Diner Reviews
  • "We love this restaurant. Such a lovely ambience for a quiet and personal meal. Good wine list with excellent advice to help. The rib of beef was enjoyed by my wife and daughter and the rabbit roulade was brilliant. Beautiful sweets and starters, this restaurant remains a favourite choice."
    dined on 29/08/2014
  • "We had an excellent business lunch which is exceedingly great value and delicious food."

  • "About the fifth time I have eaten here and it as good as ever. Good food, good service, private and relaxing. Goats cheese, avocado and beetroot salad was a delicious starter as was the octopus. We both had the veal as a main course, succulent, well presented but perhaps needed a tad more seasoning. The wine list is excellent. Will keep going back."

  • "The host was a very nice gentleman, the restaurant was pretty quiet which was a shame but overall an enjoyable evening. The food was very nice"

  • "Great location and far enough from the noise of SLOANE square but close enough to feel you are in a great part of London. The cupcake shop across the road is also amazing! The set menu is extremely well priced."

  • "The restaurant provides consistently good service and an excellent menu. The rooms are light and airy and the tables well spaced. The lunch menu is good value."

  • "A very enjoyable evening with delicious food and excellent service. Il Convivio is a real asset to the neighbourhood."

  • "Whilst I appreciate frankness, to be told as soon as I sit down that most of the fish dishes on the menu are off because the delivery that morning had been rubbish, did not fill me with confidence for the rest that was to have been served up so I went for the meat and very good it was too. Pasta was well sauced and a good portion as a starter, steak juicy and cooked as requested. Vegetables are miserable portions which means the price of the meal increases. Good wine choices. A baking hot night and one side of the table guests were cool but the other next to the wall roasted. So a good safe bet for a meal but not exciting"

  • "Our first visit. It was quite quiet which was good as we were very well looked after by all the staff. The food was very good and it was a very pleasant Saturday lunch time experience"

  • "Il Convivio is our local restaurant where we like to go for delicious Italian cuisine lunch or dinner. It is great for any time of the year as there is a lovely conservatory where the glass roof can be opened on hot summer days so you can dine al fresco. Santo and his staff always make us feel welcome and service is efficient friendly and discreet. The food is always in our opinion, first class! There Suprise canapé brought to table before dining was full of intense flavour. My fresh and light tomato with Basil Pasta hit the spot, after a long day at the races, and and my husbands lobster and spring onion, handmade black spaghetti looked superb and tasted delicious. We had a carafe of the house puglian red, a great complimented"

  • "Went for our 20th wedding anniversary lunch. Lovely setting and great food most enjoyable . Only point was that the creme brûlée was a little over cooked. Want to go again soon"
    dined on 18/06/2014
  • "We happened to walk in at Il Convivio several years ago on a business trip, and we were delighted with everything (particularly the home-made pasta). Business took us to London again this year, and we reserved ahead of time to see if the place stood up to our memories of it. It did in every way. Bravo!"

  • "Il Convivo provided us with a delicious evening meal after our visit to the Chelsea Flower Show. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We will certainly go there again."

  • "Home made pasta, wonderful fish and divine dessert from a very reasonable fixed lunch menu. Will definitely visit again. Lovely light space and attentive service."

  • "My wife and I went here for an impromptu dinner as we were in the area. We both ordered pasta and it was quite frankly amazing - I would highly recommend the truffle pasta. My mouth runs as I think of it. They don't have a somelier but if you do know your wines, they have a very good range including some of our favorite italian brunello's etc. Would definitely go again!"
    dined on 17/05/2014
  • "Absolutely delicious set lunch of San Daniele ham and burata, followed by liver and bacon. Accompanied by a fine glass of montepulciano. The extremely welcoming maitre d' put a smile on my face as I struggled in wet and bedraggled from the storm outside. "
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "This is a fine restaurant with exceptional cooking. It is quiet enough for conversation as the tables are well-spaced. We always ask for wine recommendations from the knowledgeable maitre. Their menu is varied and interesting. "

  • "Beautifully, bright and airy room with a welcoming feel. Excellent food, friendly attentive staff. Interesting wine list. With the Top Table deal on the food a great time to try is lovely restaurant. A new favourite."

  • "Chosen via Trip Advisor for a pre-show treat and it didn't disappoint. They understand the value of personal service, listening to our requests and customising our dining to suit our schedule. We chose a different ravioli dish each of which arrived divided in two so that we shared - as we had decided to do, a nice touch and the wine, though ordered by the glass was poured at the table, another touch that adds to the value. All staff were charming and attentive and, the ravioli stunning. We started with white truffle & goat's cheese, every ingredient could be detected, likewise the broccoli. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra pennies. My only criticism would be the apricot decor, which has dated.."
    dined on 31/03/2014
  • "We booked an early dinner prior to going to the Royal Court Theatre which is a few minutes walk away. The food was excellent - you don't often get really fresh mozzarella as an antipasti dish but you do here, and the main courses we chose (black spaghetti with lobster, monkfish wrapped in prosciutto) were not only authentic Italian dishes but well cooked and delicious. The service was attentive throughout and the ambience in the townhouse was refined and relaxed. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommended!"

  • "This is our third visit to Il Convivio this year and that in its own should show what we think of this outstanding restaurant. The meals have all been delighful, creative and with impeccable presentation. The service attentive but not over the top. The Maidre D as always was a delight! And we love the fact that the layout of the restaurant makes conversations easy as noise is to a minimum. Again, great food, great abience, great location."

