Diner Reviews
  • "Entirely forgettable experience, not recommended. Unremarkable food, overbearing amateurish service...not worth the money. The waiters seemed confused about us not wanting to drink wine, and kept on asking if we wanted to order it. Annoying and sad."
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Delicious Italian food in a modern but lovely and relaxing environment Lovely staff even if it took a while for them to loosen up a bit! Only disappointment was the signature dish wasn't on the menu (chef's mother's recipe for lasagne). Highly recommended. Quiet on a Sat evening if you need crowds for atmosphere (we don't)."

  • "very nice athompshere, attendive service and great food"

  • "We found the staff very arrogant, this alone wouldn't have ruined our dinner. But when our main course was served the air-conditioning was blasting out extra cold air and made our food instantly cold. We called over a waiter and asked him to turn the AC down, however moments later our food tasted like it came straight from the refrigerator and was not very enjoyable to eat, so much so we couldn't finish our plates of expensive food. When our plates were collected we complained. Then before we knew what was happening a big chocolate pudding was placed in front of us in a grand gesture which felt utterly inappropriate. We didn't want the pudding, we were still hungry for the main course which had been ruined. A very disappointing experience."

  • "The food was great, very fresh and full of flavour, but the portions were too small, and each dish coasts around £18. Be prepared to spend around £55-65 per person + drinks."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "I have dined many times but the last 2 have been disappoining. choice on menu has been reduced and more importantly the lobster pasta taste bad with spring onions that should not bet there and too much anise.shame also that lobster was presented separately and not mixed with the sauce. unlikely I wil return."
    dined on 30/06/2014
  • "Great meal (as before). For people who like their deserts, the rasberry souffle was amazing"

  • "i ve been at l Anima several times, and i was never disappointed. A good menu with something to choose from for everyone. Wine list is excellent."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "Overpriced and lacking in a ambience. Food is good but too expensive. Good cocktails."
    dined on 30/05/2014
  • "Fantastic food, faultless service in a stunning restaurant! From the food, design and attention to detail from the staff the standard was the highest, "
    dined on 31/05/2014
  • "Superb lunch in a restaurant with an excellent feel to it. Bright spacious and airy allows a comfortable meal without feeling crowded in by other diners. "
    dined on 19/05/2014
  • "Was a fan when we went back 4 or 5 years ago. Found the food ok, but rather bland and the recommended wines uninspiring. When you spend £150pp that's not good enough. Had far better meals elsewhere."
    dined on 29/05/2014
  • "I decided to take a few friends to L'anima for my 50th Birthday as it is such a classy restaurant. As usual the whole dining experience (food, wine, service, ambience etc) was excellent. I think we spent the best part of 4 hours there and had a wonderful evening."
    dined on 08/05/2014
  • "I could not afford to eat there every month but the steak I took was probably the best I ever had. The atmosphere is awesome and spacious and relaxing."
    dined on 24/05/2014
  • "Attentive service at a busy restaurant. Food was colourful, distinct flavours. One slight confusion over my bill but soon rectified. Restaurant catered for me as a non-alcohol consumer. Would visit again but not too soon as it is expensive."
    dined on 22/05/2014
  • "Looks very good and attentive staff but the five fish main was bland, unseasoned & wet. A big disappointment and is not encouraging me to take business clients again."
    dined on 13/05/2014
  • "Superbly prepared food. Very nice contemporary design that is a delight to sit in. "
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "probably one of the 3 top Italians in London (Zucca and Cecconis being the others)"
    dined on 30/04/2014
  • "Very swish with excellent service..however the food was good rather than special and easy to run up a very high bill."
    dined on 29/04/2014
  • "The food & service & decoration are all outstanding"
    dined on 29/04/2014
  • "Exciting menu, attentive and very helpful service, excellent Italian food - pasta wonderfully light and enjoyed the 'theatre' with the Chocolate Dome. But don't forget the company credit card! Probably could have flown to Milan for dinner for the same price..."
    dined on 25/04/2014
  • "This was our third visit and it was as good as always"
    dined on 23/04/2014
  • "We opted for the 4 course for £45 offer - the food was good. Service was good even if a bit over zealous at times. "
    dined on 23/04/2014
  • "We had the £45 tasting menu offer and it was delicious. As a bonus, when we arrived Francesco Mazzei (the chef) was there, in the bar! Food was delicious, service really good and a great night for the 2 of us"
    dined on 11/04/2014
  • "Staff at L'Anima were so friendly and attentive. I am vegan and everybody made a real effort to find something to eat for me and in the end I could even choose between a few dishes which never happens! The food was delicious and I would definitely go back there."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "having been on a few previous occasions I was really looking forward to dinner with friends. The food was really disappointing, with the exception of the fried courgettes which always excellent. My mixed seafood starter was okay but nothing better, my friends both had what was listed as a spicy crab starter, the crab was bland and there was certainly a lack of any spice. My veal main course was again very bland and unexciting. Bearing in mind that the bill was over £100 a head I wouldn't hurry back."
    dined on 10/04/2014
  • "We Loved it! Food, service, atmosphere! Everything is perfect!"
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "Very good atmosphere. Food was presented very well, however slightly felt rushed as courses came out quicker than expected. Service was excellent."
    dined on 12/04/2014
  • "We felt like having dinner out and had heard so many of my friends talking about L'Anima so decided to give it a try. The ambience is neutral with glass and white dominating the large room. We sat on a raised level, where the chairs were transparent plastic and the ladies had to put their bags on the floor as no stool or extra chair was offered. The food was standard but seemed to feature the same ingredients everywhere!!! We had the Frittura Mista to share and it had chilli jam sauce, I then had the Baccalà as a starter that once again was fried with chilli jam. Thhe pasta with courgettes and prawns was salty and lacked taste. I would recommend if you're in the area, but not to go especially as we did with such high expectations!"

