Diner Reviews
  • "A must for people who want to try something different. The flavours were mouthwatering, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I am a great fan of Maze but probably wouldn't be able to afford to eat there as often were it not for the taster deal. It always delivers and I love the fact that you can turn the 3 course meal on it's head by having two starters or two puss. Particularly memorable we're the pea soup with lemon sorbet and the duck leg."

  • "For the price we expected it to be more exclusive.......we could have gone to a local pub to have loud music playing! We chose the taster menu but our taste buds were ruined after the first course. English Breakfast which came out in an egg on a black base. We were not told to leave the base so we started eating it (thinking it was something like black pudding in view of the name) but it was pure salt.....disgusting. We were told half way through eating it not to....a bit late and left a terrible taste for a few courses. Could have been much better........."

  • "As I'm not a local, it was great knowing that it's not too difficult to take the public transport out to reach to the restaurant although a little walking is needed."

  • "Have been to many Ramsay restaurants across the globe and whilst the food was top drawer here I found it least enjoyable meal of all. We were dashed through and not even offered a predinner dribkmdespite arriving 25 mins ahead of booking. Environment was modern but somehow sterile abd not at all intimate or in keeping with the prices. We must have had 6 different servers through the night adding to the lack of personal service. Took the chefs menu with accompanying wines which got out of sync at end of meal, again due to the multitude of different servers. Every course was dashed out then bill took forever to come. A real shame because the food itself was superb."

  • "We booked on the special deal - 4 courses & a Summer Bellini: £30, fantastic value. The food was outstanding and service was excellent. Would go again."

  • "Outstanding food, modern atmosphere but classy service"

  • "This was our first time at The Maze. From us arriving to leaving the staff were attentive to every detail and were extremely knowledgable about the food. The dining experience flowed depending on when we wanted it to, we weren't rushed through and this added to the experience. The food was presented beautifully and was most definitely the best meal we have tasted. The ambience of the restaurant was gorgeous and also added to the experience We will most definitely be returning!"

  • "I went there with a friend on their 4 course meal taster menu. The service was very good and all the waiters were able to answer any questions we had about the food."

  • "After having read raving reviews we had expected near perfection at this restaurant. We went for four course dishes + a glass of bellini. Although the food was prepared well, generally, some dishes were quite salty which killed the flavour of the dishes. The duck was tender and succulent but the green pea sauce, in my opinion, did not complement the duck at all. Some dishes are influenced by Japanese ingredient which is interesting and my partner said the beef tataki with Japanese citrus was sublime. Service were very good and the food was innovative so if the chef uses reasoning more sparingly my review could be a five star."

  • "We had 3 savoury dishes and a sweet one. The pork was delicious. Service excellent. Delicious Bellini included in the deal."

  • "Excellent service from a friendly and professional team. Made my wife's birthday memorable Great sommelier choices on the wines Food was very good and 3 choices plus desert just about right on the stomach, if not on the pocket!!"

  • "Set menu option, corporate Gordan Ramsey, how good can it be. Exceptionally good is the answer. The food was tremendous from start to finish, flawless in execution and presentation. I couldn't fault any of my food in anyway and the wine was a perfect foil for the experiance. However what makes this exceptional is the people who work here. the waiting staff were attentive, precise, never putting a foot wrong throughout service. The 3 managers who led the front of house were magnificent in everyway and made the whole occasion perfect, they couldnt be more helpful and had the prefect knack of making you feel 'this is special' without ever getting in the way. Cant recommend it any more highly and have already started to plan our return"

  • "Visited to celebrate my sister in law’s 30th birthday – it was a surprise for her, chosen as she is a big Gordon Ramsay fan, but had never been to one of his restaurants. Staff - very friendly and courteous, as it was a special occasion they made the Chef’s table available to us and we would be dinning in the kitchen itself. This is an amazing experience and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for that something special. The whole team came and chatted, all be it briefly, and the food and wine were fantastic – it’s not too often that the taste and flavour of a dish can give you Goosebumps, but it did, more than once! To experience Michelin stared food being created for you, in front of you, by some of the best in the business"

  • "The food was outstanding in every way, the service was friendly, helpful & attentive. A lovely wine waiter who gave us a wonderful wine that we had not tried before. A wonderful experience, one that I would happily repeat."

  • "Came to Maze with my girlfriend to celebrate her promotion at work. Obviously you come to a place like this, (£5.75 for a bottle of beer), it's about the service. Everyone, and I mean everyone even if they are not directly serving you, is very courteous and making sure you're happy. Anyway, we decided to go for the Chef's menu which is 7 courses! It is a tasting menu, but this was a very filling meal and could not eat any more by the end. The food was of a very high standard as you would expect. The wine list is extensive. The sommelier was useful and we found something nice, but expect anything we picked would have been very good. Would fully recommend Maze as a place to visit for a special occasion or a really good meal."

  • "I booked a table at Maze for a friend and I to celebrate her recent promotion. We were kindly offered the Chef's table and enjoyed an amazing experience in the heart of the kitchen 'buzz'. The serving sizes were just right and the food was truly delicious. Our menu choices were almost surpassed by the amuse-bouches which were both adventurous and incredibly tasty. All rounded out with delicious cocktails and perfectly complementing wines. I can't wait to return for another special occasion celebration!"

  • "My gourmet older friend and I took the OpenTable offer at £30 (which more than doubled with 2 glasses of wine and an espresso each) and had some discussion as to whether the included drink could be called a Bellini if it was made with pear. It tasted nice though. The service was excellent - efficient, not too rushed and friendly without being OTT. Our issue was with the food which was nicely presented and obviously using excellent quality ingredients - but it was sweet: the mayonnaise with the lovely crunchy asparagus had the citrus element completely masked by sweetness and even my little peas and broad beans were - sweet. Shame as it spoilt an otherwise excellent lunch. And we could hear each other!!"

