Diner Reviews
  • "Went with my 14 year old son pre-theatre. We both loved the food - dim sum, gyoza, sushi, crispy prawns - and the tech experience was very entertaining. Where else can you order dishes as you go without a waiter or waitress, change the virtual tablecloth, play battleships and see the chefs cooking your food on webcam."

  • "Lovely food, warm welcome, great interactive ordering. Only downside was that the toilets didn't look as though they had been cleaned since the day before"

  • "Booked online the same day. Posted an enquiry about pregnancy friendly sushi which was immediately answered by the friendly manageress when we arrived. Loads of fun controlling the decor/ ambience. This is a really original and nice idea and the food delivers on taste and quality. Not a gimmick. Recommended."

  • "Inamo presents an interesting and engaging concept via it's unique ordering system; however the quality of the food has dropped dramatically since I last visited a few years ago. Overall this restaurant is no longer worth spending your money at as the food is very sub-par (sushi that tasted pre-prepared, bland noodles, and a generally pretty uninspiring menu), the service is patchy and the prices are frankly ridiculous is you visit without taking advantage of an offer. My advice is head to Chinatown and get better food for half the cost and without the gimmicks."

  • "Lived in London for two years and only found this place last week. The food was amazing, the chicken was the best !!! Such a lovely place and the interactive tables keep you busy!!! We will defo be back for dinner,"

  • "it was great fun. I went with my kid and she throughly enjoyed it. Entertaining for kids, you never get bored because of the games and possibilities the interactive table offers you"

  • "Good fun with the interactive ordering/decor/games..good novelty and children loved it. Food good approachable fusion with lots of options"

  • "Food we had was good. Wished there were more sushi options, and more options overall. Fancy menu system built into the tables was great, although the system froze several times. Service was great - they really seemed to care."

  • "We enjoyed a post theatre dinner here, with our two children who don't always make for 'stress-free' dining experience! How wonderful to find a place where, not only is the food delicious, but the quirky nature of the restaurant keeps them completely absorbed for almost two hours! Thank you Inamo St James for giving us a wonderful family evening. Go...you will not be disappointed!"

  • "A real treat for the kids who were remarkably willing to try new food in return for the novelty of an interactive table top! Would have been better if the technology was up to speed but gremlins were out and about so there was some frustration. Food was good but not great and service was fine. Reasonable value for money."

  • "I booked a table at Inamo because it sounded a fun place to meet up with old friends and children. I don't live in London, so I don't know many restaurants there but I happened to see a Visit London promotion and Tom Daley recommended Inamo. We were all really pleased with the choice: the children had great fun using the interactive tables- playing games and ordering the food; the adults all thought the food was excellent."

  • "Been here twice before, always been good, this visit very disappoiniting: - table area filthy when we arrived - couldn't find another table while they cleaned it, so they sent us to the bar. No Coke or lemonade!!! - ordered 3 starters, 2 mains, 1 side. Side order arrived after 2nd starter, server wasn't happy when asked it to be sent back and brought with the main course - the side dish didn't come with the mains - the whole purpose of Inamo is the wifi interaction. The connection kept freezing up every 30 seconds, it meant doing anything took 3 x longer than normal - when i complained service charge removed, and they gave us a glass of prosecco as it was my birthday Won't be back in a hurry"

  • "Don't underestimate how excellent the food is because of the technology/interactive dining element. Even without all that the food is absolutely superb and the service, for London, was excellent. Our server was friendly, non-intrusive and knowledgeable about the wines, dishes and history of the restaurant. Wouldn't hesitate to recomend."

  • "Food is very tasty and well presented. Would recommend highly. All that is needed is a larger selection of desserts."

  • "This review would have been far more positive if it had not been for the response to dietary needs. I booked a table well ahead as I received an email advertising a 'child eats free with an adult meal' deal as part of Kids' Theatre Week. I looked at the children's set meal and realised that the crispy prawns wouldn't be suitable for my daughter as she has to have a gluten free diet. When I made the booking I added a note to this effect asking if a suitable dish of similar value could be substituted. I didn't hear back so assumed this was ok. When we arrived I reminded them of my request, of which they had no record. I was told that no substitutions could be made and that I would have to pay for an alternative main course."

