A word from Kensington Place
Notting Hill’s favorite neighborhood brasserie is a much loved iconic spot in the
heart of W8 serving modern British brasserie style food with a strong emphasis on fish
and seafood. Expect to find a fabulous space, a buzzing ambience and fantastic service
with a recently refreshed interior that is both chic and relaxed.
The wine list, recently winning ‘Best Wine List’ award at Taste of London 2012, features a small boutique range of wines from around the world with an aim to match and complement the large array of fresh fish available on the menu.
Kensington Place’s private dining room, seats up to 24 guests on one table, or up to 40 guests in total and can hold as many as 70 guests for a drinks and canapés reception. The space is one of the very few purpose-built private rooms in London. It has a bright and airy feel with a high vaulted ceiling , in the center of which sits a generous skylight with eclectic décor and art work adorning the walls.

I hadn't been to KP for several months. Excellent service from a mainly new team. Food the right amount and tasty, good choice on good value special offer. Pity they had run out of house white and Prosecco slightly too sweet.

Mackerel starter was presented ‘en timbale’, with the fish wrapped around a stack of potato salad and pickled shallots. Tasting both delicate and lively, it was an ideal starter. The suckling pig main was similarly exquisite: full of flavour, it simply melted in the mouth. Black pudding and a mini-pasty proved effective accompaniments. The wine list, though wide-ranging, bore the mark-ups expected of a Kensington Church Street location, and service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended - will definitely return!

Kensington Place in its current guise is back to top form. The atmosphere is light and airy so works as well for lunch as dinner. The cooking is interesting and the helpings small enough to enjoy three courses. They have the surprisingly rare skill of being as good at desserts as main courses. Their buttermilk panna cotta is full of interesting flavours and not at all heavy. It is not difficult to get a table which makes it an easy place to go to on the spur of the moment.

Saturday lunch. KP has a fresh nautical feeling so you feel you are at the seaside. Just miss the sound of gulls. The fish is extremely good. Adding cream to Jerusalem Artichoke soup was not a good idea since it merely masked the lovely flavour and made it heavier. Will avoid creamy courses in future. Otherwise a success.

Friendly welcome; attentive service (altho' forgot to bring the wine until reminded); very good food and portions quite generous but not too large. As it was a week-day lunch hour, noise levels were low (have been here previously on a Saturday lunch-time when it can be very noisy due to acoustics). Generally a pleasant and relaxing mealtime. Will certainly plan on returning.

I hadn't been to Kensington Place for many years, so wasn't sure whether it might have become disappointing. But in fact we really enjoyed our Sunday lunch there - great ambience, friendly and attentive staff, and beautifully presented, really tasty food (we had the set lunch menu, which we thought was reasonably good value given the quality of the food). I would certainly recommend Kensington Place to anyone wanting to eat clean, modern food in a light, buzzy environment.

The offer menu was not flagged up at the restaurant and the menu had to be asked for. The crab starter was overwhelmed by the spice and seemed to have added salt, the suckling pig was also over salted and all the desserts that we tried (4) were too sweet for our palates. The roast beef was good but not up to the price. The wine list was priced perhaps 10% higher than in many equivalent restaurants. Whilst sufficiently attentive the staff gave the air of just going through the motions. However service was prompt. I've dined at this restaurant perhaps twice a year for the last ten years, this was the most disappointing experience. I think that I will stick to Clarke's across the road in future.

I actually have not been at Kensington Place for quite a while and I just returned last weekend for dinner (being incetivated by the London Restaurant Festival). Great positive surprise. The food was very good and well presented. Being here we surely opted for fish plates only and the 3-course fix proce menu plus a glass of prosecco was a very good deal indeed. Desserts also were delicious. We are definitely going to return here more regularly.

Conveniently located without being smack on the main street, meaning it's a fairly calm place where you can have a conversation but without being boring. Keep it to a party of 2-6. The food quality was great -- mussels were tasty, plump, fresh and sand was well cleaned. I had the prosecco course set - prosecco was rather flat however and without which, you may as well order a la carte than take the set.

In restaurant for early dinner. Partner had foie gras starter and then fish & chips for main. They were both competent. I had a prawn cocktail to start and it was very tasty. I then had a second starter of the smoked fish platter. This had smoked salmon, mackerel pieces and a fish pate, with rye toast. These components were very good. It also included large sardines which were very difficult to eat due to the many small bones. Finally there was smoked cod roe. Now I love all things fishy - but this was vile!

We chose the 3 course menu which was a simple menu in culinary terms but very well executed indeed. My soup was velvety and flavourful, my fish cooked to perfection and the dessert full of fruit and tasty. I thought this was great value for the quality of the food with attentive whilst not overbearing service. My only observation (and it was a very windy night with the temp dropping so possibly not their fault) was that the restaurant was a little cold. That is the only reason the ambiance has not scored more highly! I would definitely go again. And next time I'll work my way around the a la carte.

l booked a table for two to welcome my Turkish guest. l wanted to please her by taking her to your restaurant. This was our first meeting. She was so kind that she didn't critise the food. just said sorry the portion is too large to finish. But l can see the truth. It was just a mass of food. Sorry about being critical. But the food was so heavy and greasy that we could finish only one third of our plate. The taste of food was mediocre as well. We liked the bread, which was nice and fresh. The wine was so so, which was not cheap either. One bottle of wine was £27. Overall we didn't enjoy it.

We had a lovely evening - the food is to be highly recommended with a large variety of fresh fish (particularly enjoyable for those who do not eat shellfish!) But there were too many large groups who were over-exuberant and very loud which made for a very noisy atmosphere. You certainly can't go here for a quiet or romantic evening!

Its nice to see KP still going strong. Lunchtime crowd on the Sunday was very family orientated and at times the restaurant sounded like a nursery. The set menu was very good value; the main course of braised pork belly, ham hock pasty and black pudding was well done although my wife's fish pie was on the salty side. Well worth trying.

Not quite "the finest wines known to humanity" but well chosen and with fish as fresh and lovingly chosen as this, you can't go wrong. The glug glug water jugs bring a smile to each diner who has a thirst for London tap water! Best of all, the oysters are served so beautifully and are chosen with care and attention, it is a foodie delight. Can't wait for the next excuse to dine there.

The food is very good, almost to MIchelin star quaity. We have been coming here for years and have seen how the menu has changed, but has consistently been very good. The menu is mainly fish but other meat dishes are available - we both went for a Devon cran, Scottish steak followed by an apple crumble with cream or a lemon meringue sundae, both of which were delicious. There is an a la carte menu (our bill was £113 including wine) or you can often get £20-25 simpler menus through TopTable. Recommended. No formal dress code but very smart (I'd recommend smart jeans minimum)

Predominantly a seafood restaurant much to my boyfriends surprise, Kensington Place in Notting Hill is a busy, casual restaurant with minimal decor and great food. We had the 2 course set menu with prosecco for £20, which was great value. There are some meat options for those that aren't keen on seafood as well.

A friendly welcome on arrival. We had our drinks order taken quite quickly and given menus, but we waited a good 15-20 minutes before our food order was taken. We had the set menu, which was good value at £25 for three courses and the food was tasty and a sufficient amount. My husband had ordered an additional vegetable side order, which was forgotten but rectified and they did not charge us for it. This was my second visit to Kensington Place and both times I felt the service was slow and disorganised. The food is good and would rate it as value for money. I will give it a third try and hope that the service will eventually improve!

Only criticism was that the main course chicken dish needed a little more in the way of vegetable accompaniment.
