A word from Italian Caffe
The Italian Caffe is run by the same people that brought the Italian Kitchen to Glasgow. And its ethos is the same - fine, fresh food and superb wines in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
After visiting the enotecas of Italy we recognised a gap in Glasgow’s burgeoning bar and restaurant scene. Where can someone go who wants to enjoy a varied selection of good wine without paying a fortune for a bottle? We think our enoteca is the answer. With over 50 wines to choose from, plus our piccolo piatti, we believe we offer something a little bit different to other wine bars. We do, we serve our great food. We’re passionate about what we do and our customers recognize this. That’s why they keep coming back.
We think eating, and drinking, out in Glasgow has benefited from the Italian Caffe’s presence. But that’s just what we think. Why not come along and think for yourself.

Diner Reviews
  • "Booked for lunch during the festival / games, no problem getting a table and did not have not wait to be seated. Service was a wee bit slow but it was very busy so understandable. The food was fantastic and good portion sizes. I will definitely be back!"

  • "Having heard so many good things about the Italian caffe, I had been meaning to visit for some time - now I wish I had done it sooner! The food was exquisite, between 4 of us we had 12 different dishes and every single one was fantastic. A special mention for the tuna carpaccio- one of the best things I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Friendly, efficient staff & a surprisingly reasonable bill. What's not to like!"

  • "Food is always great here but the service was substandard thi time, two wrong dishes came, and a wrong wine and there was an overall lack of attention and long waits. Not their best night ever."

  • "This was our first visit to the Italian Caffe and it will certainly not be our last. We've been to italian tapas restaurants before and while nice enough, they are nowhere near the quality of Italian Caffe. The menu choices were excellent and everything we ordered was delicious, full of flavours. The atmosphere is important to us when we are dining and this didn't disappoint. There was a constant buzz but service didn't falter and we were asked a couple of times if we we were happy with our food and needed anything else. We really were pleasantly surprised in what I would call a hidden gem. Fantastic experience and I've already recommended the restaurant to family and friends so we will definitely be back!"

  • "We have been to the Italian Caffe several times. It is very convenient for City Halls. We have never been disappointed either with food or with service. It seems to solved the trick of good service with having a relaxed ambience."

  • "Food was amazing !! 4 friends ordered from tapas menu so tried abut if everything !! Was such good value ! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had a lovely meal at this restaurant and great value for money with the food being excellent. The only downside was a party of other diners at a nearby table who were so noisy we could hardly here ourselves speak."

  • "Have been here before with family for lunch, this time we went for a family birthday. We had booked ahead but was pretty full and busy so had to wait a little for table and service was a little slower than I would expect, but definitely worth going for the food! Absolutely delicious even if on the pricey side perhaps, we chose 3 dishes each from set menu for £15 per person, really really great food and good choice of options! "

  • "tried the pre-theatre twice now, both times pretty good; style is "small plates" - pick 2 or 3 £9 / £13. Familiar Italian fare but trying to be authentic. Quantities vary, but decent enough, standard of food pretty good esp. mushroom risotto which was excellent. Pre-theatre is until 6:30, after that it is standard menu but from a quick glance it looks similar and not much dearer, presumably bigger helpings."

  • "We have dined at the Italian Caffe many times and they have never disappointed. The food is always of a very high standard and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The menu choice is good and we have no hesitation in recommending the Italian Caffe to our friends"

  • "I found the small plates menu a good range of food and excellent quality. Always satisfies! Classic Italian with some nice individual touches, delicate risottos and some hearty meat dishes with nothing too large in portion size satisfying my need for variety."

  • "The food and wine were lovely as usual. The restaurant was very noisy with a particularly noisy party at one of the bigger tables but I suppose this can't be helped on a busy weekend. My only gripe would be that when I booked a table at The Italian Caffe I requested a booth as having been previously I was aware that the tables are far too small to hold a bottle of wine, some table water and the tapas that you order. As it was a Saturday and there was just the 2 of us we never received a booth so got stuck at the small table so had to put our wine on the floor and order our tapas as a starter and main so we could fit it all on very annoying. Maybe increase the size of your tables so guests don't feel crammed in."

  • "We booked the Italian Caffe, requesting a booth via OpenTable. Overall, we had a great couple of hours, the food was tasted every bit as good as the presentation, we loved the whole Italian Tapas thing, having a small starter and about five main courses between us, there was plenty of choice, the atmosphere was superb, a wee bit buzzy without being fussy or formal, the wine list was extensive (covering all tastes and costs). This was our first visit and I can guarantee that we will return. "

  • "We had eaten in this restaurant a couple of times in the past & had always found it satisfactory. However this time I was slightly disappointed by the dining experience. In terms of the food, there was far too much garlic used. This overpowered the flavour. I also felt that the table we were seated was in an awkward place in the restaurant. I felt very uncomfortable. Not sure I'll go back. A minor point, we were asked if we wanted Parmesan on a seafood pasta dish. This is a training need for employees"
    dined on 02/05/2014
  • "Relaxing atmosphere, good service and very enjoyable food. The small plates give an excellent choice and the steak and crab paella I would particularly recommend."
    dined on 26/04/2014
  • "Decllicious food properly seasoned with fresh ingredients. I always think that Italian food is over priced - I can guess how much the ingredients cost and £5 for a rocket and tomato salad without any explanation is a bit much - but this place made up for it. Excellent food."

