A word from Kettner's
Originally a series of four Georgian town houses, Kettner’s was first opened as a restaurant by Auguste Kettner, (chef to Napoleon III) in 1867.

Kettner’s elegant 1930’s style Brasserie serves Modern European dishes all day with a range of menus to suit all occasions. Kettner’s is situated in the heart of theatre land and the Set Menu is the perfect choice at lunch and for pre and post theatre dining. Live music from Tuesday to Saturday on a beautiful white grand piano sets the evening ambience.

Kettner's Bar by Champagne Laurent-Perrier has an innovative cocktail menu inspired by the characters and legends of Kettner’s scandalous past. There is also a huge a range of champagnes.

Kettner’s seven private spaces on the top two floors of the house are perfect for parties, meetings, private dining and more.
Don your finest, (or your favourite old cardigan,) and drink, dine and revel with us at Kettner’s.

Diner Reviews
  • "Acknowledged immediately on arrival by cheery, friednly staff. Request for step-free access to a table immediately recognised. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Service was friendly and efficient. Food good and well priced. Perfect place for pre-theatre supper."

  • "Chosen as wanted something a little special. (For adult family rendezvous in London.) Pleasant room. Felt hopeful but.. Yes it was a hot day but refeshing white wine was not cold. We were brought ice cubes. Starters sounded ok but apart from light crispy tarte were just ok... My seabass didnt have crispy skin ,twice fried chips were more like reheats, Disappointed unlikely to return.. as nothing special. Table top was worn at edges and heat lifting stain.. Would have been better with a crisp white tablecloth.."

  • "I wanted to take my fiancé somewhere special for his birthday and he'd been mentioning Kettners for a while (having been years ago), so I thought it would be the perfect place for us. It was. We arrived a little early and were given the option of having a drink in the bar or to be seated straight away. We chose the latter. Our waitress was lovely and friendly, and gave us time to choose drinks and our meal. We were very tempted by the A La Carte menu, but in the end decided to go for the excellent 2/3 course set menu. In the end, we both had 3 courses (something we very very rarely do) and all our choices were superb. We will definitely be going back."

  • "All was good. The fish was not outstandingly tasty but was good and perfectly cooked. Lovely place."

  • "Nice meal before going to see Miss Saigon which is almost next door to Kettners. Although not an extensive menu the food was very tasty and well cooked. I like the ambiance of Kettners. The staff are very friendly and help to make your meal a pleasant experience. We have eaten here a few times and would not hesitate to go back."

  • "Disappointed that waiter had no idea whether the veal was 'rose' veal or even what it was! Bad practice in the bar of taking customers credit cards and simply leaving them behind the bar. If you've ever had a card cloned I would advise against this practice especially as it is not necessary. But good food and on the whole an enjoyable meal."

  • "We went to Kettner's before we went to the theatre on a Saturday afternoon and it was delightful. The restaurant is lovely in a French style setting. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good and the desserts are to die for. I would truly recommend having the paired dessert wine or port with which ever dessert you choose, it made the lunch for me :) The lunch was pricey as we did go for a more expensive wine but as a celebration it was well worth it. I would recommend Kettner's to friends and family and hope to visit again one day."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant and good for pre theatre. Unfortunately the food would not meet the standard of a local Angus Steak House. As you would expect for this area, the prices are high, and the service excellent. Food though has to be of a higher standard than this. The food isn't bad, but when you are paying this amount I expected more than a dry steak and sides fit for a good pub. Personally, next time I would pick a chain restaurant where I get what I pay for."

  • "Kettner's is in a great location for theatre land, and looks wonderful - lot's of turn of the (19th) century features and a real feeling of old fashioned luxury. We had an Open Table deal which was outstanding value with delicious food from the (2 courses and a Bellini for £20 menu served quickly and efficiently. It was marred only by the absolutely disgusting Proseeco Bellini cocktails - just drink the stuff neat!"

  • "Been coming here from time to time for more than 20 years. The food was good, service professional and friendly and the ambience was very good. Brought some Singaporean friends here as this was their first visit to London and was pleased to see that Kettners reputarion is still very much deserved."

  • "Overall the meal was OK, not outstanding in any way, the portions were a small, despite the fairly high prices. In particular the drinks in the bar and wine prices were very high. In particular some of the Sparkling English Wine prices were outrageous. Bloombury Curvee £25 a bottle in Waitrose, £ 68.50 at also Nytimber £31.99, £75.00 at Kettne'rs. Also as a customer we realise that Kettner's are not buying single bottles but many cases, so you will not even be paying the above prices per bottle, and to charge over £13 for 2 gin and tonics again outrageous!. On the day of our visit it was a very warm day and all the pubs and other eating places were swamped with people. The bar and restaurant at was almost empty, I wonder why!!"

  • "We went to Kettner's after a matinee at the theatre. We were greeted by lovely staff and taken to a table by a window, which was as requested at the time of booking. We were quickly given menus and offered a drink. The service was superb, our orders were quickly taken and the food came within a short time. The restaurant was very busy with a great atmosphere. Overall, Kettner's was great and I would certainly recommend it to anyone."

  • "A good menu with a variety of dishes to suit most tastes. The food was well presented, efficiently served and extremely tasty. The only adverse comment is that it was an extremely warm evening and the provision of ceiling fans or similar would have been welcomed."

