A word from Le Pont de la Tour
By day, you can enjoy our traditional French cooking with a modern accent in the calm of our marine-inspired interior. And by night, the true opulence and elegance of the main dining room awakens against the backdrop of floodlit Tower Bridge.

Executive Head Chef, Tom Cook, has gone back to our traditional roots by recreating favourite classics from the restaurant’s opening menu – including Fruits de Mer, Lobster Pot au Feu and his version of the Crab & Saffron Tart – a salad of white crab meat with saffron mayonnaise and a light crab beignet. For a touch of dining theatre try our Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, which is carved at your table, or enjoy the show of flambé Crêpes Suzette.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Had an amazing dinner here! We chose the 5-course tasting menu and literally every course was fantastic. The staff was very correct yet friendly, make you feel comfortable, which is a big plus point as you don't expect that at a fine dining restaurant. We had dinner quite late in the evening, so we had a fantastic view over the Tower Bridge by night. We sat outside at the terrace, the boulevard wasn't too crowdy so it was perfect for a romantic dinner and stroll afterwards, as well as for family/group dinners! The prices are a bit higher, about £60-70 pp (depending on choice of menu) but very well worth a try!"

  • "The food and service were faultless for our Saturday lunch by Tower Bridge. In terms of value by the time you have added vegetables / potatoes as an extra, a bottle of their cheaper wine (£26) and the dreaded 12.5% service you are looking at £60 per head, so an expensive lunch. Add a further £21 for 3 Gin & Tonics and this place starts to become expensive and you have start questioning value. All that said if the weather is good then dine outside on the terrace for superb views of the bridge and beyond, the prices then start to become more tolerable."

  • "I have n't been to the Pont De La Tour for a number of years. It was easy to book a table online & they had taken notice of my special request (i.e. my birthday). We were seated outside with the usual beautiful view of Tower Bridge with the Thames as a backdrop. We decided to opt for the 3 course set menu for lunch (£30 a head). The staff were very attentive & the service was absolutely first class. I opted for the Salmon starter, followed by Pork Medallions & my wife had Duck Salad followed by Poached Salmon. Our food was delivered promptly & was very tasty. The wine list is extensive, if not a little pricey but you can obviously choose a wine to your budget & taste. Overall we really enjoyed our lunch & the service was excellent."

  • "A little disappointing this year; Borsch soup was tasteless and pork rather tough. Although plenty of waiters/waitresses they did not seem to have their eyes on the tables."

  • "Excellent food, great service, and a very relaxed three-hour lunch on the riverbank. The desserts with selected dessert wines for each were particularly impressive."

  • "If you allow a reservation at 3.30pm on a Sunday then you can not expect on order to be placed for food within 5 minutes, as the kitchens are closing! None of the wines we requested were available and we were advised on a particular wine which ended up being £23 per glass. The waiter surely should of notified us of this fact when the wines by glass we were ordering previously were £9.00. I left the restaurant still feeling hungry which speaks for itself really."

  • "This was our 3rd visit to Pont de la Tour with a group visit for 8 people. The views from the terrace are outstanding. The food was good although some of the roast beef was a bit fatty. The service was excellent with friendly staff not wanting to push you out as soon as you fininshed eating. Good range of wines and beers at prices which were good for the situation overlooking Tower Bridge."

  • "Wonderful £25 special offer for 2 courses. Table on the terrace overlooking the river, top notch food. Couldn't be better. Thoroughly recommend this place."

  • "The service was very slow. We sat down at 8.30 once drinks were served by the same waiter who took the meAl orders. We didn't get to order till after 9pm and mains were served at 10.20 two of our pArty had to woof their meals and rush to catch their trAin. Very disappointing"

  • "Very good value lunch menu - extensive wine list with decent house wines by the glass."

  • "Nice to re-establish contact with an old favourite overlooked for some time and lovely to sit outside without being in the direct sun. Good fish well cooked. A treat to have a choice of good wines by the glass."

  • "4 of us went on the D&D / Evening Standard offer (30 quid for 3 courses and a glass of fizz). My food was delicious but my 3 companions were disappointed with both their starters (a very bland salmon ceviche) and mains (pork fillet). But still great value for 30 quid."

  • "Went to celebrate my birthday. Given lovely seat on the terrace and the food was good. Whole evening spoiled by them charging us £!8 for a glass of white wine containing less than an inch of wine!!! The price on the menu for this glass of wine was £11.50 and whilst I thought that was extravagant it was a special night. When the bill came we challenged it, with our query being passed around from server to server for about 20 minutes. Ultimately we paid up and left as it was already 11.00pm. I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and it has always been wonderful, not any more though!!"

