A word from Le Pont de la Tour
By day, you can enjoy our traditional French cooking with a modern accent in the calm of our marine-inspired interior. And by night, the true opulence and elegance of the main dining room awakens against the backdrop of floodlit Tower Bridge.

Executive Head Chef, Tom Cook, has gone back to our traditional roots by recreating favourite classics from the restaurant’s opening menu – including Fruits de Mer, Lobster Pot au Feu and his version of the Crab & Saffron Tart – a salad of white crab meat with saffron mayonnaise and a light crab beignet. For a touch of dining theatre try our Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, which is carved at your table, or enjoy the show of flambé Crêpes Suzette.Continued

  • "some struggle to get sitted outside but at the end it was woth waiting"
    dined on 26/07/2014
  • "I took a mate for his birthday last Saturday. We sat outside, and had a terrific view of Tower Bridge, the Tower behind, and then the City (with the Gherkin) behind that. Iconic London! We had the 5 course tasting menu, paired with wine. The lamb was excellent, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. Great to have a real French restaurant with real French staff. A bit pricey, but it was a special occasion, and I would definitely go back."

  • "We got a lovely table on the terrace. It was a beautiful, golden evening and so sitting outside was just perfect. The service was impeccable and very fast (despite what other reviews here say) and the food arrived promptly. The prix fixe menu is good value. Although the portions were ever so slightly meagre, the cooking was spot on. Recommended."

  • "It helped it was a glorious day so being able to eat on the terrace was a delight, but the whole experience of Pont de la tour could not have been better.Personable but not intrusive staff, WAY beyond delicious food, from classic complicated to classic simple, each with some individual twist. Goodness knows why we haven't been there before.....we do not intend to be strangers, this place well deserves it reputation."

  • "Lovely food and service. You do feel like royalty when selecting the wine. They brought us a complimentary chocolate mousse at the end for our anniversary but we have already eaten two deserts. We had to finish it all but it was worth it."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Professional friendly service. Beautiful view. The food was very well presented, tasted great with some charming extras."

  • "Sun was shining, great views of Tower Bridge. Nice experience all around."

  • "We had a lovely evening at Le Pont de la Tour, greatly enhanced by being offered a table on the terrace on a beautiful evening. We enjoyed the tasting menu which comprised an 'amuse' of clams, a crab tian (very good) lamb (beautifully tender) and a delicious dessert. The accompanying wines were well chosen, particularly the red Stellenbosch although I though the Sauvignon blanc was a little ordinary. The whole was reasonable value although my view is that a tasting menu should contain more, smaller courses. Service was very attentive with an oversupply of bread to compensate for some delays in the kitchen, and we felt that the sommelier had learned his lines well rather than being especially knowledgeable. Very good evening overall"

  • "Came for Sunday dinner to celebrate mother's 80th birthday. Service was fast and efficient and the food was exquisite. Wonderful setting with lovely views across Thames and Tower Bridge. A perfect dining experience for our special celebration."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "The food and service was the restaurants usual high quality the view from the venue cannot be bettered"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "We had lunch on the terrace on a rainy day. The initial service was poor. We were kept waiting 45 minutes before anyone came to our table and only then when we complained. After that the service was attentive and friendly. The food was generally good but I was persuaded to have the special of the day, grilled salmon, which was horrible, being akin to a jelly inside and was very expensive. We expected the meal to be pricey and so it turned out to be. With outstanding food and service I would have been prepared to pay without hesitation but poor service and some horrible food made it poor value for money."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "The two course prix fixe is a great deal, if only the wine list was more sensibly priced."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Great night to eat in view of tower bridge was spectacular. We had the tasting menu with wine flight - sommelier was fabulous"
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "One of the best settings in London and the service was incredible."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "My booking confirmation from Open Table stated that I had to give my bank details to Le Pont de la Tour as I was booking for 8 people so I phoned and gave the details. Not sure if our table would have been secured without this. We had the 2 course set menu which was tasty and good value. The service was very good-a bit slow but this is better than being rushed. The restaurant is smart with a good atmosphere; nice to have live music in the background. The location is fantastic-right next toTower Bridge so the view from the terrace is stunning especially when the bridge is lit up later on. You probably have to get there early to get an outside table and the max size of table outside is for 6 people. Generally, an attractive, interesting area."

