Diner Reviews
  • "We went for dinner, with my 9 year old in tow. After reading "the New Yorker" bit about chef Ottolenghi and buying (and using) both of his cookbooks, I was elated to have such a wonderful meal! Everything was wonderful."
    dined on 29/07/2014
  • "I'm a huge fan of Ottolenghi's other restaurants so was very excited to be eating here as a 30th treat. The food didn't disappoint (though considering the considerable price difference, I think the food at his other restaurants is similarly delicious) and the place itself had a fantastic atmosphere (definitely felt more special than his other places). The whole experience was let down a little by the service - whilst it was polite, we did have to flag waiters down a few times to order and pay the bill and our wine glass wasn't topped up very promptly (not sure if we actually finished the bottle in the two hours we were there). However, we still had a lovely time and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a special night out."

  • "Both myself and my partner enjoyed the meal very much. However subsequently both of us were ill and we have been fobbed off by the restaurant who do not accept any responsibility."

  • "Beautifully presented food packed with flavour. Nice size portions - we ordered several plates from the sharing menu. Deserts were heavenly especially the dark chocolate and orange. My most favourite dish was the aubergine starter which was phenomenal."

  • "We were sat at the front of the restaurant by the window which meant we were away from the buzz of the main seating area and were regularly left for 15-20 minutes without any service. We ended up leaving after our main course because after 20 minutes no one had come to take our dessert order, despite there being plenty of staff milling around. It lacked a personal feel but I could see that further inside the restaurant was more 'buzzy'. The food was very good and some delicious, unusual flavours - our favourites were the courgette fritters, grey Mullet & polenta chips. We asked for more aioli for the chips but never received that. For the price I wouldn't say it's that good value and I won't be returning in a hurry"

  • "came all the way from australia to enjoy the incredible food - pity about the attitude of the maitre d' whose attitude leaves a lot to be desired. lt left a bad taste in my mouth after what was an outstanding meal. a real pity as it spoilt the dining experience"

  • "I have all Ottolenghi's cookbooks and tried lots of recipes. His in-vivo cooking did not disappoint. A revelation of tastes."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "After reading all the rave reviews and also personal recommendations from family and friends, I must say Nopi was our worst restaurant experience in London. The food did not live up to its reputation, the wine recommendation given was aweful and to top it up we were told that the kitchen is closed when we wanted to order the main course. We were not even informed of last orders. I actually started calling other restaurants to see if we could go to since we only had starters. Sorry Nopi I will not come back nor recommend you to friends."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "We were really excited to eat here. Starters and side dishes were amazing. Good wine list. Buzzy atmosphere with good, relaxed but attentive service. Mains were a bit disappointing. If we go again we'd just order a feast from the starters menu."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "I was heading home to Australia the day after my lunch at Nopi, my lunch date cancelled on me at the last minute, but there was no way I was going to miss out. The service was impeccable, the food sublime and the selection of wines perfectly suitable to the variety of dishes on the menu. I had scallops for starters, baby chicken for mains with beef heart tomato salad, and of course chocolate mousse with the most amazing orange oil. I was completely taken by the harmony between the textures and flavours, not to mention the colours. Although this lunch was on a pricey side, it was very much worth it. I absolutely loved it!"

  • "We' ve owned the Jerusalem cookbook for several years and so had high expectations of this restaurant. They exceeded those expectations by focusing on every little detail, from the look of the restaurant to the visual presentation of the food to the extraordinary taste."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Refreshingly different menu. Some great flavour combinations."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "We were a group pf 4 and took every sharing plate, which proved to be too much. Delish food and a nice buzzy vibe."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Lovely food, friendly and efficient waiting staff. Great location."

  • "Having originally discounted Nopi on grounds of expense I was drooling over their menu when I saw that they offered a pre theatre menu at £21.50. My friend and I (both big Ottolenghi fans) opted for this and were not only bowled over by the quality of the food (a given at Ottolenghi) but by the amazing value. We shared 3 starter style dishes and 2 (small) main style dishes. All were cooked to perfection and had the wow factor. It was impossible to turn down desert (not part of the deal) and this also did not disappoint. I shall be heading back there at any opportunity. A really special restaurant."

