Diner Reviews
  • "This is the ideal spot to have lunch when visiting the Museum of London. Despite some confusion finding it (it's above ground level, hence a taxi will not be able to locate it), we had a delicious meal that pleased even our picky young travelers. I would definitely return."

  • "Once you find the restaurant it's a nice enough to place to meet friends but, on a Monday evening anyway, it was completely dead and had no real atmosphere. Food was fine. Staff were friendly."

  • "I don't know why I didn't know about this restaurant right next to the Museum of London. A relaxed friendly atmosphere and good healthy food. I especially liked the fresh English country style flowers everywhere "

  • "If you havve kids who like one of he pizza options then this is the place for you but my goats cheese salad was a disappointment - limited goats cheese with bunches of watercress with the odd yellow leaf. my companions's burger and fish & chips were acceptable."

  • "We often eat in the benugo restaurant at the BFI where the food and service is excellent therefore, this branch in London wall was a huge disappointment. The waitress seemed to spend more time chatting to the manager than looking after customers. We were not told about the specials. The food when it eventually arrived was very disappointing, it stayed on the service counter for a long time before being brought to our table. The salads were soggy, smothered in dressing and the roast potatoes stale and gravy congealed. Perhaps, Monday is not the best day to go!"

  • "Social atmosphere. Good food, simple menu, effieicnt and friendly srvice. Enjoyed the experience andwould return if back in that area again."

  • "I think that was the best battered fish I have had in years. service was polite and friendly but they did bring us the wrong wine (quickly replaced). despite it being in an area with a lot of schools visiting the museum, the restaurant was almost child free and a pleasant place to spend an hour."

  • "excellent food and service; good value, especially considering that it is close to the City we will look forward to going there again!"

  • "Chosen for its position, otherwise would have found somewhere cheaper as £45 for a glass of wine, dish of salad and pot of tea for two people is a bit on the high side! But the food was good, plentiful and tasty and the service friendly and attentive."

  • "I was part of a group of six who ate at London Wall on a Saturday lunchtime in late February. At the time we sat down, the restaurant was about half-full. Service was cordial, but slow and ineffectual; we waited some twenty minutes between placing our drinks order and our food order, despite trying to attract the attention of the waiting staff. The real ale on tap (Deuchars IPA) was clearly off - cloudy and vinegary, with floating particles - which should have been picked up by competent bar staff. The beef and marrowbone burger, specifically ordered medium, turned up very well done; it wasn't clear whether or not the request had been passed to the kitchen. We returned the beers and the burger, and they were replaced reasonably promptly."

  • "Staff very helpful but wine and presecco very expensive and the service charge was a lot considering there was 10 of us and the bill was over £300."
    dined on 15/02/2014
  • "Booked up front restaurant menu sent to us and choices made. All worked really well. Cost of prosecco at £35 a bottle excessively steep. Otherwise costs reasonable and food nicely done. More pub than fine dining. Will certainly book again."

  • "Very convenient and excellent value while visiting London Museum. Service very efficient and pleasant Wonderful teardrop chillies in the salmon dish."
    dined on 05/02/2014
  • "Airplane quality food for an expensive price. It took 3 hours to cook our food because they were having difficulties in the kitchen. Of course they waited to tell us until after we were committed to 30 pounds worth of a set meal. At least half of our group became sick from the food. The terrible food and service was all covered up by a pomp attitude."

  • "We chose this restaurant for its location at the Museum of London. It's just to the left of the main entrance. The food was fine, the restaurant has a pleasant ambiance, I'm not sure what to call it, shabby chic 1960s? Anyway it was a pleasant experience and the prices weren't to bad in view of the location."
    dined on 21/11/2013
  • "Very convenient after a visit to museum of London. Our waitress was wonderful !"

  • "Staff very helpful and we were allowed to enjoy a leisurely lunch before going to the Museum. Food was very good. It did get very noisy."

  • "I love London Wall - great venue that not too many people know about!"
    dined on 07/11/2013
  • "We went to this restaurant because it was right next to the Museum of London. What we had was of good quality, although they had run out of draught ale and bread of any sort! Service was a bit patchy and our dessert order was taken wrongly. Corrected promptly however. Over all not bad but not outstanding."
    dined on 02/11/2013
  • "Couldn't have been more accommodating as we changed the time of our table at least twice. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu was good and varied....all 4 of us chose something different and it was all delicious and interesting. Would definitely recommend it even if you are not going to the Museum of London."
    dined on 28/10/2013
  • "A convenient spot for an informal business lunch, sat outside on the terrace (above a busy roundabout, although you would not know it). However - service virtually non-existent; we were not even greeted by anyone so seated ourselves; - the "industrial chique" metal topped table outside rapidly became burning hot to the touch in the lunchtime sun and overly-reflective; - the day's "special" was a rather pathetically mean looking salad and yet it was priced the same as other main dishes."
    dined on 06/08/2013
  • "I had my post graduation meal here, although it was quiet as it was a bit out the way, that was a calming break from the manic that was in the barbican. Lovely food, and very filling, the menu isn't excessive but that didn't bither us and what we ordered was delicious. Would definitely recommend"
    dined on 30/07/2013
  • "Very disappointed, booked a table well in advance of dinner only to be left a voice mail (good job I was in the office) that there was a private party going on!"
    dined on 19/07/2013
  • "A simple menu at reasonable prices. Food looked appetising - we both had the salmon with the wild rice - when it arrived and we were served by a very friendly waiter. We were not rushed and it seems a perfect place for a quick meal or a leisurely catch up with a friend."
    dined on 04/07/2013
  • "Fine. Nice service, we had an hour there prior to a concert at the Barbican. Barbican only 5 min walk away (walk through walkway on 1st floor - much nicer than street level. Burgers great, food and bill all in time and easy. Not a place for a top dining experience but does just fine for catch up, nice food and pre-Barbican dinner. Burgers about £13 or so and wine about £6 a glass. Not cheap but fine for this part of London. Happy to go again pre another concert."
    dined on 02/07/2013
  • "The food was very well prepared but the wait was unforgiveable, particularly given the menu is already quite limited. It took 30 mins for our drinks order to arrive (just wine) and a further 20 mins after that (i.e. 50 mins after arriving) for our starters to arrive. Our mains then turned up at the same time as our starters and had to be sent back. When we were ready for our mains, the same ones that we turned away were brought to us rather than freshly prepared ones. This meant some of the diners' meals were over cooked. Very disappointed and I am unlikely to return."
    dined on 28/06/2013
  • "We had the best beefburger I think I've ever had here. Chips were were superb too. Service easy and friendly. Will definitely go back"

