Diner Reviews
  • "We celebrated a 70th Birthday dinner with friends, and the restaurant was so accommodating. The food is fantastic and such good value for money. The staff are efficient, friendly and always helpful - to the point where they all sang Happy Birthday when presenting the cake to our friend. It was magical! My favourite restaurant in Chelsea."

  • "I booked a deal on opentable for two courses, a glass of wine and a coffee. While the service and food was lovely, I almost felt awkward being there with a voucher because a) the glass of wine wasn't offered to us, I had to remind them that we get a free glass of wine, and b) we saw other diners receive focaccia bread to enjoy with their meal and cookies at the end with the cheque, however, we did not receive either of those complementary items. I had gone to another restaurant with a similar deal and was treated like everyone else--no one would have known who was and wasn't using a voucher. I suggest this restaurant do the same."

  • "Always incredibly fresh, flavourful Italian food that is almost without compare. Ingredient combinations are original and unexpected, but realised with subtlety. We've been going to Manicomio for lunches and dinners since they first opened, and there has never, ever been a lapse in the quality of the food or service. Go on a sunny day and enjoy one of the best alfresco dining experiences in London - great people watching via the Duke of York Square. It's the perfect venue for a girls' post-shopping lunch and glass of wine, lunch with the family (we now take our 1 year old daughter, and she could not be more welcomed), pre/post-theatre dinner (for the Royal Court), and an outdoor, romantic summer dinner with your other half. Simply lovely!"

  • "We went there and had the lunch offer with 2 course menu. The options included met, fish and risotto and the starters had a great fish stew which was very tasty. We sat outside and the place is great for people watching, too. The service is attentive."

  • "This is a fantastic restaurant - perfect for alfresco dining outside with a true Italian buzz and lots of people watching, and the perfect winter restaurant with its warm Tuscan feel inside. Superb wine list and the food outstanding, great location. Highly recommended."

  • "Another excellent meal our request for an outside table was honoured and appreciated on such a beautiful Sunday. Perfect spot for people watching . Food was excellent as was the service. Slight mistake with the olives taken to the wrong table but not a major issue."

  • "Great spot in SW ! The food is always top quality and plenty to choose form. Very friendly and attentive service!"

  • "We eat here regularly and the service is always excellent. The managers are charming, remembering names and always check up on the tables during the course of the evening. The food is good without being overly fussy, and is good value for money. The portions are not enormous which suits us, but may be a little small for those who like more food. The terrace outside is always fun, a great 'people spotting' venue, however, personally I find inside a little dark. I really like the Organic cow ricotta and zucchini agnolotti (v) with burnt butter and the fish is always perfectly cooked. The special menu is always varied and I would say that one could always find something to suit every palate. Menu not extensive. Wines are reasonably priced."

  • "Nice ambience that's all I m going to say but the food is very bland "

  • "Ambiance (inside and out) very, very nice. Excellent location in Duke Square, but the menu let it down a little. Limited choice and bit on the expensive side overall. Happy to pay for the quality of venue but food needs to be better. Wine wasn't cold enough but they did provide a lot of ice to put this right - wine should have been cold."

  • "Delightful meal prior to visit to Chelsea Flower Show. Busy and efficient restaurant- lovely food"

  • "Had a swift lunch before the Chelsea Flower Show and it was superb.. courteous and lovely service.. wonderful food and really nice ambience to the whole occasion.. My friend was a vegetarian and they adapted a dish to ensure she was catered for specifically however she did say that there was plenty of choice already on the menu so she was extra happy with this additional service.. "

  • "We had a very pleasant lunch(we had set menu which is good value). Good service , nice presentation. Try not to sit by the bar as you get all the noise of barman shaking ice for cocktails!!"

  • "Second visit in two weeks. Very good food and excellent service. Friendly staff and no sense of being rushed despite Chelsea Flower show making it one of the busiest weeks of the year. Perfect for meeting friends for lunch. This restaurant deserves to do well."

  • "Just what we needed - was very busy which reflects in my assesments. Food was delicious - sourced from the Ginger Pig. For someone from Yorkshire it was expensive, £60 for 2 - but that is probably a reflection on London prices"

  • "I love this restaurant. The waiters are kind, courteous, friendly and efficient."

