Diner Reviews
  • "The food was simply the best! the portions were appropriate and tasted heavenly. The service was ok but we could have done with a few less hickups. First, they got our drinks order wrong in spite of us physically pointing to the item on the menu. There there were two waiters both trying to wait on us at every stage. You would think they have a decent computerized waiting system that would assign a single waiter to a table. Over all, will certainly go back there for the food! Oh, and they have a 50% off on starters and main course - unmissable!"

  • "Even with the 50% discount it's still pricy with a glass of wine each. Nice ambience and excellent food and service."

  • "The service was excellent as was the food .With the Open table discount the value is very good. The restaurant has a real buz and we certainly plan to return"

  • "Small main meal portions and very expensive for what it was. The staff were amazing with my daughter and let us eat our whilst entertaining her."

  • "Went for sunday lunch and found the service to be very attentive and well mannered. The food was good and came promptly. If you're looking for Michelin quality dining you won't find it here, but you find a restaurant with decent food."

  • "I think the food is over priced. We had a 25% discount and the bill still felt expensive. I cannot fault the service. Waiting staff were polite and efficient. Pad thai was excellent but the vegetable stir fry was average at best and lacked flavour. The cold spring rolls were also disappointing. Overall it definitely depends what you order as to how you rate the food which can range from super tasty to bland"

  • "Mango Tree is not all that it purports to be. The food is not the best of Thai. Besides, to spend in excess of £200 for three people is just too exorbitant. I am totally against the 12.5 % service charge levied on top of the cost - that is extortion in its strictest sense. I shall never return and never will I recommend it to anyone!!!"

  • "Once again a lovely meal - great food and lots of choice"

  • "We went as a foursome and we were welcomed warmly but that was where it ended. The waiting staff were trying but it would help if they had a better understanding of English and sometimes it's felt like they needed a lot of them to work out what the table required. The food was so bland and for the price I found this unacceptable. There was not one dish that I enjoyed and we all ordered a starter and a main each to share. Perhaps my expectations were just too high as I have eaten at the Mango Tree in Bangkok, which was delightful. Unfortunately I am sorry to say that in my humble opinion, this is the worse Thai food I have had to date. However the company was great and the restaurant wasn't overly crowded so that made up for it somewhat."

  • "Great night with excellent food and the wine was good. The restaurant needs a cheaper wine choice however. Otherwise all excellent."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "Really nothing special. Décor needs a massive revamp. Scuffed skirtings and walls, very plain room... it wasn't plush enough to get away with a minimalist décor and just came across as empty and shoddy. Waiters were very nice and attentive though. Food... I have definitely had better thai food. I didn't think it had the complexity of flavour that separates great thai cuisine from just thai flavours. Wouldn't go again, even on the offer..."

  • "A light and airy large room with a high ceiling give Mango Tree a clean modern look. A result of this is that the ambience gets 3 stars only for lack of intimacy and nearness of the tables. The food was very good, however, I would not want to pay full price for it since even on the 50% offer a meal for 4 came to almost £150, without really splashing out. Remember only the starter and main are 50%, any thing else is full price. It was interesting to see that the Ian Pengelley's (of Gilgamesh fame) food options were available for 25% off (1 of our party had a dish from there), and those options looked very nice. I really liked the food and would come again, but only if visiting the area."

  • "I took my sister and girlfriend to Mango Tree and it didn't disappoint.. There was a nice buzz inside the place - the service was great, with all the waiters and waitresses being very attentive to our needs. Food wise, it's quite an upmarket Thai restaurant so portions probably aren't as big as in say Thai Square but the quality of the food I think is better and worth the few extra £'s. I had the red chicken curry and it was very tasty without being too spicy either. I would go again, however, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here - the good is good without being particularly spectacular."

  • "I just love this restaurant, once again the food and service were amazing. We took advantage of the 50% food offer which was great. I would definitely recommend the Mango Tree"

  • "Made a booking for 6 people for dinner before going to the theatre. The staff was welcoming and understanding - we all arrived at different times. Food arrived on time and we all enjoyed the meal."

