A word from Nobu - London
The menu at Nobu London, draws heavily on Matsuhisa's classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels. The resulting "new style" Japanese cuisine has become both his trademark and the foundation of his success.

With its own street entrance on Old Park Lane, the 150 cover restaurant includes a separate sushi bar and enjoys commanding views across Hyde Park through full-height windows. Designed with simple elegance by United Designers, the interiors make subtle use of light woods and natural stone to reflect the diverse influences of Nobu's cuisine, incorporating the purity and quality materials inherent of traditional Japanese design.

Great atmospheres, but priced to high for the quality of the food. The only thing on the menu that I really felt was written the purchase was the black scrod.

Nobu is my favourite Japanese in New York so I had very high expectations for Nobu London. Unfortunately the food was not exceptional and little/useless guidance was provided by staff to select the right dishes (which is what NYC does well). Staff was unpleasant (probably because we came in 30 minutes before the kitchen closed). Overpriced, considering the quality of the food and service (far from what you would expect from a Michellin restaurant).

The restaurant was buzzing with lots of loud chatting and had a relaxed feel. It was nice that this Michelin starred restaurant wasn't pretentious. We ordered the signature chef's menu which included the incredible black cod - delicious and cooked to perfection. The dish comes with a lemon for those who find the marinade too salty or sweet. The service was disappointing - however, this was isolated to just one waitress. She would try to take plates before we had finished the food. She proceeded to take the plates of half our party before the other half had finished their food. She would reach over the shoulders and arms of our friends in very awkward positions which could easily be avoided by coming in from a different side.

Some of the dishes we ordered mostly derived their taste from the vast amount of salt and other seasoning used to prepare them. The Sushis we tried turned out to be the only upside of our meal. One should expect a more carefully crafted culinary experience given the asking price. The ceiling in the dinning room is low meaning that it becomes noisy to the point where you cannot hold a conversation without constantly having to raise your voice to overcome the ambient brouhaha.

If you pay this amount of money, you want to experience a good seat, time to enjoy your dinner and a taste that blows you away. It should be luxurious and acceptional. It wasn't that for us. The seats were uncomfortable, there was a lot of noise (bad acoustics) and the courses were rushed!! The food tasted good but not something we can't taste for a lot less on price. We had a good night but it was far to expensive for what they offer!!

It's been a while since I was in Nobu - it used to be a bit special, felt very snobbish - having asked for a quiet table for an early work dinner we were shown to the table next to the access to the back kitchen (in an empty restaurant) food is good - great sushi and one of the best miso in London - yet spoiled by a rushed, unfriendly service

From the moment you enter the restaurant you get the IKEA impression and "feel", cheap cold furniture which is more suitable for an army barrack then for a "top" restaurant. Nothing but really nothing made me think to give this place a second chance not even if I get invited by someone. Overall extremely disappointing.......

You need to order a lot of food at Nobu. Firstly because the portions are pretty small, but mainly because (and I stress this) the food is excellent. We ended up with about 4-5 main course between the 2 of us, plus several starters and side dishes. Yes we were full and the food was exceptional, but it definitely cost us! So yes I recommend it, but be prepared to pay a lot to eat a lot.

It is expensive hence will not be returning every week but the food was amazing! Had the tasting menu as it is not easy to decide what to have. I could see many other diners struggling with the menu as it appeared very few experts in the field of Japanese food. It was my anniversary and not sure my wife knew what to expect but we both thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it

Ambience : Nice place, but nothing special, view on hide park or more accurately on Park Lane traffic. Food is disappointing some are just excellent and others bad or basics. Tartare with caviar, Yellow tail sashimi and black cod are amazing, beef, dessert and oily shrimp crisp were under my chinese local take away. Service perfect.

A bit of a hidden gem as it has a very unassuming front and entrance. It is linked to a hotel which means there are a lot of well heeled tourists so there are a few families with kids about. One end of the restaurant has nice music playing and the other has a view of the chefs at work. I prefer the chefs at work but the music was cool. The food though was the star attraction. You can order blind or with just the advice of the staff and you will be amazed. My advice would be order as much as you can, forget the rice and just keep eating till they kick you out. It's not cheap but, it is worth it.

Went to Nobu for dinner on Monday night with out of town friends as a bit of a special treat. Was decidedly underwhelmed. I have still given Nobu good scores as the food and service were very good, but just didn't somehow lift it to that 'something special' I was expecting. The sushi, tacos and tempura were all nice but nothing special. The salmon, pork belly and lobster mains were much better than the starters. The ambience was muted but ok. The décor was a bit bland. Overall it was just 'nice'. And considering the prices you pay at Nobu, I don't think I'll be back.