  • "We found the atmosphere nice. We had two sorts of fish which were perfect and the eggplant-side dish was really good, too. The side dish of green salad with vinegar dressing was way too sour and contained yellow leaves that didn't seem to be fresh any more. The glass of white wine (Green Veltliner) was excellent, the price of more than 10 pounds for a small glass exorbitant though. We have been to the Near East several times and enjoyed its food. That's why we bought your Jerusalem book of recipes, several of which we have enjoyed ever since. We were irritated by the fact that none of the dishes at the Nopi except the eggplant-dish resembled any of the Near East tradition. All in all: Very good service, nice atmosphere, too expensive."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "The service from everyone was outstanding, apart from one waiter who was a bit sloppy with the wine, and seemed in a rush to serve us. The Maitre'd here is second to none. Both times we have been he had treated us with exceptional attention and service. For that reason alone we would return. The food is fantastic, even though both times we ate at the end of service. Will definitely return. One small point, there were a few fruitflys around our table, unavoidable in some cases Im sure, but the restuarant should be aware."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "I took my Wife here for her Birthday as she loves to eat Tapas style .... The food was GREAT; every dish was mouth-wateringly flavoursome and we couldn't pick a favourite. A great atmosphere too....This place has just jumped into my top 5 of all time only just behind some top-end Michelin star restaurants! Cannot recommend it enough...."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Returned with my fiancée for lunch a few weeks after an amazing business dinner... We thoroughly enjoyed the culinary experience along with the superb and polite staff/service... Matter of fact, we are looking to purchase Yotam's cookbooks to repeat some of his fabulous cooking at home. We will no doubt return, recommend to friends and family. Thanks for making eating out in London enjoyable again! We absolutely loved it!!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Yes, definitely fit for foodies. Beautifully prepared, cooked and presented. Nopi menu is bursting with great flavours and textures. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgable and enthusiastic. He recommended an extra dish for us... The cheesecake .. (Not a dessert)..and it was truly delicious. If I lived in London, this would definitely be on my go-to list!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We shared all 7 vegetable dishes for a tapas like experience. All unusual and delicious. We really appreciated the staff running after us because we forgot a package and scarf when we left. Nice!"
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "Very delicious and inspiring, but exceedingly expensive for what you get."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "had been for dinner, breakfast was equally amazing."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "I love Ottolenghi's "Jerusalem" book and use it often, and we enjoyed Ottolenghi restaurant. But Nopi did not live up to our expectations. The starters were very good - I had scallops with pork belly, and there was a very good courgette fritter. The mains were dull. Probably the most disappointing thing was the wine -anything under £80 wasn't very good, and the next tier started at £120. On the whole expensive and not that great."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "I think it's like Marmite, you will love it or hate it. The 3 or us all loved it but I can see how some would not. Amazing strong flavours, taking the cook book Jerusalam one step on. Good quick service, noisy (so not good if you have poor hearing), probably best for lunch, for which it is great."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "Delicious meal proving why I love Ottalenghi so much. I will definitely be back!"
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "Ottogenghi's followers know to expect something special at his restaurants: it almost doesn't matter what. You go and order what looks interesting that day, especially from the sideboard items. The minimalist, modern atmosphere compliments the complexity of the food. Not stuffy. You need a reservation, but you can come relaxed and ready to enjoy a nice experience."
    dined on 17/07/2014
  • "We enjoyed our time at Nopi thoroughly, and the food as ever was gorgeous. But when the bill came, there was still that feeling that we were being ever so slightly taken advantage of."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "We had an excellent diner at Nopi. I love the original dishes on the menu. All ingrediënts are fresh, and of very good quality. Everything we tried tasted very surprising and very good. The only thing I think is a little less good, is the fact that they allow you two hours at the restaurant, then they want to use the table again. It's enough time to have dinner, but it's the idea of hospitality."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "There are plenty of raves about the food already, so I won't dwell on that (it was awesome). But one somewhat left-field compliment: the sound levels in the restaurant were kept at reasonable levels. So many places (Polpo, the original Caravan) are borderline deafening- I know this is a design choice to make a place seem lively, but it is so often taken too far. Kudos to Nopi for striking a better balance."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Delicious salads, interesting food combinations, scallops and pork amazing, great service, good recommendations by waiter. Wanted to try more, but was full."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Much like a busy chain restaurant where you get the food, you get exactly what you ordered but the service was impersonal and cold. Having put down in the reservation that I was Gluten intolerant, I was surprised that I was being offered freshly baked bread and olive oil and when I politely stated that I could not eat it, they came back with a plate of rock hard beetroot cut into two halves with a few tiny radishes on the side. The waiting staff barely took notice of us and there was no warmth, personalisation, understanding the customer. I asked them what was the concept of the salad bar, are these the same salads in the menu? If you are busy that you can't explain, put a tent card on the table! Vegetarian options, very limited!"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "My first visit to NOPI was an eye opener and I quickly became fan of Ottolenghi's cooking. My second visit was more enjoyable since I understood the menu better and selected things I might not make at home. Overall a great meal (lunch) except I thought the beetroot was a little undercooked. Will go back!"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "The food was good (though I've had better for lower prices) and the general service was too, during the meal. What Left a bit of a sour taste was that despite not having had starters or desserts (ie we didn't take that long over lunch) we were presented with the bill and rushed off the table as we were drinking our coffees. Given the prices they charge, it left a bit of a sour taste and felt like something of a money grabbing exercise."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Lovely central venue. Good ambience. Imaginative menu and a chance to enjoy Ottolenghi cuisine under relaxed conditions. Very good well thought out wine list but no real "cheap" wines. Service was prompt, attentive but unobtrusive. Food with a starter and nibbles was about £140 for 4. Good for a special occasion with my adult children"
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "This was a special treat for my partner and I and much more that we normally spend on a meal, hence my mark of 4 stars for value for money. The whole experience was excellent, friendly, knowledgable and helpful staff, nice restaurant and beautiful, interesting food. We shall try and go again when we can afford it."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "I am a die hard Ottolenghi fan. I own all 3 of his cook books and even had lunch at the Notting Hill Cafe the day of this dinner. In short the food lacked flavour and was a poor comparison to what is on offer at a much fairer price in the cafés. I was expecting a relaxed ambiance but the tables are tiled and it feels more like a busy pub on Friday night. The waiter rushed us through perfunctorily."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "I took my girlfriend out for her birthday as she told me she enjoyed the Cookbook. Not knowing anything of Ottolenghi prior to the evening, I was more anxious of the price.... I was thoroughly in love with his food by the time we left. As you walk in the front door, you are presented with the vibrant colours of the salads displayed ready for eager customers. We chose a beautiful white wine to go with our tapas-style meal; the Courgette and manouri fritters were out of this world, valezon cheesecake was incredible. Then the meat dishes: the scallops were divine and the Mullet was succulent. The sauces were so flavoursome, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who has an interest in flavour combinations. Thankyou NOPI."

  • "Very interesting, healthy and tasty food. A lot of flavours. We went for 6 small dishes to share which was more than enough for 2. Very friendly sommelier who gave good advice and let us try several wines. We had to wait for our table in spite of having booked ahead but that was the only small inconvenience. All the rest went great. I even bought the book the day after to get to try this great food at home."
