A word from Le Pont de la Tour
By day, you can enjoy our traditional French cooking with a modern accent in the calm of our marine-inspired interior. And by night, the true opulence and elegance of the main dining room awakens against the backdrop of floodlit Tower Bridge.

Executive Head Chef, Tom Cook, has gone back to our traditional roots by recreating favourite classics from the restaurant’s opening menu – including Fruits de Mer, Lobster Pot au Feu and his version of the Crab & Saffron Tart – a salad of white crab meat with saffron mayonnaise and a light crab beignet. For a touch of dining theatre try our Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon, which is carved at your table, or enjoy the show of flambé Crêpes Suzette.

Not a great choice on the menu for starters and desserts although mains choice was better. Most of us enjoyed the roast sirloin but there was a distinct lack of green vegetables. Portion size of potatoes in particular was poor. This looks mean and is quite unnecessary. Despite booking some months before the table allocated was near both the door outside and the door to the kitchen, which caused a considerable draught - cold dining guests do not make for a happy dining experience.. The pianist is far too loud. Last visit we had an outside table which was far more enjoyable. All in all less good than in the past.

If you are taking out a friend on their first visit to London, there isn't a better location. Sitting outside looking at Tower Bridge is a pretty good intro to the city. The food is excellent, although a little pretentious. I've been here a few times, and always enjoy it. My only complaint is that there is a bit of waiter hovering. I understand that they want to provide a good service, but I did feel like there was always someone over my shoulder, and I don't need my water glass filling every time I take a sip. Relax a little, PDLT. Dont take yourself so seriously.

Taking a friend out for a birthday celebration left me glad I chose Le Pont de la Tour, rather than another riverside restaurant further upstream that I won't mention here that I was going to book. The tasting menu was good value and delicious, while the service turned a special occasion into something exceptional. The sommelier was particularly impressive in his attention to detail, good humour and open-mindedness about wines from around the world and not just his native country! All in all, definitely a place I'd revisit time and time again.

The kitchen seemed to have had some issues on a busy saturday night (which should be expected no?). All dished were extremelly late and the main course was very much below the standard of the house.. The waiters were all very apologetic.. but nothing they could do.. shame.. At least they realised the mess and didn't charge for the main course..

Le Pont de La Tour really needs to decide whether it wants to be a tourist trap or a fine dining establishment. Food and Service good. Wine List overpriced. Ambience mediocre. Looking tired and unloved - particulary Loo's. This is not a cheap restaurant, and facilities are far from immaculate. Pont de La Tour has definitely seen better days. All in all, a disappointing visit.

There were 7 of us celebrating my son's birthday. We have been before to the restaurant so we're expecting good things. The setting and views are amazing but the service on this occasion was appalling. I had booked through open table so had stipulated the set menu list for our party. This wasn't given - I had to ask twice for the correct menus. After filling our water glasses we were then left by for 25 -30 minutes. In the end I had to call a waiter over to request someone take our order. It was very embarrassing. Once the food arrived it was good though overpriced (our guests ended choosing a mixture from the a la carte & set list, which I think is why we weren't given the correct menus from the off). In conclusion: very disappointing.

Booking time: 8pm, 20/09/2014 It has been many years since my last visit and I am happy to report their standard of cooking remains excellent. We only went for fish/seafood dishes. The swordfish and lobster starters were brilliantly executed. The portions were not large, but enough to whet the appetite, leaving us looking forward to the mains. For the mains, we had the stone bass and Dover sole dishes. The fish were cooked to perfection. The mains were fresh; any additional flavours were subtle and did not intrude. For us, the level of service was just right: always there when we needed it, but never felt intruded or overbearing. We sat on the outside of the restaurant which offered an excellent view of the Thames. Highly recommend.

I booked a table at Le Pont de la Tour as a surprise birthday dinner for my partner. The waiters were very attentive, polite and friendly. I expected excellent customer service and we were both happy with everything. Food came quickly and looked and tasted absolutely delicious. The waiter came with our bill and with a slice of a birthday cake towards the end which was a nice surprise and ending to our dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone that wants to celebrate a special occasion as it is quite expensive but a nice treat. Plus, the location is a bonus as you can view Tower Bridge from a distance.

My son was going off to Uni and wanted a last night to really encapsulate London living so we went to Le Pont de la Tour, it did the trick. A fantastic iconic view of the river and Tower Bridge (which even opened while we were there to top it off), a great food selection, exquisitely cooked and served and a comprehensive wine list which includes wines from the most expensive to the far more reasonable day to day wines which although pricey are not excessive. Service was a little slow to start with but improved after the first course was served but we had to ask for more bread and wait for the wine to be poured a couple of times. Expensive but worth it for a treat!

Amazing views, friendly reception, excellent table at the window as requested, live background music playing. Food well prepared and presented and good descriptions given by staff. Descriptions of wine not as clear due to strong accent of wine waiter. Very expensive but we were aware of this before visiting. Overall an outstanding evening.

I've been to this restaurant on numerous occasions but had not previously tried the tasting menu, which looked an attractive option. Acknowledging it was a tasting menu, the 5 courses presented were very tasty and well presented but sadly I left feeling hungry from the meagre portions. When adding in wine, the cheapest of which is around £40 per bottle, at over £180 for two it was disappointing to not feel satiated, particularly in comparison to places like the Bingham in Richmond. That aside, the service was attentive, the setting spectacular and the ambience was good, yet Chop House which is adjacent will be my preferred choice next time.

Went to PdlT for a Saturday lunch with my wife and 5-year old - had a fantastic meal, great food, fab view of the Pont de la Tour (i.e. Tower Bridge), excellent service from our waiter and sommelier; the one downside of the whole experience was one waiter (shortish guy with spikyish black hair) who, when not busy, insisted on talking loudly with any other member of staff fairly close to our table (despite repeated glares from my wife!), all other staff when standing at the same station were far quieter and more considerate of guests...

Girls night out, some of us arrived late but they allowed us to still have the menu du jour offer which is great value. We added on a dessert from a la carte which had a more varied and interesting range. Altogether came to about 40 pounds per person and we didn't have wine. Good food and great view but for that price, there are other French places that do it better. Our table seemed to be in the middle of everything so waiters were always rushing around which did spoil the ambiance a bit. It was a bit noisy but there was live music which was great. We sat inside but next time a would either sit outside or not in the main restaurant or go earlier so it's a bit quieter

Sitting at river level with a spectacular view of Tower Bridge all lit up, the food was almost incidental. The chateaubriand was very good and the wine selection amazing - particularly from the smaller fine quality NZ vinyards. Dessert was a little uninspiring - raspberry creme brûlée? Good but dull. I would certainly take visitors to London there on a fine evening. We sat out and it was lovely but inside there was a piano player who was deafening so we were glad we didn't sit there.

Booked thus for a birthday treat and had the tasting menu. We sat outside and had a great view of tower bridge and was perfectly heated. Inside there was a piano and lovely decor. The food was delicious and a wine was brought with each course. Apparently they missed a wine but pointed it out themselves and gave us champagne and port. There re?action showed how seriously they took customer service. Hope our wine waiter didn't get shouted at because he was great too. Overall, delicious food, great wine and faultless service.