  • "Lovely lunch time eating, great service, incredibly clean and delicious food. And really friendly waiters, made welcome at all the time"
    dined on 14/03/2014
  • "Il Convivio is always a great place for lunch. A good menu - both set lunch and a la carte - attentive but not intrusive service, good food and choice of wines. This was as good as ever. And there is enough space that I could have lunch with an old but eccentric friend without feeling we were annoying our neighbours - and without being annoyed by them!"
    dined on 13/03/2014
  • "Lovely evening in a lovely little restaurant with friendly staff who like to joke and put you at your ease. Food was really good and the atmosphere was cosy but upmarket. We really enjoyed it."

  • "we had a business lunch at Il Convivio and everyone was satisfied: good food and service. The place is rich in light and the sunny day made it particularly nice. Fair value for money."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "We had booked to arrive at 20:30, but were stuck in traffic, we called ahead and the restaurant were very understanding. We arrived and recieved a warm welcome. The food was good, the waiter was very attentive, however I think he must have gone on a break because we didn't see him for about 25 minutes when we had decided and were ready to order. No one else was assigned to us during that time. This didn't in any way affect out overall experience as the restaurant had a good ambience. The food was lovely, the Maitre D was a highlight, he was a very warm gentleman, who awarded 'best dresser' to my partner, which was a lovely gesture. Overall, good food, excellent hospitality, I would go again, and would recommend."
    dined on 14/02/2014
  • "Lets face it, sometimes things go wrong in restaurants and you know its just unfortunate mistakes and thats what happened on our visit. One main course was wrong and so both were sent back - they came back wrong again and were sent back, the maitre D was tearing his hair out and couldnt have been nicer, explaining and offering more free wine as we waited. The meal when it came was excellent and we will go back mainly because at least they were honest, immediatly apologised and we could see it was not only a huge embarassment but that they did everything they could to make it better."

  • "Great food and lovely service. The desserts were delightful."

  • "Our dinner at Il Convivio has been enjoyable and relaxing. Good Italian food (I enjoyed the mozzarella as appetizer and spaghetti alla chitarra). A pleasant and relaxing environment with friendly and attentive service. Ideal for people looking for a relaxing dinner and a quiet chat (without having to shout, like it sometimes happens in some other restaurants). Not cheap but fair value for money."
    dined on 16/01/2014
  • "I took a friend to Il Convivio and we had a great evening. The food was first class, especially my fillet of wild boar. The service was a little eccentric - I got the wrong aperitif and my friend's starter was not the one that he had ordered. However, mistakes like that are very unusual here so don't let it put you off."
    dined on 17/12/2013
  • "I dined here on a Saturday night with four friends. We arrived separately, with the staff greeting us at the door to take our jackets. They were very polite, charming and courteous throughout our 4.5 hours there. They gave us plenty of time to catch up (as we haven't seen each other for some time) and gave recommendations on wine and the dishes. All of the pasta is made in-house and is definitely worth trying! We had starters, main and desert, bottles of wine, grappa etc. This isn't a typical Italian tourist restaurant, but a real one definitely worth the distance from where ever you travel from. The atmosphere is relaxed, with low key music that is just right. The service and food is top quality, and I couldn't recommend Il Convivio enough"

  • "I went with a friend for a dinner and was very nicely surprised - the service was great - smiley and friendly, and food was delicious. Menu is more original than in a typical chain-y italian. Defnitely will be back."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "had a pleasant meal at Il Convivio - dined here for the first time and took advantage of the 25% off food toptable offer! Food was nice and staff very friendly and helpful. The panna cotta desert was particularly enjoyed as was the wine! Would visit again."
    dined on 29/11/2013
  • "the restaurant is well positioned at the end of vibrant Elizabeth Street with its independent boutiques and specialist shops. It is very good value for money, it has nice ambiance and attentive service. I'll be back very soon !"
    dined on 26/11/2013
  • "Went for a girlie birthday dinner, was absolutely amazing. Staff were super friendly, incredible carpaccio for starter and delicious veal for mains. Would most definitely go back again....special thanks to the manager who gave us a complimentary birthday dessert :)"
    dined on 16/11/2013
  • "The food was OK but the portions were ridiculously small for the price, which was quite high. The salad in particular was microscopic. We were not advised that the Top Table offer was unavailable under certain circumstances until we came to pay - advising of which is a normal courtesy extended by all other restaurants we have booked at under this scheme. The worst aspect of the experience was the attitude of the manager or head waiter. He was aggressively rude from the start. I wanted to walk out when this happened but my partner wanted to stay, so we did. He was even more obnoxious when we paid the bill. He actually shouted abusively with absolutely no provocation. My partner was quite shocked and upset by this. Avoid this place!"
    dined on 16/11/2013
  • "We love this small, friendly and, of course very good restaurant! The food is carefuly prepared and the taste (more important) is always very good. And for a VERY honest price!"
    dined on 15/11/2013
  • "If you want to go to a restaurant that serves fabulous Italian food at sensible prices by the same staff you see every time then go here . We've been coming here for lunch + dinner for a long time . This place NEVER lets you down . And the BIG bonus ,you can actually hear yourselves talking . Go soon before it's too late."

  • "Lovely food & friendly, attentive but not intrusive service. We were made very welcome & all our needs catered for. Could strongly recommend it."

  • "Our evening was perfect in every way. The attentive service is most welcome as it is not always the case anymore. The food was beautifully presented and the extras given to us made our welcome is more enjoyable. With the discount, the meal was fairly priced in today's costs."
