Diner Reviews
  • "Carom at Meza is a good option if you are in the area. The food was good and the portions small. The wait staff was a little too attentive at times and tried to move us from our table before we were finished. I think they mean well, but just don't have a great deal of service experience. It would be a cool place to grab a drink and appetisers, but I don't know if I'd go back for a meal."

  • "I attended here to celebrate my birthday. This is my 2nd time at Carom and I love it even more then I did before. All my friends were impressed. The food was cooked to perfection. I would defo recommend this restaurant. "

  • "I was extremely impressed with carom at mezzanine when I dined with my family a few says ago. Although the atmosphere was not quite family friendly (loud, noisy and dark) the food was clean, delicious and good value. The service was also very impressive as the waters were always eager to help and the manager even came to our table and asked if anything was wrong.the food was very efficient and exciting to eat."

  • "Could not have picked a better venue for a small reunion dinner, top marks all round. Friendly and attentive service, with the most suitable ambience, was topped off by an exquisite meal of authenticity. A personal favourite; the biriyani and the black dahl are not to be missed. Best Indian restaurant in London."

  • "We dined here before we went on a gin tasting tour of London, highly recommended, company called shake rattle and stir. The food was fabulous, the chef came out to talk ask us what we thought. I could not fault this place. We will definitely return. "

  • "When our waiter brought our main courses there was a disaster - the big tray it was all brought over on collapsed and half our meals fell on the floor. It was dealt with very well by staff, who were apologetic and attentive, and replaced the food very quickly. The food itself was very tasty. We ate off the set menu, but there were plenty of options that all sounded good. The only negative was that it was quite noisy in there."

  • "The food at Carom at Meza was outstanding as usual. The traveller menu is excellent value at 12.50 for two courses or 15.50 for three. We had the lamb kebab to start and it was lovely and tasty. I had the venison tikka and my partner had the chicken dish both of which were excellent and a nice portion size. For desert I had the tea pudding with shortbread biscuit and not only is it all presented in a beautifully imaginative way, but it tastes as good as it looks. My partner finished off with the carrrot Halam (sorry can't remember the spelling with fudge icecream, and that was excellent too ! We will be going back and would certainly recommend this as a first class restaurant with first class food and staff. Thanks Carom."

  • "The Gin Sizzler was simply fabulous. A great surprise and kickoff to a wonderful meal. The mango Indian ice cream was a great finish as well."

  • "Very good option for a quick Indian meal in Soho with a very vibrant ambiance. Great value too on the toptable deal"

  • "..... restaurant is huge, cavernous and when empty devoid of atmosphere. The waitresses were charming. Our starters ( sheesh kebabs àre tasty, with a small salad. For mains spicey tender chicken floated in a puddle in a sauce, that as my 8 year old son said tastes mysteriously, and overwhelmingly like mildly doctored Heinz tomato soup. This was accompanied by à tiny salad dressed in a very ordinary commercial vinaigrette and four tiny halves of oily new potato. This was a far cry from the Indian feast had been led to expect. The bill, for a pint of draft lager and a lemonade and two 12.50 menus came to à hefty 37 pounds Clever marketting, appalling value, the weirdest ' indian' good i have ever tasted."

  • "A group of 8 of us had the 2 course for £12.50 traveller menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food for the price. We ordered a couple of side dishes and poppadums to supplement the meals. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go again"

  • "I was very happy with the whole service, the food and the atmosphere at the restaurant. The food options available on the traveller menu despite being so cheap (£12.50 for 2 course meal) was great. I did not realise at the time of booking the poshness of the restaurant and of course the portion sizes reflected this, but will definitely go again. Very good value for money and great tasting food with fast and attentive service. Very impressed."

  • "I was really surprised how good the food at Carom is for the price they charge. The atmosphere is excellent and the service good, although we weren't offered dessert and were slightly rudely ordered off our table as the next seating arrived. Only slight downside is that there is a very limited choice for veggies, but what we did have was very good."
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "The service was abit shambolic. We orderd our wine before the food however our whole entire meal arrived before the wine?! This was slightly made up for by the fact the waiter bought out a lovely cheese cake for my girlfriend and sang happy birthday (i told them whilst booking it was her birthday)."
    dined on 26/03/2014
  • "The cocktails and the bar service was excellent as was the food. Carom never disappoints on the food front, always top quality and delicious authentic dishes. However, the service in the restaurant was poor... we kept having to look for a waiter to server us. We waited over 30 minutes for our order to be taken once given the menus. But don't let the service put you off, its not always like this."
    dined on 20/03/2014
  • "Really nice dishes, well priced. I went on a Saturday night, and it is a pretty loud place, with music blaring and tables of people chatting and laughing loudly. I was looking for something a bit quieter so it wasn't ideal for me, but it is a great location if you are looking for a restaurant with a good atmosphere. Really well presented food though, looked great and tasted good. I will def go back, especially with a group of friends."

  • "Excellent meal- using the travellers menu which as exceptional value and also ordering a few other things from the menu. The food was great but the privacy was the best thing- we had a booth and despite it being extremely busy it felt quite exclusive. Will go back"

  • "Overall this place is good. However, we were constantly "interrupted" by waiters and the manager coming to ask if we are ok and if we are ready to order, etc. It was a little bit too much. Other than that it is nice place to dine."

