A word from Kettner's
Originally a series of four Georgian town houses, Kettner’s was first opened as a restaurant by Auguste Kettner, (chef to Napoleon III) in 1867.

Kettner’s elegant 1930’s style Brasserie serves Modern European dishes all day with a range of menus to suit all occasions. Kettner’s is situated in the heart of theatre land and the Set Menu is the perfect choice at lunch and for pre and post theatre dining. Live music from Tuesday to Saturday on a beautiful white grand piano sets the evening ambience.

Kettner's Bar by Champagne Laurent-Perrier has an innovative cocktail menu inspired by the characters and legends of Kettner’s scandalous past. There is also a huge a range of champagnes.

Kettner’s seven private spaces on the top two floors of the house are perfect for parties, meetings, private dining and more.
Don your finest, (or your favourite old cardigan,) and drink, dine and revel with us at Kettner’s.

Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Kettner's after a matinee at the theatre. We were greeted by lovely staff and taken to a table by a window, which was as requested at the time of booking. We were quickly given menus and offered a drink. The service was superb, our orders were quickly taken and the food came within a short time. The restaurant was very busy with a great atmosphere. Overall, Kettner's was great and I would certainly recommend it to anyone."

  • "A good menu with a variety of dishes to suit most tastes. The food was well presented, efficiently served and extremely tasty. The only adverse comment is that it was an extremely warm evening and the provision of ceiling fans or similar would have been welcomed."

  • "First visit to Kettner's. We were intending to have the Summer Menu, special offer which seemed good value, however, the choice was very limited and none of it to our liking. We ate off the a la carte. mussels and tuna nicoise were tasty as was the vegetarian wellington. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which was both very hot and extremely noisy and not conducive to a relaxing meal. We therefore ate quickly and left. On leaving I asked about the cooler and quieter dining area near the entrance which we were rushed through on arrival and was told we could dined there! Hope we get the 1000 points as did not avail ourselves of the special menu."

  • "Really like the top table menu. Food was great - all 3 courses. Service is slow - but they are v busy. Just make sure to order the bill way before you need it."

  • "Went here with friends on a summer's evening and enjoyed their special summer menu - the building itself is very quirky and it has great big windows through which to view the delights of Soho."

  • "We had booked for a celebratory evening meal , a warm welcome on arival , the dining area is lovely , not too formal but a lovely decor to complement the sublime food . Serving staff were friendly and knowledgable , and added to our experience. We had been meaning to come here for some time and we were not dissapointed at all."

  • "The champagne and wine was fantastic, the food was good, but not great. The restaurant is lively and fun."

  • "Had a great meal with fantastic service and the bill was very reasonable!"

  • "Kettners was lovely - a really great atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal coupled with some marvellous food. The "set menu" for pre/post theatre is good, but worth going a la carte if you can (mussels and crab cakes are really good). Desserts were great too - creme brulee in particular, although the pavlova was a little chewy and lacking in crunch for our tastes (flavours were great though)."

  • "I always love going to Kettner's as there is often a good ambience and good value for money. However recently I dined with a friend and we opted for the summer menu. Food wasn't great and definitely not worth the value nor the reputation of the place. I was disappointed and wouldn't choose the summer menu again."

  • "Visited this time for a Client meeting with lunch - great service, good food, lovely wine, lovely having the windows open for a breeze, plenty of space and privacy."

  • "Lovely decor and ambiance matched by attentive service and great food. We had the summer menu which was good value for money"

  • "Friendly welcoming staff. We were shown to table by an open window which was ok as it was a hot day but the table was covered in dust which had blown in from the outside. When I pointed this out the staff quickly cleaned the table and the others nearby. We had a nice leasurely meal prior to going to the theatre."

  • "The whole experience was lovely. At the time was eating with friends but would just be suited for a romantic meal with a partner. The ambiance and little touches such as the decor all contributed to the overall experience. Would defiantly recommend (and have already done so)."

  • "The starters was mediocre, the mains was horrible. My gf ordered the Stone Bass and I order the Pork Belly, both was fried to a crisp and very dry. Pork, is already quite dry if over cooked, but this was so dry i struggled to wash down bites even with water. I returned it in the end, would not recommend this to anyone"

  • "Always a lovely place to dine. A place where one can chat without noise and chaos. A gem in the heart of Soho."

  • "My husband and I came here prior to seeing a show. The venue is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to check in our shopping bags and our meal was lovely. We didn't feel rushed and we had plenty of time to get to our show afterwards. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "Location is great, but this place is living on reputation and hoping that by applying enough booze to the customers they won't notice how bad the food is! We ordered 4 dishes- 1 starter and 1 main course were sent back - inedible. Uninspired, insipid, badly cooked - the chef should be embarrassed. Felt like the DeLorean had gone back to 1988 - the world has moved on - Kettners hasn't."

  • "Very lively restaurant in a fun part of London. Good for drinks & dinner; lots of energy!"

  • "Really nice dinner at kettners - I had thought the menu looked a bit unadventurous but all really well cooked and very nice space to eat in. Would recommend."

  • "Dined her pre theatre, went for the a la carte menu. Set menu very limited, Nicely presented tasty food. Would recommend for dinner, not for a special occasion though."

