Winner of the Time Out Award for 'Best New Restaurant 2011', Hawksmoor Seven Dials has wowed fans and critics alike ever since it opened in 2010. Tucked away in a quiet street, the restaurant is loacted in the old Watney-Combe brewery and has retained some of the building's original features.

They're service was top notch, and food was ordered and delivered very prompt. I would recommend going in during the evening as we were there at around 10.30pm and the waiter made sure nothing was too much as well as explaining the menu.

This is the 2nd time I have taken my wife to Hawksmoor for her birthday and once again it was excellent, perhaps a little too pricey for "just a meal out" but absolutely perfect for a special occasion. Wonderful food, service and choice of steaks. We both love going here.

I came here for a special evening and the food did not disappoint the atmosphere did. The place was not overly busy, there were plenty of free tables but the place was the building has got this ability to echo everyones conversation. Multiplying everyones conversation plus the resonating conversations bouncing off the walls made it near impossible to have any level of conversation. It really felt like a 'eat your food and go' kind of restaurant which was not what i was expecting for the price. In order to have a conversation with the person less than 1m away we had to lean in and pretty much shout there was just too much noise.

As soon as we entered the restaurant we were made to feel welcome and catered to immediately. The starter was beautiful with generous portions, me and my gf shared. The main was out of this world and the sides went with it perfectly, we couldn't finish it and was even given a doggy bag to take the remainder home. When booking I made them aware it was my gf's birthday and for dessert they brought out her tart with a candle in it and gave us a glass of champagne on the house. The service was amazing from our waitress, and she was incredibly accommodating. The atmosphere was very relaxing, almost like being on holiday. We will definitely be back again

Recommended by daughter and her friends and my wife and I had a very good meal after a cocktail. The Quality and cooking of the steaks was excellent and the sides were worth the cost which sadly is rare in many places. Not a small bill but worth it and service throughout was both efficient and friendly.

I booked this restaurant basically based on the reviews, TimeOut presence, etc... but it was disappointing from a gastronomic point of view. The guy with beard offered a fab service (he is the only one), the Sunday roast was not good enough - the Yorkshire pudding was big, but overcooked and tasteless, the potatoes were dry, the greens were unexpected in a negative way and the meat portion was not large enough. I really was expecting something better... I was inviting a very special person!

I took my elderly parents to London, their first visit since the 1960's & was naturally anxious that nothing would spoil the day. I have been to Hawksmoor several times before & was again delighted with the friendly service, relaxed atmosphere & of course the excellent food & wine available. My parents, who bless them, were well out of their comfort zone initially, were shown every consideration by the attentive & personable staff, thus quickly settling down into a really enjoyable family meal. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the toilets received high praise from mum, who has a keen eye for such detail! I would therefore have no hesitation in recommending this as a family lunchtime venue, which is easily accessible for the infirm.

Went here for a great roast dinner. Incredibly tasty with a nice selection of sides to compliment the meat. Only downside was the size, for £19.50 it was a big portion. I would rather spend £15 and have less food and have the option to add on a pudding for £5. My friends both chose puddings but it was a whole tart! Again, plenty for two and at £8 it wasn't what I would call great value. That said for a special occasion, its a great place to go and treat yourself just make sure you go there when you are hungry!

I have been meaning to go to hawksmoor for years and was really disappointed. The food was good but if you take the prices they charge into account, you could not describe it anymore than average. Plenty of salt to try and create some flavour. The waitress was lovely but had little passion for the food. It felt like eating in one of the chain restaurants that have consumed our high streets and I was expecting something more.

I'm not normally interested in steak restaurants, but made an exception for hawksmoor. It was everything that you could hope for. Of course the steaks were good, but all the starters, sides, sauces etc were brilliant. Nice room, good service. Pretty expensive, but I guess that's no shock.

We had a fantastic evening here. We didn't even bother with a starter and went straight for the rib-eye which was HUGE and some chips and creamed spinach. We happened to go on a Monday when they have a £5 corkage which was brilliant. We had a little table tucked away in a corner and I loved the dark wooden decor. Our waitress was called Erica and was SO friendly and helpful. We couldn't manage dessert, though we did see some fantastic ones on the table beside us - the sticky toffee looked great. Two glasses of prosecco appeared as a little happy anniversary gift. It really made our night special. I totally recommend and will be back again for sure!

