The menu at Nobu London, draws heavily on Matsuhisa's classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels. The resulting "new style" Japanese cuisine has become both his trademark and the foundation of his success.

  • "Recently visited for an anniversary dinner, the food was great and perfectly cooked however completely let down by the utterly shocking service. Had to remind the waiter to bring us our drinks TWICE, I got half way through my mains before my drink came. And then for the food, had to remind the waiter to bring us a missing side dish. Completely unacceptable. We went late around 10pm and restaurant was not even that busy - No excuse."

  • "I finally got to eat here as a graduation present. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating to my fussy mum and me. The food was excellent. I can still imagine the flavours in my mouth... it's all about the dish being cooked/prepared to perfect, often with the sauce as the main feature. Perhaps sauces occasionally overpowered the taste of the meat/fish/veg, but they generally worked superbly together, and always tasted fantastic. It is food that you cannot just whip up at home, which marks a worthwhile meal in our books. My mum was nervous as she doesn't like raw meats, but loved the selected cooked options. The tables were close together, a fair bit of noise and the bill was big (expected), but the food made it all worth it."

The food was excellent but it took some time to arrive, much later than my friends' dishes. My friends' dishes were also excellent. The sake was very good. The cost was on the high side: more than 50 pounds per person."

  • "The food at Nobu was not all great. The appetizers we had were outstanding. The sushi was fresh and on par with Japanese restaurants without Michelin stars. The sizzling mixed seafood dish was mediocre, as was the dessert of chocolate molten cake with green tea ice cream. The service, however was excellent our waitress took the time to explain several dishes to us and make recommendations. Even though we enjoyed the food and ambience, the highlight of our visit was being seated close to a international TV celebrity. Nobu is a good place to go to spot celebrities."

  • "I have been to many Nobu restaurants and affiliates across the globe. As always the food here is superb and the service is exceptional. However the atmosphere is like a circus. Very loud and crowded. It is not a relaxing experience and one that takes on something of a circus quality after a while. I commend Nobu always for the attention that they give guests and the excellent sashimi and appetizer options. However, this is a restaurant only a 25-year old would love and only one who craves hearing others around screaming a top volume in order to be heard by the person sitting next to them. $200 per person for a grating evening. Don't bother to dress nicely. Everyone is in their tourist wear."

  • "Generally it was a good evening. Tables of 2 too close together by the window (had to move our table each time the people next to us got up to come and go). Baby tiger shrimp in creamy spicy sauce was excellent though the miso soup was very average (and in plastic bowls) and came after the other starters because it was sent to the wrong table earlier! The did remember that we were celebrating a birthday and it was an appropriately low key affair with a candle and a decorated plate. Big plus was the valet parking by the hotel downstairs!!"

  • "The food here is great, but it's not worth the price that they charge. Japanese food is always a bit more expensive than non-Japanese food, so I expect a markup. But I think they have probably gone over the top. It's about 25% too expensive."

  • "I dined at Nobu London on 07/10/14. My business dinner canceled, so I was left to dine alone. Having been to Nobu on a previous occasion, I knew the food was going to be a treat, so I didn't mind being solo. The hostess and staff were cordial when I was escorted to my table. However, my waitress seemed upset that she had to serve a single (which means a lower tip for the same work). When I asked her in a friendly way about some of the menu items, she rushed through the explanations, probably not amused that this solo diner is taking up her valuable time. My food came out quickly, and was delicious. My waitress, on the other hand, never came by to check up on me. I even had to ask twice for my 80 GBP bill. Hope she was just having a bad day."

  • "I took my Fiance to Nobu for her 30th Birthday, we heard so much about Nobu from friends and could not wait to try it out for ourselves. The food was amazing! Every dish was full of so many flavours and you just wanted to eat it over and over again. Top quality food! I would definitely highly recommend. It would of been nice to have a few more bits of each dish and we did need to order quite a few dishes to fill us up but I prefer to taste several dishes then too much of 1 dish. The drinks seemed to take a while but food was very fast once ordered. The restaurant had a pleasant ambiance and was very busy. We also got a very good service and the waiter was very friendly. I will definitely be returning to Nobu soon..."

  • "Went here for a birthday dinner and loved it! The food was amazing; presented well, and not Micheline star in portion. Good wine, cocktail, and champagne selection. Attentive and friendly staff. The restaurant itself is in a great location; be sure to ask for a table by the window overlooking the park. Even got a personalised dessert for my birthday, nice touch. Expensive, but we'll worth it."

