  • "A gem of a restaurant that is impressive without being overwhelming. It is comfortable and elegant. The Set menu at £30, which also delivers some amuses bouches is a real treat - just watch out for the accumulating cost of the wine (the list is excellent but the price really adds up!)"

  • "This is my third time here after Tim Allen taken the helm here. Food are beautifully presented and standards are very high. We all think that these could easily be a 2* meal here. The ambience of the restaurant is the sort that I like, very comfortable, quiet and laid-back. Highly recommended!"

  • "We had a great meal at Launceston Place, staff very attentive and made us at home, great cocktails and a very good 3-course lunch menu. Salt marsh lamb and the duck egg starter particularly good. Staff also made a fuss of us as it was our wedding anniversary (we hadn't even made a specific request). Very good value menu - we spent more on drinks than food! Will come again."

  • "The quality of the food is outstanding. The tasting menu is a real treat and the wine pairing complements the food really well. Will live in the memory for a long time. The service is first class, especially the descriptions of the food and wines. What a lovely quiet location but well located. Layout of the restaurant is excellent"

  • "Though the set lunch was excellent value given the standard of the cooking."

  • "Launceston Place is situated in a quiet leafy street and very understated. The food was excellent. We chose from the 3 course Market Menu which had an ample choice, much better than other restaurants who offer similar deals. The service was good although perhaps a bit too invasive for my liking. However i would return next time i am in London."

  • "Such attention to detail. Such a relaxed unrushed meal. One of the best dinning experiences."

  • "I had quail and then veal. The dishes were excellent and imaginative. Service was attentive but relaxed and informal."

  • " Creative , sophisticated and very tasty dishes , large cellar (not cheap though) , and great service, efficient and stylish but not over present not obsequious"

  • "This really was the best meal my husband and I have ever had. Went on Saturday evening, so had the tasting menu. The food was outstanding, and surprisingly, there was plenty of it. The service was what you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant, but without making you feel uncomfortable. The tasting menu was excellent value at £70, but a few more affordable wine choices would have been appreciated. This has restored our faith in Michelin starred restaurants, and we will definitely be booking again."

  • "I wish I could go more often.First I don't live in London but even though it is good value for money,my finances don't stretch to a weekly visit.I can dream though. As usual it was excellent. We arrived 30 minutes late(traffic) and panting. The staff made us welcome immediately and as soon as the amuse-bouche(of high standard) arrived we forgot about any inconvenience. We'll be back."

  • "I was told to not miss this great Michelin grade lunch deal during my brief stay in London. The recommender-friend had lunch 3x here before & is waiting for the chance for her 4th. I'm happy to write here that the overall experience I had at Launceston Place was decent; albeit with nothing to write home about. Food was acceptable, ambiance was alright, service was okay. No complaints, not wowed either. How did Launceston got it's star remains a mystery to me... Would I go back for more? Probably not.. My verdict? Go if you hv ran out of Michelin star lit restaurant you would like to try. Or if you are just looking for a quiet place for lunch with a friend that serves decent food."

  • "Had a lovely lunch here! As a single out-of-town business traveler, after working all week I treated myself to lunch. It was fabulous - really great service, the restaurant was beautiful, the house champagne divine, and the food was wonderful. A real treat for this foodie!"

  • "Restaurant was lovely and quite, and not too full on a Tuesday evening so almost felt like you having the restaurant to yourself as the other guests chose to sit at the back while we seated by the window. Food was delicious, in particular the asparagus with hen egg, and quail dish were both well done."

  • "Faultless food. Good service. And one of the best gin and tonics ever."

  • "I took my father for lunch here on a Saturday using the OpenTable offer (£30 per person). We first sat down in a slightly more crowded area, which we didn't mind at all. Having noticed that my father was struggling a bit to cope with the space, a member of staff kindly guided us to the other side which was more spacious. Much appreciated. The canapés and pre-starter appetizer were provided as complimentary courses and they were lovely. The set menu was delicious and very good value, considering the outstanding standard. Ambience was nice and service was spotless. As my father doesn't drink I didn't get to appreciate the wine selection but would like to try out next time."

  • "My son and I had dinner at the Launceston Place and what a wonderful experience it was. The staff were exceptional. The Sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The food, Oh the food...what is there to say except that it was perfect. My son said it was the best dinner he had ever had. Thank you Launceston Place for making our evening so memorable."

  • "This is the second time I have gone to Launceston Place and it really does not disappoint. We had the tasting menu and every course was excellent."

