A word from Le Pont de la Tour
By day, you can enjoy our traditional French cooking with a modern accent in the calm of our marine-inspired interior. And by night, the true opulence and elegance of the main dining room awakens against the backdrop of floodlit Tower Bridge.

Executive Head Chef, Tom Cook, has gone back to our traditional roots by recreating favourite classics from the restaurant’s opening menu – including Fruits de Mer, Lobster Pot au Feu and his version of the Crab & Saffron Tart – a salad of white crab meat with saffron mayonnaise and a light crab beignet. For a touch of dining theatre try our Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, which is carved at your table, or enjoy the show of flambé Crêpes Suzette.

I went to Pont de la tour Yesterday evening and the food was excellent. We had the John Dorey main course with Girolle and squid which was cooked to perfection. The smoke salmon starter with the deconstructed egg accompaniment was very good, but best of all was the pan fried Foie Gras which was really really good. The wine waiter was not put off by our Italian colleagues having prosecco with Chateau Briant and every other course,he was able to converse in English Italian and French. The staff where more than helpful and understanding. Would highly recommend for a decent meal in a great location.

unbelievably we were only diners for lunch in this well know establishment.Very surreal atmosphere. We had good value set lunch but food was decidedly average on the whole with the main course pheasant being on the tough side. view over river was very good though !

2 main dishes out of the 4 we had at the table were very ordinary. The wine was one of the worst I have had in a nice restaurant (it turned out that it was produced using "traditional" methods that don't bring out much flavour). I think we should have been warned before paying 50 pounds for a bottle that tasted like extremely cheap wine. Nice pleasant staff but this cannot offset the not great experience and poor value for money.

La Pont De La Tour is a lovely restaurant with an amazing position overlooking Tower Bridge. There are endless reviews about their unsatisfactory service. How long will they go on ignoring the problems. It was very busy when we went, it was Saturday, so to be expected. We were given menus quite quickly, then nothing. After about 25 minutes our order was taken. No bread was offered in the meantime. When we were offered bread it was chemical bread when I was expecting home made bread. I think that it may have been baked on the premises from frozen but was not home made. I think that this is unacceptable for a restaurant of this price range. We decided on the tasting menu which was quite nice but not great, we expected better. The chocolate desert however was fabulous. There appeared to be plenty of staff but they did not appear to be trained and managed well. The food is trying to be more than it is. It is good at best and should be much better. W have been 3 times now when we visit London but I doubt that we would go again.

Excellent tasting menu with wine pairings - fantastic crab followed by foie gras, then venison for main and a light chocolate mousse for dessert. Fantastic pairings of the foie gras with madeira, and the port alongside the chocolate mousse. Very rich menu - particularly the venison in a heavy jus, which could perhaps benefit from additional vegetables, but on the whole a fantastic meal with top service, in an unbeatable setting looking out over Tower Bridge. Would have liked to try some of the numerous fish and game options on the menu, so will certainly return!

We had lunch here to celebrate my husband's birthday and really made his day complete. The staff were very attentive, friendly and efficient. When I booked I pointed out I could not eat chilli, this fact was remembered and the menu discussed with me which I appreciated very much. Not many restaurants do this. The food was outstanding as was the service. We enjoyed our visit from start to finish.

We went to the restaurant for dinner after looking at the poppies in the moat at the Tower in the rain. We were very impressed by the warm welcome from the staff who helped us out of our wet jackets and made us comfortable. The attentive service throughout the meal was outstanding, We chose the Menu de Jour and enjoyed the food. We would definitely go again.

Sunday lunch at Le Pont de la Tour is excellent value. Food was exceptional and fixed price and the service impeccable. The setting by the tower is always good for the soul. The 84 page wine list is a bit of a challenge but fun. Good value wines can be found but best to read it on the web site before going to save time ordering. I also bought some of the wine we drank in their superb wine shop next door.

We live a 25 minute walk from Butlers Wharf, and often visit the plethora of fine dining establishments there. The Friday evening that we dined at Le Pont was an effort to cheer up my wife who had been suffering from a cough and cold all week. Le Pont is undoubtedly the best of a fine bunch of restaurants along Shad Thames and my wife enjoyed her evening immensely. It was an unusually warm, so we opted for a table by the Thames. Her sea trout main looked good, and she said that it tasted even better, I think that she was more pleased that she COULD taste it, after a week of hardly tasting anything, my piquillo pepper with cous-cous was excellent too, the norm for Le Pont. All in all, another fine dining experience at at a D&D restaurant.

When deciding what to have for lunch, I wanted the cod and my boyfriend could not find cod on the menu, his menu said trout so we had to call the waiter over to determine what it was, it was cod. I was phoned twice about confirmation and when we arrived, there was a table immediately for us in a good location by an open window. I requested to sit outside which wasn't available immediately but then became available about 10 minutes later. At this point, we were comfortable where we were and declined the offer. We were not particularly hungry as had a late breakfast so a relatively light lunch was sufficient. My boyfriend had the sorbet for dessert which was very nice.

Not a great choice on the menu for starters and desserts although mains choice was better. Most of us enjoyed the roast sirloin but there was a distinct lack of green vegetables. Portion size of potatoes in particular was poor. This looks mean and is quite unnecessary. Despite booking some months before the table allocated was near both the door outside and the door to the kitchen, which caused a considerable draught - cold dining guests do not make for a happy dining experience.. The pianist is far too loud. Last visit we had an outside table which was far more enjoyable. All in all less good than in the past.

If you are taking out a friend on their first visit to London, there isn't a better location. Sitting outside looking at Tower Bridge is a pretty good intro to the city. The food is excellent, although a little pretentious. I've been here a few times, and always enjoy it. My only complaint is that there is a bit of waiter hovering. I understand that they want to provide a good service, but I did feel like there was always someone over my shoulder, and I don't need my water glass filling every time I take a sip. Relax a little, PDLT. Dont take yourself so seriously.

Taking a friend out for a birthday celebration left me glad I chose Le Pont de la Tour, rather than another riverside restaurant further upstream that I won't mention here that I was going to book. The tasting menu was good value and delicious, while the service turned a special occasion into something exceptional. The sommelier was particularly impressive in his attention to detail, good humour and open-mindedness about wines from around the world and not just his native country! All in all, definitely a place I'd revisit time and time again.

The kitchen seemed to have had some issues on a busy saturday night (which should be expected no?). All dished were extremelly late and the main course was very much below the standard of the house.. The waiters were all very apologetic.. but nothing they could do.. shame.. At least they realised the mess and didn't charge for the main course..

Le Pont de La Tour really needs to decide whether it wants to be a tourist trap or a fine dining establishment. Food and Service good. Wine List overpriced. Ambience mediocre. Looking tired and unloved - particulary Loo's. This is not a cheap restaurant, and facilities are far from immaculate. Pont de La Tour has definitely seen better days.