  • "the pisco sour was not good at all, nothing to do with such a famous and simple South-american cocktail. the tasting menu food quality was all right but the portions definitely far too small. all in all, the restaurant spot is very nice (on the Thames shore, close to TowerBridge), the service is fine but the food (and quantity) not worth the money we paid."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "My friend Jennifer and I went out for a birthday meal, and the food was really really good, however the service was impersonal. The service was over attentive, which made it difficult to have a conversation and it felt as though the waiters were reading from a script and struggled to adapt to the fact that we were two women eating together and we were called sir and gentlemen a number of times. At the end of the meal we got presented with the wrong bill, and it was a little embarrasing having to point that out to the waiter as I was paying the bill as it was a birthday treat for my friend."
    dined on 02/07/2014
  • "A little breezy but excellent food, good wine list, good service, nice view of the bridge."

  • "Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch on the terrace looking over the Thames and at tower bridge. Great meal ,good value . A thoroughly enjoyable end to our weekend in london . Would recommend"
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Food was well presented, but the 'tender' roast pork was tough. The location is hard to beat - outside with tower bridge so close by . . . The set menu was OK value and had a good selection. The wine was over-priced but good quality."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "We were very happy with the food but the service was quite slow, possibly because they were busy? We would however have doubts returning as the music was so loud that the bistro area was a shouting match to be heard and the main restaurant area as you enter was also unpleasanty noisy even though the pianist/singer was good! Other diners were heard to complain. This was our 4th visit and it has never been so noisy as so we will hesitate to return."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "Second visit in as many months with clients, consistently good food, great atmosphere outside and pretty good value on the set menu leaving more to spend on wine! Service though remains hit and miss and staff need to be more attentive / organised - not quite up to the standard required. On both visits had to chase up service to take orders / deliver drinks etc on more than one occasion. However would not stop me going again."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "This was our second visit to this lovely restaurant and we'll go again We booked for the 5 course tasting menu but once we arrived changed our minds and went a-la-carte instead as a few of us really fancied the Chateaubriand which at £34 per head probably contributed to my review title! The service, once they'd taken our order, was very good but as the evening wore on dropped off a bit which was a pity but, to be honest, we weren't in a hurry as it was a birthday celebration for my wife. As far as the food was concerned both the chateaubriand and the lobster ravioli was some of the best I have tasted and the chocolate valhrona mousse was to die for. To conclude.. Do go enjoy the ambiance and views of the river but try to ignore the price."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "Something like 18 years ago a friend took his parents here on achieving a significant milestone in his career. He raved about it for months after. Took my wife for her birthday lunch and really enjoyed ourselves...we would have scored it 10/10 but for slightly gristly chateaubriand and not enough sauce. Still a 9 though. Lovely touch of a birthday treat for her as per my instructions at time of booking. Fantastic."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "I have been there three times now and enjoy the location so much. The service is excellent as is the food and wine. What more would I want? Unfortunately I now need to move away to work - but I'll be back!!"
    dined on 16/06/2014
  • "Girls lunch, had the set menu, very good value. Table outside. Food and service excellent, at no time did we feel rushed, and as it was the first time we'd met in ages, we lingered and ended up ordering some supper we were there for so long. Staff were very accommodating, charging our phones, lighting the heater, and blankets for when it got chilly outside. Amazing views too of London architecture from where we sat. Smoked duck starter very tasty, albeit very thin slices, and salmon gravalax just as tasty (but again quite small portions). We all had the Sea Bream which was delicious, with sides of pommes puree and french fries - beautifully creamy and seasoned to perfection. Lastly we finished with a selection of cheeses - perfect"

  • "Amazing outlook from fantastic outdoor dining venue; good vibe and very good food with a fabulous wine list. However, the service left much to desire. It is flamboyant and colourful, but painfully slow with lots of "I will speak to the chef and attend to that immediately" - which never happened. It took 40 minutes to get the drinks we ordered on arrival; nearly 2 hours before the mains arrived; the total "experience" being 3 1/2 hours, and it was not overly busy! The food was very good, the setting offers amazing opportunity but the service needs to vastly improve to deliver the package one expects at the price.."

