A word from Hawksmoor Seven Dials
Winner of the Time Out Award for 'Best New Restaurant 2011', Hawksmoor Seven Dials has wowed fans and critics alike ever since it opened in 2010. Tucked away in a quiet street, the restaurant is loacted in the old Watney-Combe brewery and has retained some of the building's original features.
The 142-cover restaurant serves generously sized steaks, simply cooked on a charcoal grill, using beef from traditional British breeds supplied by award winning butchers The Ginger Pig.
Situated in the heart of London's Theatreland, Hawksmoor Seven Dials also has express pre and post theatre menus. The bar is ideal for casual burgers and hot dogs or for some of the best cocktails in London, including old school drinks and new.

Diner Reviews
  • "One of the best Sunday roast in London. The beef was so tender and juicy. Our server was really friendly and kept refilling our water for us as well, even when we didn't ask her to do that. Would definitely go back again."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious. The Hawksmoor lives up to its reputation as the best steak place in London. The veune is fabulous and the service perfect. Whilst it is not cheap it is well worth the money and all four of us had a great evening. I would recommend the salted caramel rolos as a little sweet to finish off the meal."

  • "The best steak I have ever eaten. Catered well for dietary requirements. Service outstanding."

  • "This is the 5th time I've visited the Hawksmoor- and I always go to the Seven Dials venue. It's a beautiful restaurant- very classy with a good atmosphere. The service is brilliant and the food is always tasty. Of course you go for the meat which is always great but we felt this time we really paid over the odds for not a huge amount of food. We really couldn't justify visiting for anything other than a very special occasion...."

  • "Can't fault this place at all! As soon as you walk down into the lowly lit bar you know you're in for a treat. The atmosphere is inviting & romantic and the decor (exposed brick, wooden floors and lots of candles) is lovely. We were greeted by friendly staff and even though its obviously a foodie place suited for a bigger budget, the waiters were dressed informally and with plenty of beard/trouser braces/tattoo combos! If you need help figuring out the steak cuts & weights they are super helpful & tailor the choice to suit your tastes/how you like it cooked etc so that you get the best out of the food. The fillet steak was amazing! Had it with the beef dripping potatoes which are a must! Definitely worth the money. Pretty special place!!"

  • "First time at Hawksmoor, for my brother's 60th birthday celebration. Some of the best meat I've ever eaten (tried the chateaubriand and the rib-eye). Great ambience and excellent informal service. A la carte expensive, but ok for a special occasion. Fixed price menu looks like very good value. Highly recommended."

  • " Hawksmoor Seven Dials is a regular haunt for a pre-matinee lunch on a Saturday. The set lunch is incredibly good value for money and I have never been disappointed."

  • "It was very busy and very very hot, It felt like London underground in summer rush hour.. As per normal the food was excellent however the service wasn't quite as good as previous visits"
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "This place is great for a special occasion, it's pricey, but the food is amazing! We shared the porterhouse steak (I've had the chateaubriand before - also good) and had 2 sides each and a dessert. Our waitress was lovely, another waitress who helped her bring our food was rather rude, and could have looked happy to be there, thank goodness she wasn't waiting on our table the rest of the time. Apart from that, I'm sure we'll be returning in the future."

  • "First time visited great meal and service but very noisy on a Thursday evening as the place was heaving. Well trained server who explained the menu much of which is priced per 100g for the steaks, three of us shared a chateaubriand of 850g and one had a sirloin on the bone shared sides. With wine and starting drinks and desserts the bill was over £300 for four, not the cheapest place but we will be back."

  • "Always wanted to go to the Hawksmoor, heard so much about it, so as we were going to the theatre, and it offers an 'express' menu option we booked. The staff were very casually dressed, which surprised me for that kind of establishment, but their service and attitude were outstanding! The menus options for the 'express we're fine, something for everyone. I had the fish, and asked for head, tail, and bones to be removed, no problem. The sea breem was delicious! My partner had the rib eye, best steak he has ever had at a restaurant! The price was good, but like all restaurants they tuck you up on the price of drinks - but that part was our choice. We will be back !"

  • "The service was ok, staff were polite and friendly but not particulary attentive. No-one asked if the food was ok and given it's quality I'm not surprised. As for the food;the chips were stale, the roasted mushrooms were old and clearly re-heated. We ordered green beans and received green cabbage. The starters were cold and had to to be sent back and the onion gravy was missing. The meat was ok, my fiend ordered a well done fillet ( Yes, I know) nonetheless it was so dry, it seemed to me it had been sitting around for long while and was constantly being re-heated. Definitely not impressed with this resturant. Considering the quality of the food it was seroiusly over priced. In short, find somewhere else."

