A word from Indigo
An informal and relaxed restaurant situated on the mezzanine level of London’s definitive contemporary hotel, One Aldwych. Overlooking the bustling Lobby Bar, Indigo offers diners a creative and ever changing Modern European menu.

The contemporary menu uses only the freshest ingredients to create a light and healthy dining experience. Start with the hand-dived Orkney scallops before enjoying one of the main courses including slow braised beef cheeks, bourguinon garnish and mash potato. Finish with one of our signature desserts including the popular classic crème brûlée.

With its Covent Garden location, the restaurant is ideal for a bite to eat before or after the theatre.

This is a nice restaurant which manages to feel relatively intimate despite being effectively in the lobby of a large hotel. The staff are always lovely and the food is dependable - although occasionally missing the mark, never by much. Given its position, this is a bit of a gem.

Went to Indigo with business colleague earlier this week. I started with mackerel rillettes and followed by the rib-eye steak. Perfectly cooked exactly as ordered and really enjoyed the food. Wine list provided excellent choice across all price ranges (seemed expensive but good VFM considering the wines offered). Restaurant ideal for early evening business discussions. All staff provided an excellent service - very professional yet friendly and relaxed. Definitely will return both with business colleagues and for social dining.

We had a theatrical marathon to attend at the Aldwych theatre and thought Indigo was convenient for us to have a meal in between sessions. The food was good, we did not ask for the pre- theatre fixed menu as we did not fancy anything in particular., went for the a la carte. The ambience was great as well as service, which was excellent and the overall experience was great. Have been there before, will certainly return in the future.

We went to Indigo for our daughter's 18th Birthday meal and had some great food. The Rabbit main course was great as was the Mackerel starter. The service was very attentive and made our evening, especially when they brought out a celebration cake and candle. The restaurant has a great ambience even on a relatively quiet Monday and the view from the mezzanine over the bar is good fun.

This was a nice surprise, I booked because it was near to out theatre and we had limited time but we were both really wowed by how nice it all was. The staff were attentive and efficient without making us feel rushed. The food was excellent for a set menu and was better than we had hoped for. It felt like a really special dinner that would not have been out of place in a celebrity chef restaurant for 4 times the price.

Table wasn't ready on time. Waited in the lounge and ordered a heart and soul (a gin based cocktail) - the sugar alone almost killed me. The menu at Indigo is decently priced but none of the food was anything special. Service was slow - every time we had to ask for anything we'd have to call for service, no proactive checking up at all. The purple shirt uniform of the staff working at the Aldwych is corporate ugh - must change. Ordered the cod fillet which was a bit bland but otherwise fine. Other friends ordering smoked salmon weren't too appreciative. The Cabernet Sauvignon was over ripe and we left most of our carafe untouched. The Aldwych with its location, and its beautiful building could do so much better. Indigio needs an overhaul

We enjoyed a lovely 2 course pre-theatre lunch here a couple of weeks ago. Although we were delayed on the Tube the staff ensured we had a relaxed lunch completed with adequate time to reach the Theatre. The South African Pinotage in the carafe is an excellent red and very reasonable. I will definitely eat here again

The moment you arrive at Indigo a greeted at the restaurant you feel relaxed and at ease. The service is friendly, very knowledgeable about the preparation of the meals and efficient. The seating is comfortable and the ambience had a buzz which did not require music to enhance. The menu selection was good and there were 4 or items I would have chosen. Overall very good and would definitely recommend and visit again.

We visited Indigo on Saturday prior to going to the theatre and found it really delightful. We were given a warm welcome, shown to our table and asked if we were going to the theatre. There is obviously an awareness that theatre-goers will be under a reasonably strict timeline. Everything we ordered was excellent and was beautifully served. We intend to visist the restaurant again when we aren't under time pressure and will take the opportunity to enjoy the food and ambiance again. It is obviously a popular venue for cocktails and we saw some really delicious looking examples! We really recommend Indigo - and particularly if your theatre is in The Aldwych area.

There was a set menu that was excellent value and an a la carte too. The 'choose your own ingredients' salad from the a la carte was great; my companion ate from the set menu and enjoyed her risotto. Desserts and coffee were good and the service was friendly and efficient. I will certainly go again - a sanctuary providing good food in a busy part of town

Enjoyable and comfortable environment with nice, if not remarkable, food, well located for theatres. We had booked for the 3 course set menu offer with Prosecco, at £25. However one of our number chose to have 2 courses. She was charged the same as if she had had the 3 courses. We felt this was not good value, and has affected our appreciation of our evening there.

Indigo, set in the mezzanine of this Aldwych hotel, provides a much nicer dining experience than the subterranean Axis but the food is nowhere near as impressive as the sister restaurant downstairs, even if they probably share a kitchen (and prices). It's a superb venue for a pre-theatre meal for any of the shows in the area but we will be returning to Axis One rather than Indigo.

Nice not to be overfed especially when you're heading back to the theatre, but I'm not a person with a large appetite and I found the main course and starter portions extremely small. However, the tiny amount of ratatouille garnished with a very small plaice fillet was absolutely delicious. And I still had room for dessert. My husband's choice of pasta was definitely a much larger portion, so go for the carbs if you want a nice filling meal. Coffee was excellent.

This was my second visit to Indigo in as many months. It wasn't quite as good as the first but it was still very good. I had the chicken salad to start, my only criticism would be that there wasn't much chicken, the cumin dressing was very subttle but very good! We ordered a side order of new potatoes with our mains and they were delicious as was the pork. There was a slightly disappointing pudding selection but I had the mango and coconut fool and I wasn't disappointed, it was light, refreshing and tasty.

I have been dining at Indigo for 15 years. It's a super venue but it is expensive for what you get and 12.5% service charge/tip is steep. This time I had a rather indifferent mackerel pate for starters and some very plain pasta - not up to the high standard I expect and 2 glasses of wine - one at £13 and one at £8.50 is very pricey It's not cheap! and somehow the cooking seemed no longer special (which it use to be) A bit disappointed if I'm honest - although convent for Wolf Hall and BUTB double bill

Service was good, staff pleasant and friendly with a sense of humour. One was over the top and almost uncomfortably subservient, dressed in grey. Comfortable chairs, not too close to other diners. My rabbit was delicious and tender and my daughter's vegetarian meal was good too. My friend was not asked how well cooked she wanted her liver, luckily what came suited her. Young staff need more help with the wine list and how to serve wine.
