A word from La Belle Epoque
Welcome to La Belle Époque - Gourmet French cuisine with contemporary world influences.

The restaurant is proud to announce it was awarded 2 AA Rosettes from the AA for exceptional cuisine at the end of last year.La Belle Époque translated is the "Beautiful Era", and is our inspiration for this restaurant that emerged from the period in European social history which became recognised as the "golden age" – a time when new technologies and medical discoveries were found and when politics, art and literature underwent radical transformation.

In the culinary sense this period is enormously relevant to our philosophy of progression, optimism and modernism.

  • Food better than the service

They were obviously very busy the night we were there, and the service suffered. The appetizers and main courses were very good, but the desserts did not sound appealing so we chose to have cheese, which was very good.

  • Somewhat irritating

Went for a business lunch needing somewhere quiet but good. It was quiet - we were the only 2 there. Selected menu du jour to be told that amuse bouche, starter, main and dessert would arrive on 1 plate at the same time. Asked if they could serve them 1 at a time, was told yes but it will cost more. Stupid & irritating. Food variable - rabbit very good, sheep's cheese tart average, dessert poor. Gave my car park ticket to validate - disappeared for 10 minutes. At the barrier had to pay £12. Ridiculous. Won't bother going back - food's not quite good enough, the concept of being served all courses together is pathetic. Insulting to pay these prices and then be charged for the car park. Won't bother again, won't recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food, my friend who was a bit hesitant to try french food is now a convert to french crusine. Pritesh was exceptional in providing a service that made our special evening truly memorable. Flawless experience, will be returning very soon.

We should have known from the start, We asked if there were any specials we needed to know about - we were told 'everything we serve is special'. Specially high prices for specially small portions delivered with specially poor service. Courses not arriving at same time, still water topped up with sparkling, reminders needed about drinks orders, on choosing the cheese board being told 'you are only allowed 4 pieces' (we obviously looked like people who were going to pig out with a 10 cheese selection). Food is probably quite good but portions almost too small to tell - if it wasn't for the bread basket would have left as hungry as we arrived. I don't have problem paying these prices but for them I expect the full 'fine dining' experience

To find a restaurant with the service second to none and the food outstanding is a rarity. One such place however is La Belle Epoque. Every course was not only delicious but had the appearance of a work of art. It looked too good to eat.

  • Best business lunch at Heathrow

    Dined on 31/5/2013
Very good food, reasonable prices, relatively quiet at lunchtime and excellent overall design makes this restaurant the best place at Heathrow to have a quiet business or celebratory lunch. We had excellent food, served quickly and without fuss, and the price was pretty reasonable for this quality. The restaurant deserves its rosettes, and was a great choice while waiting for an early afternoon plane.

We enjoyed two meals here, once before long trip to Canada, once after trip. First meal & experience was great, second spoiled by noisy, rampaging kids. First time really was like fine dining experience. Second time, the food was still great, but service was very slow and their was no attempt to ask parents to control their monsters. A fine dining resturant would not allow noisy children. Still, food, great, gastronomic menu worth trying, staff friendly, ambience variable.

My mother and I ate at this restaurant when I attended a 'Flying with confidence Course' at Heathrow Airport. The meal was a bit pricey but worth every penny spend. The waiters were very attentive. Even a fussy eater would find something to eat. The food is French, well prepared and served with a good presentation.

Modern decor with modern interpretations of some french classics, which are always well presented and prepared. Service is always excellent. Ambiance is good. Having dined very happily at LBE in May, I was disappointed by my recent meal. The 'fancy' bread provided (slices of raisin bread, fluffy and tasteless brown, olive-studded) heralded a fussy main (the crepe filled with greasy bamboo sprouts with a stripe of apple purée alongside---misleadingly described as oat and apple tortellini or some such, accompanying the pork was both ridiculous and unappetising), and a dessert (citron tart) that could have come off any food hall cake counter. I shall think twice about dining there again when I next stay at the Sheraton.

We so enjoyed our meal at The Belle Epoch when we ate there the night before flying off to Italy. The food was amazing, our table was perfectly situated near the waterfall feature which is so elegant, and the whole experience was relaxing and the staff friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone with an early flight the next day. The leisurely atmosphere makes sitting in a traffic jam on the M25 or M4, trying to get to the airport with a deadine, a distant nightmare.

Excellent welcome, excellent service, amazingly unusual menu, and first class food. What more can I say - it was a genuine attack on my senses. The menu had nothing I would normally eat (which is good) so I was forced to choose something out of the ordinary, and that is what I had. Beautifully conceived, excellently prepared, it tasted 1st class and the presentation was equally surprising. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant for a special occasion - it ain't cheap, but its worth it.

I can easily reccommend Belle Epoch for a special occasion, business clients or those with bottomless pockets but for the average holiday maker the bottom line could spoil your evening. The food is great, atmosphere is New York, service is fab and for a special occasion you'll have a momentous meal. The downside is that you can easily spend £200 for 2.

The atmosphere was nice, contemporary, high-end, we had a nice booth where you can sit side by side and look out over the restaurant. However, after looking at the menu, we ended up leaving without ordering. There was literally nothing on the menu that sounded appealing, even beyond that, that we were even certain what it was. Ever heard of 'black leg chicken'? Sounded like something that happens to a diseased bird..... Eclectic menus are ok and certainly we are world travelers and sophisticated diners, but this menu was so over the top it was trying to be so different that it was unappealing.

A strange restaurant in the Heathrow Sofitel. The food and service are OK, but it's a bit off-putting eating in a room where one wall is lifts going up and down. At these prices I would have expected more sophistocated surroundings. came away slightly disappointed.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. The list of starters is poor. For example, I had to request a soup from the menu at the hotel's other restaurant "Vivre". The main courses all seems to skimp on vegetables, On top of that, when I got home I was annoyed to see that a 12.5% "discretionary" service charge had automatically been added to my bill. Just goes to show you can't trust anybody nowadays, and need to check the small print, before paying.

Located inside The Sofitel @ Heathrow Terminal 5. Met my eldest daughter for a meal in their La Belle Epoque. Fantastic decor , friendly and attentive staff. Probably the best presentation of food that I have ever seen and a very nice touch when they delivered my daugther's dessert with a beautifull enscralled birthday message. That said having had only a main course and 2 desserts plus a glass of wine x 2 and coffee. The bill worked out to over £50.00 each WOW ! plus car parking @£9.00 !

We were a group of seven staying in the Sofitel for a weekend conference and chose to eat here rather than at the company event. The food was delicious, well presented, the staff were very attentive but unobtrusive and we felt that although quite expensive it was good value. We did think that the wine list was fairly pricey however so only had one red and one white, whereas had it been slightly less costly we would have purchased more.
