A word from Nobu - London
The menu at Nobu London, draws heavily on Matsuhisa's classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels. The resulting "new style" Japanese cuisine has become both his trademark and the foundation of his success.
/>With its own street entrance on Old Park Lane, the 150 cover restaurant includes a separate sushi bar and enjoys commanding views across Hyde Park through full-height windows. Designed with simple elegance by United Designers, the interiors make subtle use of light woods and natural stone to reflect the diverse influences of Nobu's cuisine, incorporating the purity and quality materials inherent of traditional Japanese design.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The staff were friendly and the food was delicious but the restaurant was freezing and we all had to keep our jackets on throughout the meal. We mentioned it to the waiter who said it was something to do with the Aircon. Climate control had not been an issue on previous visits to this restaurant"

  • "Food was great as per usual. Are here many times before, service was not great, was not greeted to the table well by any host of waiter. Took a long time to take order and left myself pouring my own wine everytime. Overall food - great Service - poor"

  • "It is expensive hence will not be returning every week but the food was amazing! Had the tasting menu as it is not easy to decide what to have. I could see many other diners struggling with the menu as it appeared very few experts in the field of Japanese food. It was my anniversary and not sure my wife knew what to expect but we both thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it"

  • "Ambience : Nice place, but nothing special, view on hide park or more accurately on Park Lane traffic. Food is disappointing some are just excellent and others bad or basics. Tartare with caviar, Yellow tail sashimi and black cod are amazing, beef, dessert and oily shrimp crisp were under my chinese local take away. Service perfect."

  • "A bit of a hidden gem as it has a very unassuming front and entrance. It is linked to a hotel which means there are a lot of well heeled tourists so there are a few families with kids about. One end of the restaurant has nice music playing and the other has a view of the chefs at work. I prefer the chefs at work but the music was cool. The food though was the star attraction. You can order blind or with just the advice of the staff and you will be amazed. My advice would be order as much as you can, forget the rice and just keep eating till they kick you out. It's not cheap but, it is worth it."

  • "Went to Nobu for dinner on Monday night with out of town friends as a bit of a special treat. Was decidedly underwhelmed. I have still given Nobu good scores as the food and service were very good, but just didn't somehow lift it to that 'something special' I was expecting. The sushi, tacos and tempura were all nice but nothing special. The salmon, pork belly and lobster mains were much better than the starters. The ambience was muted but ok. The décor was a bit bland. Overall it was just 'nice'. And considering the prices you pay at Nobu, I don't think I'll be back."

  • "The service was impeccable. Every single member of the waiting staff greeted us and made us feel very welcome as we walked in and our waitress was extremely polite, informative and made our whole experience fabulous. We had no idea how much food to order for the 7 of us and she guided us and gave recommendations without being pushy or over selling. The food is simply amazing, I could not fault any dish. There were lots of wows so much so that we would reorder some of the same dishes ie lobster tacos, snow crab, tempura prawns. We didn't have enough room for dessert and looking back now we are kicking ourselves as we should have tried a least a few! I will 100% be returning to Nobu. Fantastic!"

  • "The restaurant itself had more of a relaxed atmosphere than I expected from a Michelin star place in Mayfair, and it felt like we were in a canteen or typical chain restaurant. That aside, whole evening was fantastic. The menu is very confusing for first timers, but our waiter took time to explain every area for us, recommending a few dishes and the best ways to order - without him we wouldn't have ordered enough as the portions are small, even for mains. The food itself was divine, the perfect blend of taste & simplicity. Favourites were the gyoza and pork belly, but it was all A+. Whole meal (7 dishes plus dessert, 4 cocktails, sake and service) came to £284 - the food was worth it but the venue was not."

  • "My friend and I were astonished by the dull colour of the salmon sushi that we ordered, which, from my years of experience of dining in Japanese restaurant, suggests that the fish was not fresh. We were indeed very disappointed as Nobu is considered one of the top fine-dining Japanese restaurants in London offering food of excellent quality. Yet, the sushi at Nobu was even worse than the Japanese restaurants we went to in Soho even though Nobu was charging a double of their price! Really hope Nobu can improve the quality of their sushi."