  • "We visited L'Anima for the second time this week, for my birthday. I remembered the bright and classic restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. We were not disappointed. From the moment you walk in the staff take care of you, they even offered me a cushion for my back which at 6 months pregnant, was very much appreciated! I was sad not to enjoy their delicious cocktails and wine but settled for a mock-tail which was lovely. The Octopus was a rich plentiful dish and the pastachina a unique and delicious starter. Our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable and advised us on the menu - necessary as most is in Italian! It is not a cheap night out but in my view, totally worth it. We will go back!!"

  • "Meal was tasty. Portions for appetiser and entrée were perfect. The main very disappointing in size. This was the taster menu. I guess for £45 it wasn't too bad however walked out feeling hungry. Service was very good. The ambience was good until a big group came in and then it was too noisy. Felt like I was in a student cafeteria. Décor is good. The live music added a touch."

  • "I has wanted to go to L'Anima for some time but living in Cheshire never found the opportunity. We dined from a set tasting menu of four dishes. Each dish was superb , cleverly constucted an in terms of tastes and textures and executed to a very high standard. Personal favourites were the Tortelli (ricotta) and Brown Butter and hazelnuts with Aged Balsamic and the Wild Seas Bass but the Caramelised Pineapple for desert was a triumph! As ever with Italian food the key was simple , excellent ingredients allowing their taste to be the star of the plate. Attentive but unfussy service helped with the enjoyment of the evening. A very pleasant and reasonably priced bottle of Falanghina to accompany the meal worked with the menu very well. Bravo!"

  • "This is not a restaurant that coasts along on the warm feelings that most of us have for good Italian food. Of course the food is excellent, but every other aspect of the Anima experience has been carefully thought through too: the design of the space, the balance of the menu, and the thoughtful pace of the service. The effect of the whole reminds us of why at its best this is known as a service industry: the whole of the experience leaves you feeling that for two hours the world has been revolving around you. We look forward to returning."

  • "Had dinner at L'Anima on Saturday evening. Cool place, excellent food, attentive staff. Tiny portions though, you may need to stop for a sandwich on the way home!"
    dined on 05/04/2014
  • "A nice restaurant for a city business lunch. The food was pleasant and well prepared but not outstanding. It is a restaurant that serves a purpose - a classy business lunch."
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night. Whilst not overly busy the atmosphere was lovely. It was a very nice touch to have a live singer and piano in the bar area also to add to the ambience, and the decoration is perfect. An extensive range of drinks on offer and the food was divine. Nice to go to an italian restaurant which is not just your average run of the mill type. Would highly recommend."

  • "Wonderful, high quality restaurant suitable for both business and personal occasions"
    dined on 28/03/2014
  • "4th or 5th time I have been there and never disappointed. Both I and my guest had excellent meals, that were very well presented, excellent taste combinations and good sized portions. Not cheap, but you really get what you pay for. Service very good. £130 for two excluding wine."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "L'Anima was a very pleasant surprise - great food, great ambience and very friendly and helpful staff. The bergamot soufflé was a hit!"
    dined on 22/03/2014
  • "I booked L'Anima restaurant for a business dinner with clients. I am very impressed with the restaurant, the food and the service. I highly recommend the FRITTO MISTO on the starter menu. The live music (pianist) playing in the bar was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant"
