Diner Reviews
  • "Unfortunately the starters took 25 minutes to arrive and the mains 50 minutes. On arrival the childrens sausages were still raw inside.... The manager did apologise and discounted the bill,, but it was still an expensive sunday lunch for what we had... Restaurants do have off days but this could have been handled way way better...."

  • "Steaks were excellent and good value with the toptable deal but you would never in your right mind pay the full price. Even at the half price (mains only) the total bill was not cheap as the wines and other courses are expensive."

  • "I'm a very fussy steak eater & very rarely get my steak how I like it cooked, but here it was exceptional. The staff were very friendly & couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely return some day when next visiting the city."

  • "I dined at the Marco Pierre White Kings Road Steakhouse on Sunday 16th February 2014. A warm welcome with a detailed explanation of what was on offer. The 3 course meal for £23 is incredibly good value. I asked for white flesh fish rather than the salmon/prawn fish pie and was pleasantly surprised when a grilled piece of halibut on wilted spinach arrived. Overall an excellent meal I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to my friends"

  • "left standing for 25 minutes because our table was not ready. that set the scene for the rest of the evening. Poor."

  • "Go to Sophie' steakhouse instead. It's way better."

  • "When we got to our table we were handed menus that didn't have a price on them. I realised that we had been given the wrong menu and asked the waiter to double check. He couldn't really understand what we were saying and was confused. It was incredibly embarrassing as the people at the other tables clearly thought we couldn't afford to pay for food in the restaurant! Eventually after more embarrassment he went downstairs and checked with the Manager who came back with the correct menus and explained the offer of 50% off. I most definitely won't be returning as the staff members were pretty clueless and there was no atmosphere in there."

  • "We opted for the 3 course set lunch menu and were happy with the choices (although a little surprised that main course vegetables/accompaniments were £4 extra per dish). The two starters we chose, beetroot and goats cheese salad, and slow roasted pork belly were delicious. Service was excellent and the atmosphere of the restaurant very comfortable. The wine selection was comprehensive."

  • "The food was good here and good value set menu but the restaurant is very small and cramped and decor is dated"

  • "Dined here for my son's birthday on Friday evening and took advantage of TT 50% off main course deal which was really good value. Most of us had steaks, and could not really fault at all, food was good and nicely presented. Whilst the staff were attentive and polite, they still managed to get our drinks wrong (not the first time it has happened to us at MPW) and we were over charged for one of the steaks!! Lovely dining experience overall."

  • "We were impressed with both the food and surroundings! Well done! The only thing that I would add is that for a Steak House and Grill, it did not have that many steaks or grills! But, it didn't stop us from enjoying our evening!"

  • "Overall my wife and I had a pleasant dining experience. The starters were good and a reasonable portion size. As we were ordering from the main menu, we both had the steak which was not cooked to our specification and left us a bit disappointed. The best feature of the night was the dessert. I had the chocolate brown which was rather moreish and my other half had the vanilla cheesecake."

  • "We had booked for 1030pm via top table and the booking had not made it through to the restaurant. They had just closed the kitchen when we arrived but the chef said he would reopen it for us. The staff were absolutely amazing and did not rush us even though they were clearly getting ready to go home when we arrived. We had a gorgeous meal and didn't leave until gone 12pm. Wonderful food, gracious staff, highly recommend"

  • "This is my second visit having previously been for Sunday Lunch and I found it just as good as the first time. Beautiful tasty kipper pate and my companions duck pate were equally good and the mains portion of calves liver was generous and exceptionally flavoursome whilst my game pie was tasty and succulent. Will definitely not be my last visit!"

  • "We had high expectations for this place given the Marco Pierre White brand and its chelsea location, but were very disappointed. Every dish was bland and in need of seasoning. We had the set menu, which was okay value but uninspiring. The wine was bad, and I had to ask them to open a new bottle. The chicken came with a so called 'fois gras' sauce which was gloopy and tasteless. Best part of the meal was dessert - a good sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee. Don't be fooled by the chef name on the door."

  • "I made the reservation through toptable arrived on time and the restaurant said they didn't have my reservation. They also said that toptable doesn't really consult their availability before booking. We had to wait one hour for a table. Apart from that, the food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant is really good."

  • "Surprised my girlfriend with a birthday meal out using the set menu deal. It was a great meal of steak and chips with a champagne cocktail and delicious desserts (which we shared)."

  • "Second time I have been and have really enjoyed the food. The Toptable menu is not as great as the Marco Perre white set menu as the options are limited as are the portions. We did have to wait nearly 30 mins for our table but the food was very good so all is forgiven."

  • "Took some clients here on Monday. The restaurant is well located and easy to get to. The interior and decor are cozy and nice. However the service was poor with a tone of arrogence and disinterest. The menu is limited and poor. We were kept waiting for drinks and had to ask twice. The wine came from the worst wine list Ive seen EVER. Starters were very basic and reminded me of a toby cavery. The mains of steak were better. The meat was good and well cooked but massively over priced. Dessert (Cambridge Cream) was the best Ive had but I was kept waitng so long on a glass of port I just left it. My clients were unimpressed and Im surprised MPW is happy to put his name to this. AVOID"

  • "The special Sunday lunch is excellent value with a good choice of all three courses. With traditional beef and YP or Roast Suckling pig a fish course and a vegetarian course, it more than satisfied our requirements. The food was excellent, the staff attentive and all-in-all highly recommended."

  • "We booked a table for 4 for a Sunday lunch menu. When we arrived it turned out they were out of Sunday roast. Kindly, they offered us ribeye steaks instead but then when they checked in the kitchen they were out of ribeye too. It felt a bit strange to come to a steak house that had run out of most of the meat on the menu. What we were served in the end was tasty but the overall experience was strange. Would I go back? Most likely not."

  • "This place is fine for a nice meal but struggles to offer much but the name in a city with so many good eats at the price this gets discounted to."

  • "I'm not saying that the meal was bad but that it was very underwhelming given the reputation that marco pierre white carries. The meal started good with the starters being tasty though in a smaller portion than expected when there's only 3 courses but my main was so disappointing. I had the rib-eye steak and half of it was rather juicy but the other half was not and the whole thing was just completely oversalted. At first taste it was okay but by the end I was forcing myself to finish it as it was just too salty. My partner's meal went better but it was not anything to come back for or recommend. This may just be my preference but overall the experience wasn't enjoyable, just simply okay."

  • "I have eaten at a number of Marco Pierre White restaurants and was very surprised and disappointed with the Kings Road restaurant. Having arrived to the restaurant 5minutes early we were quite rudely told to leave the restaurant and come back in 10minutes when the table was ready. The maître dee was not in the least bit accommodating and to be honest we almost didn't return for our meal. Once we did return the level of service and quality of food was very poor and not of the standards expected at a Marco Pierre White restaurant. The pork belly started was undercooked and under seasoned."

  • "I had dinner at this restaurant recently with my husband. The service was good but not outstanding and so was the ambience. Nothing wrong with the food but not outstanding.. no wow factor. Thats just my opinion."

  • "I took my fiance for lunch for his birthday and both he and I loved the meal from start to finish. I pre booked 50% off the main courses, which we chose as steak and they were superb. Excellent meal and a lovely dining experience, well recommended."