  • "This is the 3rd time we have eaten here and we ate late afternoon (4.30). the evening menu was to start at 5pm but the waiter convinced it was almost the same menu but it wasn't. If we had waited half an hour it would have been better. I think he just wanted us to be served an out of the way which was the only disappointment. Otherwise, good food at a reasonable price. Next time will be better again, hopefully."

  • "We had lunch at Kettners before seeing a show and picked it mostly for its location close to the theatre. The food was nice and our waiter was very friendly and helpful when it came to questions about the food. The only issue was the lack of atmosphere - the large room sounded busy and buzzing, but we were sat in the room just before it which was deserted except for one other table, so it was very quiet."

  • "We went for a pre-theatre meal and loved every second - the food was superb, the venue is gorgeous, the location is great and service was excellent."

  • "Met up with friends in the lovely surroundings of kettners, the menu has changed over the years I understand that but this was the worse meal I've had there ever! Whole plaice that was so small and bony it had no meat on it at all. I had the potted salmon, it was served within 60 seconds of order! Too salty and not very good specially as it's been prepared and had formed a skin on top. So 2 courses and I was still hungry. The Eton mess OK £5 extra and cappuccino was OK. Bill came to £35 per head without additional drinks just the glass of bikinis."

  • "Had a great meal with friends to celebratey mum's birthday. Fabulous waiter."

  • "Kettners is an oasis of calm in the bustling Soho scene. The menu choices were many and varied and not a boring option to be seen. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "the restaurant has got superb ambience, but the quality of food is only OK. and also, it's not worthwhile to pay 20 quid for the cabaret show."
    dined on 20/06/2014
  • "There was some confusion over the terms of booking. I had understood the offer was two courses for £25but they said it was three courses + cocktail for that price but from a lighter menu. The difference between the offer as I understood it and the full price charged off the menu they gave me was only about £5 so in the end I paid the full bill but the experience was unpleasant and I'm left with the feeling that they didn't stand by what was originally offered. I particularly told them I'd come for the open table offer, both when I booked and when I arrived and in those circumstances if the offer was off a different menu I should have been shown it. I've rated the restaurant without reference to this misunderstanding and found it average."

  • "I've been meaning to eat here for a while so when I saw the offer it was a great opportunity to try it out. Pianist was playing whilst we ate. Service was great. A few big groups so the volume was loud but it was a great deal with lovely food. The chocolate pot left us all wanting more. Will definitely be back to one of their speciality evenings or to try the a la carte menu."

  • "One of my favourite restaurants, starting with a drink in the gorgeous champagne bar and then a delicious meal in the lovely restaurant which always serves tasty food , with professional but friendly service. The decor is a delight."
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "Six friends had lunch from the Summer menu offer (£20 for two courses and a Bellini) We asked for and were given a circular table. The courses were plentiful which is not usually the case with a limited set menu so two courses were enough. There was a choice of Bellini normally selling at £9. At 1.30 it was very noisy but quiet ended down later. We were not hurried and stayed over two hours. The ladies toilet was fine unlike the negative review posted earlier this week for the Men's room. All in all a good experience."

  • "My friends & I have been to Kettner's for dinner a few times now and we have always very much enjoyed yet. However, on this occasion it was very disappointing. The food wasn't that great & the portion sizes seem to have shrunk a fair bit which makes it a very expensive place to eat when you leave still feeling hungry. I don't think we will be going back any time soon."

  • "Lovely meal and excellent service just round the corner from the Prince Edward Theatre"
    dined on 18/06/2014
  • "I'm very fond of Kettners and have previously been impressed with the quality of the set price pre-theatre meal but on this occasion the food was of an extremely poor standard. The salmon and crayfish pate was completely unseasoned salmon covered in a layer of butter with no crayfish to be found - not what I expected at all! The main course was no better. A real shame as the experience has put me off another visit....."
    dined on 17/06/2014
  • "We enjoyed Kettners 2-course set meal with bellini. The bellini was a bit murky, possibly too much peach syrup but tasted good and the food was so good that the bellini was soon forgotten in the face of delicious terrine and chicken salad. We ate quite early so the restaurant was only just getting warmed up but despite being a large room it was animated and the waiting staff were very attentive. Always game for something new on the wine front, the Uruguayan Chardonnay proved a surprising success and served in a pichet was just the right amount to share over a light dinner. Would thoroughly recommend the set menu and looking forward to going back soon to try the fuller selection."
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "Kettners is a fail safe for somewhere that has nice surroundings with great cocktails, friendly but proffesional staff and wonderful food. Sometimes is bustling/a little noisy so if you want a more peaceful setting, ask for a corner table."
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "I took two companions to dinner for the first time at Kettners last Saturday and met them in the back room of the bar - a thoroughly dingy place and not the quality I had anticipated. The dining room was better but the whole place is definitely in need of a refurbishment. At present it's more two star than five star. The food and service were very good, but let down by the decor. After the meal I went upstairs to the Gents, walked through the door, then realised the liquid all over my shoes from the huge puddle on the floor was urine from a blocked urinal. A nice end to the evening! I wouldn't go again unless they do a complete refurb. I'm sticking to five star hotels from now on."
