A word from Indigo
An informal and relaxed restaurant situated on the mezzanine level of London’s definitive contemporary hotel, One Aldwych. Overlooking the bustling Lobby Bar, Indigo offers diners a creative and ever changing Modern European menu.

The contemporary menu uses only the freshest ingredients to create a light and healthy dining experience. Start with the hand-dived Orkney scallops before enjoying one of the main courses including slow braised beef cheeks, bourguinon garnish and mash potato. Finish with one of our signature desserts including the popular classic crème brûlée.

With its Covent Garden location, the restaurant is ideal for a bite to eat before or after the theatre.

Diner Reviews
  • "Chose to go to this restaurant as it was near the Aldwych theatre where we were seeing a show. The menulooked varied and good value. We enjoyed our experience very much. The food was served in timely way for our theartre deadline without feeling rushed. The service was excellent and the staff attentive and considerate. We would definitely return for another meal on antoher occasion."

  • "A very hot London day, I wanted somewhere calm and cool for business meetings, good free wifi, and space to be able to sit, without waiting. The lobby bar is lovely and tranquil, but not pretentious, and indigo is just a nice little restaurant with the most comfy chairs to eat a meal from! Top notch :-)"

  • "We booked the pre/post theatre menu (three people) as we had been to the Aldwych Theatre which is very close as indeed is Drury Lane where most of the other theatres are situated. The restuarant is lovely and we had a very good corner table so very happy. Service was excellant and although the menu is necessarily limited as a fixed price offer everyone was happy with their choice. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice venue close to the theatre. Only downside - the cover charge of 12.5% although I suspect that is standard now, and the cost of the drinks which I felt were on the high side."

  • "We were party of seven and half of the group arrived more than half an hour late but we still managed to eat the set menu. The timing was just perfect and the personal in Indigo was outstanding. The food was nicely presented and tasted very good."

  • "I've was taken to the Indigo for a business lunch and was so impressed I booked it for my wedding aniversary dinner. I wasn't disappointed. We arrived an hour before our reservation for drinks in the lobby bar but the were no seats available. No problem, we were wisked to a private lounge area where we were looked after by a wonderful young waiter (can't recall his name). The service continued to be attentive but not intrusive and the food was great. My wife and I had a wonderful time and will return."

  • "Couldn't get into Axis so thought we'd try Indigo instead, as Number One Aldwych is so well-situated for theatres. Less formal than Axis and much noisier as it's on a balcony overlooking the cocktail bar. Fine for us, good food (well cooked and presented) and service. Probably not the best place for business - or romance! We'd go there again."

  • "We went there for a special occasion. The food was great - they even had a gluten free menu which I always appreciate. For a nice dinner we thought it was reasonably price - that includes the wines as well. Wait staff were very nice and accommodating. Overall would definitely go back."

  • "Very friendly staff, food well presented and in smallish quantities, so ideal for post-concert dining. Located up one flight of stairs but a lift if necessary. Slightly noisy music from the floor below. Good wine and food, recommended."

  • "My mum and I went here on Saturday evening after we had seen a show. We had cocktails downstairs in the lobby bar of Number one Aldwich first. Rather pricey for champagne cocktails at £16 each but they were lovely and the service was impeccable. The lobby bar is beautiful without being over done. When our table was ready we sat over looking the bar downstairs. Was worried that the portions wouldn't be big enough so we ordered side dishes but the portions were fine and the food was delicious and we didn't have one thing that we didn't like. We had a deal where we got a carafe of wine included and it was very nice. Bill came to £173 for the two of us but £64 of that was (4) cocktails from the lobby bar! Great place!"

  • "Just near our theatre perfect spot to dine early evening. Beautiful setting comfortable chairs tasteful decor quiet in the restaurant so we could converse with our friends, but with the hint of buzz from the foyer bar below. Excellent short menu heritage tomato salad, pollock and a heavenly mango dessert. It will be our pre theatre spot for the future."

  • "An elegant restaurant in which the service is attentive without being overwhelming. The set lunch menu is very good indeed and the quiet, spacious and comfortable surroundings make it an ideal place for conversation or discussion."

  • "We tried the good value OpenTable deal, with included a glass of very nice Prosecco. The waiter knew we were off the the theatre and managed the service slickly, but without us ever feeling rushed"

  • "The restaurant overlooks an elegant marble-floored cafe/bar area which is very beautiful but rather noisy. Nevertheless, we had a very nice pre-theatre meal, the service was excellent and and we will be happy to go back again."

  • "This has become one of our favourite restaurants. Well presented food, the liver was fabulous as was the pork and chicken, and all presented with great service. The cocktail bar downstairs is always a lovely way to start the evening."