  • "Incredibly noisy. European waiting staff with such strange accents that the taster menu was a surprise even after explanation. Japanese staff were completely understandable. Very overpriced mediocre wine. Food good but not outstanding. Will not go again. Maybe I am too old for this sort of place!"

  • "This was a special treat for us, we wouldn't normally splash out on such expensive fare. But it was worth it. We went for the taster menu so sampled a range of foods. My favourite was the black cod - exquisite. The miso noodle soup aside (which I'm just not keen on) everything else was delicious. Well sourced ingredients expertly put together. Service was just right. Attentive when it needed to be, left alone when not."

  • "We chose the Chefs selection which was great with a variety of sashimi and cooked foods. The service was pretty good but couldn't always hear what foods were being introduced because the environment was really noisy. Great for special occasions but perhaps not for a quiet night..."

  • "The choice of dishes is very good and they are well prepared. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The staff carefully monitors all and instantly appears at the table if you need it. Ready to recommend Nobu for a lovely lunch and/or dinner."

  • "Nobu was original about 15 years ago. Now there are better options in Japanese food, in ambience and in price. Everybody that knows food has at least heard about this place. However, inside it just feels like an upmarket dinner. The black eye cod did live up to expectations and was the best I've had in London. The rest of the food was ok - nothing amazing! Our server was really nice and did go through the menu explaining and recommending stuff. The bill was £220 for me and my fiancée. In all, we had nice time, but both agreed wouldn't go back."

  • "Recently visited for an anniversary dinner, the food was great and perfectly cooked however completely let down by the utterly shocking service. Had to remind the waiter to bring us our drinks TWICE, I got half way through my mains before my drink came. And then for the food, had to remind the waiter to bring us a missing side dish. Completely unacceptable. We went late around 10pm and restaurant was not even that busy - No excuse."

  • "I finally got to eat here as a graduation present. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating to my fussy mum and me. The food was excellent. I can still imagine the flavours in my mouth... it's all about the dish being cooked/prepared to perfect, often with the sauce as the main feature. Perhaps sauces occasionally overpowered the taste of the meat/fish/veg, but they generally worked superbly together, and always tasted fantastic. It is food that you cannot just whip up at home, which marks a worthwhile meal in our books. My mum was nervous as she doesn't like raw meats, but loved the selected cooked options. The tables were close together, a fair bit of noise and the bill was big (expected), but the food made it all worth it."

  • "The restaurant was fully packed as it was a Friday evening. I ordered the steak dine (with teriyaki sauce). The food was excellent but it took some time to arrive, much later than my friends' dishes. My friends' dishes were also excellent. The sake was very good. The cost was on the high side: more than 50 pounds per person."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "The food at Nobu was not all great. The appetizers we had were outstanding. The sushi was fresh and on par with Japanese restaurants without Michelin stars. The sizzling mixed seafood dish was mediocre, as was the dessert of chocolate molten cake with green tea ice cream. The service, however was excellent our waitress took the time to explain several dishes to us and make recommendations. Even though we enjoyed the food and ambience, the highlight of our visit was being seated close to a international TV celebrity. Nobu is a good place to go to spot celebrities."

  • "I have been to many Nobu restaurants and affiliates across the globe. As always the food here is superb and the service is exceptional. However the atmosphere is like a circus. Very loud and crowded. It is not a relaxing experience and one that takes on something of a circus quality after a while. I commend Nobu always for the attention that they give guests and the excellent sashimi and appetizer options. However, this is a restaurant only a 25-year old would love and only one who craves hearing others around screaming a top volume in order to be heard by the person sitting next to them. $200 per person for a grating evening. Don't bother to dress nicely. Everyone is in their tourist wear."