  • "I was looking for a child-friendly place in the centre of London for a family catch-up on a Friday night and decided to venture at Carom. We all loved the food which was almost as good that the one that you can get in a Michelin star without the price tag. The price a la carte is not expensive and the TT deal is brilliant. Only downside - it's a bit loud but I would definitely recommend this place."

  • "everything was good, but i suggest to advise the customer about the very spicy food on the menu when ordering"
    dined on 15/03/2014
  • "Delicious food and a beautiful restaurant, with lots of space around the table. It was nice to be in a restaurant where we weren't able to hear conversations of the table next door. I would highly recommend it. Staff were friendly, on occasion a bit too over-friendly. Thanks for a lovely meal. Kam"

  • "Another pop up .... well lets give it a try. Was nice, food ok, seemed a bit rushed, and we were done within 30 minutes. No real issues ..."

  • "The food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. And the ambience was spoilt by the poor choice of music. Overall, dissatisfied."

  • "Came here for dinner on Friday. Nice big bar area where we could lounge and drink. Lots of choice for drinks but pricey. Service was efficient. There were 7 of us and we had a nice big table for dinner. Ambience of restaurant was good but noise level was a bit high. They could do with turning the music down a notch so that people can hear each other. The manager/head waiter was very good and took our orders quickly. However after that service wasn't so good. I don't think there were enough waiting staff. Food was very good. For starters the vegetable parcels were excellent so were the squid. For mains I had the trio of kebabs and the meat was cooked perfectly. Very tender, moist and full of flavour. Good evening out."

  • "Delicious food, great customer service and the Traveller's Menu makes it value for money. Have been here twice now and will definitely come again."

  • "Authentic Indian with a modern feel. Food was delicious and service was excellent. The waiters were very attentive without being domineering and the food delivered on all levels. The atmosphere was buzzing yet the low lighting and contemporary, warm design made it feel very welcoming and cosy. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends, and will no doubt be making more visits myself!"

  • "Met up with a friend here, having not been there before, I was reserved in regard to what to expect. But I have to say the food was great and well priced, and the cocktail bar and the club downstairs had a great vibe to it. Def would go back again."
    dined on 28/02/2014
  • "We visited on a saturday evening and I have to say the service is very slow. From when we were sat at our table, it took as least 20 minutes for anyone to come and take out drinks order. The food was ok, but maybe not worth the wait. I didnt realise that the downstairs to this venue is a night club, so make sure you avoid on the weekends."

  • "Went for my boyfriends birthday dinner on Friday night. We both were really impressed by atmosphere, DJ, service and food."

  • "The best thing about this visit was the friendly welcome. Our table was in the middle of a room with no atmosphere. We were given poppadoms which were lovely, but we'd eaten them all by the time someone decided to take our drinks order. When our food arrived we started to realise that the initial poor service was a not a one-off, particularly as the couple on the table next to us made a complaint about their food and service. I ordered grilled tiger prawns to start and received shrivelled overcooked tiny prawns: not impressed. My main dish of Kerala prawn curry had the look and consistency of a tin of Heinz cream of chicken soup that had been heated and a few more sad-looking prawns dumped in the middle of it. Poor food, poor service."

  • "We had visited Carom once before, after a recommendation from a friend, and we were very much looking forward to going back. The set menu was delicious and the restaurant made sure to accommodate our dietary requirements by adjusting the menu appropriately on the night. The service was perfect and the cocktails were excellent. The sharing desert platter was a lovely idea - and possibly the best sticky toffee pudding ever...! Already looking forward to the next visit - thank you Carom!"

  • "Waiters were very attentive and friendly but the food was a bit lack lustre."

  • "We have eaten here before and the food was as good as we remembered it (although my husband commented that the black lentils were much more liquidy this time compared to last but I personally didn't notice). The service was the big let down: the waitress just didn't engage with us at all and we felt like we were an inconvenience to her. Also this time we were seated closer to the bar and this really affected the ambiance and the sound quality - we couldn't hear each other speak and sound carried from other guests who were just drinking at the bar and we therefore much rowdier than diners. Last time we were much further into the restaurant in a nice corner and could hear each other. Cuba libres were delicious though."
    dined on 21/02/2014
  • "Tigar prawns means big prawns to me. Unfortunately they didn't meet my expectation - they were small. I would pay extra for larger prawns! Enjoyed everything else! Service and starters presented well. Loved it -bar small prawns."

  • "We went for lunch at 1.30 and it was almost empty. This was a shame as it is such a large place. Service was excellent and the food was good. The lunch menu had a good range of choices and we enjoyed some interesting cocktails. My only quibble is that a vegetarian main course - spinach and paneer was described as spicy and it wasn't! pleasant enough though."

  • "Meza is a good modern Indian restaurant in the centre of town - good location and stunning decor. The tealight lounge was amazing, very good atmosphere to start the night off. The food was ok, I would have preferred slightly larger portions but the gin cocktails made up for it."
    dined on 18/02/2014
  • "The food, drinks and atmosphere was great. Service was a bit slow, but when they came over to the table it was good. After dinner the party started, and it was great fun. It's a bit loud, but the food and drinks are so good that it's okay."