  • "Can't recommend this place highly enough!! I was looking for somewhere a bit different to take my children to lunch (12 and 7years). Somewhere child-friendly but with really good food that was going to satisfy everyone and not break the bank. I found Inamo on a search engine...it looked great on paper and the reviews were all good. Booking was simple and I decided to keep it a suprise in case it didn't meet with expectation. We were immediately impressed - great environment, friendly service, the 'table' was really easy to use and is such a WOW factor! The menu was divine, we couldn't choose what to have first, loved the non alcoholic cocktails, the 'chef cam' and the kids especially enjoyed all the games. We will be back!"

  • "The food portions and prices were ridiculous. Having said that, the flavours that oozed from the dishes were incredible! The aubergines and the creme brulee were absolutely delicious. The ambiance and the unique interactive tables made it quite an experience. Very innovative, fun, and overall a great place to visit at least once! I'll certainly be back :)"

  • "We went to Inamo for an adults birthday meal but as we had children with us we wanted somewhere they would enjoy too. The novelty of being able to order your food and drink via an interactive table kept them amused all evening. Great good and service too!"

  • "We went to Inamo with our teenage boys (13 and 15) and it was a lot of fun. Besides that, the food was very nice and freshly made. We would definitely go again."

  • "We booked a table for two at 1:15 and walked in to find a deserted restaurant. The décor was amazing, with bamboo poles and waterfalls, and the interactive tables are interesting (although projection is a bit low-tech in these days of touch-screens). But it was hard to create a buzzy ambience with only two of us. Another coupld of tables arrived later on. The staff told us they'd had a "really busy" Saturday night – which meant they'd run out of Pinot Grigio and the set menu was severely restricted. What we ordered looked great and tasted stunning. My only critique is that the interactive table doesn't include plain old tap water. Instead, it's £2 for a bottle of filtered. Suggest visit at another day/time for a better experience."
    dined on 17/08/2014
  • "The interactive table for ordering is a nice idea, but in practice it was glitchy and kept freezing which was very frustrating. Worse than that, when we mentioned it to the waitress (two of them in fact), they wouldn't move us. If it's your unique selling point, it's got to work better than this. Ambience a little ruined by sitting the two of us at the same table as two strangers, even though the rest of the restaurant not busy. Apparently the spirit of "sharing"! All this led to though was confusion over who ordered what and a slightly awkward start to the meal as you could hear each others' conversations. Also pricey for what you get - not gourmet, feels like you end up paying for the gimmick, which didn't work that well!"
    dined on 16/08/2014
  • "Mediocre food which is over priced to cover the cost of the ground breaking technology used. Staff were great but poor English. Food came at extreme different times from one another. I ordered veg tempura which was greasy. My friend had duck which was dry and cold. If you want to check it put for fun do so, but don't expect great food."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "Recommended through Kids Week website and surpassed expectations. We all loved the food [the black cod is 'melt in the mouth'] and the interactive tables have ensured Inamo is now the children's favourite restaurant. No complaints at all. Recommending to all our family friends."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • " We had a lovely pre theatre meal here. It was early so the restaurant wasn't too busy but was not empty. My 10 and 11 year old loved the experience and we enjoyed the food and the kids week reduction on kids food in August! I was worried by the reviews I had read but found them unfounded. Service was great, restaurant beautiful, computers worked well, food delicious. Thank you"
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "Not great value for money, main meals are so small and I'm not a big eater myself so it wasn't too bad for me. The interactive ordering was a tad bit annoying too, as you would need to request a waiter if any amendments needed to be made to drinks or food, which meant a wait. The restaurant itself has a nice environment, staff were friendly etc, but the food itself wasn't great in taste or value for money. For the seafood ramen you're probably better off going to wagamamas!"
    dined on 13/08/2014
  • "Enticed by the kids week offer only to find the smallest choice of any set meal in a restaurant, basically one choice! Prawns, tiny and trebled in size with batter! Red curry, sweet not spicy and worst ever tasted! Kids loved interactive tables but that was all on offer would not go to eat!"
    dined on 12/08/2014
  • "Lovely place, would definitely recommend to others. We went for set menu and great fun with the interactive tables."
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "Went here for the first time and expected good Sushi with an experience! Staff were unhelpful, unresponsive and basically could f easily not been there! Minus the manager who actually hosted served, took orders and basically apologized for the sham of a service! He is the only reason we didnt walk out! Food wasnt great and certainly didnt deserve the price tag! Was very let down and disappointing with this place!"
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "booked for my sons 15th birthday treat before catching a show. Smaller dishes arrived but some computer failure meant that although the order had worked on the screen they were never received in the kitchen. By the time we managed to sort out we had less than 10 minutes to bolt the food down and leave - no time for relaxing chat or desert. Staff gave us the mains on the house but I would have rather have paid and celebrated my sons birthday and enjoyed food - also very expensive for what it is - I think the steak on the hot stone was about £17 and there were about 5 thin strips. Great gimmick but not overly impressed"
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "Lovely ambience, it's quirky, different and a great place to try something new. Loved the small selection of games while we waited for our meals. The interactive tables are brilliantly fun, although ours tended to freeze up a lot. Overly priced small portions, I think the price is more to cover the cost of the interactive tables rather than the food. Prices for drinks were abysmal and stingy! I'd only recommend it for a one off special occasion."

