A word from Kettner's
Originally a series of four Georgian town houses, Kettner’s was first opened as a restaurant by Auguste Kettner, (chef to Napoleon III) in 1867.

Kettner’s elegant 1930’s style Brasserie serves Modern European dishes all day with a range of menus to suit all occasions. Kettner’s is situated in the heart of theatre land and the Set Menu is the perfect choice at lunch and for pre and post theatre dining. Live music from Tuesday to Saturday on a beautiful white grand piano sets the evening ambience.

Kettner's Bar by Champagne Laurent-Perrier has an innovative cocktail menu inspired by the characters and legends of Kettner’s scandalous past. There is also a huge a range of champagnes.

Kettner’s seven private spaces on the top two floors of the house are perfect for parties, meetings, private dining and more.
Don your finest, (or your favourite old cardigan,) and drink, dine and revel with us at Kettner’s.

We chose off the pre-theatre menu which was either 2 or 3 courses. Duck terrine and kumquat chutney followed by salmon. Both were very tasty. Piano playing in the background was very nice, although a little loud at times. Great service from the waiting staff. Would definitely visit again.

Hi I have visited the restaurant several times in the past - usually in the evening. Saturday was very disappointing. We has a table for 12:00 noon for brunch, waited 20 mins and had to ask to have our order taken, the 2 streak sandwiches were chewy, my veg wellington although lovely to look at and taste was virtually cold as was my friends Fishcakes. Typical - when you want to recommend a place to someone and then take them there and be let down :(

After recommendation by Tripadvisor, we booked this restaurant after Miss Saigon (which was amazing). Sorry to say but we felt the air was gone out when we arrived at 22.05. The waiters was more keen on cleaning the other tables than servicing us! We order a 2 course standard meal as we thought it was closing time!

The setting is exceptional, and the service meticulous and friendly. The food itself is very good, though not of outstanding value, and the overall experience is really worth a try, particularly if you find yourself in the are before or after a West end show. Beware that the pre-theatre menu ends at 6.30pm: a quarter of an hour too early if you ask me. A plus: an extensive wine and champagne list, and a great champagne bar with live music once a week and a Cocktail of the week for less than 7pounds! Miss it at your own risk...

We often use Ketners after we have been to a theatre matinee. We really like to use the bar before we eat, plenty of cocktails to choose from. There is always a good atmosphere in the resturant no matter what time of evening we eat . The food is always of a good standard and reasonable prices. We will be back again in a couple of weeks.

Was expecting something more from Kettner's, having eaten here before. I have had afternoon tea at many of the top London hotels and was expecting something similar. How disappointed I was. From pouring our own tea, no top up on the sandwiches or cakes and the scones were cold. Very disappointing.

Raw mussels are never a good thing, I had an almost entire bowl of them, not a great start. Tepid sides dishes, under-seasoned beef. The carpaccio was good though but overall the food was very disappointing. The ambience was good, wine list also good and the service ok, it's a bit of a tourist trap so it's largely all frill and no substance. Unlikely to return.

First visit since new ownership. Its lost that opulance that Kettners had. Nice but the luxury finish has gone. Tables sticky, toliets messy, attention to detail gone. Very nice food, good service until the bill came. We chose not to pay the "optional" serivce charge. Our waitress came to the table and asked " why havent you paid the serivce charge",my repsonse.its opitional. ! I asked the manager over,he explaiined they ask staff to ask as its normally a reflection of the lack of service. What an outragoeus thing to expect staff to do.Waitress didnt ask in a nice enquiring way, she was direct and had attitude.Id rather leave a personal tip than pay service charge. Managment could see my point at all. Disappointed, wont return again.

One of our favourites for location, ambience & food. Look for special offers, but the pre-theatre menu was also very good this time. Coq au vin & apple crumble were delightful. Staff were stretched at busy times & our wine bottle was nowhere near our table for self service top-ups. 12.5% service included, but the card machine invites you to add more - bit cheeky!

The restaurant was heaving on Saturday but the staff coped with great efficiency and charm. Starters of mussels, 3 bird terrine and goats cheese with persillade were very good. Mains of fishcakes and duck were a bit "safe" but fine, desserts included a fruity pavlova and a portion of peanut ice cream both sweet and creamy. Imaginative cocktails and a very good Pouilly Fume completed a delightful evening. Too noisy for a romantic meal or to catch up with long lost friends but just the ticket for a lively, feel good, night out.

Kettners has always been one of my favourite soho restaurants so was really looking forward to a pre-theatre meal with friends. Unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. We had the set menu and the starters were all gorgeous, however the mains were overcooked, dry and verging on inedible. 3 of us ate about half of our meal and one left theirs entirely. To be fair to the waiting staff they didn;t charge us for one meal and did offer to change the meal for something else but as we were going to the theatre there just wasn't time. Really hope things improve otherwise a soho institution will be lost

Booked table for 3 in eve of 8th October. The service was very slow by a sweet but totally inexperienced server. Ordered drinks did not arrive, food was slow to come and the portions too small - a Main course of Fishcakes = 3 * squash ball sized cakes underseasoned and without veg or salad was a lowlight. Prices are high but it seems that they can get away with it - the place was busy.

i was taking my sister in law for the first time first time after being a frequent visitor for the past 8 years. it was her 30th birthday. Sadly two of the meals came out cold and this really ruined the meal. They also forgot drinks orders which meant we had to ask more than twice to get the drinks we had ordered. We did not stay for desert and therefore did not get the celebration plate which kettners puts on for special occasions. The manager did remove the charge for the two meals and the service charge which was good. but i am left wondering if i should ever return!!!

Nice ambience but food a let down. Tiny portion of dry overcooked hake on bland tasteless chickpeas. Small bakewell tart for dessert was fine, nothing special. Husband's fishcakes were nice but tiny. Wine list overpriced with cheapest 175ml at £7. We ordered a different glass each & both were average. Overall it felt really overpriced for the food they were serving.

Booked this for my parents before heading off to the theatre. I called ahead that afternoon and ordered two glasses of champagne to be brought to their table on arrival which was booked and paid for easily and arrived at their table as promised. They said both the food (three courses on the pre-theatre meal) and service was very good, and that they would certainly return the next time they are in London.

Chose Kettners as used to go there years ago. Loved it then even though it was a bit shabby at the edges. The location is great and it suits all ages so is always a good choice whoever you are meeting up with. The food was good, not excellent but I enjoyed it. I had onion soup followed by the partridge, very nice. The wine list is varied and the house wine is good without breaking the bank! The service was very professional and friendly. I will definitely become a fan again.

We only chose simple dishes which I imagine is the way to go at Kettners. The food was of a good standard, but iots best qualities were excellent friendly service, the ambiance of the building and its great location in the middle of Soho close to theatres and clubs. I'd recommend it for lunch when you haven't much time and for a pre theatre dinner. Prices, considering the location, are reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried.

The room was surprisingly quiet when we arrived for our 11.30am booking on a Sunday as there was only one other table of people... However the place filled up by the time we left. We've been a number of times and it never disappoints... The service is always professional and courteous.i had eggs Benedict which was perfectly prepared and a nice sized portion and my partner had the scrambled eggs with salmon which was as expected. It a great location and perfect for a brunch if you don't want a full scene. Great for business lunches as well.
