A word from Kettner's
Originally a series of four Georgian town houses, Kettner’s was first opened as a restaurant by Auguste Kettner, (chef to Napoleon III) in 1867.

Kettner’s elegant 1930’s style Brasserie serves Modern European dishes all day with a range of menus to suit all occasions. Kettner’s is situated in the heart of theatre land and the Set Menu is the perfect choice at lunch and for pre and post theatre dining. Live music from Tuesday to Saturday on a beautiful white grand piano sets the evening ambience.

Kettner's Bar by Champagne Laurent-Perrier has an innovative cocktail menu inspired by the characters and legends of Kettner’s scandalous past. There is also a huge a range of champagnes.

Kettner’s seven private spaces on the top two floors of the house are perfect for parties, meetings, private dining and more.
Don your finest, (or your favourite old cardigan,) and drink, dine and revel with us at Kettner’s.

Diner Reviews
  • "We couldn't't have picked a better place to celebrate my friends special birthday. The setting was great, I couldn't fault the service and the food was delicious - it was the perfect ending to the perfect day."

  • "I have been to Kettner's several times and always enjoy. I booked an afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday with the girls and then moved on to the bar. Although service was always friendly, on this visit it was a little slow or lacking in its usual slickness. Perhaps some new staff who have not been trained as well? Otherwise a great afternoon/evening!"

  • "We had lunch at Kettner's and found the food to be very good indeed. The atmosphere was good too - quiet but not dull. The decor is lovely and I would definitely go back - perhaps for dinner next time!"

  • "We booked a table at Kettners as we stumbled across it on OpenTable. Four friends, three bottles of red and absolutely fantastic food. The menu was spot on, enough variety to suit tastes but not too overwhelming. The waiting staff were brilliant but not overly in your face and best of all with the 50% off deal when we got the bill we were astounded at the value. We will be going back...soon!"

  • "Dined on a friday at 7. It took 25 minutes for the waiter to take our food order.....and then we were told at 9.20 to leave as the table was needed. We ordered white wine, but there was no ice bucket, so it became warm quite quickly, and to top off the service when the waiter came to clear he asked can I clear and we said no, as one diner was still eating, but he cleared anyway until she said very firmly - I am still eating. We did manage to be given two party menus when we asked for the dessert menu. Food was nice, nothing special. All in all it was a nice evening, but I would not reccommend going and paying full prce for food. And be prepared for less than average service."

  • "Despite being a native Londoner I've never been to Kettners, always preferring to grab a bit to eat before theatre in Chinatown. But what a revelation! It's quite a grown-up place, quiet and civilised. Service was just as I like - quick, non-invasive and efficient. Delicious cocktails and well-cooked food. Arrived at 5.45 for a 6pm table. Had a quick drink in the bar area. Sat down at 6.10. Out of there at 7.10 in plenty of time to wander to the theatre and have a drink there before the play started. Will go again."

  • "Once again we enjoyed a wonderful visit to Kettners, this time for our 43rd wedding anniversary. After a glass of champagne in the bar we then had a pre theatre meal from the main menu, including desert with pudding wines. I have enjoyed many meals at Kettners over the past 15 years and it always lives up to it's high reputation."

  • "We had a great meal here. Particularly good value with the 50% off food deal. The food was well presented and delicious. The only downside was the level of noise in the restaurant. Some rather loud fellow diners made it harder to hear the conversation around our table and impossible to appreciate the pianist, which was a shame."

  • "Kettners is ideal for early lunch with clients as it is quiet therefore you are able to talk. The food is always great and is good value. I also use my tastecard which makes it extremely cheap for the standand of food and setting."

  • "We did the 50% off offer and got great value for money. Would have been better if we could have sat nearer to the piano."
    dined on 12/08/2014
  • "Had dinner here with a friend on Monday evening. We had a drink in the bar first and then moved through for a really yummy dinner. We both had the boeuf bourguignon (which was simply wonderful!) and the creme brulee (equally yum!). I have dined here regularly over the years and it never fails to disappoint."

  • "Excellent food, had the pollock which was delicious, beautifully presented dish. Great service, not overbearing even though the ambience is rather posh generally."

  • "Excellent venue but far too noisy and tables too close together"

  • "Excellent service. Even for two young teenagers selections were good and quality of food excellent. Service quick whilst nit feeling rushed. Would certainly return"

  • "Went to lunch before going to theatre, service was excellent and food was great. Beware though, the cheeseburger is huge!!"

  • "We were a party of 6 for a special occasion. Food and cocktails were good - well presented and an intereresting range to choose from. But the service was so bad as to be funny - we had to repeat all our orders several times and nearly everything was muddled up (giving the cocktail to the 6 month pregnant lady and the mocktail to the other etc). We just swapped things round ourselves, but not what we would have expected given the price and reputation of the venue."

  • "Our meal was fine, particularly with Opentable offer, & very convenient for the Palace Theatre. However, as we were getting ready to leave we decided to visit the toilets on the first floor but had to fight our way through a long queue of people waiting to pay for an event upstairs - had there been a fire in the kitchen it could have been a very difficult situation. Health & Safety seemed to have gone "right out of the window" which was a bit worrying."

  • "I went to Kettner's with friends. The restaurant is lovely but food just wasn't up to scratch and so we were all a little dissapointed. The main dishes of duck, lamb and guinea fowl were all quite bland. Not a cheap place to dine if you don't have the Opentable offer"
    dined on 06/08/2014
  • "Beacause is my birthday I choose kettners i know there food. We enjoy our dinner even is expensive.JUST need to improve space because very tight each table. Every time you want go u always disturb the the other table. And because is summer you should invest in air condition."