  • "Went there for a business lunch. Very nice fresh food and pleasant service. Good decor, which is not too casual for a business meeting."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Overpriced, smelly restaurant with bad thai food. Items came in cold, tasted stale. Some of the staff hardly understood any english, and w had a hard time conversing. Wont be going here again"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "The waiter who served us was constantly smiling. We were served very fast and the team were very attentive to our table and that of other diners. Atmosphere was nice but perhaps the tables were a little too close together. Food was nice and we'll presented but a bit overpriced. This is my 3rd time at MangoTree and I'd definitely recommend it."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "We received 50% discount through Open Table, but otherwise we would have found it slightly expensive. The food was really good though so we enjoyed. Minimum order of one starter and one main course applied to our offer. Location is very good, and the service was very good as well. They add a discretionary service charge of 12.5%, which we didn't think is a good idea."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "This was good Thai dining complete with Thai welcome and courtesy."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "Four of us ate at Mango Tree, Belgravia and had a very enjoyable evening. We were welcomed warmly and the table was available straight away. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were generous. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, however they needed to be just a little swifter with the drink orders and be more mindful of keeping water available for the table. We booked using the 50% off starter and main offer which was great value. The menu was a little confusing when it came to explaining what qualified for the offer and what did not - it took the staff a couple of attempts to make it clear what was included. I would eat here again."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "Good value with the Open Table 50% off voucher which you needed to have a starter and main. When we got there at 7 it wasn't that full and it was easy to hear each other, but by 9pm it was fairly noisy."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Been here many times over the years under 50% offer and although number of dishes not 50% is a bit annoying biggest disappointment now is the found isn't spicy like genuine thai food. Starters nice (seafood satay) but all 4 main courses were not even moderately spiced. Everything else was fine but wouldn't come back if want thai food."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "I had read lots of reviews about mango tree and was expecting it to be a little bit special but it wasn't ! Over all experience was average. The restaurant is very spacious and felt a bit like a canteen. We were the first diners in the restaurant at 6pm yet when the next 2 customers arrived they were seated right beside us, they asked for more privacy but the waitress said no as they were going to be busy later. Food was good value with the offer. It was tasty but nothing special. I probably would go back with the open table offer."

  • "Great food, lovely cocktails and drinks selection. Defo would dine here many times"

  • "I visited Mango Tree after 6 years - it still remains very good. A bit surprised by the prices, but th open table offers balanced it!"

  • "My wife' favourite cuisine for our wedding anniversary.. The tables are very close together but it did not spoil the atmosphere. It was everything I had hoped for. Even though not rated as the top Thai restaurant in London by Tom Parker-Bowles, it ticked all my boxes."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Good food and service but without discount its pricey, not sure I would pay the full price."
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "We had a nice evening at the Mango Tree. Good service, nice atmosphere and the food was absolute delicious. We took the 4 course menu (1st page of the card) and loved all different flavours of the broad variety of dishes. We visited the restaurant on the evening that Germany played against Brasil (7-1) and were happy to have the possibility to see the 2nd half of the match in de restaurant bar."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "Excellent food as always. Always a treat. Wonderful customer service."

  • "It was an enjoyable evening for the six of us who attended last Saturday The food was good and we made good used of the 25% offer available. Superb Virgin cocktails also. I will recommend Mango Tree to anyone who wants to experience fine Thai dining. Service was excellent and out waiter Michael was brilliant. I had the lobster and it was very tasty. All in all, good value for money."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "The mango Tree is a really good Thai restaurant. Super-fresh food because it is always packed and therefore turning over meals at a lick. This time absolutely first class in every way."
    dined on 03/07/2014
  • "Best thai restaurant in the Victoria area, if not London! Its great quality and with a Open Table offer makes for great value. The rack of lamb is a must! Always great service, which is hard to come by now."

  • "Had a fantastic meal with my husband at Mango Tree to mark our 1 month wedding anniversary. The service was nearly impeccable with staff (mostly) happy to help."

  • "Dinner ok - service ok - price ok. Much better Thai options available IMO -"
    dined on 01/07/2014
  • "We have enjoyed Mango Tree in the past via tje Top Table 50% off deal. On our latest visit however the service wavered between brusque to incompetent, the food from adequate (starters) to poor (main courses) and the only consistency came from the prices which were all too high. Why Ian Pengelley has chosen to lend his name to this venture is a complete mystery ."