  • "We had very high expectations given all that we had heard and read about Nobu, and it didn't dissapoint us...Almost. The food was excellent, with its mix of japanese an peruvian concepts, and the spanish waiter reccomendations where really good (Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno and the beef tataki or the Lobster ceviche being our favourites) . All that said, the restaurant was very noisy and the prices too high even for a Michelin Star (110€/pax with a glass of white wine and beer and water). Also, adding a 15% tip to the bill and not allowing to leave a different ammount by card (it's either their 15% or nothing) was really enerving. It's putting the customer in a very awkward position."

  • "Love this restaurant however this visit I felt a little disappointed. It was very busy and therefore the service was slow and often lacking. Our waiter was friendly but clearly rushed off his feet. The food tasted great as ever although very slow to come and quite a few things that we ordered never actually materialised. The black cod remains a firm favourite, the lobster salad is very good and the sushi was perfect. It was a pricey evening (as expected) but for the first time ever at Nobu I felt that the evening didn't justify the price tag. Hopefully this was just a one off as it is a favourite of ours!"

  • "Booked a few weeks ago and didn't fail to impress. Our waiter was very helpful and guided us through the menu in a very nice manner. Food was superb! We picked quite a few options and felt full without feeling stuffed. Chilli Margaritas were lovely, you must try one of these - gives a real kick Cost us about £100 per head with wine and cocktails and a dessert so, overall, we thought good value."

  • "Despite the hype we were disappointed by our visit to Nobu Parl Lane. Two of the six dishes my wife and I shared were of a poor standard ( the dumplings simply lacked flavour and soft shell crab tasted spoiled). The other dishes were very good, especially the duck breast. One of our party declared himself as gluten intolerant and engaged the waiter in a detailed communication from th chef as to which dishes were suitable for him. Despite that, our friend suffered a gluten reaction soon after eating his meal."

  • "I think the adding a 15% tip to my bill was quite rude. Also, the sushi menu was a bit bland, I would really have expected something more exciting for a place like Nobu (and at the price paid). Overall, it was an ok experience with nice service, drinks and ambience but food that was really rather overpriced. The "chef's selection" that was the sushi menu disappointed."

  • "We had a great evening. We went for the tasting menu as it was our first time in that restaurant. It was a medley of the menu's best sellers, and up until the meat, the food was amazing. The meat, soup and desert were good, however not great. The service was fine and professional, but the waiters haven't been out of their way to make us feel special The atmosphere was all right, albeit clinical. There was no charm to it, and it gets quite noisy. All in all, I was very happy to try the restaurant, but the value for money is not necessarily worth it."

  • "I found the food to be exquisite, however the service was disappointing. We ordered 2 chicken teryaki meals but we were brought only 1 after waiting for 20 minutes for the food. When I challenged the waiter about it he just showed me what he has written on his notepad insisting that's what I have ordered and said that if I wanted the second one to be brought I had to wait for another 20 minutes. He for one second didn't admit that he may have heard wrong and that he should have confirmed the order when taking it in the first place. We decided to leave after finishing the one meal we were brought as for the prices this restaurant charges and the 15% service charge it adds to the bill I would have expected a better customer service."

  • "We both had the tasting menu which was perfect. It was varied, tasty and really excellent from start to finish. However the service was very amateur considering the price paid, adequate for a local chain cafe but not at the level of a michelin star restaurant. We were served by many different people throughout the evening some of whom appeared to be trainees. One of the dishes had been tipped during transit without a word on delivery. The first waitress didn't know the names of the cocktails on their menu so we had to order through a different waiter. They muddled through descriptions of the food. The tables were close together and therefore staff regularly bumped into my chair. We had to go to the counter to get our bill paid."

  • "I love the food at this and the Berkeley St location. but the food is always rushed. they just want to get you in and out of there as quickly as possible. Really, if you're spending £250 plus for a meal - you really want to spend more than an hour in there. We had had three courses after only 40 minutes. The first course, yellowtail sashimi (fabulous) came almost instantly. We have a trick now, where we only order our starters and wait til we finish those before ordering main courses. The sushi is amazing, wonderful fresh ingredients. The cod is gorgeous, although we had to send ours back as it was undercooked. Would still come here again, despite negative points, the food is just so good."

  • "Consistently going there since it opened in 1997. Over the last couple of times quality and size of the portions reduced and prices increased sharply. Having been there probably 100 times over the last years I think I can tell the difference. Still a good night out but Zuma has consistently improved and Nobus PL hasn't. 430 GBP for 3 bought us a great meal but value for money is low. If you don t care, thats fine then. "

  • "Took my girlfriend to Nobu for her birthday and whilst the meal was good, you expect more than just good for over £100 per head. Expected more of a wow factor but much of the food lacked flavour and the signature-dish of the miso black cod was nowhere near as good as I've experienced at similar restaurants."
