A word from Kozu
Kozu, momentarily known as Takahashi is a concept developed by Mark Barnett proprietor of Mao Tai for 29 years and Nobuisha Takahashi who was formally trained in Toyko for 10 years and head sushi chef in both Nobu London and Nobu Cape Town

Kozu is a vibrant and contemporary restaurant serving Japanese food. It is a place for friends to meet and enjoy themselves whilst sharing plates of delicious and beautifully prepared food from tempura to aromatic grilled meats, fish and vegetables from the robata charcoal grill to mouth watering sushi and sashimi freshly prepared at the sushi bar where you can sit, eat and watch the talented Taka and his fellow sushi chefs at work. You can enjoy a pre or post dinner cocktail at Kozu’s classic cocktail bar, or you can sit at the bar with your cocktail and try a taster from the bar menu of the delicious dishes that are available on the main menu.

We were the only customer for Saturday lunch. More staff than customer. Expensive small portions. However I love all things yuzu and hojicha. This restaurant has the right idea for fancy original Japanese dishes. But bigger portions to draw a following first.

Beef teriyaki was tender and rare in the centre. Really nice. However, I went for the sushi, which was a disappointment. The rolls weren't great, and the sashimi was cut sloppily and had hard bits still attached. Unfortunately, the service was also inattentive.

The ambience was beautiful and they had a wonderful drink selection. The food presentation was beautiful and the Sushi was delicious. The beef teriyaki came out raw, I did not eat my meal but would recommend the Sushi and dumplings.

Was looking forward to finding a decent Japanese restaurant in SW6 but this is not it. Starters of tempura prawn, salt and pepper squid and soft shell crab were ok but no better. Portions were small and expensive (average over £10 each). Pork belly and blackened cod were both ok but again not great and small portions. Overall dinner including .5l of sake plus 3 beers was over £150 - for this kind of money, I expect more. Also, our table was in the bar area and it didn't really feel like eating in a restaurant. Left feeling hungry.

If you're looking for somewhere that is something a little more than the usual then this is it and if you love suhsi you will love Kozu. We sat on the seating at the sushi bar which added to the experience watching the masters in action and being served by your personal chef. Apart from the food, the bar offers an excellent drink selection which includes some of their own Japanese fusion cocktails. Two of us enjoyed a brilliant evening dining out, however if you're in the area and fancy a light nibble and some good drinks - do it, it's perfect for it.

Mao Tai - we will return! We went for new years eve dinner (have a child so had to be home for 10pm as babysitter was going out!) lovely meal. It is expensive but delicious. Only negative is that the waitress didn't really help us with our food choice - we ordered WAY too much which obviously cost more - it would have been good to have some tips.

Food was delicious and our waiter very good on telling us how much to order for 6 people. Charming front of house. My only quibble was the constant pouring wine which interrupted the conversation. The bottles were opened away from the table and we strangely ended up with a very large tally of bottles on the bill which given how many of us there were with two not drinking was impossible. Why cannot restaurants learn that being overly attentive is as annoying as being not attentive. Having a waiter constantly buzzing round the table like an unwanted fly is quite unsettling. Give people time to drink some of the glass rather than topping up every sip. They seem to be pushing constantly for another bottle to be ordered.

I have always loved Mai Tai but hadn't been for about 6 months so ventured again with my boyfriend last Saturday evening. It was as good as ever...food excellent, great ambience (I was surprised it wasn't full) and service attentive but not intrusive. It is not inexpensive so people shouldnt think its just a casual local place, but I often compare it to other restaurants in the same higher price bracket and it is no comparison & without any of the pretence! we actually recommended it to friends at brunch the morning after. Very very good!

We went to Mao Tai for a birthday dinner. We had pre-dinner cocktails in the bar (which were absolutely delicious, although very expensive) and then ordered a selection of starters and dumplings to share between the five of us. All of the food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive. The atmosphere of the bar and restaurant was brilliant too - will definitely be going back!

Probably. But just for the food, it was a Saturday night and wasn't very busy. The food is great if you pick right! I love spicy food and picked a dish with chilly but it wasn't hot at all. I would recommend getting a few dishes to share among the table, the portion sizes are big and the food comes very quickly so not great if you like to take your time over dinner.

I had good memories of dining at this restaurant a couple of years ago. This time I was disappointed with both the food and the service. The staff were unfriendly from the moment we walked in. They got our order wrong and were unapologetic that they gave us a meat version of our vegetarian choice. The food came out in dribs and drabs and we had to remind them of food we were still waiting for. we had to ask several times to get cutlery and extra suaces. The food was nice but not outstanding. I wouldn't go back

I went to Mao Tai with my husband and friends. The food is amazing, we had the dim sum and the tempura prawns for starters to share, and it was divine! We thought the service was not as it should be for that type of place. It was my friend's birthday, and I asked at the beginning if they could bring a little cake with a candle, and they said yes, but then forgot about it! But overall a vy nice place to eat out.

I have eaten at Mao Tai before, and always enjoyed it. However, we had booked in for dinner after the Polo. The service was shocking - no one to show you to your table, took over half an hour to even get water. Diners at other tables were also complaining. They were clearly understaffed, but made no effort to apologise, or explain the delays, just saying they were 'very busy'. After 40 minutes we left and had to try to find another place to eat at. A disappointing experience, which is a pity, as the food is always good there.

Cocktail menu and drinks were splendid, although new bartender was a bit grumpy and bitter. Food was excellent - loved the rock shrimp tempura, miso black cod, and tuna tartare. However, the prices approach Nobu (£36 for cod, £32 for tuna tartare) without the same level of excellent quality, service, or ambience. A bit steep for Parsons Green. Would still return for special occasions or business.

Great food, served 'communal style'. Reasonable prices, though the portions could have been a bigger. As the night progressed service slowed down to a crawl - we were handed a dessert menu and no one took our order for over 20 minutes, so we decided against having a dessert in the end. The restaurant was lively but not 100% full, so not sure what the problem was there...