  • "We spent a delightful evening at Launceston Place. With impeccable service that always felt gracious rather than stuffy, we enjoyed every aspect of the six-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Flavors were bright and well-balanced throughout the meal, with portions appropriate for a tasting menu. It's difficult to choose a favorite course; we particularly enjoyed the fresh flavors of the asparagus, the surprising combination of scallop, confit chicken, and truffle mousse, and a beautifully prepared beef. Although the wine pairing is a bit extravagant, the wines were wonderfully matched and the sommelier provided just the right introduction to each pour from his cellar. We'll be making this a regular stop on our returns to London."

  • "Friday night offers Tasting Menu only so make sure you know that in advance in case that doesn't appeal.....but our party of 5 all thought it was excellent in composition, taste and presentation. Outstanding service. Will certainly revisit."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Launceston Place. We did not know the restaurant before but we found recommendations on the internet. And we were very very happy with our choice! It was absolutely wonderful (delicious meal, pleasant service, nice ambiance). When we are in London next time, we know where to go for dinner."

  • "Definitely one of the best michelin meals I've had this year (this was #24) and their knowledge of the dishes was very impressive "

  • "A very enjoyable return to an old favourite of our's. Following the redecoration, LP has a modern feel but is still quiet and discreet. Michelin starred food, courteous and engaging service, with no stuffiness but the right touch, make a compelling package."

  • "We came here a year ago on a special offer and were extremely impressed. So I had been keen to return. It's a very nice place: smart but slightly relaxed about it. Very good food and great wine list. Minor comment:The Wagyu beef was somehow not quite there and not as rare as I would like - but maybe it s like that. Better stick to local beef rather then flying it around the world. That aside the food really is very good. This time we paid full price. We very much enjoyed the visit but would I say this visit was twice as good as the offer??......Hmmmmmm"

  • "The staff was friendly, wine was great and food very good. My scallop was slightly over cooked but generally a great meal. "

  • "A special treat for my London visit, Launceston Place was ideal. The food was flawlessly prepared and presented, the service was attentive and friendly, the ambiance warm and inviting. I would unhesitatingly recommend the experience to any visitor or Londoner eager for a lovely meal in a perfect setting. I can't wait to return. "

  • "A high quality dining experience. Beautifully presented food with delicately balanced flavours, a variety of textures, and all absolutely delicious. Service friendly, attentive and professional and a small and intimate space. Recommended. "

  • "This is the best British restaurant I've been to, ever! The slow cooked Duck egg (starter) and Chicken Breast with mushroom puree (main) were cooked really well! They were part of a 3 course lunch menu which was £30. I'd strongly recommend this place. The only disappointment was the strong smell of Blue cheese as we were led to our table (the table next to us must have order cheese for their third course rather than dessert). Apart from that, everything else was really good. "
    dined on 10/05/2014
  • "Took my son, friend and family on his graduation. Service was top notch. We had the set menu plus wine and coffee. It was £50 head all in for an excellent lunch. It included canapés, amuse bouche, and petit fours with the coffee. I would say the food was pushing two michelin stars so at the price was very good value for money. If Open table awarded half stars Launceston Place would have got the extra half for the food. Recommended."

  • "Visited for a special occasion but on a tight schedule. The staff were very accommodating, taking us to our seats a little before the reservation was for, and also allowed us to speed things up but without rushing. As we went at the start of a weekday lunch, we can't really comment on the ambience, but the décor is reserved and the staff were very welcoming and unobtrusive. The food was absolutely excellent, as you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Even on a restricted set lunch menu, there were plenty of options to cater for a vegetarian. Their three-course set lunch menu (including an additional appetizer/aperitif and an amuse-bouche) for £30 is excellent value and worth every penny. Cannot recommend this restaurant more."

  • "Market Menu good value-canapés, pre-starter, palate cleanser, petit fours included. Labour intensive cooking with humbler ingredients in some dishes so delicious that they outshone star element-incredibly deep cucumber flavours in mackerel starter, fabulous black pudding & belly elements in Iberico pork main dish & especially the tete de veau part of veal main dish were all incredibly good, as were the picture perfect soufflé dessert & the ambrosial cauliflower & chickpea pre-starter. Value can be found in the wine list if you look carefully. We had a Picpoul, a wonderful velvety Givry 1er Cru & a delicious Banyols pudding wine, all at lesser mark-ups than found elsewhere. Staff outstanding throughout.comfortable noise level, lovely evening"