  • "Very professional and understated. A great restaurant in an area with few good restaurants nearby."

  • "Very impressed with London Wall B&K. Very friendly service and paced about right...not slow but not rushing you either. Food delicious and on a lovely sunny London afternoon, a very pleasant place for lunch."
    dined on 01/05/2013
  • "The food was frankly sad. The charcut' plate was the only dish the 4 of us would order again. We tried 3 types of burgers and a pasta dish. The burgers were dry, small and tasteless. We have had many burgers lately from a variety of new players and these were not only the worst, but the most expensive! The pasta was overcooked. Go for a drink as the wine list is good."
    dined on 17/04/2013
  • "Been here a few times and the ambience is always relaxed. Food is always good when it arrives and there is enough to satisfy your appetitie. All three of us were satisfied with the portion size. (two burgers and fish finger butty). The pint of sausage rolls was a nice treat and was well received. Very informal, and I like the decor and the large glass windows that let you watch the passing visitors to the London Museum. Service could be improved by being sharper and making sure that menus arrive quicker to the table and then ensure that requests are followed up - a request for desert menus did not materialise, so we paid and left as on a schedule. Overall a good meal, and I will revist because I like the relaxed nature of the place"

  • "London Wall Bar & Restaurant is unfortunately located, right next to the Museum of London, but in a spot which must discourage casual passers by. It's a shame, as inside it has a lovely atmosphere, great wines, really helpful staff and good food, with some seriously creative options to the normal City lunch (lobster mac and cheese anyone?)"
    dined on 15/02/2013
  • "Great atmosphere, and tasty food. Lacking in Service. Went on a Friday lunchtime, surprisingly not too busy, but still took a few minutes to be noticed at the door. It then took 10 minutes for a drink order, by which time we were ready to order mains. The drinks arrived very quickly and the sparkling wine was lovely and cold. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive, thus had to eat very quickly. That said, the food was hot, plentiful and delicious, and when we asked for the bill it was done quickly and finally with a smile. Just a more attentive service needed and please change those awful white chefs shirts the waitresses wear! Would go back, but not with clients."

  • "Limited evening menu, reasonable ambience, slow but pleasant service."
    dined on 20/11/2012
  • "Not a vast menu but the food we ordered was pretty tasty. Portions are generous for what you pay and alcohol is not extortionate either. Friendly staff, spacious interiors with lovely comfy seating. Shame the music wasn't turned on until much, much later. I havent been during the day but my guess would be that it would be a great place for a work lunch / lazy afternoon particularly in Summer with outdoor its areas overlooking the walled garden right outside. 8.5 out of 10"

  • "Great location for after work drinks, Good food and good wine list. Slightly slow service but otherwise good."
    dined on 16/10/2012
  • "Eaten here before. It's a pretty low key easy lunch experience. Limited menu but food quality pretty decent. All washed down with a pint. I'll probably be back. Just far enough away from Smithfield and Moorgate to escape the usual unch time scrum"
    dined on 12/10/2012
  • "The staff were very friendly and helpful, making it a relaxing place to meet up. We all had the Fish & Chips which were great, but left us with no room to even think about pudding!"
    dined on 11/10/2012
  • "Following my graduation ceremony at The Barbican, I was looking for a nice friendly restaurant for lunch that gave us a relaxed atmosphere, good food and good service. The London Wall Bar & Kitchen was relaxed yet efficient, we arrived and ordered champagne, they went to alot of trouble to ensure that we were comfortable and happy while we waited for our last guest to arrive. We were not rushed, the food was excellent and I would definately go again."
    dined on 14/09/2012
  • "The service was great and the food yummy!! We were informed there would be a slight delay as a number of tables had ordered at the same time (we were a table of 10) which was fine and we were glad to be told rather than just left. Food as always was lovely and all arrived at the same time. Not sure about child friendly, but there were two parties with babies when we were there...!! In fact I'm going back again next week and looking forward to it :-)"
