Diner Reviews
  • "This is the 4th time I have eaten at Kaspar's and again we had a very pleasant and relaxed meal. Mainly excellent service and well cooked fish and sea food. Not sure that the size of the cheese portions were in any way value for money, although the quality and taste of the cheeses were good. The decor is very elegant."

  • " My daughter, friend and I had a table by the window and looked out over the river. We had the set 3 course lunch and my caramelised goats cheese starter and main course of pork chop was nicely cooked and well presented. The finishing touch to the meal of a caramel and chocolate lollipop was a nice touch. However the desserts were disappointing. The floating island dessert consisted of a triangular piece of meringue which did not appear to have been poached in milk and the custard was incredibly sweet and slightly too thick. My daughters tiramisu also had far too much cream in it and not enough soaked sponge. Having said that we would definitely go back. because the setting, the staff, the ambience and the value for money was very good."

  • "Had an Easter dinner here. It was booked as a surprise a while ago and it did not disappoint. The choice and quality of food was fantastic and the service excellent. Everyone was attentive without being intrusive and being in the Savoy makes it extra special. "

  • "Set menu was ok, the venue was great. The a la carte looked amazing. Drinking in the bar was great."

  • "First time we have eaten here, and as it was a special occasion we decided to eat at Kaspar's in the Savoy. We were not disappointed - the food was impeccable and full of flavour. Not the biggest portions by any means, fine dining as opposed to your average restaurant and not cheap, but when you want to feel a bit special and enjoy delectable food, this is the place to go."

  • "We had the pre-theatre menu and found that there were only 3 choices per course whereas there used to be six. However this was not a problem because the dishes on offer for the starter and main course all sounded so good we would happily have eaten any of them and we thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. We felt pleasantly full after two courses so we did not sample the desserts and just settled for coffee which was very good but £5.50 for a medium-sized cup seemed a bit steep even for a 5=star hotel. The service as usual at the Savoy was very pleasant and efficient."

  • "Whilst the lunch was good I was disappointed that it was not amazing. I expect more from the Savoy and have certainly had better food at other restaurants. On the positive side it is always a treat just to be in The Savoy. I could not fault the staff."

  • "Delightful surroundings, first class service and a warm ambience, with views of the river front from some tables. The food was everything you'd expect at the Savoy, with well-balanced, perfectly cooked food. My friend raved about the Iles Flotant but it was all good. Having arrived early we were able to sit in the beautifully furnished lobby and admire the decor and clientele beforehand which really set the mood for the evening."

  • "We went to Kasar's for a birthday treat. We booked the Toptable special set menu with cocktail. This was very good value although all the wine is pricey. Our experience was a delight from start to finish: fine food, excellent service and wonderful ambience. We could not have had a better night."

  • "Hadn't been to the Savoy since its recent renovation and was coming into town for work from the States. Saw a prix fixe 3 course meal deal with a bellini and booked here for me and four others (two friends also in from the States and two from Putney). Had an amazing salmon starter followed by a cod fillet main and ended with a mango and meringue custard. Every course was amazing. The bellini had REAL peach juice in it - of course you expect that from a restaurant in the Savoy but one never knows in this lingeringly tight economy and we were doing prix fixe. Am well traveled with a very well developed palate - I would highly recommend dining here for lunch or dinner. Lovely experience all round! "

  • "This occassion was part of a birthday present for my wife and everything thing was absolutely perfect. I have nothing else to say other than that I can thoroughly recommend the experience."

  • "Good food altogether and nicely presented. Shame I didn't notice that an extra latte - never ordered, never consumed- was billed. And paid for."

  • "A very warm welcome and outdtanding customer service. The staff are very high quality young people well trained and professional. Food quality and presentation excellent. Ambiance excellent after the Savoy refurbishment programme. "

  • "We went there for my daughters birthday which was also Marathon day. The staff were really friendly, we had a lovely table overlooking the river so we had a great view of the runners. I had the fish cake with watercress salad, it was worth it for the dressing alone, others had the tuna tartare and scallops which were also judged as fabulous. My lamb was cooked just how I like it, two had the fish platter with peppered monkfish, salmon and sea bass, they both said was wonderful but felt too much pepper in the monkfish. The desserts were to die for, the syllabub was eaten with groans of pleasure, my tarte tartin tasted superb, the chocolate sphere was declared fabulous. Will definitely go again."

  • "- Table was not ready on arrival even after phoning ahead explaining we were running 15 mins late - Extremely limited choice (one only - Grey Goose) of Vodka's for a Martini. Frustration compounded by the fact that the Beaufort bar was next door and no offer to order from there even if a potential wait was expected and explained - Extremely poor service - wine had to be constantly asked to be poured. Water was not poured - we did ourselves. Once the order was taken for drinks and food we were basically left to fend for ourselves. - Poor service noted in the Beaufort Bar as well - told there was a waiting list when there was a table spare post our meal in Kaspar's, service slow, no water offered - the experience was like pulling teeth."

  • "My experience of the Savoy and Kaspars Bar, was fantastic. Second to none. We has planned just to have a quick meal, prior to our theatre engagement. We were so in awe of the decor, the staff and their attention to our own detail. We then went into the American bar. After the theatre we returned for a glass of champagne, before heading home. Every member of the Savoy staff was polite, in passing said hello and very curtious. Highly recommend an evening at the Savoy, no matter where you eat. We plan to stay next time."

