A word from Hawksmoor Spitalfields
Named after Nicholas Hawksmoor's Christchurch Spitalfields, just down the road, Hawksmoor Spitalfields opened in 2006 to rave reviews, reigniting London's love affair with steak. Hawksmoor Spitalfields is an unpretentious, quality obsessed steak house, serving exclusively British beef from traditional breeds, supplied by award winning butchers The Ginger Pig. The 115 cover restaurant also has an extensive wine list featuring favourite small producers and big vineyards alike. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to the hawksmoor twice now my first visit was amazing, best steak I've ever had. So I was expecting great things for my second visit unfortunately I left rather disappointed. I went for the Sunday roast which was very average. There was no stuffing the Yorkshire was over cooked and the whole meal itself was cold. I wouldn't visit again on a Sunday or recommend the roast. I've raved so much about the hawksmoor it was a bit embarrassing as the other diner didn't rate it at all."

  • "This Sunday lunch was just so good. I'm just absolutely gutted I didn't order the bone marrow to start because the guy on the table next to me had it and it looked unreal. Saying that, the Sunday lunch was so big if I had have had the bone marrow I possibly wouldn't have enjoyed my main as much. I will definitely be returning."

  • "We were recommended to Hawksmoor as we're both big fans of steak being cooked correctly and it most certainly was! We shared the Chateaubriand and could choose the meat by weight, we shared a 500g cut which was perfect. Our waiter was extremely helpful and explained all the different cuts well - even down to showing us diagrams. As sides we had triple cooked chips and creamed spinach which were also perfect. This was a great way to spend a birthday meal and we will definitely be returning."

  • "For a London steak place you would be inclined to think it will be small in size and large in price. We had an excellent meal and the steak was absolutely massive. Certainly value for money. We had a very romantic evening due to the subtle lighting and cosy atmosphere. In addition the restaurant kindly wrapped up the left overs to take home."

  • "Well if you do, do not look further. Simply amazing steak for everyone. They have a good understanding of how a steak is meant to be cooked and they do so brilliantly. The selection a of cut and steaks is very impressive. As any good steak place should have, it has a brilliant wine list accordingly to it. Dessert? Have you ever been in a place with good starters, main and sides that does not have a good dessert? Well, it was very good but not at the same level of the steaks."

  • "Hawksmoor never disappoints whichever location. Quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. Staff are always friendly and know their stuff. Please keep it up! Beats any other Restuarant for meat lovers!"

  • "All the dishes were great but especially the large cut of chateaubriand we got was simply amazing. Don't think you're ordering too much when you get one of the larger cuts of steak. Bit pricey but well worth it for the quality!"

  • "Wonderful food, but the back of the restaurant was extremely hot and uncomfortable."

  • "One of better steaks I've had in London. Highly recommended."

  • "First visit to Hawksmoor. We were attracted by the option to take our own wine for £5 corkage per bottle on a Monday. What a great concept (and one we will repeat as soon as we can). The food was very good and this is a great place to enjoy beautifully matured and presented beef. We had a 1kg Porterhouse and 500g Chateaubriand between 5 of us. It was plenty! Very good, friendly and efficient staff added to the whole experience."

  • "I really can't fault Hawkesmoor. Great food, service and atmosphere."

  • "Amazing restaurant with knowledgeable, helpful staff. The porterhouse steak was to die for and even though we had the 900oz not a scrap was left. The sides were perfect with plenty of choice to keep everyone happy. The deserts were amazing I personally loved the peanut butter shortbread, it's a must try if you can fit it in after the main course."

  • "Don't need to go anywhere else in London for a great steak in my opinion Even the wife ate the lot and that is saying something All in all a great meal"

  • "We went to celebrate my wife's birthday having wanted to visit Hawksmoor for many years. It didn't disappoint. Quite easily the best steak that we've ever had along with informative and friendly service all helped to make a very special day."

  • "Had wanted to come to Hawksmoor for years amd finally came for a celebratory lunch. Had a prime rib to share and all I can say is that it was totally awesome. Service was efficient and friendly, triple cooked chips heavenly. Hawksmoor did not disappoint."

  • "Boyfriend's birthday. Arrived an hour early for our reservation, sat at the bar, drank really great cocktails. Bar staff and waiter were friendly and attentive throughout. I mentioned that it was his birthday; we chose just to have a glass of dessert wine instead of dessert, and they brought out three of their amazing salted caramel rolos on a plate with "Happy Birthday" on it in chocolate. Really nice touch. Thank you Hawksmoor! Has to be the most expensive meal for two that I've ever had, but that's what I get for ordering velvety smooth chateaubriand. Absolutely flawless. Really enjoyed it. Think my bf is still smiling too."