  • "Good food, good service, nice atmosphere on a sunny day, not expensive. Slowly but surely working our way through the menu."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "Absolutely excellent Tapas especially recommend the risotto and small plates of pasta and Italian sausage and beans"

  • "We eat here regularly now and it never fails us: you get a friendly welcome from efficient, helpful staff; the menu is varied - we try something new each time; the food is very good; nice atmosphere too and you're never rushed. It's not expensive and the wine list is reasonable. The small plates menu is great for social, sharing eating and encourages you to try things."

  • "Had a really enjoyable meal at Italian Caffe on Friday night! Requested a booth and got one which was good for a private chat!"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "Popped in here on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was great- really tasty and the small plate option means you get to try many different things - provided your dining partners are into sharing that is. Oysters were fresh and delicious - apparently. However for me the sardines and then the tagliatelle with duck ragu were perfect. I shall be back."

  • "We have been to the italian kaffe a few times now and cannot rate the food highly enough. Its well cooked and well presented and is great value for money. The staff are pleasant and accommodating and we reckon its about the best italian in Glasgow."
    dined on 09/03/2014
  • "Would not go back. Issues: 1. We both came out stinkling of cooking - ventialtion very poor 2. My wife almost did the splits in the ladies due to wet floors 3. Not enough staff - service very slow 4. Full portion pasta dishes are not that 'full' - for £12-13? Really? 5. Spaghetti with king prawns tasteless - can do better at home 6. Italian sausage used was very bland Very disappointing. The restaurant is always busy so you would think it's because the food is great - perhaps just taking advantage of poor Glaswegians who don't know any better. Shame."
    dined on 08/03/2014
  • "The service, food and ambience were great until we ordered our desserts. These were both cold and didn't need much preparation but took ages to come, by which time we were irritated and keen to get home."
    dined on 06/03/2014
  • "I have been to this restaurant on a number of occasions and as always the food was excellent. This restaurant has everything for a great dining experience"
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "This was our second visit to Italian Caffee and we were not disappointed! As always choosing what to order took a while as there is a huge selection to choose from but the tapas format means between all our table we got to try a wide selection of dishes. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection and tasted delicious. The restaurant was busy and had a great buzzy atmosphere so perfect for a night out but perhaps not so good for business meetings but great for entertaining friends or clients. Only comment is that with some dishes costing almost £10 it is not the cheapest place for tapas but the quality of the offering more than makes up for the cost. Will definitely be back."

  • "What a fabulous little place to start our Saturday evening off. We don't often get out so it was a rare treat to go for dinner together and we couldn't have picked better. The food was simply amazing and we loved the "small plates" option so we could share. The sea bass on risotto we will be going back for! Tables are quite small so there wasn't a lot of room to put multiple plates but it didn't detract from the food."
    dined on 08/02/2014
  • "The food here is always great. You will never go hungry and there is a selection of food to suit all tastes. The wine selection is excellent, ranging from affordable to very expensive. The service could be better and lets the restaurant down by being a little cold and unfriendly. However, if you're looking for good food and drink I would highly recommend the Italian Cafe for a special occasion or anytime."
    dined on 02/02/2014
  • "A friend and I met for lunch and chose to select the two plates option each, sharing them between us. There was certainly plenty of food for us and each of our chosen dishes was well presented and very tasty. The menu was well laid out in sections and there was plenty to choose from. We also had a glass of wine each and the choices were plentiful. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for lunch."

  • "Been to the Italian Caffe before so was looking forward to returning. Our table was booked for 8pm and we were down to our table right away when we arrived. My boyfriend and I ordered the seafood platter for a starter which was outstanding last time. When it arrived the quality was again brilliant and we were busy tucking in and enjoying it when we realised there was no langostine on the platter as advertised on the menu. It took us ages to catch the attention of a waiter who checked, came back and said they'd run out of them and that was why there was a bit more if everything else than usual. That was ok but we which we had been told either when we ordered or it arrived at the table. The small plates were brilliant really tasty."

  • "Went to the Italian Caffe on saturday evening before a concert at City Halls. As usual, we had a very good meal with a mixture of small plates and conventional main courses. The waiting staff were attentive and met our every need. No one was hurrying us which can sometimes happen in other restaurants with pre theatre menus. Yet when we realised that we were starting to get close to concert starting time, the final paying was done most efficiently. Well done Italian Caffe."

  • "Chose the Italian Caffe again for its outstanding food consisting of small plates that you chose from a vast array. outstanding taste"
    dined on 31/12/2013
  • "Drinks were ordered quickly enough. However service slipped after this as we were left sitting with our menus for just under 30mins! No dedicated waiter per table so it was pot luck if someone noticed you needed service. Not very attentive on this trip I'm afraid. Food as always very tasty & good value. Let down by the slow service - if this slips anymore then customers will start to walk elsewhere!"
    dined on 28/12/2013
  • "Enjoyable evening at Italian Caffe. Great selection of small plates. Service was very good."

  • "The Italian Caffe is never disappointing and this time we had the Xmas set lunch - fantastic - from the gorgeous prawn risotto via lemon sole mornay to the pannetone bread & butter pudding - excellent value as well, Italian food with a French feel - the best of both worlds"

  • "Have been to the Italian Cafe quite a few times and last couple of times was disappointed. Was there again on Friday night and won't be back. Food not up to usual standards and choice on menu for full meals really disappointing."
