A word from Kensington Place
Notting Hill’s favorite neighborhood brasserie is a much loved iconic spot in the
heart of W8 serving modern British brasserie style food with a strong emphasis on fish
and seafood. Expect to find a fabulous space, a buzzing ambience and fantastic service
with a recently refreshed interior that is both chic and relaxed.
The wine list, recently winning ‘Best Wine List’ award at Taste of London 2012, features a small boutique range of wines from around the world with an aim to match and complement the large array of fresh fish available on the menu.
Kensington Place’s private dining room, seats up to 24 guests on one table, or up to 40 guests in total and can hold as many as 70 guests for a drinks and canapés reception. The space is one of the very few purpose-built private rooms in London. It has a bright and airy feel with a high vaulted ceiling , in the center of which sits a generous skylight with eclectic décor and art work adorning the walls.

Booked an anniversary dinner here with my fiancé and it was wonderful as always. Great food, perfect service and an enjoyable atmosphere. It's as good at lunchtime as it is in the evening and has been an reliable favourite of mine for many years. Consistently good, great food and seamless, discreet yet attentive service. Has a lovely buzz and is as good for a romantic evening as it is for dinner with friends, have even been for business lunch. Manages to be both elegant and relaxed. My fiancé had never been and really enjoyed it. Always great! Thank-you for another lovely evening Kensington place!

We were delighted with the food, service and ambience of Kensington Place. One error in the ordering was rectified immediately. The wine list was a little pricey but the set menu option with wine was excellent value. A lovely personal touch, willing executed, was an inscription of Happy Birthday on a desert plate. Would not hesitate about going back again, and sooner rather than later.

This place deserves its reputation. There's nowhere better for fresh well presented fish in this part of London. The special menu is top value. Service surprisingly friendly and professional for the price and in Notting Hill. A great spacious room, cool ambiance and good music all draws you back or more. Fills fast so make sure you book.

We tried the fish barbeque for lunch (and understand we were the first people to do so. The food was very simple, but tasty, the fish having been marinded in various sauces first. With a bottle of London-brewed beer, it was a perfect summer lunch.

The staff so professional, their service was amazing, with especial attention to the small details. Is a place we totally recommend to anyone looking for a high quality food.

Went here with a girlfriend for lunch and had a lovely yellow fin tuna steak with exquisite vegetables and a gorgeous presentation. We weren't having wine, so I can't speak to the quality of the wine list. The desserts looked good though I didn't have one. Service was attentive but not too pushy, I will definitely come back here.

Kensington Place has been my favourite restaurant for over 20 years. Somehow over a long period of time, they have been able to maintain a consistently high standard, balancing high quality with friendliness. The menu is always inventive, always excellent. The service is friendly yet discrete and alway very prompt. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

I went for lunch with some girlfriends on a Saturday and the service was fantastic. The waiters were so helpful and friendly and were more than happy to accommodate any request we made. My friends had come to London from Bournemouth so it was much appreciated that they made our lunch so enjoyable. The food was very good, and excellent value for the set menu. Lovely prosecco and generous serving too! Only downside was that there were only 3 other tables, so there wasn't much atmosphere. They hadn't told us until the day that they had a private event on after us so had deliberately kept it quiet- it would have been good to know when we booked.

    Happyeater
    Dined on 2/6/2014
Although I emailed the restaurant in advance that I was bringing 2 vegetarians, no attempt was made to produce anything but was on the menu. This consisted of one main risotto dish and although I'm not a vegetarian, I know that this and pasta seem the only choice of uninspired chefs. It was particularly unwelcome as my guests were just back from Italy. There were a couple of meatless appetisers (or those that could be made meatless) but again not very inspiring. There was also a lot of noise coming from the bar, which made conversation difficult at times. This was also not helped by the initially loud background music (softened when we asked). Why do restaurants persist in thinking that dinners don't want to make conversation?

Caught up with a friend after work for dinner here. I've been meaning to come for the last three years of living nearby. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere was super relaxed. I love the fishy water jugs!! The food was great - oysters and a mixed smoked fish platter for starters. I had grilled monk fish for mains, that was excellent if not a little salty (but not a criticism I just loathe salt so I suspect it would be perfect for just about anyone else). My friend had the battered fish and chips and loved it. Wine by the glass (we were being good) was excellent. Dessert of chocolate mousse, milk ice cream and some peanutty crunchy stuff was really divine. Thumbs up from me & extra points for smiley staff.

I had an excellent lunch this past Friday at KP. Main course cod was as fresh as could be and the chicken and leek terrine was great. Sat by the window and found the daytime ambiance very appealing. Service was quite good. I had fixed price lunch and thought it was well priced. Some of the a la carte items seemed a bit expensive.

We ate here on a Thursday night and found that although the food was good, the service was quite bad. We sat with no water and no menus for 5 minutes before someone first came to us and when the staff did come it wasn't the best. Across various waiters and waitresses they all said the words words ("Enjoy your meal"), but generally in passing and with no interest in any potential response. For example, after delivering a dish a waitress would swing by and without stopping nor waiting for a response mutter "How is your meal?", not caring or displaying any interest if she may have forgotten anything. All in all we would not go back.

I love this restaurant and always go there when I am looking to have excellent fish. Not only is the produce carefully sourced, local, and brilliantly fresh (most of it was fished in cornwall over night), but it is also very nicely prepared, in an un-pretentious yet careful way. I love the grilled fish menu, where you can either chose a simple mackerel or a generous slice of turbot, both perfectly cooked, with some green vegetable sides, or roast potatoes if you prefer. Finally, the waiters are very friendly and extremely helpful with children. We were there for lunch with our 1 year old son, who had a great time.
