The waitress that served our table got the final bill incorrect and tried to charge us £90 instead of £36. She made a point of giving us a calculator in a rude manner and saying we should use it to calculate since we thought she was wrong, which she actually turned out to be. When she realised this, she didn't even make the effort to properly apologise and instead thought she would make a point of saying it was right when she calculated it, so she didn't know what happened. Seafood risotto was nice, everything else was very bland.

My husband and I were on a weekend trip to London. I love Italian and L'luvio had pretty good reviews. The place was pretty empty on a Friday night which wasn't a good start. The waitress was quite unfriendly and it took quite a while to get our drinks. When our mains arrived my husband's pesto pasta was drowning in oil and was pretty inedible. My prawns were over cooked and greasy. We didn't bother with dessert. There are far more excellent Italian restaurants in Leicester Square. . Give this one a miss!

My family and I had dinner there at 6pm on a Thursday before going to the Theatre. The weather was nice and there was Al Fresco dining as well as indoor dining available. The style of the place is of a classic Italian Trattoria, and the menu features all of the classic choices you would expect and a few special items. Given we had an hour or so pre-theatre, we opted for a single main course each. The service, with a bit of prompting, was attentive, and the food was served to us properly prepared and hot. My son opted for pasta, and received a generous portion. My wife prompted for Salmon which was of adequate size, and I ordered Veal which I would also describe as a good but not large portion. Overall good quality/nothing exceptional.

We chose this after reading great reviews. We sat down in an almost empty restaurant and yet the service was incredibly slow. The menu online was much bigger than the one we were given. The music (some Celine Dion cd that never ended) was so ridiculously loud that we couldn't even concentrate on the menu. The atmosphere was so terrible we decided to just get an order of calamari and leave. It took forever and was rubbery and stringy. Considering there were only two other tables sat, it is sad that it took forever to get a server's attention and they made no attempt to get us to stay. On our way out we noticed a daily specials menu that we were never even given. We ended up eating at Cafe Rouge next door which was amazing!

The food was ok but nothing more than that. Ham in the Tagliatelle al prosciutto was the cheapest they could find but apart from that the food was edible. Cheap tourist place - not for Londoners, I would say. What will really stay in mind from our dinner there was the service: The waiters don't seem to speak any English? They don't seem to have a system of who does which table. They are not very attentive. Shame, I have a character limit here as I would have a lot more to say about this place...

This was the second time we had used this restaurant for a pre-theatre meal in 2 weeks. Both times, the food was superb - better than anything I have experienced outside Italy for Italian food. But, also, the service was very poor. The waiting staff on both occasions were very young, and clearly not properly trained. And they are not well co-ordinated.

I booked a table for 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) for a Saturday evening. We were staying in Leicester Square and just wanted a good home-cooked Italian restaurant. The menu was very limited, service chaotic, food was very average and took ages to arrive. Fries that were ordered as side dishes arrived with garlic bread as a starter! We sent them back and yes, they then forgot to serve them with our main courses! Kids had lost their appetite by the time meals arrived and my wife and I were at that point where we just wanted to leave! In the end we wished we'd just gone for a chain like Bella italia or similar! We won't be back!..

Really nice traditional Italian restaurant perfect position for pre-theatre dinner. We've been twice pre-gig and pre-theatre. The food was excellent on both occasions and the staff friendly and attentive without being too pushy. The carafe of wine is a good option if there's only 2 of you. Will definitely use it again.

It was the second time we have eaten in L'ulivo Leicester Square, for a pre theatre meal, and we will eat there again without hesitation. We really like the food. There are lots of vegetarian options. The restaurant is staffed by Italian young people who are very polite and the service they give is excellent. The place has a very nice feel and is not too expensive given the quality of the food.

The food was mediocre but the real problems where that we were crammed into a corner next to the kitchen, our drinks sat on the side for 15 minutes before finally being brought over! We had our starters for 10 minutes had nowhere near finished before our mains were brought out to us and we had cram all the plates onto our little table, they then took ages to remove the starter plates. Finally we were presented with the wrong bill and told that someone else had paid ours, needless to say we paid for what we ate and left! I will NOT be returning and would NOT recommend to anyone!

Took my girlfriend here for valentines day, just before going to a comedy club and the whole place was kitted out romantically-a nice touch. Thankfully we weren't restricted to the set menu because they never have much of a choice and instead we were spoilt for choice with a large range on the menu.

I vised L'ulivo Sunday last with my wife for our anniversary. After reading the reviews was very pleased with our choice. However upon visiting the restaurant it was a real let down, from start to finish. Our antipasti, I had Mushrooms in Gorgonzola which was very basic and semi warm. I think it was sitting there all day as it was brought out in a matter of minutes. My wife had ciabatta bread topped with chopped vine ripened tomatoes, this was just a load of Sainsburrys basic tomatoes thrown on the a piece of flat bread. Our main meal was no better, I had the Chicken Milanese which was about as tasty as an old boot. Needless to say we don't have any afters and left as soon as and wont be going back. Don't waste your money

We had guests in from out of town for the holidays, so this was the perfect meeting point after a long day of taking in the sights to have dinner before heading to the theatre. Centrally located and within a quick walk to several tube stops, its adequate food and service, as well as an easy convening point for a group. Not recommended for a special occasion, discerning foodies or for anyone looking for great top tier service.

My date was running 30 minutes late but that didn't cause any problems. After I ordered a drink the staff pretty well left me alone apart from the occasional check to see that all was well. Once my date arrived our order was taken fairly swiftly. All courses arrived without undue delay and the food was well presented, cooked as ordered and delicious. At a fraction over £50 for drinks, a shared starter, main courses and a shared dessert I felt that it represented excellent value.

This will be the fourth time dining at L'ulivo and once again the food, service and atmosphere was superb. The only thing that I could fault was the dessert. I am not too sure if these are bought in or home made, however they were not good value for money and of a really poor quality. I will definitely dine at L'ulivo next time I am in London but will choose an entree as opposed to a dessert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant but booking before hand is advisable as it does get extremely busy.

This was the third time we have been to this restaurant. The other times were very good. This time we told them we had booked through Top Table, they never even checked and just gave us a table (no reserved sign on tablel). We waited ages until a waiter came to take our order, we had to ask for service. My daughter had Chicken which she said was V. good. I had Sea Bream which was not too bad but, plate was filled with salad which I did not want. The potatoes came separately and were quite good.

Beware! Online this restaurant looks like an actual Italian restaurant. Take it from an American of Italian descent this is the worst kind of tourist trap. Food was boring and flat, under seasoned. Wait staff pretended to know what was Italian and what wasn't. When you get there you will immediately know you are going to be scammed as they are part of the entire tourist scene at Leicester Square. Host out hawking and trying to bring people in along with all the other restaurants on the street. We got the impression from the site that they were a little, authentic Italian place. This is not so.
