Had a lovely meal in Madison. Has a great vibe- the music is loud so do not go there if you like to eat in quiet! But I thought that added to it, it's not often you sit in a restaurant with fab music blaring! Typical London prices, it was not extortionate. They didn't have our table ready when we arrived, we had to wait 20mins, but we sat outside an soaked up the atmosphere so not a problem...they brought us all a glass of prosecco to apologise for the delay, thigh I thought was a nice touch, not many places would do that! I also got a big birthday plate brought out. Overall had a lovely time. Shame it's not open later though, as by the time we were finished, it was closing 👎 but would definitely recommend, and will definitely go back.

The location is spectacular with a unique view of Saint Paul's area. Some dishes can be a bit pricey but the quality is good and the setting completely make up for a great dinner and/or night out. Some might feel the restaurant is very loud because of the music.

While the ambience of the place is really fascinating and lovely, the food tastes extremely poor. We had ordered a veg main course and side, both of which were half cooked and hard to swallow. I can't comment on the meat courses but don't go with a veg option at this place!

Had been here before for drinks so knew it was fairly lively. Decided to eat this time with group of 6 for birthday celebration and catch up. Unfortunately it was so loud we could not even hear ourselves speaking and ended up shouting at each other all night. Menu limited and pricey for what it was. Best option was Sea bass which was nice. I would say forget the food and stick to drinks and enjoy the surroundings, stunning views if St Pauls. Also would have been great with a range of music rather than the same beat for 4 hours straight.

A stunning roof top location with acceptable food is let down by poor and indifferent service. Some waiting staff really try to make a difference but, for the number of staff it's unfathomable why it takes so long.

I took my boyfriend to Madison for his birthday and it definitely delivers as somewhere special. The food was not over priced and it was an exceptional standard. We spent about £200 but that included 3 courses each (with steak and lobster!) A bottle of champagne and a few cocktails so all in all not bad at all. However it was let down by our drinks taking so long to be served to us. We wanted a cocktail with our starters but it didn't arrive as the bar was so busy on a Friday night. People eating should get priority as we will be paying more money over the course of the evening. Plus waiting 20 minutes for a cocktail isn't really on! But it didn't spoil the evening just means you should order drinks as soon as you walk in!

We had such an amazing time at Madison from the spectacular views of London and ambience of the restaurant to the delicious food and superb service. Alex was simply fabulous and not only gave us great service in regards to our food but was an absolute pleasure to chat to and share stories with. He even gave us some great tips for our honeymoon. Will certainly be coming back and hope that Alex is there to great us! Highly recommend for a special evening.

We were in London only for the day (Sunday) and decided to go for a lunch on a rooftop restaurant. We loved the Madison London. The view on London and St Paul's Cathedral is awesome as well as the lounge music. We had a Greek salad and a Caesar salad and it was good. The waiters and waitresses are very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed a lot coming at the Madison London and will come back for sure.

Our visit last weekend was incredibly disappointing, especially given I'd suggested Madison to friends for a lovely Saturday lunch and ended up feeling very embarrassed. It's such a shame because the location is beautiful with lovely views of St Paul's and the food is really good. However, we had some of the worst service I have ever come across. We arrived early and waited in the bar for our table. The bar waiter refused to let the restaurant know where we were sitting saying "It's not my job". Later, when we called over a waitress, she waved her hand at us and started arguing with 2 other waiters in front of us over whose section we were in. She then told us we're not her section and stormed off. So disappointing and such a shame.

The chairs are very uncomfortable, the view is not visible from the seating area. Nice ambience. Waiting staff not properly trained, messy, clumsy, indiscreet and amateur. Food was not bad but simple attention to the balance of dishes needed eg. 25 black olive in a small Greek octopus salad with only 10 small pieces of cucumber or serving chicken goujons with a yoghurt dip when what they were crying out for was lime and chilli. I would only go again for a drink and the view.

I went there for me and my partners graduation...we didn't get seen for for at least 40 minutes...drinks too far too long to come while we waited. We spent over two hours at the table which was far too long. Although the atmosphere was quite nice very lively and busy. Food was average but very disappointed to be told their sea bass had just ran out. Didn't leave me with watch options as I was really looking forward to it. I also requested that a special message would be written on the dessert saying congratulations however nothing was done. So very disappointed in their service. Great view but not worth the price for the service they provide.