  • "My friend and I went to Inamo St James for lunch on Saturday. I thought that the food was excellent. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The food arrived without any delay and when it arrived it was well presented and all of the courses were absolutely delicious. I thought that it was excellent value for money with the Top Table deal. I will certainly be going back again in the future."

  • "I came to Inamo in December last year for the first time and was in awe of the place. The food, service and atmosphere all were excellent and i've recommended it to people several times. However i came in for lunch as a special treat for my sister in law and i on Saturday and i was so disappointed that it put me off ever returning or recommending inamo again. The services was awful, we had our starter brought out and within 2/3 minutes our main course was brought out, so by the time we finished our starter our main course was luke warm. When we had finished our mains, we then had to wait 20 minutes for our desserts. I felt our waitress wasn't particularly interested in her job and we seemed like a chore to her."

  • "for me the music is too loud. it's difficult to have a conversation. The food is good no more no less. It was the 4th time we went there and this time i had trouble with my table. The mousepath didn't work properly and i was not really satisfied with the help I've got;"

  • "While Inamo has a very unique electronic set up at each table which is very well done and entertaining, the food and service are average at best. Overall a very interesting dining experience, but would have liked the food to be better quality."
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "We were really pleased to visit and the inside of Inamo has a real Wow factor. The tables were entertaining but the novelty had worn off by the end of the meal. A nice and different place to go though."
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "Great for kids as on table 'e' ordering fun, also good for 1st dates in case of lull in conversation, but food was cold and took AGES to come."
    dined on 07/08/2014
  • "Price food and friendly staff as ever. Sadly the IT which runs e interactive table menus let them down. It hung and glitches and wasn't up to the job on he night. The staff said there was a software update underway which is bizarre to do when the restaurant is open. In my mind if your USP is IT based - get it right"
    dined on 07/08/2014
  • "The food is amazing and the interactive table was fab, kept my little one entertained the whole time we were there which was great, and the staff were really friendly"
    dined on 07/08/2014
  • "It was unfortunately one of those evenings where the computers sending orders to the kitchen stopped working as soon as we sat down. Which meant that the whole purpose of the dining experience unravelled quickly. The waiters were very apologetic and tried to manage the situation out of control: orders brought to the table twice, missing orders when we had ordered twice the same dish... I don't expect this to happen often but it would have been nice to get a gesture of apology (free drinks? 50% discount?) considering that the whole evening was a bit of adisaster. No offer came from the management and when we made the staff notice, they offered prosecco...but by then we all already had our coats on to leave...a bit too little, too late..."
    dined on 06/08/2014
  • "Food was good if a bit overpriced. You order through a computer with a trackpad on the table and the screen is projected on to the table top. It feels a bit dated to be honest. It's nice the way you can set the tablecloth to change every two minutes!"
