have eaten anywhere. The waiter was courteous and knowledgeable and when asked about the provenance of the 'meat' was able to give us all the information required. He was also able to give us advice on the menu including starters. The restaurant has a great "buzz" and clearly caters for all ages. A very good and highly recommended experience!

By far one of the best steaks I've had. Better than other leading restaurants in London. It's not cheap - a three course meal, with sides, water and 1/2 bottle of wine will come to nearly £100 per head. But a great experience and food.

Had a deal from the set menu, smoked trout for starter was nice but a little salty, rib eye for main was ok, a little bit fatty/chewy but still tasty. Definitely had better steaks elsewhere though. Beef dripping potatoes were fantastic! Service was very good, I would return but probably wouldn't order from the set menu again.

Close to many of London's top theatre's and with an excellent 2 or 3 course set menu for pre-theatre, we had a great meal here. Cocktails were very expensive but the food was excellent value though the menu was a little limited with only 3 choices for each course. We will definitely go to Hawksmoor 7 Dials again.

The food was very nice and we liked the decor/ambience, even if it wasn't what I expected having seen the menu and prices. The waiter was really good, advising on the different dishes and wines which we liked. Just two issues, I think it should have cost less. I knew the prices before hand having seen the menu, but I don't quite see the justification for them being a little high having now been there. Also I mentioned on the booking form that it was a special occasion, as it had a specific box asking me to say so and nothing came of it, so I'm not sure what the point of asking me was. Still a good place though, the issues are small.