I made a booking for a Thurs night as my parents were in town. I had been to Madison but only for drinks on the outdoor terrace so I knew the view would be amazing and great for out of town guests. What I didn't expect was that the restaurant would be more like a club atmosphere with a DJ and music so loud you couldn't hear what the person across the table was saying. It was packed with people dancing throughout. This wouldn't have been bad except I imagined a nice dinner with a lovely view. We also were put in the corner table next to the kitchen and didn't see much of the cathedral. If you're looking for more of a party scene then go here. If not, I'd recommend just going up for a drink or just take the lift up for the view.

While the setting is amazing we found the restaurant particularly noisy and felt the drinkers should be deprecated from the diners. We both had steak and my wife's fillet was really tender but lacked flavour and seasoning whereas my sirloin was very flavourful but full of gristle and particularly tough and not trimmed which is disappointing when the steaks are advertised as Hereford Beef. We both felt the cost was excessive £60 pp for two courses including 2 drinks for the food quality and felt we could have gone elsewhere for cheaper and had a better meal.

Although Madison promotes itself as a restaurant with fabulous views, in fact only about 30% of the floor space is restaurant. Dinners are in corral well away from the fabulous views (think airport departure lounge). The rest of the area is given over to a very lively and crowded city bar. Seems strange to give the spectacular views to the after-work drinkers rather than people who are there to spend considerably more on a night out. Not sure why this is necessary when they have a cocktail bar / tapas bar at the same location. I was there scouting out the venue for a corporate occcasion, and left after a drink without eating.

The restaurant itself is just awesome, specially because of the views. There you can go to have just a coffee, enjoy the terrace, have a cocktail or eat. The food is incredibly good, and as well the kitchen is facing the restaurant so you can see how carefully they treat the food. The service as well is very good, all the waiters and waitress and host/hostess are very caring and attentive with the guests. I don't remember de names but I remember to have been served by 2 lovely waiters, one English and another one Portuguese, and to have been seated by a lovely as well blond hair hostess and a very nice Brazilian guy. A big thank you to all of them

Went there for lunch, service was great, cocktails were great, the location is perfect. We enjoyed our coffees on the sofas situated in the windows over-looking St Paul's Cathedral- lovely. The food was nice, but I was expecting better. I think I had set my standards too high as reviews I had read said it was pretty special, and it is not cheap! I would describe the food as 'decent restaurant'. Nothing special, but nice enough. I probably wouldn't go again unless with someone who specifically wanted to dine there. Best for cocktails on the terrace outside- very buzzy atmosphere.

The food was very average for the price being charged. The redeeming aspects of the restaurant were the views, the attentive service (who were not too pompous as in other similar restaurants), and the general ambiance. I would definitely recommend Madison, but perhaps just for drinks and tapas. Or, if you don't mind paying a rather hefty price simply for the views, then this is a must-go place also.

12.15 booking on a Friday, quite empty but soon got busy with the lunch crowd. Music choice a bit odd (80s-ish power-funk, not really conducive to setting)and too loud initially. Calmed down a bit and was much more condusive to eating! Had some tapas (fresh, tasty and swift to come out) with a glass of lovely prosecco. Then some dessert with coffee - really good. Had the sofas with great views and the service was great, very friendly and helpful. Would certainly come back for other food, pricey but not bad for the city - you could do a lot worse. Would bring people here for drinks and light bites, and would consider an evening meal midweek. Could certainly see if busy might not appeal for anything more than a few beers with mates. Enjoyed.

Very crowded and noisy but the food was great and service was friendly and attentive. Did get ice dropped on me with no apology when a staff member dropped some glasses of water but didn't affect the evening. Used the ES offer so was good value but comp glasses of wine were miniscule (probably because they used bigger glasses). Smoked chicken caesar salad was outstanding, as was the flat iron steak, fries were overdone though. Double chocolate brownie was delicious! All in all a very pleasant meal with amazing view of St Paul's which is clearly the draw.

  • Madison - lovely venue

    Dined on 9/8/2014
Madison is a lovely venue and serves very nice, well cooked food, however, when we went, it was, understandably, busy being a Saturday but also very noisy. There is nothing, really, the venue can do about this. The prices are quite expensive, but again, for locals this is likely to be acceptable. The clientele seems to be mostly wealthy business people from the city, which there is nothing wrong with, but being country bumpkins, we felt a bit inferior. Our issue, nothing more. Again, this is no reflection on the actual restaurant, more an observation which contributes to the ambience. Overall, good place, nice food, good service and, if you've got the cash and want to see how the big city folk relax, go for it. You won't be let down.
