Diner Reviews
  • "There were four of us dining and even though we were running late the service of the team was impeccable. We were seated overlooking the downstairs part of the venue which was The food whilst not large portions was delicious and we enjoyed the presentation of the dishes. One of the group did find their terrine a little fatty but the rest of us enjoyed it all the same. Overall the meals were very good and I would recommend Indigo to others. I have to say that the team serving were excellent, at one point there were three people helping us, which is a lovely way to dine. So thank you to the folks there. A really great evening, thanks everyone."

  • "Went for a birthday meal. Great for a special occasion . Nice food & good service. I had the pavlova for dessert. My only one disappointment & it's small was the merengue they used wasn't 'homemade '. It was dry all the way through & it's meant to be a little 'chewy' when it's made in house. Otherwise perfect!"

  • "Indigo is a well located and comfortable restaurant at the Aldwych. It is quiet and unassuming but the quality of food and service is good, there is a good lunch menu and its has a sensible wine list including carafes of decent wine. all in all it is a good choice for a good lunch in a nice and all too rare quiet setting. I have been impressed on all three occasions I have been in the last 18 months. "

  • "Usual high standard at Indigo. Tried the three courses + prosecco £25 deal, which was very good value. Food, as ever, was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient, and we were away in plenty of time for the theatre."

  • "A great venue - very central. Attentive but subtle service, comfortable surroundings, lovely food and great VFM with TT offer - 3 courses & glass of prosseco for £25. Set menu offered good choice - the watercress & spinach soup was marvellously green and delicious! Altho the info suggested the table had to be left after 2.5 hrs we were unhurried and enjoyed a leisurely evening. Definitely recommend."

  • "We had a lovely pre-theatre meal with four adults and two children in our party. The food was superb as was the service. The children were made to feel welcome which made for a relaxing meal. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will certainly return."

  • "A really relaxing and smart place to dine - good space between tables, not noisy, great views out and very good food."

  • "Staff waiting on were really friendly and food good but initial greeting not so friendly and they had no record of our table booking, even though we had the email confirmation and reference."

  • "Adequate though unadventurous menu, pedestrian wine list and fair service. It was very very quiet on this Thursday night and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant which made the ambiance poor and very much like a hotel lobby. The food was of good quality but not deserving of the price and the service nervous and lacked warmth, experience or expertise."

  • "Been 3 times now. Food is excellent, service couldn't be better and the chairs are wonderfully comfortable. This is my favourite restaurant when looking at something between high street chains and Michelin star. It's closer to Michelin star and without the price tag. Perfect for a special meal."

  • "Some initial confusion over my booking (thought I'd booked the offer but not on their system) was sensitively handled and we were allocated an excellent table with good views over busy side street. Service was attentive without being overwhelming and the food options and subsequent delivery were very good and plentiful over three courses. This Toptable offer is excellent value for money and we'd certainly return (making sure I tick the right box next time)"

  • "Went here with a couple of friends the other night, and had a really lovely time! I had broccoli soup to start with some great focaccia. Main was gurnard with buttered crushed potatoes and carrots, and a polenta/pistachio cake. It was delicious and great value at just under £24 for 3 courses with a glass of Prosecco. Service was also good. Get a table overlooking the bar, and there is a great ambiance. However watch out for the wine prices! A bottle and a carafe put the price up to over £50 each (incl tip)."

  • "Really tasty starter and main. Creme Brûlée dessert a little disappointing but excellent service. Everyone there doing a first class job. There when you wanted them and not hovering when you didn't. Pretty little restaurant too."

  • "Indigo was a good find. It was quiet enough to catch up with friends on the mezzanine floor which overlooked a busy lounge. So you had atmosphere as well as ambience. The food was good but could have done with a little more choice. Would recommend"

  • "I wanted to surprise my partner with tiks to the Lion King. When I made the booking I mentioned that it was for a 33rd birthday and that I had tickets to see the Lion King at 7.30pm. We arrived for our meal just before our 6pm reservation but our orders were not taken until 6.30. The food was amazing and very good value for a theatre menu. The only hang up was that whilst the service was good it was slow and we had to rush our desserts paying the bill before they even came out to save time. As I was rushing I didn't have time to check the bill thoroughly and there was a small donation to a charity included with my bill. I would go again but I would be more insisting that our orders be taken in good time if I had theatre planned afterwards."

  • "Well placed and excellent value for special dining after a theatre visit in Aldwych"

  • "Having previously dined here with a group for a special occasion and with its proximity to Theatreland, it made an ideal spot for a post matinee dinner. Particularly impressive was the service, which was faultless. All the staff were very efficient without losing a sense of warmth. The pace of the meal was well judged from pre-dinner drinks to coffees. We never felt rushed. We both enjoyed our food choices. Delicious bread, perfectly cooked meat. My only disappointment was the overblown onion rings with the liver - not quite fine dining. I like the fact you can order carafes of wine and that these were still chilled which doesn't always happen. All in all a great evening and I'm sure our second visit will not be our last."