  • "Great ambience & setting - complimented by good service."

  • "I booked for the Bellini special lunch offer for 7 guests and the manager told me that they were unaware of the details of my booking . I don't know who is to blame either top table or the restaurant but I was made to feel very awkward. Service was thereafter very disappointing and slow. The manager insisted they had no such offer with top table. It was insulting."
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Our revisit to the 'new' Savoy was marred by many loud people lying around, sloppily dressed, and the dining room had no intimate ambience. The American bar has also fallen foul of a overuse of ceding speaker -used by the piano player and certainly not required I. The small space is the Bar...absolutely no romance here, unless you are a good lip-reader. We plan to try their dinner dances to see if they can rekindle the true Savoy experience."

  • "Good food and service in a lovely setting. We will return."

  • "An excellent lunch for a special occasion! The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was good and the helpings were more than ample. The 3 courses with a Bellini gave sufficient choice from a range of options and enabled us to sit in the sunshine overlooking the Thames and enjoy our delicious meal.. The whole occasion was quite a privilege. I recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet meal away from the hubbub of the West End. I will definitely return."

  • "Food excellent. Service excellent. Felt a little rushed as we had a 1 hour 45 minute turn around time. We went to the American Bar (piano bar) and the pianist was trying his best to rise above all the conversations going on by paying loudly and singing. Quite loud and diffifult to have a conversation."
    dined on 09/04/2014
  • "Not our first time here. But our first before a show. Service was excellent and of course the food wonderful as usual. Great place to bring business clients too."

  • "Structured to exorbitant and extortionate alcohol prices !!! Desserts too limited !"
    dined on 06/04/2014
  • "Everything about the experience was perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a Saturday evening. The Gavi Di Gavi Ca Da Bosio was a fantastic wine choice and really complimented all of our courses. If you want to share starters we opted for the Fruit de mer platter and the Yellow fin tuna tartare, which was perfect. I had the Isle of Skye lobster as my main and my partner had the Dover sole both were outstanding. I definitely recommend Kaspar's a gem in an incredible location."
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "Whilst the first course, smoked salmon, was OK and the main course was adequate, the cheese selection was parsimonious in the extreme. Service was good and the decor was attractive but the seating along one wall was unappealing. Prices were high and did not constitute value for money. In comparison with dining at the RAC Club it fails on all counts - food, service, price and ambience. We will not return."

  • "My husband and I went to the Savoy for lunch to celebrate his birthday. The food was amazing. My only criticism would be where we were seated. Although I had requested the best possible table on the day, we were seated near the bar and asked if we could move. We were offered an alternative table which wasn't much better. The food and service however soon made us forget about this. I will definetely go back and recommend to friends."

  • "What else would you expect from The Savoy. We had dinner on Sunday evening. The food was exquisite and the portions generous too. Beautiful fresh fish cooked to perfection, and the price for portions of vegetables was the same as my local pub! Highly recommended, and why not have some cocktails after in one of the bars...we did and enjoyed immensely."

  • "I took my mum for lunch this weekend. The food and wine were delicous. I couldn't fault any aspect of my meal, one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I had the lamb - which I would thoroughly recommend."

  • "My friend and I went for dinner last saturday, the food was superb. Both of us ordered lamb, and probably it was the best lamb we had eaten in ages. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Excellent food, service and atmosphere."

  • "We had lunch on Saturday prior to going to the theatre. The food was lovely, lovely surroundings and friendly staff. Will definitely go back again."

  • "service could not have been better food portions small but expected, i thought they could have added another portion of veg within the charge rather than have to pay an extra £4.00 per portion. drinks/wine very expensive but expected restaurant very nice"

  • "I took my Mom on the toptable deal with 3 courses and a Bellini for Mothers Day. The food was great (the lamb rump especially) and we didn't feel restricted by the set menu. The service was attentive but not obtrusive, the overall atmosphere was warm and friendly but still felt like a real treat, the dining room is beautiful too. Head to the American Bar for a cocktail before."

  • "Visited with a friend to have a pre theatre meal. Good value with top table offer. We had the 3 course menu, the lamb was lovely and tender. Staff were very helpful. They made our evening very special. Would definitely go again."

  • "I booked a table of 2 for a pre-theatre dinner. The Bellini was a nice welcome drink. We both had the chicken livers to start which was delicious but the plate had a far too much garnish of leaves. I had the lamb for main and my husband had the Cod which we both enjoyed. The side dishes of creamed potatoes and savoy cabbage were divine but not enough of it for the extra charge of £4 per dish. Nice desserts. The staff were polite but needed to smile. The room was stunning but there was no atmosphere as the restaurant was very quiet and we were put into a corner. Maybe to have booked a little later or just go to the Grill as it has a much better atmosphere."

  • "When people say "It's years since I've been there" it is for a reason. Dining at The Savoy was something I used to do, very occasionally, but haven't "for years". Now there's a reason to return: Kaspar's. Fine food delivered with enough formality to be special, but not too much to make it stuffy. I had great cured fish and a thoroughly modern take on the mixed grill. Both fantastic. Added bonus of a Thames view means this is highly recommended."

  • "We were worried that we might not get in due to the dress code but not a problem, both of us had on high end jeans and t-shirts with comfortable walking shoes (what is a trainer?) and were seated promptly and without any hesitation. Dover sole is a 8 out of 10 and the pre-play menu is very good for selection and taste."