  • "I had another amazing meal at the Hawksmoor. The quality of the meat is unsurpassed. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. We will definitely be back for more."

  • "We had a very good meal, entertaining some friends visiting from the United States. The steak, cocktails and sides were all excellent. You definitely get what you pay for. The restaurant and bar are attractive and the waiting staff are friendly and attentive. They have an offer on Mondays where you can bring your own wine. The set menu is also very good value for money. This was my third time dining here and I would come back and recommend it to all my friends."

  • "I love Hawksmoor as a treat. I took a friend for the first time and he loved it too. We both had the sunday roast and there was plenty there and the beef was amazing. I'll definitely be going back."

  • "This restaurant was recomended to me, the food was delicious I would definitely visit again. One gripe though the seating offered to couples is very closely positioned and felt a little uncomfortable, I would only dine again as a group !"

  • "Server was attentive and friendly, we chose the express menu for a pre theatre dinner experience. Our starter of potted mackerel was fantastic, Cesar salad was good. The side of chips and herb salad were also nice. The mains were slightly lacking. We chose the ribeye and and the sea bream. The steak was very tough and fatty, with a good deal being inedible. The sea bream was overly salted and oily. For a popular steakhouse we expected a decently done steak, considering this is their specialty. We are aware that the ribeye cut isn't the greatest, but perhaps the menu needs to be reconsidered for entree quality. Drinks were pricey but good."

  • "From the moment we walked in the service was amazing, our waiters was great with her recommendations. The food itself was fantastic. I can't wait to go back"

  • "Been to Hawksmoor Seven Dials a number of times, this time it restored my faith - Hawksmoor do the best steaks in London, but last time here I was disappointed with the service - not so this time! Hurray for Diego! He decanted the wine without me asking (note to Hawksmoor - tell your staff that decanting wine is not just for sediment!). Everything was spot on!"
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Great food as always, the rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection. I do favour the Air Street branch of Hawksmoor over this Seven Dials venue, principally because the lack of windows at the Seven DIals branch makes it feel a little claustrophobic and affects the ambiance. The Air St branch feels roomier, not least beacuse of the windows along the side wall, plus it has a nicer bar."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "I went to Hawksmoor for pre-theatre and was slightly disappointed. The steak was good and well cooked but came on a plate totally bare apart from the steak - so sign of ant garnish etc. Also there were no juices from the steak, which I thought was strange and made the meal a little dry. Would hopefully be better if dining off the a la carte menu but the express menu wasn't great value for money."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Great meal, excellent service, nice crew. Salmon and beef were just perfect. Big choice for wines. Yes, it's not cheap, but what a pleasure. Is there a bad point ?? Yes : the place is so noisy..."

  • "Shared a bone in prime rib with friends and the meat was beautiful. Lovely charred taste to it. Service could have been slightly quicker when ordering but other than that we were happy. Make use of the £5 corkage on your own wine on a Monday."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "My partner and I had dinner at Hawksmoor on our anniversary. As we had a show to catch (and are a young couple on a budget) we opted for the pre-theatre express menu, which we found to be of outstanding value for the quantity and quality of the food. Service was incredibly friendly, efficient, and unpretentious. We both had the ribeye for our mains, which was expertly cooked and melted in your mouth, and was accompanied perfectly by the peppercorn sauce and beef dripping potatoes. We left extremely full and happy, and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for a special night out!"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "The venue was classy, but we turned up in jeans and t-shirts and didn't feel out of place or awkward, the restaurant has found the right balance between posh-restaurant and laid-back eatery. The staff are very friendly, without being pushy. The starters were good size, not too big but more than just one mouthful. This place is great if you like steak, many to chose from and you can get it cooked exactly as you want it. The 55 day aged rump steak was the clear favourite. We enjoyed the range of sides, macaroni cheese and beef-fat roasted potatoes were the clear winners. The 'home made' salted-caramel roll's were just amazing. This wasn't a cheap place to eat, but you get value for money and I'd happily come here again. Highly recommended."

  • "I had been to Hawksmoor once before for a fillet steak along with some sides and dessert. Everything was full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and the service was wonderful! We returned on Sunday to try the famous roast and it was hands down the best roast I've ever had. The beef practically melted in your mouth, carrots and greens cooked to perfection, potatoes the perfect crispy/fluffy ratio, and the Yorkshire pudding was huge but so delicious I couldn't stop myself from finishing it. My only gripe (and it’s a small one down to personal taste)was that the gravy was extremely thin and could've been a bit heartier/thicker, but the flavour was gorgeous despite this. Amazing yet again and will be back to try breakfast next! Top notch!"