  • "We ordered our starter and main and the starter came pretty quick, the staff were looking at us to check if we had finished our starter, my friend was taking longer then me to eat hers as we were chatting, when she finished the waitress picked up our plates and within 3 minutes our main course was served, I had the fish pie it was clearly well over cooked, it had been in the oven way to long, no sauce as it was dry. I don’t want to be rushed when I have a meal."

  • "Food - as ever is good. Modern European, fresh, neat and always elegantly presented. The main issues here are: A. The wine list B. The lack of Sommelier. The wine list is fairly broad, however 95% of the wines are WAY too young for consumption. Bordeaux, Rhone, Australia, Spain from 2010/2011/2012 etc. Not approachable in any way. Indigo - address the wine list pleeeeeaaase. That aside, the place is great, service is very courteous and the food has always been very good."

  • "We just spent a weekend in London and based on reviews from various websites, and location we chose Indigo for dinner on Saturday night. What an inspired choice! Food was terrific, and service was attentive without being over-the-top. Our only downside was both mains were so delcious we scoffed the lot and had no room for dessert!"

  • "Excellent food and especially convenient for West End, theatres etc."

  • "A very pleasant discovery. Wasn't aware that One Aldwych had a mezzanine restaurant - Indigo. Great ambience and atmosphere above the hustle and bustle of the ground-floor bar. Food absolutely delicious, staff very attentive. Great choice all round. Will certainly plan to return if the right opportunity arises. And, of course, the location is great for theatre land."

  • "I chose Indigo deliberately so that we wouldn't have other tables too close. It really makes a difference to have just a little privacy. The set menu food was excellent, as was the carafe of white wine we ordered. Service was efficient and the ambience was very relaxing. I'd definitely recommend."

  • "Very funky bar downstairs. attentive waiters upstairs. Asked if we had a time we needed to leave by. good food. The breads served on the table were lovely and tasted home made."

  • "The restaurant has a warm and welcoming ambience and the staff are friendly and helpful. Myself and my friend were there for a pre theatre meal and chose from this set menu. We both had the leek and potato soup which was very creamy and tasty. The main course I chose was Pork belly which I really enjoyed but the highlight of the meal was the passion fruit creme brulee. The staff were attentive but not over powering and interacted with all customers extremely well. The prices for wine were slightly high which was the only negative point of this experience."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Booked on a Tripadvisor recommendation as it was very close to the Lyceum Theatre for the Lion King show. We had the two course set menu with a main and dessert and it was excellent. The portion size was perfect and the quality and flavour of all the dishes was excellent. We really enjoyed it and the staff were very attentive."

  • "From the first drinks to the last glass of wine, I and my guests greatly enjoyed the evening at Indigo. The bar is stylish but comfortable, the food different but substantial enough. The ambience was perfect for business at pleasure. Very enjoyable all round."

  • "I had a super meal at indigo - pre theatre - staff were lovely, service seamless, food beautiful. Very memorable for all the right reasons."

  • "Central location with great buzzy atmosphere. Attentive service. We both enjoyed our starters: game terrine and soup. The onglet steak was cooked to perfection: one rare and one medium but it was a bit chewy. The glass of Cotes de Rhone was very palatable."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "Indigo provided an excellent location for a lunch before a matinee theatre performance. The set menu was reasonable value but did give limited choice. The dining experience was enhanced by the great service and attention to detail. I would happily return on another occasion to sample to wider al a carte menu"

  • "I took a business colleague here for dinner in mid-Feb 2014. The service was impeccable although on occasion a little bit too over eager, but better that I suppose than the other end of the spectrum. I had contacted Indigo beforehand to inform them of an allegy and they raised it with me as soon as we were shown to the table and were extremely helpful. The food was quickly served and flavoursome. The meal has a pretty eclectic choice from modern English to European with a couple of Asian choices so there is certainly something for everyone. I had ham hock, Thai beef salad and cheesecake. All were delicious, although the beef in the salad was a bit rarer than I would normally like to have it."
    dined on 20/02/2014
  • "service was friendly, food felt as if it had been prepared without care and tasting during cooking"
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "The food was very good quality and with some imaginative dishes (e.g. the Kent beetroot with the goat curd cheese was a delcious starter). Main courses were a little on the 'nouvelle cuisine' size, but very pleasant. Service was very attentive and helpful. The biggest drawback was that the wine list was a little limited, certainly in terms of value-for-money choices. But overall a very enjoyable dining experience: I'd certainly go back."
