  • Over-rated and very disappointing

Took a client out to lunch and quite frankly was not only embarrassing but also an experience I never wish to repeat. The service was terrible, a bunch of headless chickens, having no idea what is on the menu, had to retake my order 3 times! They ended up bringing too many dishes to the table. Food took ages to come (a good 40 min at lunch) and my colleagues mash potatoes was cold. I didn't think my dish was anything particular: small pieces of grilled salmon on a non descript mushy base. Seriously would never go back and I think that's terribly disappointing as I had been wanting to go of a very long time following the good reviews.

  • Terrible, Terrible Service

Excellent food. Truly terrible service, to the point they should be ashamed of how bad it is. Delivering food to the wrong table, letting the diners start eating it when the diners said they didn't order it, and then taking the plates from under their noses to give it to the right table, and thinking that's totally ok after the food's already been picked at. Delivering one dessert order and not the other, so one diner's sitting there with nothing. And more. Come for the early bird menu (3 courses and a drink for £23) - a good deal for the quality of the food, but expect to be served by completely clueless, inexperienced staff. The normal dinner menu is about twice the price, which most people wouldn't want to pay for such poor service.

Lovely flavours and the food was a beautiful as a picture. Everything from the cerviche which was stunning in flavour, the octopus yum!, right through to the beetroot emulsion with Dulce de leche and ice cream. Pisco sours are incredibly sour but hey that's expected and sometimes can be just what the doctor ordered.

We went for the set lunch, which was excellent value at £23 for 3 courses. As only two options per course, and just two of us, we ate the entire menu and it was all delicious. Plus the great price allows you to justify a few pisco sours! The staff were excellent and took time to explain lots of ingredients which we didn't recognise - and to recommend drinks. A very relaxed, light space, and everyone there seemed to be having a great time which added to the atmosphere. We'll definitely be going back again.

Original and imaginative menu which was totally delicious. Excellent attentive though not overbearing service. But portions are embarrassingly small. Booked the Top Table £20 2 course special but starters were no more than amuse bouche and main courses no more than starters! Desserts were half a table spoon of ice cream. We also realised after leaving that we had been charged 2 x £4.50 for 2 small cocktails which were supposed to be complimentary as part of the deal. Portions would have been acceptable as part of a multi-course tasting menu. We won't be returning.

Yes it is an average restaurant. First time I tried it cost quite a bit, but this time I purchased the lunch offer and it was quite reasonable. I think the portions should be a little larger. You can eat well but the service is't at its best. Also the tables were not cleaned properly. They were sticky and had crams on them. I show one of the waiters cleaning a table with a cloth, throwing the crams on the floor and not bothering to ensure he cleaned it correctly. With a little more attention it would be great.

We dined at this restaurant on Saturday and loved it! The food was absolutely amazing. Delicious, fresh ingredients, and great recommendations from the staff. Every dish was fantastic - we could not have asked for more. The ambience is also lovely. The restaurant has quite a relaxed and casual feel about not. Not pretentious at all, which is great, unlike many Michelin star restaurants. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be going back.

It is rare to be able to be at a restaurant where the staff takes the time to explain what the ingredients are in the dish. Given that Lima sources many of its dishes and contents from Peru and many of us are not aware of the spices used it is refreshing to have the details provided. Having had some experience in the past in eating Peruvian food, it was a pleasure to have a variety of choices that were not heavy on the potato and corn. I had the Amazonian Fish and I would have never thought that Fish and Chocolate would be such a winning combination! My friends had the Pork Belly and another the Duck. Both were cooked to perfection! Next time need to tuck-in the deserts, there was no space left after the wonderful meal.

I was very curious and with a lot of expectations, after reading a lot about this restaurant. Unfortunately, the expectations have not been fulfilled . The real problem was the bad service and lack of professionalism on the part of management . All the rules of a good restaurant broken. Not acceptable, especially if you want to be at high levels . Food fair , too long intervals between courses. One hours and forty-five minutes for only 1 starter and 1 main course .

Ive been wanting to go to Lima since it opened. Ceviche is one of my top foods so i was very excited. Flavourwise it was great, loved it. Unfortunately that was all. The table was tiny and we struggled to even fit (im a small person). Service was very irregular and it felt as if the waiter was very easily distracted even though the restaurant wasnt even full. The portion sizes were small which could be ok, but not for that price. Very expensive for what it was. Altogether the negatives adds up and i wont be going back. Shame since the food was very tasty.