  • "I usually eat here with my mum as she comes in on the tube. manicomio always has good things on the menu (there is usually always a pasta I want) and I've never had a bad meal. I've been several times and each time we have a good lunch. The only slight downside is the service can be too slick! You do feel a little rushed - no sooner is the last mouthful in your mouth before the plate is cleared and you are being asked for dessert. I'd rather have service which is quick vs service which is too slow, so I must sound extra picky - however on the upside, if this is all I can criticise then it's no bad thing! "

  • "I took two friends for lunch. They are both foodies and they absolutely loved Manicomio. The waiters were charming and couldn't have been more helpful. We choose to sit outside and they gave us four heaters. We were the only diners sitting outside as it was quite cold and also raining but they staff were really lovely."

  • "Two of us went Saturday night booking through Open Table offering a set menu-2 courses with a glass of wine and coffee for £22/3 courses for £26. The food was absolutely delicious. The manager offered us a glass of wine after we settled at our table which we declined until we made up our mind as to what we were eating. A waiter then came and offered us a bottle of wine at a discounted price, when we declined. He then recommended we have a glass of Gavi and we accepted a large glass. What we did not realise that this wine was not included on the set menu, which is fair enough but he did not mention it. He knew we were eating off the set menu. On receiving our bill it was £12 a glass! Lovely food though. "

  • "Ate here before and it was excellent. Table booked for 2030 this time and did not have any food until well after 2100 and did not finish our second course until after 2200. I think it may just have been a bad night. I would try again."
    dined on 02/04/2014
  • "This is a better than decent restauant with above average food. It lacks the individuality of the branch in the City but a more than satisfactory atmosphere all the same. The tables are not too close together which for me is always a plus. For a decent mid-price dinner or lunch with good service I would ceratinly recommend Manicomio."
    dined on 24/03/2014
  • "I have eaten here a number of times, it really is a fantastic restaurant. Every time I go the food is great and the service is smooth and efficient. I have eaten at most of the top Italian restaurants in London, but this place is by far my favourite. Don't miss out on the foccacia and the olive oil."
    dined on 21/03/2014
  • "Very lovely food and atmosphere but tables were far too close together so there was no room for the wine holder and much as the staff were attentive, we were barely able to take a sip of wine before it was topped up. Dishes were offered to be removed before we had finished eating because we were too busy chatting between mouthfuls."
    dined on 19/03/2014
  • "A quick lunch at Manicomio with a friend was pleasant, and it was lovely to be able to sit outside in the sunshine over some wine and food. My salad was interesting and my friend's fish and the main looked even better."

  • "Warm welcome, comfortable, not too noisy, delicious food, good selection of wines and very good service. Set menu is good value - a la carte less so."

  • "We dined using the toptable offer of £22 for 2 courses plus a glass of wine and coffee. My starter of Sicilian fish soup was very tasty. But my main of gnocchi with gorgonzola was way too salty, and really let down the meal. Overall, the offer is good value, although the substitution of mint tea for coffee was charged as an extra. Also, the tables are squeezed in very close together, so not good if you want privacy."
    dined on 01/03/2014
  • "Although the food was good & represented value for money, service was abysmal. The waiter tried at every stage to force feed us the extras. He explained that we could have a small glass of red or white wine with the menu.. Sauvignon or Gamay (?). The bill started to mount up - coffee that was included in the deal could not be replaced by a tea.. an additional charge. When we received the bill, the waiter had charged us for the Sauvignon (now not in the offer)!!! I flagged this up with the waiter who proceeded to knock £10 off the bill. He returned to the table and loudly explained that he had removed the money to please us. He then tried to charge us separate amounts that added up to more than the bill total."
    dined on 19/02/2014
  • "Great food but the whole atmosphere was overbearing for a casual Sunday lunch. The waiters continuously interrupted to offer this and that either they were very bored or very poorly trained in all despite excellent food will not rush back."
    dined on 16/02/2014
  • "Manicomio is a chic Italian with the right atmosphere for a memorable evening. The Fixed price menu has many options and the food is well presented. Well worth a visit but pricey for the a la carte"