  • "The evening started badly. Despite a request on booking and at confirmation our terrace table had been " given away by mistake". The lady asked us to wait at the bar a few minutes where we were abandoned for an hour before someone else stated "did no one tell you the terrace is never reserved it's available on a first come first served basis". After a short more focused conversation and another 20 minute wait a table on the terrace (which we could see had been empty but clear reserved for someone else) was offered. The lamb was over cooked, flavours average, prices high, service poor. Go next door to the pub. It's cheaper and better in all respects."

  • "excellent venue for sunny evening dinner. good value £20 2 course menu"

  • "Took my partner here for his birthday dinner. We love our food and we enjoyed it. We had the best table outside with views of tower bridge and got lucky with the weather. Worth it for special occasions but it is rather pricy."
    dined on 11/06/2014
  • "On this occasion, a group of five of us tried the tasting menu. Each course was special, the service excellent, and the wine pairings well considered. A great night was had by all! Not to be missed."
    dined on 09/06/2014
  • "The ambience, the food, the staff, the service - every aspect was outstanding. With a great view of Tower Bridge from the terrace as well, it really is a special place to eat. To experience proper service in a restaurant again was so refreshing. You didn't feel rushed at all and your glass was always unobtrusively topped up, fantastic! We would definitely return to try more dishes, but from experience I can highly recommend the Norfolk Guinea Fowl, it was sublime. I'd suggest booking well in advance if you wish to get a seat on the terrace, but whether you sit outside or in you won't be disappointed. I thought the meal and wine were very reasonably priced considering the high standards of food and service they provided."

  • "Fantastic dining experience at one of London's top restaurants. The ambience is always so buzzy and the views amazing. When you join these features together with exquisite food (the Severn and Wye Salmon is wonderfully presented and tastes delicious and the Pan Fried Fillet of Stone Bass is amazing) and the excellent service and extensive Wine List it really is hard to find a better place to dine. "

  • "Le Pont de la Tour is in a prime location overlooking London Bridge so on a sunny evening the view was amazing. The other massive positive was the service. Very quick, polite and friendly throughout. Then when we had a problem with our food they were more than accommodating and did not make it difficult or awkward. Now the negatives. The food was average at best. The starters were ok. Not bad but not amazing. The main course we had to send back as it was so poor and whilst we were offered an alternative which was better, it wasn't brilliant. The other big negative was the value for money. The food was quite expensive and as mentioned the quality was not great. Overall disappointing experience. "

  • "Set menu good value for money. Service not great but would return. "

  • "Perfect location for warm June evening dinner. Various menus provide good choice with lots of fish options. We had the crab tian with cucumber jelly and fresh asparagus for the 2 entrées. Then crispy skinned bream and cod with red-wine risotto options for main courses - both perfectly cooked and accompanied by well-balanced sides. Wines by the glass offered by sommelier were good choices. Too full for dessert, although very tempted by the banana soufflés that wafted past us, we opted for tea and coffee with homemade petit fours of macaroons and fruit jellies. All in all, a really pleasant evening and live music in the background was a nice touch."

  • "I'd booked the restaurant some weeks before we ate there, I noted in my email things I'd forgotten I'd said, upon arrival we were politely greeted and escorted to the table outside with amazing views of Tower Bridge. The waitress had remembered that I'd said we'd recently moved to the area and that it was my partners birthday, a great start! The food was incredible, the service impeccable and the overall experience just perfect. Myself and my partner both said we'd go back again for sure."

  • "Great food and service - thoroughly recommend for a romantic treat, especially eating out by the river. Well worth every penny. "

  • "A lunch outing, sat inside by the window with a view of the Tower. A setting difficult to beat. Chose the set menu, slices of duck breast with a well dressed salad. For main we both had the fish. A well presented plate of food. All in all good value for money. Not a lot of food so not one to go to if you are 'hungry'. Couldn't fault the service. The best bit for me was the fine wine by the glass. My 175ml of Burgundy cost more than my set lunch, but it was wonderful !!"