  • "I usually go to Nobu in Milan, and to Zuma in london. I loved my experience in Nobu london as well. the service was perfect. The food very good, tuna and salmon new style amazing, the tiger prawnvey good but a bit "oily" great dessert. (I don't want to be published in any way)"
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "Generally it was a good evening. Tables of 2 too close together by the window (had to move our table each time the people next to us got up to come and go). Baby tiger shrimp in creamy spicy sauce was excellent though the miso soup was very average (and in plastic bowls) and came after the other starters because it was sent to the wrong table earlier! The did remember that we were celebrating a birthday and it was an appropriately low key affair with a candle and a decorated plate. Big plus was the valet parking by the hotel downstairs!!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "The food here is great, but it's not worth the price that they charge. Japanese food is always a bit more expensive than non-Japanese food, so I expect a markup. But I think they have probably gone over the top. It's about 25% too expensive."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "I've lives in London for a year with almost daily redtaurant visits an I must say I've never been serves as well as here. The food is also outstanding and so is the ambience"

  • "First time at Nobu. It lived up to and surpassed expectations. Beautiful food and excellent service. Had a truly great evening"

  • "A great dinner experience, exceeded only by Nobu's reputation. I had expected much more from Nobu. The food was excellent, but not really any more so than at other "pretty good" Japanese restaurants I've been to, which considering the price of Nobu would be much better value."

  • "I dined at Nobu London on 07/10/14. My business dinner canceled, so I was left to dine alone. Having been to Nobu on a previous occasion, I knew the food was going to be a treat, so I didn't mind being solo. The hostess and staff were cordial when I was escorted to my table. However, my waitress seemed upset that she had to serve a single (which means a lower tip for the same work). When I asked her in a friendly way about some of the menu items, she rushed through the explanations, probably not amused that this solo diner is taking up her valuable time. My food came out quickly, and was delicious. My waitress, on the other hand, never came by to check up on me. I even had to ask twice for my 80 GBP bill. Hope she was just having a bad day."

  • "I took my Fiance to Nobu for her 30th Birthday, we heard so much about Nobu from friends and could not wait to try it out for ourselves. The food was amazing! Every dish was full of so many flavours and you just wanted to eat it over and over again. Top quality food! I would definitely highly recommend. It would of been nice to have a few more bits of each dish and we did need to order quite a few dishes to fill us up but I prefer to taste several dishes then too much of 1 dish. The drinks seemed to take a while but food was very fast once ordered. The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance and was very busy. We also got a very good service and the waiter was very friendly. I will definitely be returning to Nobu soon..."

  • "Went here for a birthday dinner and loved it! The food was amazing; presented well, and not Micheline star in portion. Good wine, cocktail, and champagne selection. Attentive and friendly staff. The restaurant itself is in a great location; be sure to ask for a table by the window overlooking the park. Even got a personalised dessert for my birthday, nice touch. Expensive, but we'll worth it."

  • "We had very high expectations given all that we had heard and read about Nobu, and it didn't dissapoint us...Almost. The food was excellent, with its mix of japanese an peruvian concepts, and the spanish waiter reccomendations where really good (Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno and the beef tataki or the Lobster ceviche being our favourites) . All that said, the restaurant was very noisy and the prices too high even for a Michelin Star (110€/pax with a glass of white wine and beer and water). Also, adding a 15% tip to the bill and not allowing to leave a different ammount by card (it's either their 15% or nothing) was really enerving. It's putting the customer in a very awkward position."

  • "So, I tried some chicken which was very nice. On the whole, the place lacks ambience for the price."

  • "Love this restaurant however this visit I felt a little disappointed. It was very busy and therefore the service was slow and often lacking. Our waiter was friendly but clearly rushed off his feet. The food tasted great as ever although very slow to come and quite a few things that we ordered never actually materialised. The black cod remains a firm favourite, the lobster salad is very good and the sushi was perfect. It was a pricey evening (as expected) but for the first time ever at Nobu I felt that the evening didn't justify the price tag. Hopefully this was just a one off as it is a favourite of ours!"

  • "Booked a few weeks ago and didn't fail to impress. Our waiter was very helpful and guided us through the menu in a very nice manner. Food was superb! We picked quite a few options and felt full without feeling stuffed. Chilli Margaritas were lovely, you must try one of these - gives a real kick Cost us about £100 per head with wine and cocktails and a dessert so, overall, we thought good value."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "The restaurant was very noisy. With the price of the meals, we expected something a bit more spectacular than what we can get from our regular Japanese hang out. It was a disappointment. Also the menu is a mess to sort through. So unorganised that we just decided to get the tasted's menu. The sushi and sashimi were good but we didn't care for the cooked meals. :("