Very good option if you really enjoy surprising flavours. Took my boyfriend for hia birthday and we were delighted with the food. We love good food and certainly were not disappointed at all. What we liked the least were the dessert we shared...it was ice cream with dulce de leche...and it was nice but over priced. We will definitely be going back to try more things!

My partner and I dined at Lima in a Friday evening. The food's presentation is excellent and it was clear how much effort and artistry went into each item. Although our starters took some time to arrive, the courses that followed reached our table swiftly. The food was very tasty. That said, this is a very expensive restaurant and, having eatem a similiar quality of food at cheaper restaurants, would consider Lima somewhat overpriced.

We felt slightly cheated in that we booked an early dinning slot at 6 to make use of the express offer. when we arrived we finally ordered at 6.15 and were told the express menu was not available. Food was great except the service was very poor we felt, felt more cafe service, felt very rushed and bread/water/wine was not being topped up.

Food never to forget. My family and I eat out a lot, but never have I had such genuine, unique and delicious food! The portions were like small pieces of art, so delicate-looking and aesthetically pleasing, but nothing compares to the way they tasted! The balance of flavours was exquisite and there was variety across the menu, both fish and meat were equally mouthwatering. The causa with sea bass and blue potato was a particular show stopper! If you like raw fish, and high quality meat, this is the place to go! This meal will be remembered for a lifetime! Lima has now officially become my favourite restaurant and genuinely makes me want to travel to Peru. I could not stop smiling when leaving the restaurant, such feel-good food it was!

Enjoyed the food, but portions were very small, including the cocktail that we paid £8.50, which was very small. Dessert was basically a spoon of ice cream with some crumbs and they also charged £8.50 - flavourwise it certainly didn't last long in the memory. Probably wouldn't bother going back, other restaurants with better portions and better food that represent better value for money. Service was ok, but we ordered 2 cocktails and were brought one, so had to ask for another one. Be warned the tap water is cucumber and cranberry flavoured - a nice touch, but i can't stand cucumber, so had to ask for normal tap water! (fussy moo aren't I?!!)

This was the third time that I have been to Lima for their lunch 'deal' (£20 for 2 course or £23 for 3) and once again, the food was excellent. Never too sure exactly what all the ingredients are from the menu, but the waiter kindly explains each dish. Choice is limited to 2 dishes per course, and each time I have been, we have managed to try everything between us, and have not had a disappointing dish yet. Have not tried the restaurant in the evening, and from prices would be a lot more expensive, but hope to do so soon, but would certainly recommend for a lunchtime treat. Can get busy and a bit noisy at times, but I suppose that this is a consequence of its popularity.

Excellent food, showing real effort, in an unpretentious, rather relax surrounding, which was much appreciated. The service is good - some would say "and not pretentious", some other "but not that elaborate". The prices, without being that low, are reasonable for the kind of cuisine. Only the wine (rather cheapish on the wine list) was disappointing, actually not good (Pinot Noir from Uruguay). The unusual flavours are such that we'll try and go back to order some other dishes from the menu that we haven't tried!

Went here for a birthday. After a little overlap and confusion between two waitresses we received very friendly and efficient service - almost too efficient as we had to slow down the waitress to stop it all being over in an hour. All dishes were very well presented, with flavours ranging from pleasantly unusual to delicious. Wine list prices were restrained. The bathrooms felt a bit like a nightclub toilet but a minor gripe in an otherwise pleasant evening. Pleased they made a special effort for the birthday girl too

Expensive but one-of-a-kind Michelin-starred Peruvian cuisine. Amazing tuna ceviche, roast-beef carpaccio and fish mains. I'd pass on the mashed-potato-based Causas. Great if small Pisco Sours - the passion fruit one is as wonderful as the clasico. The wine list is good - we picked one of the more reasonably priced Riojas and it was divine. The service is fine - could be slightly more attentive. We were told many times that we only had the table for 2 hours, but they didn't make a big deal out of it and let us sit there as long as we wanted (ie another 30 minutes). Small portions and not "good value" but you pay for the scarcity of this sort of wonderful food.