The service was impeccable. Every single member of the waiting staff greeted us and made us feel very welcome as we walked in and our waitress was extremely polite, informative and made our whole experience fabulous. We had no idea how much food to order for the 7 of us and she guided us and gave recommendations without being pushy or over selling. The food is simply amazing, I could not fault any dish. There were lots of wows so much so that we would reorder some of the same dishes ie lobster tacos, snow crab, tempura prawns. We didn't have enough room for dessert and looking back now we are kicking ourselves as we should have tried a least a few! I will 100% be returning to Nobu. Fantastic!

The restaurant itself had more of a relaxed atmosphere than I expected from a Michelin star place in Mayfair, and it felt like we were in a canteen or typical chain restaurant. That aside, whole evening was fantastic. The menu is very confusing for first timers, but our waiter took time to explain every area for us, recommending a few dishes and the best ways to order - without him we wouldn't have ordered enough as the portions are small, even for mains. The food itself was divine, the perfect blend of taste & simplicity. Favourites were the gyoza and pork belly, but it was all A+. Whole meal (7 dishes plus dessert, 4 cocktails, sake and service) came to £284 - the food was worth it but the venue was not.

My friend and I were astonished by the dull colour of the salmon sushi that we ordered, which, from my years of experience of dining in Japanese restaurant, suggests that the fish was not fresh. We were indeed very disappointed as Nobu is considered one of the top fine-dining Japanese restaurants in London offering food of excellent quality. Yet, the sushi at Nobu was even worse than the Japanese restaurants we went to in Soho even though Nobu was charging a double of their price! Really hope Nobu can improve the quality of their sushi.

This was a special treat for us, we wouldn't normally splash out on such expensive fare. But it was worth it. We went for the taster menu so sampled a range of foods. My favourite was the black cod - exquisite. The miso noodle soup aside (which I'm just not keen on) everything else was delicious. Well sourced ingredients expertly put together. Service was just right. Attentive when it needed to be, left alone when not.

Nobu was original about 15 years ago. Now there are better options in Japanese food, in ambience and in price. Everybody that knows food has at least heard about this place. However, inside it just feels like an upmarket dinner. The black eye cod did live up to expectations and was the best I've had in London. The rest of the food was ok - nothing amazing! Our server was really nice and did go through the menu explaining and recommending stuff. The bill was £220 for me and my fiancée. In all, we had nice time, but both agreed wouldn't go back.

Recently visited for an anniversary dinner, the food was great and perfectly cooked however completely let down by the utterly shocking service. Had to remind the waiter to bring us our drinks TWICE, I got half way through my mains before my drink came. And then for the food, had to remind the waiter to bring us a missing side dish. Completely unacceptable. We went late around 10pm and restaurant was not even that busy - No excuse.

I finally got to eat here as a graduation present. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating to my fussy mum and me. The food was excellent. I can still imagine the flavours in my mouth... it's all about the dish being cooked/prepared to perfect, often with the sauce as the main feature. Perhaps sauces occasionally overpowered the taste of the meat/fish/veg, but they generally worked superbly together, and always tasted fantastic. It is food that you cannot just whip up at home, which marks a worthwhile meal in our books. My mum was nervous as she doesn't like raw meats, but loved the selected cooked options. The tables were close together, a fair bit of noise and the bill was big (expected), but the food made it all worth it.

The restaurant was fully packed as it was a Friday evening. I ordered the steak dine (with teriyaki sauce). The food at Nobu was not all great. The appetizers we had were outstanding. The sushi was fresh and on par with Japanese restaurants without Michelin stars. The sizzling mixed seafood dish was mediocre, as was the dessert of chocolate molten cake with green tea ice cream. The service, however was excellent our waitress took the time to explain several dishes to us and make recommendations. Even though we enjoyed the food and ambience, the highlight of our visit was being seated close to a international TV celebrity. Nobu is a good place to go to spot celebrities.

I have been to many Nobu restaurants and affiliates across the globe. As always the food here is superb and the service is exceptional. However the atmosphere is like a circus. Very loud and crowded. It is not a relaxing experience and one that takes on something of a circus quality after a while. I commend Nobu always for the attention that they give guests and the excellent sashimi and appetizer options. However, this is a restaurant only a 25-year old would love and only one who craves hearing others around screaming a top volume in order to be heard by the person sitting next to them. $200 per person for a grating evening. Don't bother to dress nicely. Everyone is in their tourist wear.

Generally it was a good evening. Tables of 2 too close together by the window (had to move our table each time the people next to us got up to come and go). Baby tiger shrimp in creamy spicy sauce was excellent though the miso soup was very average (and in plastic bowls) and came after the other starters because it was sent to the wrong table earlier! The did remember that we were celebrating a birthday and it was an appropriately low key affair with a candle and a decorated plate. Big plus was the valet parking by the hotel downstairs!!