We had a wonderful lunch on Sunday. Super ambiance and the staff were outstanding. Food was delicious though as two of our party were vegetarian we'd have appreciated a little bit more in the way of options. I know it's all about the meat but in groups there's often someone who doesn't eat meat.

We made a last minute booking for Sunday lunch and were delighted we had. The staff were faultlessly friendly and helpful (our waiter, James, particularly good) and the food didn't disappoint. Steak is obviously the specialty of the house (we had chateaubriand, which was perfectly cooked and of superb quality) but there is enough on the menu to give non-steak eaters a choice. We will definitely visit again.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both ended up with terrible steaks. I ordered a fillet steak and my boyfriend ordered a sirloin. My steak was so tough and chewy that i couldn't eat it. My boyfriend's steak was full of gristle and was the worst he had eaten. This was such a disappointment as i had read the reviews and thought that this could possibly be one of the best steaks. We waited a long time for the meal to come and it certainly wasn't worth the wait. The restaurant removed my boyfriends steak from the menu, although i feel that they should have refunded us the whole meal. I will never eat here again and it upset me as i wanted to do something nice for my boyfriend and i feel that they spoilt the evening.

Went to have Express Lunch deal with friends before our musical. Creamed spinach was our favourite! The serving of bone marrow was shockingly generous. The onions-pesto spread on the bone marrow was a tad overwhelming otherwise would have done an excellent job complementing the richness of the marrow. Wasn't too impressed with the mackerel. The rib-eye steak was tender and juicy! Never a disappointment. As usual the service was brilliant - the staff were ever so friendly. Always a lovely experience dining there...

A cool location just of the beaten track. Waiters were brilliant, attentive, knowledgable without seeming stuffy and when it comes to quality of food this place rocks. The starters were classic well made with great flavour, For mains we ordered steak the fillet was amazing and the sirloin huge. We ordered more sides than we needed and whilst my girlfriend had wine I had a tankyard of great beer which suited the meal perfectly. Only two downfalls the door host told us to go downstairs after explaining we had a booking and after a few minutes we had to go and ask about our reservation. The price is the other, it was exspensive but after great service, good food and a pleasant communal atmosphere it was totally worth it.

The food was exceptionally good - especially the Chateaubriand which we shared between three of us. It was expensive but worth it for a special treat. The wine list was also expensive and one of my guests who is a wine dealer did not think that there was anything on the list which was particularly good value. The bill for three of us with three bottles of wine was about £330.

We went for an early dinner before seeing a show nearby. Great service and the steak was the best we've eaten. We tried the cocktails which were also very nice but lots of people brought their own wine which is permitted on a Monday for a reasonable corkage charge of £5. Highly recommend this place.

As part of a birthday weekend we eat here on a Monday afternoon, still quite lively & the place has a good feel anyway but I think it would be great at busier times. The waitress was very helpful, with both our choice of main, sharing a Chateaubriand and she advised against starters unless we were really hungry. It worked out very nicely, the fillet was cooked perfectly and arrived on a hot 'plate' already sliced (she had given us the choice) along with three sides which was plenty for lunch for both of us. The macaroni cheese was especially nice in its basket with cheese bubbling over the sides. Good listing of Wine, not too expensive (£40 Chablis) and a nice little touch at the end with a candle & 'Happy Birthday' on the dessert plates.

We arrived at 5pm for our pre Opera booking. We were asked to wait in the bar for our table to be readied. 25 minutes later, we were shown to our table. When we tried to order Chateaubriand, the waitress informed us that the only pieces they had were far too big for us and we should order something else. A bit surprised we went for a T-Bone as this was recommended. It was now 5.50 and we need to be leaving the restaurant by 6.30 at the latest. Food arrived and was frankly awful. We asked for the steak medium, it was rare and very fatty ...we ate as much as we could as having to send it back would have meant us being late for our evenings entertainment. The bill was £241. (wine £100) No starter, no dessert, no coffee.