  • "Awesome steak restaurant. Quality was really very good, although you do pay for it. We took advantage of their £5 corkage on a Monday offer, which was great as we had some lovely wines with our steak!"

  • "Turned up on the day to be told the power had been turned off to the whole street, had a few local restaurants that the lady on the front counter recommended but not of a similair vein to the Hawksmoor so not really any sort of consolation. My name was taken so I would recieve an apology email which never materialised, poor effort on all parts considering my mother travelled from Coventry for the food."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Steak is good, if slightly overcooked when medium-rare. Presentation and information is excellent. Cocktails are delish!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Hawksmoor Dinner was superb. Can only recomend to ask the waiters about the best combination they could suggest. Excellent for a dinner for two!"

  • "We went for a bday meal on a monday night and took advantage of the £5 corkage on mondays which makes the price of the meal much more affordable. I would have probably given the value 3 stars if drinks would have been included. The waitress was fantastic, knowledgabe and welcoming. Steaks were great as were the sticky toffee pudding and peanut butter shortbread. Definite place for a special occasion otherwise for regular night out might work out quite expensive."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Obviously the steak was fantastic - but in fact, all the food was very very good. We had a lovely waiter who was very courteous and explained exactly which steak I should go for (not the most expensive!). My partner thought his steak was a little salty (though it didn't stop him eating it) and to apologise, the waiter took off the cost of all three of our deserts. In addition, we were there for my Dad's birthday, and they bought his dessert out with a lit candle and had piped "Happy Birthday" on the plate. Little touches like that prove why this is a great chain. Was expensive, but worth it I think."

  • "Excellent services, particularly as one of our diner's was gluten free - the staff were really friendly and helpful. Delicious meal and highly recommended."

  • "I take a lot of clients to steak restaurants and this looks like it will be the new favorite. For some reason it has come out better than the one in Air St or close to Guild Hall, not sure why though."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Of all the steak restaurants at your disposal in London, Hawksmoor continues to hold its own. With a range of sizes and cuts of top quality beef, Hawksmoor is a firm favourite for steak foodies the world over! The cocktail list is extensive, as is the wine list. Try a shaky Pete's ginger beer to wash down your exemplary meal - you won't regret it!"

  • "Great starters and steaks. Service was attentive and helpful. Was recommended some nice wines"

  • "I had lunch at Hawksmoor Spitalfields with a work colleague. Normally going to Hawksmoor I tend to order the larger steaks off the blackboard but this time we ordered off the menu, a rib eye steak for my colleague and a bone-in sirloin for me. The food was amazing and the service excellent. The one thing I would say, and it's not a criticism, is that Hawksmoor is too good to try and compress the experience into a reasonable timeframe for a business lunch."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "I was looking for an excellent steak restaurant, I don't think you would be able to find better. The meat was fantastic quality and very reasonably priced for what you got. The servers were both attentive and very knowledgeable about the product. Felt extremely welcome and would definitely go back"

  • "An excellent, British, grass-fed 1.3kg rib shared between two of us, served by a friendly, chatty waitress, complemented by some lovely wine recommended by the wine waiter in a completely un-stuffy atmosphere. The meat here is always superb, but the starter of Brixham crab was generous, and very tasty. Overall, highly recommended"

  • "An excellent meal from start to finish. The food, service and drinks were all top notch and I would highly recommend anyone into great food visit at least once. The steak was quite possibly the best Ive ever eaten, the cocktails sublime and inventive and the sides were fantastic."

  • "I took my brother and father here for a combined treat and we had a wonderful time. Great food and wine. This was the second time I have visited and it won't be the last. The only thing I didn't like was the end of my steak :)"
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "Our first visit to Hawksmoor - we tried their early evening £26 three course menu. Starter of potted mackerel, main of 250g rib-eye and dessert of sticky toffee pud - all delicious and beautifully and promptly served. The rib-eye was cooked perfectly and quite big enough - the a la carte portion is 400g at £30. Definitely a good value offer and happened to work well with our evening plans. Lived up to the Hawksmoor's reputation and look forward to visiting again."

  • "As expected, the quality of the steak was outstanding and they know enough about it to prepare it simply and to its best advantage. Pleasantly busy for a Monday night, and this didn't even seem to be because of the wine club (which is spectacular value)"
