A word from Hawksmoor Spitalfields
Named after Nicholas Hawksmoor's Christchurch Spitalfields, just down the road, Hawksmoor Spitalfields opened in 2006 to rave reviews, reigniting London's love affair with steak. Hawksmoor Spitalfields is an unpretentious, quality obsessed steak house, serving exclusively British beef from traditional breeds, supplied by award winning butchers The Ginger Pig. The 115 cover restaurant also has an extensive wine list featuring favourite small producers and big vineyards alike. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I really can't fault Hawkesmoor. Great food, service and atmosphere."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Amazing restaurant with knowledgeable, helpful staff. The porterhouse steak was to die for and even though we had the 900oz not a scrap was left. The sides were perfect with plenty of choice to keep everyone happy. The deserts were amazing I personally loved the peanut butter shortbread, it's a must try if you can fit it in after the main course."

  • "Don't need to go anywhere else in London for a great steak in my opinion Even the wife ate the lot and that is saying something All in all a great meal"

  • "We went to celebrate my wife's birthday having wanted to visit Hawksmoor for many years. It didn't disappoint. Quite easily the best steak that we've ever had along with informative and friendly service all helped to make a very special day."

  • "Had wanted to come to Hawksmoor for years amd finally came for a celebratory lunch. Had a prime rib to share and all I can say is that it was totally awesome. Service was efficient and friendly, triple cooked chips heavenly. Hawksmoor did not disappoint."

  • "Boyfriend's birthday. Arrived an hour early for our reservation, sat at the bar, drank really great cocktails. Bar staff and waiter were friendly and attentive throughout. I mentioned that it was his birthday; we chose just to have a glass of dessert wine instead of dessert, and they brought out three of their amazing salted caramel rolos on a plate with "Happy Birthday" on it in chocolate. Really nice touch. Thank you Hawksmoor! Has to be the most expensive meal for two that I've ever had, but that's what I get for ordering velvety smooth chateaubriand. Absolutely flawless. Really enjoyed it. Think my bf is still smiling too."

