A word from Kendell's Bistro
Kendell's Bistro is a casual Informal place to dine with the main focus on quality of food, wine and service within a French bistro atmosphere. It’s relaxed and informal - no waiters topping up wine glasses after every sip or sneaking up behind you with a six foot pepper mill. Cloth napkins but not starched, blackboard menus and open plan kitchen, intimate cosy candles flickering, friendly without pretence. In fact we are so french we don't charge for bread and we don't have a service charge!

  • "Hadn't been out for a while so decided to leave the sticks for the big city - Leeds. Booked Kendell's Bistro online, excellent choice! Everything was 5 star - the food, the ambience, the staff and the service. Do yourself a favour - go and have a great evening around town and finish with a wonderful meal at Kendell's, we did and loved it."

  • "Kendells was a revelation, at last a restaurant that has good food, lovely ambience and thoughtful staff. Wide variety of options on the menu, beautifully cooked and presented."

  • "I booked this with a friend as we were visiting from London and I had read it was the best place to eat in Leeds, we were not disappointed. When I first walked in I thought "was it Christmas" as the restaurant was full of twinkly lights, its not your typical bistro ambience, it was very busy, but relaxed and informal which i loved. The quality of food and wine was excellent and the very staff friendly. I ordered a seafood selection for my main, which was delicious, there is no menu as such as its on a massive chalk board on the wall as they change it so regularly, which can only be a good thing...... they offer to take a photo on your phone of the parts of the menu you cannot see which was a nice touch. Overall would highly recommend."

  • "We recently went to Kendalls for a meal, we were very impressed with the service which was extremely efficient but did not make you feel rushed. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We were treated to some champagne and petit fours as it was our anniversary meal which was a very thoughtful touch. The choice of food was good and our dishes were delicious. It is perhaps a little more pricy than other restaurants in Leeds but nevertheless we felt we had had a lovely special meal in a restaurant which was buzzing with a great atmosphere. I would certainly recommend Kendalls, particularly for a special occasion. Thank you for a great dining experience!"

  • "Booked for our 2 year anniversary. Very accommodating, arranged for flowers on the table for my wife and we were given complimentary glasses of champagne and a couple of mini desserts. Staff were extremely busy but this didn't affect serving. Food was fantastic. Kendells Bistro is a Parisian gem tucked away and hiding in plain sight."

  • "Having dined at Kendell's several times before we knew we would have an enjoyable meal & we weren't disappointed. We took friends who were staying with us from across the Pennines and they loved the experience. Being a Saturday evening we knew it would be very busy & slightly noisy but it all added to the ambience. The food is the best we have eaten outside of France - the scallops were divine, foie gras delicious, the lamb perfectly cooked and the blackcurrant sauce on the duck breast is the best sauce I've ever had with duck. We were too full to attempt a dessert so we will have to return soon (especially for my favourite parfait with prunes soaked in Armagnac)."

  • "I'd never been to Leeds before last week. We travelled from the station through the city by taxi. When we arrived outside it appeared to be small, with no real view of inside. But once inside the atmosphere was imense. The staff were friendly asking if we were celebrating, I had taken my dad for his birthday, and at the end of the night they brought him their own version of a birthday cake. Very thoughtful. The food was exquisite and the service amazing, the menus were all in chalk boards as the product is seasonal, so the waiters asked if we would like them to photograph it for us. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing service."

  • "The staff, the food the atmosphere, everything made my 54th birthday really special. The complementary fizz and petit fours were a lovely touch and the staff seemed genuinely warm and friendly in their birthday wishes and excellent service. This is the third time I've eaten at Kendalls and it hasn't disappointed yet. I'll be back!"

  • "I had Kendell's recommended by a friend when enquiring about places to go in Leeds to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. He's a bit of a foodie and after looking at the reviews on different sites I decided Kendell's was a safe bet! I booked on Open Table and in the notes mentioned that it was my boyfriends birthday. When we arrived he was wished Happy Birthday instantly and two glasses of sparkling were sent over to our table courtesy of the Maître D - lovely touch. The food melted in our mouths, the portions were generous and the service was brilliant. I'd certainly recommend Kendell's to anyone and everyone!"

  • "Prioir to visiting, we had heard many a good review and the food, service and atmosphere did not fail to meet our high expectations. It is easy to see why so many people have good things to say about Kendell's Bistro. The staff were highly attentive throughout and made our anniversary an evening to remember."

  • "I went to Kendell's to treat my brother and sister's birthday. The food was amazing! The service was great too, they made my brother and sister feel special without over doing it. The staff were so friendly and really took the time to explain the menus and answered any questions we had. The only downside was when the restaurant got busier. We ended up waiting a while to order desserts and receiving the bill. However, overall, i'd definitely come back again :)"

  • "V welcoming hostess & waiting staff. Quaint restaurant with an eclectic crowd & great atmosphere, bar the annoying French music & chit chat from other tables that are way way to close together for comfortable dining. The value (three course and half bottle wine) for £25 is great value! And was very high quality. How ever the weak spot was the dessert, a macaroon it was NOT! Dry. Crunchy and basically stale! It was such a disappointment to an overall great experience. However I would come again. But perhaps try the al a carte menu instead."

  • "The French food served at Kendells is exquisite. The menu was filled with amazing choices of divine sounding food which made it hard to choose. Everything we ordered was gorgeous, and the complimentary proseco and gaspatio were a delightful bonus."

We had three courses, all of which were delicious. We found the staff friendly and attentive and were pleasantly surprised when the bill came as felt it was excellent value for the standard of food. Will definitely be visiting again."

  • "This is the second time we have dined at Kendellsbistro and it did not disappoint. Our friends who had not been before were very impressed with the decor and atmosphere. The service was good but not intrusive. The food excellent and the waitresses very friendly and helpful. Although we ate at tea time we were not in a hurry as our concert started later and the staff never tried to hurry us. We had a really enjoyable experience and will certainly eat here again. I would recommend Kendellsbistro very highly to anyone."

  • "What a wonderful restaurant, it was our second visit and my girlfriend was taking me out for a special treat. A friendly greeting, a lovely table under a precariously leaning Eiffel Tower and a complimentary cocktail as it was my 18th (again) ... ahem. For starters we shared a whole Camembert warmed enough to be a melty dish of cheesy goodness, with a plate of vegetables and bread to dip into it fantastic. Our main course was another shared dish of the Cote de boeuf. A perfectly cooked ribeye, served on a board with both bernaise and pepper sauces, some duck fat potatoes and a beautiful salad with parmesan. I cannot accurately describe how good that was - just go and eat it. We passed on dessert but will be back as soon as we can."

  • "A brilliant meal. The menu changes daily, and on this occasion we had the three course pre-theatre menu without the wine. The black pudding starter was authentically French and delicious. For main we had hanger steak. Our server explained it to us and that it needed to be cooked medium rare to appreciate the taste. We were not disappointed - it was wonderful. Tarte au citron completed the meal, which again was typically French style. We went on Saturday, and the restaurant was buzzing and almost full by 6pm but service was quick and efficient, without being intrusive, the servers polite and informative. Overall a great experience and one we will repeat. If you enjoy French food, whatever the occasion look no further than this little gem."