  • "Main course (rack of lamb was excellent). Starter (Goat's cheese crottin) and dessert (chocolate tart) were average (quite bland). Great atmosphere and location. While the service was generally v good, is was sometimes a bit over the top. At this price range (£160 for 3 courses) for two people there are a lot of better alternatives based purely on the quality of the food. Overall an enjoyable evening."

  • "First visit to Kettner's. We were intending to have the Summer Menu, special offer which seemed good value, however, the choice was very limited and none of it to our liking. We ate off the a la carte. mussels and tuna nicoise were tasty as was the vegetarian wellington. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which was both very hot and extremely noisy and not conducive to a relaxing meal. We therefore ate quickly and left. On leaving I asked about the cooler and quieter dining area near the entrance which we were rushed through on arrival and was told we could dined there! Hope we get the 1000 points as did not avail ourselves of the special menu."

  • "Really like the top table menu. Food was great - all 3 courses. Service is slow - but they are v busy. Just make sure to order the bill way before you need it."

  • "Went here with friends on a summer's evening and enjoyed their special summer menu - the building itself is very quirky and it has great big windows through which to view the delights of Soho."

  • "We had booked for a celebratory evening meal , a warm welcome on arival , the dining area is lovely , not too formal but a lovely decor to complement the sublime food . Serving staff were friendly and knowledgable , and added to our experience. We had been meaning to come here for some time and we were not dissapointed at all."

  • "The champagne and wine was fantastic, the food was good, but not great. The restaurant is lively and fun."

  • "Had a great meal with fantastic service and the bill was very reasonable!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Kettners was lovely - a really great atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal coupled with some marvellous food. The "set menu" for pre/post theatre is good, but worth going a la carte if you can (mussels and crab cakes are really good). Desserts were great too - creme brulee in particular, although the pavlova was a little chewy and lacking in crunch for our tastes (flavours were great though)."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "I always love going to Kettner's as there is often a good ambience and good value for money. However recently I dined with a friend and we opted for the summer menu. Food wasn't great and definitely not worth the value nor the reputation of the place. I was disappointed and wouldn't choose the summer menu again."

  • "Good for pre-theatre meal. Attentive service, food tasty. We had the Summer Menu."

    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Friendly welcoming staff. We were shown to table by an open window which was ok as it was a hot day but the table was covered in dust which had blown in from the outside. When I pointed this out the staff quickly cleaned the table and the others nearby. We had a nice leasurely meal prior to going to the theatre."

  • "The whole experience was lovely. At the time was eating with friends but would just be suited for a romantic meal with a partner. The ambiance and little touches such as the decor all contributed to the overall experience. Would defiantly recommend (and have already done so)."

  • "The starters was mediocre, the mains was horrible. My gf ordered the Stone Bass and I order the Pork Belly, both was fried to a crisp and very dry. Pork, is already quite dry if over cooked, but this was so dry i struggled to wash down bites even with water. I returned it in the end, would not recommend this to anyone"

  • "Always a lovely place to dine. A place where one can chat without noise and chaos. A gem in the heart of Soho."
    dined on 30/06/2014
  • "My husband and I came here prior to seeing a show. The venue is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to check in our shopping bags and our meal was lovely. We didn't feel rushed and we had plenty of time to get to our show afterwards. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."
    dined on 30/06/2014
  • "Location is great, but this place is living on reputation and hoping that by applying enough booze to the customers they won't notice how bad the food is! We ordered 4 dishes- 1 starter and 1 main course were sent back - inedible. Uninspired, insipid, badly cooked - the chef should be embarrassed. Felt like the DeLorean had gone back to 1988 - the world has moved on - Kettners hasn't."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Very lively restaurant in a fun part of London. Good for drinks & dinner; lots of energy!"

  • "Really nice dinner at kettners - I had thought the menu looked a bit unadventurous but all really well cooked and very nice space to eat in. Would recommend."

  • "Dined her pre theatre, went for the a la carte menu. Set menu very limited, Nicely presented tasty food. Would recommend for dinner, not for a special occasion though."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "This is the 3rd time we have eaten here and we ate late afternoon (4.30). the evening menu was to start at 5pm but the waiter convinced it was almost the same menu but it wasn't. If we had waited half an hour it would have been better. I think he just wanted us to be served an out of the way which was the only disappointment. Otherwise, good food at a reasonable price. Next time will be better again, hopefully."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "We had lunch at Kettners before seeing a show and picked it mostly for its location close to the theatre. The food was nice and our waiter was very friendly and helpful when it came to questions about the food. The only issue was the lack of atmosphere - the large room sounded busy and buzzing, but we were sat in the room just before it which was deserted except for one other table, so it was very quiet."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "We went for a pre-theatre meal and loved every second - the food was superb, the venue is gorgeous, the location is great and service was excellent."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Met up with friends in the lovely surroundings of kettners, the menu has changed over the years I understand that but this was the worse meal I've had there ever! Whole plaice that was so small and bony it had no meat on it at all. I had the potted salmon, it was served within 60 seconds of order! Too salty and not very good specially as it's been prepared and had formed a skin on top. So 2 courses and I was still hungry. The Eton mess OK £5 extra and cappuccino was OK. Bill came to £35 per head without additional drinks just the glass of bikinis."