  • "Awesome steak restaurant. Quality was really very good, although you do pay for it. We took advantage of their £5 corkage on a Monday offer, which was great as we had some lovely wines with our steak!"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Turned up on the day to be told the power had been turned off to the whole street, had a few local restaurants that the lady on the front counter recommended but not of a similair vein to the Hawksmoor so not really any sort of consolation. My name was taken so I would recieve an apology email which never materialised, poor effort on all parts considering my mother travelled from Coventry for the food."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Steak is good, if slightly overcooked when medium-rare. Presentation and information is excellent. Cocktails are delish!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Hawksmoor Dinner was superb. Can only recomend to ask the waiters about the best combination they could suggest. Excellent for a dinner for two!"
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "We went for a bday meal on a monday night and took advantage of the £5 corkage on mondays which makes the price of the meal much more affordable. I would have probably given the value 3 stars if drinks would have been included. The waitress was fantastic, knowledgabe and welcoming. Steaks were great as were the sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter shortbread. Definite place for a special occasion otherwise for regular night out might work out quite expensive."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Obviously the steak was fantastic - but in fact, all the food was very very good. We had a lovely waiter who was very courteous and explained exactly which steak I should go for (not the most expensive!). My partner thought his steak was a little salty (though it didn't stop him eating it) and to apologise, the waiter took off the cost of all three of our deserts. In addition, we were there for my Dad's birthday, and they bought his dessert out with a lit candle and had piped "Happy Birthday" on the plate. Little touches like that prove why this is a great chain. Was expensive, but worth it I think."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Excellent services, particularly as one of our diner's was gluten free - the staff were really friendly and helpful. Delicious meal and highly recommended."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "I take a lot of clients to steak restaurants and this looks like it will be the new favorite. For some reason it has come out better than the one in Air St or close to Guild Hall, not sure why though."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Of all the steak restaurants at your disposal in London, Hawksmoor continues to hold its own. With a range of sizes and cuts of top quality beef, Hawksmoor is a firm favourite for steak foodies the world over! The cocktail list is extensive, as is the wine list. Try a shaky Pete's ginger beer to wash down your exemplary meal - you won't regret it!"
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "Great starters and steaks. Service was attentive and helpful. Was recommended some nice wines"
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "I had lunch at Hawksmoor Spitalfields with a work colleague. Normally going to Hawksmoor I tend to order the larger steaks off the blackboard but this time we ordered off the menu, a rib eye steak for my colleague and a bone-in sirloin for me. The food was amazing and the service excellent. The one thing I would say, and it's not a criticism, is that Hawksmoor is too good to try and compress the experience into a reasonable timeframe for a business lunch."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "I was looking for an excellent steak restaurant, I don't think you would be able to find better. The meat was fantastic quality and very reasonably priced for what you got. The servers were both attentive and very knowledgeable about the product. Felt extremely welcome and would definitely go back"
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "Fantastic Chateaubriand!!! So much so my wife now refuses to eat beef/steak anywhere else. Excellent wine and pre/post meal cocktails from an extensive and fun cocktail menu."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "need to bring back the mash and gravy ! Otherwise perfect"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Food was OK, but pricey. Far too noisy, with little space between tables. Have been to better steak restaurants."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Noisy but fun restaurant with great food. One of the best steaks in London,"
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Service excellent, had a brilliant night out, thank you."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "The cocktails were outstanding. The servers made fabulous pairings. The atmosphere was really relaxed. Would definitely return."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "An excellent, British, grass-fed 1.3kg rib shared between two of us, served by a friendly, chatty waitress, complemented by some lovely wine recommended by the wine waiter in a completely un-stuffy atmosphere. The meat here is always superb, but the starter of Brixham crab was generous, and very tasty. Overall, highly recommended"
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "An excellent meal from start to finish. The food, service and drinks were all top notch and I would highly recommend anyone into great food visit at least once. The steak was quite possibly the best Ive ever eaten, the cocktails sublime and inventive and the sides were fantastic."
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Took my husband to Hawksmoor for his birthday. Had a lovely evening. Truly amazing steak, cooked to medium rare perfection."
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "I took my brother and father here for a combined treat and we had a wonderful time. Great food and wine. This was the second time I have visited and it won't be the last. The only thing I didn't like was the end of my steak :)"
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "Our first visit to Hawksmoor - we tried their early evening £26 three course menu. Starter of potted mackerel, main of 250g rib-eye and dessert of sticky toffee pud - all delicious and beautifully and promptly served. The rib-eye was cooked perfectly and quite big enough - the a la carte portion is 400g at £30. Definitely a good value offer and happened to work well with our evening plans. Lived up to the Hawksmoor's reputation and look forward to visiting again."
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "As expected, the quality of the steak was outstanding and they know enough about it to prepare it simply and to its best advantage. Pleasantly busy for a Monday night, and this didn't even seem to be because of the wine club (which is spectacular value)"
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "Went for lunch and as it being a Monday wasn't full, service was very helpful and prompt and the recommendation for the sauces was gratefully received. Portions were huge and the bone marrow and onion was exquisite. The steak was perfectly cooked, didn't expect anything less. Ordered the cheesecake for dessert which was not available but my server have me the option to choose another dish from the full menu. The roasted peaches were to die for. Overall I'm very impressed."
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "We have read rave reviews of the Sunday roast but we were rather disappointed. I asked for mine to be pink but it was chewy that I had to send it back to be made more brown. Even on medium / medium-well, the roast were chewy. The green vegetables were hard and inedible. I understand about not losing the nutrients, but I suggest blanching the green veggies for a couple of minutes first! The roasted garlic was disappointing as well - it was very soggy and laden with oil. My son had the steak, on medium rare, and it was also rather chewy, not the "melt in your mouth" feeling we were hoping for. However, the starters and sides were delicious - we had the lobster, the scallops, the sweet potatoes, the mac 'n cheese, the mushrooms."
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "First timer and a real good steak was had. Service was amazing, despite it being a busy evening out waiter was charming and attentive. Peppercorn sauce and a porterhouse steak shared between two very hungry foodies - together with triple cooked chips, creamy spinach, mushrooms and a glass of Bordeaux was truly fab. Perhaps a bit on the commercial side, but the whole experience was really enjoyable. Would recommend to any Londoner with a hearty appetite and a fancy for a good steak."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "excellent cuts of meat, great service, more authentic ambiance than Gaucho"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "My fiancee and I like to think that we are connoisseur of steak and have eaten at a number of well-renowned restaurants. But the food on offer at Hawksmoor is something else. We opted for the 1kg prime rib served medium (upon the advice of our waiter) which was the ultimate blend of succulence and flavour. It's pricey but I think that the food justifies the price, unlike quite a few places in London"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "Love meat: love Hawksmoor! (But be prepared to pay for it!) Service impeccable, special occasion merited 2 free glasses of prosecco and a lovely personalised chocolate at the end."
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "Loved the atmosphere, food was great - service was typically London! Would recommend!"
    dined on 12/06/2014
  • "The food was brilliant, such succulent steaks and the wine selection suited all needs (and price ranges). Better than gauchos by a major margin in terms of steak taste and steak size selection. However the meal was very expensive. We had 2 cocktail, 1 bottle of wine, 2 steaks and 3 sides to share and the bill was £180. Would recommend this for a birthday as we did. The staff were just fantastic, seriously some of the friendliest yet professional service I have encountered."
    dined on 12/06/2014
  • "This was my second time at Hawksmoor and it continued to impress. Some great cocktails, quality starters (we had crab and smoked mackerel), a nice wine and amazing Chateaubriand. The creamed spinach and triple cooked chips were also delicious. Great service to boot!"
    dined on 11/06/2014
  • "As a regular customer of the establishment I was confident that my guests and first time visitors of the restaurant would have a enjoyable visit, however not only was our visit disappointing but we were also charged for an extra meal that no one had ordered, however due to our trust and confidence in the abilitys of the staff I did not check the receipt until it was too late. I understand this is probably a one off affair just a shame it occurred"