  • "We had a family dinner at Maze post my MBA graduation and it was excellent. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. We were invited into the kitchen afterwards to see the team at work which pleased my family greatly as they were visiting from Australia. Overall a fabulous dining experience and the management should be thrilled with the great level of service provided by their staff."

  • "Food was absolutely yummy, staff friendly and welcoming, the service exceptional. The hostess gave us a tour of the well-organised and efficient kitchen. One drawback the wine was extremely expensive with little choice in the mid price range. Would thoroughly recommend."

  • "I Have been to Maze 3 or 4 times now, both for lunch and dinner and it never fails to impress. The surroundings are not too formal and the staff are very attentive without being intrusive. The star of the show however, is definitely the food! The clever flavour combinations are outstanding!! I can't rccomend this restaurant highly enough, especially if you take the toptable deal at only £30 for 4 courses."

  • "If you want excellent food, excellent service, great setting, go here, simple. Best in London."

  • "Arrived and the staff didnt know we were on a deal, hugely disorganised, had to remind them countless times, food was tasteless and tiny, hidden behind fancy names and arrangment on the plate. I couldnt wait to leave"

  • "Efficient and friendly waitressing staff. Loved the food. Enjoyed the iPad to select the wine. Spacious seating. Unique restaurant. Bar staff could do with smiling. Bar floor lights are blinding. Not very attentive. Would definitely go back for food."

  • "Great ambience and service, delicious food. I would recommend the set menu, just perfect for anyone who want to taste Maze's cuisine!"

  • "A small mishap with one of the dishes was handled with grace and very well."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "Service was good, attentive but not too swift. Food was wonderful - beautifully presented, so tasty and a good range of dishes available. We used the £30 for four courses offer which seemed good value given the quality of the food and the location of the restaurant. Of course our final bill was significantly more after drinks were added. Overall a lovely experience."

  • "Have eaten well at Maze before, but got a big surprise this time around. Clients arrived before me to be informed that we had been invited to the Chef's table. Did this equate to being invited to dine with the Captain? On asking the Maitre'd. "was this Gordon's idea?", back came the response "no the Chef's". Anyway whether it 'twas my name or just blind chance, the Chef's table, situated in the heart of the well-organised and efficient kitchen, was a superb location for a business lunch. A large table, closed in on three sides was ideal for both fine dining and easy conversation. The food selection ways at the usual high Ramsay standard, well presented and delicious. Great, friendly service and such a well-mannered kitchen! I'll be back."

  • "this is my second visit to Maze and i was not impressed. we had a lobster dumpling with virtually no lobster and an over-salted dashi, overcooked halibut (the one fish when overcooked is dry), langoustine replaced with a floury and overcooked prawn and never told. definately a frozen prawn and waitress was claiming it was fresh from scotland! then the wine, we orignally chose a st estephe, good heavy bodied bordeaux when the italian sommelier came and said if he could suggest something else we listened but was not convinced, he opened a bottle £10 more expensive italian red and what i find odd, it's completely the opposite, very light and not as good - if your gonna suggest something, get something similar! at least they took it back...."

  • "Went here for my fiancée's birthday. Once we'd convinced them to let us have the sushi menu without sitting at the bar, and corrected them on who's birthday it was, we had a fabulous meal for under £200. Beautiful tataki dishes and great desserts. Might try the Grill next time!"

  • "Great experience and I would highly recommend Maze . Food was different to anything I have ever tasted and I enjoyed every mouthful.. We were welcomed and it felt very relaxed. Even though we were the last in the restaurant from of the afternoon service, the hostess took us around the kitchen and presented me with a petite four with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate sauce around it. We sat and relaxed in the lounge area and took it all in. Thank-you to all the staff on Saturday 5th July 2014."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "After booking for dinner on 4th July we were told they don't Open Table offers on weekends, even though our reservation was accepted and confirmed for the special open table offer. As it was too late to get a table elsewhere we decided to stay. For the amount our bill came to we felt we could have been offered a better table even though the restaurant was busy but not what could be described as packed."

  • "The food was good, but the whole thing was a bit flash and a bit smug."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "A throughly enjoyable meal, service was first class along with the presentation and quality of the food. My only criticisum would be: the tables for 2 are far to close together. When paying for a meal of this quality I would not expect to have to squeeze into a table, also if you are unfortunate to sit next to someone that is a bit load it would spoil your evening. This is a issue that needs looking at..."

  • "The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Pleasant professional staff that couldn't be more welcoming. The service and the food beat expectations. The design of the restaurant and the bar give a warm pleasant relaxed feeling. We were definitely made to feel special, and our evening was made memorable with the whole atmosphere of nice surroundings, fantastic staff, and of course fantastic food and wine. We would strongly recommend this restaurant to any one who appreciates a top quality dining experience. 10 out of 10."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "The food was enjoyable and the fact that it was small dishes that you get to try a number of was nice. I did, however, think that the food, although good, was not as out of the ordinary as other michelin star restaurants that I have dined at. The service was good."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Overall a very good experience. Everything (save the ravioli) was very tasteful. But the major drawback of Maze is that is still missing the air of effortless performance of great restaurants. Seemed slightly pompous and trying too hard which was evident to the trained eye. Best dish we had was the mousse de foie gras. The sushi platter very good but Nobu does it slightly better. Halibut was excellent. The lobster, prawns and salmon ravioli was nothing to write home about ; better try the one cooked by Joel Robuchon at his Atelier. Bread was mediocre; needs revisiting. Wine list good and extensive but an iPad wine list not quite chic... Unfortunately they had run out of their signature dessert, the "molecular" lemon mousse."