  • "If you enjoy views, good food, excellent service this is the place !! cannot fault it but remember all this good stuff cost money which is well worth it."

  • "Went for summer dinner and enjoyed eating on the Terrace. Vegetarian option was tiny and the set menu was expensive for what we ate. The meat eaters did enjoy their main course. Also, it is outrageous to charge an extra £8 (on top of £5 for desert) if one wants the cheeseboard."

  • "Perfect. Great food, service was unobtrusively attentive, delightful location. Top marks all round."
    dined on 29/07/2014
  • "The food was wonderful except the hair in my roll, which was very unpleasant and I got a sorry but that was it. The service was poor, too many Chiefs not enough Indians, lots of staff but were more interested in the high paying diners or corporate parties. I booked the deal 2 courses for £22,50 and apparently it went up to £25 so I had to pay that despite the fact that I booked at the lower price! I bought my own birthday cake with me, and waited over half an hour to get it to my table which to put a cake on a plate and bring out was extreme, and I had to ask for it twice!"

  • "I booked for a special offer on Saturday night, after receiving an email offer direct from D&D. The waiter stated that the offer did not start until the next Monday. He did produce the 'menu du jour, but only after I specially asked for it. .I spoke to the Sommelier. He offered us complimentary glasses of Chandon, these being part of the special menu The manager later approached us to apologise for the slow service. I mentioned the email offer and he said he was unaware of it, so I showed it to him on my mobile. It was still available for reservations for the next day. He said he would check it out as he had phone calls about it. The food was excellent, especially my wife's salmon creviche. But not good honouring of the offer."

  • "I took a mate for his birthday last Saturday. We sat outside, and had a terrific view of Tower Bridge, the Tower behind, and then the City (with the Gherkin) behind that. Iconic London! We had the 5 course tasting menu, paired with wine. The lamb was excellent, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. Great to have a real French restaurant with real French staff. A bit pricey, but it was a special occasion, and I would definitely go back."

  • "We got a lovely table on the terrace. It was a beautiful, golden evening and so sitting outside was just perfect. The service was impeccable and very fast (despite what other reviews here say) and the food arrived promptly. The prix fixe menu is good value. Although the portions were ever so slightly meagre, the cooking was spot on. Recommended."

  • "It helped it was a glorious day so being able to eat on the terrace was a delight, but the whole experience of Pont de la tour could not have been better.Personable but not intrusive staff, WAY beyond delicious food, from classic complicated to classic simple, each with some individual twist. Goodness knows why we haven't been there before.....we do not intend to be strangers, this place well deserves it reputation."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "You are so close, but you are from the other side than you usually experience the Tower Bridge. Great ambient for outside lunch / dinner, fantastic lobster with chilled champagne. The service seems to be a bit lost, especially outside, which is not a plus for a place like this."
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "Lovely food and service. You do feel like royalty when selecting the wine. They brought us a complimentary chocolate mousse at the end for our anniversary but we have already eaten two deserts. We had to finish it all but it was worth it."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "As soon as they realised we were ordering off the cheaper menu du jour they were not interested in us and we were largely ignored. Food was poor. Will not be going back."

  • "We had a lovely evening at Le Pont de la Tour, greatly enhanced by being offered a table on the terrace on a beautiful evening. We enjoyed the tasting menu which comprised an 'amuse' of clams, a crab tian (very good) lamb (beautifully tender) and a delicious dessert. The accompanying wines were well chosen, particularly the red Stellenbosch although I though the Sauvignon blanc was a little ordinary. The whole was reasonable value although my view is that a tasting menu should contain more, smaller courses. Service was very attentive with an oversupply of bread to compensate for some delays in the kitchen, and we felt that the sommelier had learned his lines well rather than being especially knowledgeable. Very good evening overall"

  • "Came for Sunday dinner to celebrate mother's 80th birthday. Service was fast and efficient and the food was exquisite. Wonderful setting with lovely views across Thames and Tower Bridge. A perfect dining experience for our special celebration."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "The food and service was the restaurants usual high quality the view from the venue cannot be bettered"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "We had lunch on the terrace on a rainy day. The initial service was poor. We were kept waiting 45 minutes before anyone came to our table and only then when we complained. After that the service was attentive and friendly. The food was generally good but I was persuaded to have the special of the day, grilled salmon, which was horrible, being akin to a jelly inside and was very expensive. We expected the meal to be pricey and so it turned out to be. With outstanding food and service I would have been prepared to pay without hesitation but poor service and some horrible food made it poor value for money."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "The two course prix fixe is a great deal, if only the wine list was more sensibly priced."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Great night to eat in view of tower bridge was spectacular. We had the tasting menu with wine flight - sommelier was fabulous"