  • "very relaxed atmosphere, comfortable. excellent service, nothing too much trouble. food was tasty, but unexciting. good for pre/post theatre drinks or food."
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Booked this venue for 6 for pre-theatre drinks and food. Super ambiance downstairs for drinks and then upstairs to the restaurant for early dinner. Some of our party took the set price option (2 courses for £20)(there's also 3 courses for £25 but we didn't try any desserts) and some took a la carte options. In all everyone was very satisfied with their choices. The food was delivered quickly by very good and attentive waiting staff. I would definitely go there again."

  • "Perfect. Superb service. Attentive but not overpowering Drink beforehand in lobby was perfect location. We were celebrating a birthday which we noted. In the booking. It was dealt with subtly."

  • "such a charming, comfortable and delicious evening a six star experience for the cost of a normal meal...such plsh surroundings we felt a million dollars..as it was a special birthday gathering they brought out little candle cake unexpectedly at the end which was a lovely touch..and best of all despite some of our party running late great timed food and without any rush we all.made it to the theatre on time...we will go back"
    dined on 13/06/2014
  • "We arrived late, but by no means was this a problem as the staff were more then understanding. We then began to order wine and food (wine was great!) and they asked us if we needed to have left the Indigo by a certain time, which we did and the food was served promptly, never feeling rushed and allowed us time to relax after our meal, we were able to have starter and main all within the perfect timing. The food I could talk about forever, it really came across that they cared about the food as all ingredients seemed fresh and tasted the way they were suppose to, as if it was all picked and caught at just the right time. The balance of flavours was something that I have not tasted in a long time absalotuley delightful. Staff were faultless!"

  • "A first visit to Indigo for a small group of us for supper in between Wolf Hall & Bring Up The Bodies. We loved the comfortable table in the light & airy room that overlooked the dramatic room/bar downstairs. ....very attentive service, delicious food (the set menu very good value) perfect, look forward to returning..thank you."

  • "Very calm, ideal to escape the noise and bustle for a while to enjoy dinner. Tables nicely spaced out, not sat uncomfortably close to others. Waiter asked us if we had a theatre booking, and if so what time we needed to leave. We made it, just."
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "4 of us had pre-theatre menu at Indigo, which is on mezzanine level in One Aldwych. 2 or 3 courses for £20/£25 and included glass of prosecco if £25 menu chosen. A 12.5% service is automatically added. There were 3 choices for each course and between us we tried most of them - all delicious, well presented and service great even although restaurant pretty full. Bread and dipping oil was a nice (complementary) touch. Tables reasonably spaced and only small criticism would be that the chairs are more like lounge chairs in a coffee shop, so if you're under 5'6" then you could do with a cushion. Glass of wine outside offer from about £8, bottle from about £30. Will definitely go again."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "booked this to round off a special occasion for my wife and mentioned in the booking it was for a birthday. arriving slightly early ( raining and fed up with being wet) was not a problem. asked if we were on our way to the theatre or had time. I t was noticeable that other tables were being pushed so they were not late. our service was very pleasant and interested where we had been but not nosey specail menu creative and food did not dissappoint though the extras were a bit pricey meal over we relaxed to watch the world go by in the bar below when the waiter arrived bearing a birthday cake, thats what I call attention to detail. A thoroughly enjoyable time thankyou"
    dined on 29/05/2014
  • "We had the pre-theatre menu at £25 for three courses and very much enjoyed the food (the two course price was £20). As we had arrived early we had a gin and tonic in the bar downstairs and found that two g&ts were almost the price of the three course menu. The price of the wine was on the high side. If we went again we would definitely avoid any pre-dinner drinks."
    dined on 28/05/2014
  • "Excellent food, service charming, efficient, unobtrusive. Would go there again tomorrow."

  • "I visited this restaurant for a pre theatre meal. The food was excellent and well presented, service was also very good. The restaurant has a great ambience"

  • "Prompt and attentive service in attractive surroundings, ensuring that we were in time for the theatre but didn't feel rushed. Excellent food, well presented, with a fixed price option suitable for pre-theatre. Good wine list, if a bit pricy."
    dined on 21/05/2014
  • "The set menu is very good value, with a good choice for each course. Plenty of wines by the glass. The food is well presented and tasty, especially the starters and desserts. Service was friendly and efficient, leaving us plenty of time to get to our theatre. The atmosphere is a good balance between the bar below, buzzy, and the dining room itself, calm. My only minus is that coffee is expensive: £4 for an espresso is out of proportion to the rest of the bill, with minimal sweets accompanying it."