  • "I selected this restaurant for a 60th birthday lunch and was not disappointed. Service was efficient and unobtrusive, menu selection good and the food nicely cooked and presented. The preceding cocktails added to the occasion. All-in-all a thoroughly enjoyable meal - we hope to be back again soon."
    dined on 04/08/2014
  • "Very historic restaurant in great part of London. Food was mostly alright, although some dishes appeared to have been prepared long before serving them. Meat did not seem freshly cooked. Same for smoked salmon appetizer. Service was odd. Started with one waiter, then switched to another, then got the bill and tipped yet another."
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "We were looked after very well. Service was prompt and attentive and we had plenty of time to eat three courses before we had to get to the theatre. We chose from the pre-theatre menu - there was a good choice and the food was delicious."
    dined on 02/08/2014
  • "I love Kettners for most occasions. I've had a major birthday party in their private rooms, taken clients for dinner downstairs, met friends for drinks in the bar and have been on dates their too. It seems to adapt to any occasion and the staff are always terrific. Love Kettners."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "I was very surprised with the good quality of the food and the wine selection. Great ambiance and the bathrooms are very beautiful, clean and tastefully decorated. Great price and I am definitely going back."

  • "Always a pleasure dining at Kettners. Hope to return again soon."

  • "Good deal booked through opentable. Summer pudding was particularly delicious!"
    dined on 31/07/2014
  • "Kettner's in Soho is still a London institution, and although it has been around for years, it hasn't dated or changed at all - food is great, with options for everyone, service is always polite and friendly, and it suits all ages, from romantic meals to evenings out with friends."
    dined on 30/07/2014
  • "Acknowledged immediately on arrival by cheery, friednly staff. Request for step-free access to a table immediately recognised. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Service was friendly and efficient. Food good and well priced. Perfect place for pre-theatre supper."
    dined on 29/07/2014
  • "Chosen as wanted something a little special. (For adult family rendezvous in London.) Pleasant room. Felt hopeful but.. Yes it was a hot day but refeshing white wine was not cold. We were brought ice cubes. Starters sounded ok but apart from light crispy tarte were just ok... My seabass didnt have crispy skin ,twice fried chips were more like reheats, Disappointed unlikely to return.. as nothing special. Table top was worn at edges and heat lifting stain.. Would have been better with a crisp white tablecloth.."

  • "I wanted to take my fiancé somewhere special for his birthday and he'd been mentioning Kettners for a while (having been years ago), so I thought it would be the perfect place for us. It was. We arrived a little early and were given the option of having a drink in the bar or to be seated straight away. We chose the latter. Our waitress was lovely and friendly, and gave us time to choose drinks and our meal. We were very tempted by the A La Carte menu, but in the end decided to go for the excellent 2/3 course set menu. In the end, we both had 3 courses (something we very very rarely do) and all our choices were superb. We will definitely be going back."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "All was good. The fish was not outstandingly tasty but was good and perfectly cooked. Lovely place."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "Nice meal before going to see Miss Saigon which is almost next door to Kettners. Although not an extensive menu the food was very tasty and well cooked. I like the ambiance of Kettners. The staff are very friendly and help to make your meal a pleasant experience. We have eaten here a few times and would not hesitate to go back."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "Disappointed that waiter had no idea whether the veal was 'rose' veal or even what it was! Bad practice in the bar of taking customers credit cards and simply leaving them behind the bar. If you've ever had a card cloned I would advise against this practice especially as it is not necessary. But good food and on the whole an enjoyable meal."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "We went to Kettner's before we went to the theatre on a Saturday afternoon and it was delightful. The restaurant is lovely in a French style setting. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and the desserts are to die for. I would truly recommend having the paired dessert wine or port with which ever dessert you choose, it made the lunch for me :) The lunch was pricey as we did go for a more expensive wine but as a celebration it was well worth it. I would recommend Kettner's to friends and family and hope to visit again one day."
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "This is a lovely restaurant and good for pre theatre. Unfortunately the food would not meet the standard of a local Angus Steak House. As you would expect for this area, the prices are high, and the service excellent. Food though has to be of a higher standard than this. The food isn't bad, but when you are paying this amount I expected more than a dry steak and sides fit for a good pub. Personally, next time I would pick a chain restaurant where I get what I pay for."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "Kettner's is in a great location for theatre land, and looks wonderful - lot's of turn of the (19th) century features and a real feeling of old fashioned luxury. We had an Open Table deal which was outstanding value with delicious food from the (2 courses and a Bellini for £20 menu served quickly and efficiently. It was marred only by the absolutely disgusting Proseeco Bellini cocktails - just drink the stuff neat!"
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Been coming here from time to time for more than 20 years. The food was good, service professional and friendly and the ambience was very good. Brought some Singaporean friends here as this was their first visit to London and was pleased to see that Kettners reputarion is still very much deserved."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Overall the meal was OK, not outstanding in any way, the portions were a small, despite the fairly high prices. In particular the drinks in the bar and wine prices were very high. In particular some of the Sparkling English Wine prices were outrageous. Bloombury Curvee £25 a bottle in Waitrose, £ 68.50 at also Nytimber £31.99, £75.00 at Kettne'rs. Also as a customer we realise that Kettner's are not buying single bottles but many cases, so you will not even be paying the above prices per bottle, and to charge over £13 for 2 gin and tonics again outrageous!. On the day of our visit it was a very warm day and all the pubs and other eating places were swamped with people. The bar and restaurant at was almost empty, I wonder why!!"
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Despite it being after the theatre on a weekday evening, Kettners still had a good ambience and the food lived up to it's usual high standard."
