A word from Indigo
An informal and relaxed restaurant situated on the mezzanine level of London’s definitive contemporary hotel, One Aldwych. Overlooking the bustling Lobby Bar, Indigo offers diners a creative and ever changing Modern European menu.

The contemporary menu uses only the freshest ingredients to create a light and healthy dining experience. Start with the hand-dived Orkney scallops before enjoying one of the main courses including slow braised beef cheeks, bourguinon garnish and mash potato. Finish with one of our signature desserts including the popular classic crème brûlée.

With its Covent Garden location, the restaurant is ideal for a bite to eat before or after the theatre.

Diner Reviews
  • "Nice not to be overfed especially when you're heading back to the theatre, but I'm not a person with a large appetite and I found the main course and starter portions extremely small. However, the tiny amount of ratatouille garnished with a very small plaice fillet was absolutely delicious. And I still had room for dessert. My husband's choice of pasta was definitely a much larger portion, so go for the carbs if you want a nice filling meal. Coffee was excellent."

  • "This was my second visit to Indigo in as many months. It wasn't quite as good as the first but it was still very good. I had the chicken salad to start, my only criticism would be that there wasn't much chicken, the cumin dressing was very subttle but very good! We ordered a side order of new potatoes with our mains and they were delicious as was the pork. There was a slightly disappointing pudding selection but I had the mango and coconut fool and I wasn't disappointed, it was light, refreshing and tasty."

  • "I have been dining at Indigo for 15 years. It's a super venue but it is expensive for what you get and 12.5% service charge/tip is steep. This time I had a rather indifferent mackerel pate for starters and some very plain pasta - not up to the high standard I expect and 2 glasses of wine - one at £13 and one at £8.50 is very pricey It's not cheap! and somehow the cooking seemed no longer special (which it use to be) A bit disappointed if I'm honest - although convent for Wolf Hall and BUTB double bill"

  • "This is a stable good value venue for lunch or pre-theatre. Good portions for a smart price and reliable service"

  • "Service was good, staff pleasant and friendly with a sense of humour. One was over the top and almost uncomfortably subservient, dressed in grey. Comfortable chairs, not too close to other diners. My rabbit was delicious and tender and my daughter's vegetarian meal was good too. My friend was not asked how well cooked she wanted her liver, luckily what came suited her. Young staff need more help with the wine list and how to serve wine."

  • "Visited with two friends for pre theatre meal. 3 courses with a glass of prosecco for £25, was excellent value. Venue is very striking with huge arched windows and contemporary stylish decoration. We had table overlooking the bar from mezzanine level which was great. Food delicious and substantial, not the typical Nuevo cuisine tiny portions which leave you wanting. Service smart, attentive but discreet. Very impressed and would definitely return. Would also recommend bar for drinks, lovely setting."

  • "First visit to Indigo was a pleasure. Staff were very helpful asking if we had to leave at a certain time for the theatre & ensuring that our delicious meal was served promptly. We took advantage of the special offer-3 courses & a glass of Prosecco £20 & the presentation and cuisine was exceptional value for money."

  • "Dined as a party of four and enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the Open Table deal (3 courses and a glass of Prosecco - £25). The menu was quite restricted, but we all had something different and we all enjoyed our meals. The food was beautifully presented and very well cooked and we thought excellent value on the deal, the service was excellent without being over the top. Would certainly dine there again and would highly recommend."

  • "Chose to go to this restaurant as it was near the Aldwych theatre where we were seeing a show. The menulooked varied and good value. We enjoyed our experience very much. The food was served in timely way for our theartre deadline without feeling rushed. The service was excellent and the staff attentive and considerate. We would definitely return for another meal on antoher occasion."

  • "A very hot London day, I wanted somewhere calm and cool for business meetings, good free wifi, and space to be able to sit, without waiting. The lobby bar is lovely and tranquil, but not pretentious, and indigo is just a nice little restaurant with the most comfy chairs to eat a meal from! Top notch :-)"

  • "We booked the pre/post theatre menu (three people) as we had been to the Aldwych Theatre which is very close as indeed is Drury Lane where most of the other theatres are situated. The restuarant is lovely and we had a very good corner table so very happy. Service was excellant and although the menu is necessarily limited as a fixed price offer everyone was happy with their choice. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice venue close to the theatre. Only downside - the cover charge of 12.5% although I suspect that is standard now, and the cost of the drinks which I felt were on the high side."

  • "We were party of seven and half of the group arrived more than half an hour late but we still managed to eat the set menu. The timing was just perfect and the personal in Indigo was outstanding. The food was nicely presented and tasted very good."

  • "Great lunch in a lovely restaurant. Will be going again."

  • "I've was taken to the Indigo for a business lunch and was so impressed I booked it for my wedding aniversary dinner. I wasn't disappointed. We arrived an hour before our reservation for drinks in the lobby bar but the were no seats available. No problem, we were wisked to a private lounge area where we were looked after by a wonderful young waiter (can't recall his name). The service continued to be attentive but not intrusive and the food was great. My wife and I had a wonderful time and will return."

  • "Couldn't get into Axis so thought we'd try Indigo instead, as Number One Aldwych is so well-situated for theatres. Less formal than Axis and much noisier as it's on a balcony overlooking the cocktail bar. Fine for us, good food (well cooked and presented) and service. Probably not the best place for business - or romance! We'd go there again."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We went there for a special occasion. The food was great - they even had a gluten free menu which I always appreciate. For a nice dinner we thought it was reasonably price - that includes the wines as well. Wait staff were very nice and accommodating. Overall would definitely go back."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "Four of us had tickets for the Aldwych for 2 consecutive evenings, so booked at Axis for the first which we have reviewed, and Indigo for the second (both at 1 Aldwych). Both were 4 1/2 stars - extremely good. The food at Indigo whilst very good, was less adventurous than Axis, but the dining room in Indigo is brighter and airier being on the mezzanine. The service in both is impeccable. We had had a wine of a specific vintage we liked in Axis, and the waiter went down specially to find it for us the second day in Indigo. We would heartily recommend both to people who like food - but do not need very large portions."

  • "My mum and I went here on Saturday evening after we had seen a show. We had cocktails downstairs in the lobby bar of Number one Aldwich first. Rather pricey for champagne cocktails at £16 each but they were lovely and the service was impeccable. The lobby bar is beautiful without being over done. When our table was ready we sat over looking the bar downstairs. Was worried that the portions wouldn't be big enough so we ordered side dishes but the portions were fine and the food was delicious and we didn't have one thing that we didn't like. We had a deal where we got a carafe of wine included and it was very nice. Bill came to £173 for the two of us but £64 of that was (4) cocktails from the lobby bar! Great place!"

  • "Just near our theatre perfect spot to dine early evening. Beautiful setting comfortable chairs tasteful decor quiet in the restaurant so we could converse with our friends, but with the hint of buzz from the foyer bar below. Excellent short menu heritage tomato salad, pollock and a heavenly mango dessert. It will be our pre theatre spot for the future."