  • "We had to entertain a fastidious guest - he ONLY eats roast beef on a Sunday and is generally very critical of restaurant offerings - but Hawksmoor Seven Dials came through with flying colours. Our guest was impressed with his roast beef and the rest of the party all praised their various choices. In addition, the atmosphere was great and the service friendly and attentive. No, it's not cheap, but what do you expect? It's a steak house. Considering the offering though, it offers good value, particularly if you share one of the huge steaks - something they actually recommend on their menu."

  • "We visited Seven dials for the second time for Sunday lunch, this time with our new baby. Firstly the Sunday roast is simply the best!! The meat is so tender, the Yorkshire pudding is huge and there's a good amount of veg and roast potatoes. I also like the gravy jug for each person on the side. This time we somehow managed to squeeze in space for puddings which were all delicious. I particularly loved my choice of chocolate tart with salted caramel. Secondly in terms of being family friendly the staff were very accommodating and I felt very relaxed having our pram next to the table and being able to feed her at the end of our meal when she woke up. Would definitely recommend to all my friends and family."

  • "Excellent steaks - some of the best you will find in London. Everything we had - from starters to sides to dessert to wine - was absolutely delicious. Great service as well. Hawksmoor is worth every penny, but I'd save it for a special occasion because it certainly can break the bank!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Great steaks and great choice too. Very nice service and lovely location. Well worth going."

  • "Cesar salad starter not much to write home about though the main and dessert were divine!"

  • "I had Hawksmoor recommended to me by a couple of people and finally got to visit . Wow, they served up the best tasting steak I have ever had. Fantastic. Nice relaxed atmosphere, attentive service without being intrusive. Will go again once I've saved up :)"

  • "This was a meal with my family to celebrate my 40th birthday and we had a great night at Hawksmoor. I'd been before and had a great experience and it was even better the second time around. The abience in Seven Dials restaurant is special, very relaxed but the staff are proffessional and attentive. We had a nice couple of drinks at the bar to start things off, when we sat down at the table the waitress spent time explaining how the the steak weights and measures worked as it can be quite difficult to figure out how much to order! The food was abosolutely delicious and cooked to perfection and the side orders were just enough. Overall a great experience and I'm already looking forward to going back again soon! I would highly recommend!"

  • "4 of my 5 dinners complained the rip-eye was fatty. Ive dinned at your sister restaurant Spitalfields with the same express meal. Totally different experience - Chips were much better - they were actually trippled cooked - not here. Steak wasn't as fatty and the sauce wasn't too runny.. Put me off hawksmoor."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "The food and service were excellent. Our visit was (slightly) marred only by the location of our table - it felt like we'd been put in the naughty corner, in a dim and dark part of the restaurant. Admittedly we booked quite late, but there appeared to be a number of other places we could have sat. Otherwise, a good visit. Hopefully we'll be back again."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "We had wanted to have a meal at Hawksmoor for ages and recently took advantage of their early bird express menu. Great value on the 2 or 3 course meals, including their renowned steak, along with starters, sides and dessert. The atmosphere was more laidback than we had expected - contemporary rather than stuffy. The chairs and booths are designed for lingering and we didn't feel rushed, despite being on an 'express menu'. No hard sell on drinks or extras, and the bar is very nice for a drink or dining, with a wide range of cocktails and spirits at fairly on-par prices. The service was of a higher standard than many central London restaurants - attentive, friendly, sincere and swift. We are planning to return for another special occasion!"

  • "A lovely venue and the Chocolate and salted caramel tart was to die for, though overpriced and for the level and standard of service we received the service charge was ridiculous!"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "It was the 2nd time I ate at The Hawksmoor. I love the pre/post theatre meal promotion. I had the rib eye steak, which was a 250g serving, and was more than enough! Then I had the delicious peanut butter shortbread which is fabulous. I really enjoy coming here, and will definitely book again."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "Probably the best steak I have ever had, the bone marrow gravy is so good! Cocktails are good. Great service, great food, great wine! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a good quality steak restaurant. Only slight grievance is that the lobster on the surf and turf was rather small but it tasted great and complemented the steak beautifully."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "We've been to Air Street before but never here. Both venues very similar (Air Street a bit bigger). Cocktail choice huge, but went for something not on menu. No questions asked it was made up OK. Food was fantastic as usual with friendly attentive service. Room was a bit noisy, but when you get used to it, it adds to atmosphere. Obviously it was a bit more expensive that average restaurant, but Hawksmoor is not average! Would definitely recommend."
