Diner Reviews
  • "A warm, relaxed atmosphere, with excellent and personable service is the right place to be served dish after dish of beautifully flavoured and perfectly cooked food."
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "It wasn't brilliant and it was't bad. It was just OK. The food was all a bit bland really (courgette fritters were good). I was expecting a bit more to be honest. House red was very good. Service was polished."

  • "Having dinner at a place with an owner that is so well known creates expectancies, and we weren't disappointed. The food was of excellent quality, interesting and tickling our tastebuds! Attentive and friendly service. Would definitely go again if I wouldn't live in Amsterdam."

  • "From the moment we walked through the door we felt most welcome. The choice on the menu is great and to have the smaller sharing dishes is really good as you get to taste a lot of different dishes. Unfamiliar wine list however the informative server steered us in the right direction. The place was buzzy and friendly. We travelled from Dublin to go to this restaurant and we shall be back. Amazing!!!"

  • "Food is .....simply delicious, flavors and presentation wonderful. Wonderful culinary experience."

  • "Just delightful in every way - a real treat and the service was very good, but them if you treat the people who are serving you with warmth and a smile they usually respond well - there is just no need for rudeness even if you are paying for top quality - in my opinion those who have a bad experience with service are usually unpleasant people themselves!"

  • "Superb and unusual food marks NOPI out as a place worth visiting. The food justifies the size of the bill, but it must be said that prices are way below other 'top notch' celebrity chef restaurants. I can't praise the food enough. Staff were friendly and very efficient too. I shall be returning."

  • "We came to Nopi on recommendations from our family.the staff are charming, polite and all very well trained. Our waiter explained fully how it worked and made suggestions. We were 3people and shared 3starter dishes and had 3main courses.Thecwaiter suggested some side dishes which we had but were not necessary.the food was very good, nicely presented and great tastes of all the different flavours.I wouldn't go again as the style of food is not really my taste but my son thought it was wonderful and he will definitely return.A really nice evening. ."

  • "We just love this restaurant. It is hard to figure out how the kitchen is able to so perfectly balance the many flavors in each dish. The small plate vegetable dishaes are my favorites especially the squash and the pepper dishes. Can't wait to eat there again"

  • "We came to NOPI as part of my birthday night out on the town. We were not disappointed. I'd been to NOPI before and sat downstairs, not a bad experience but I knew that this time I wanted to be upstairs and this request was granted so I was well pleased. Our waiter couldn't have been more helpful and charming. We chose 5 starters between us instead of main courses which worked out exactly right. The dishes were brought to us in stages which was nice. We were recommended to order 6 but that would have been too much for us - maybe others with bigger appetites could have managed 6 between them. Everyone of the dishes was a delight - hard to say which one we liked best. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back!"

  • "Nopi's mediterranean influence is very clear from the moment you enter the restaurant. An explosion of mediterranean colors are waiting for you in the antipasti sideboard. The food is delicious, being the vegetarian option ' Melanzane al melograno e feta' or the Fish/Meat dishes. I had a Sea Bass on a bed of Fennel which was simply Amazing! They reworked the branding, I like the O as NOPI brand identiy. Alos the service has significantly improved from last time I was there. Well done Ottolenghi! Price is what it is in central London. In any other mediterranean venue it would cost 30% less."

  • "Well executed food. Interior dark/felt in need of a refresh"
    dined on 17/08/2014
  • "Having been to Ottolenghi in Islington and loved it our expectations of Nopi were high. I booked a table for four for brunch. We were all very disappointed and the menu was boring. None of us enjoyed our food and the scrambled eggs tasted like rubber. Just to top it all off the coffee was lukewarm."

  • "Had dinner for two in the ground floor of NOPI on a Saturday evening. We were welcomed very warmly given spiced nuts and olives whilst we waited for our table, all of five minutes. The food at NOPI is quite special, so full of well balanced flavours and textures, quite a delight on both the eye and the palate. We didn't feel at all rushed in our 2 hour booking and it was great fun watching the precision that the chef prepared the cold plates in an area close to the diners. If you haven't been it is certainly a restaurant to put high on your must list."

  • "My friend and I we're greeted with 'you have 5 minutes to order before breakfast closes'. We had booked for brunch. One would think they would have told us that when we booked. My friend asked for a taster of the black rice and coconut and was given a flat out 'no - you have to order the whole dish'. And not a friendly explanation. It then took 1/2 hour for poached eggs on toast which was burnt. It then took another 20 minutes to get the bill after we'd asked for it. Will not go back. Release ignore the recommendation. Open Table site required me to select how I would recommend this restaurant. I had to choose a category even though I would not recommend it."

  • "If you look for something different, especially if you are vegetarian, here you find excellent tasty food in an unique atmosphere with excellent but discreet charming service. It is higly recommendable for all occasions!"
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "The food wonderful. The vegetarian choice outstanding. But for the carnivores the twice cooked baby chicken is a must."
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "We had wanted, for some time, to eat at Nopi, having read various newspaper articles and books on Ottolenghi's food. We chose to eat a number of sharing plates, but not all lived up to our expectations. The valid eon and hazelnut cheesecake, and courgette and manoura fritters were excellent, but the baby chicken and the aubergines average. We also felt the quantity was poor, particularly when specifically advertised as sharing dishes. We watched the barman make the cocktails as well. I have never seen so much ice at the expense of actual juice in a drink."
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "Having got used to the way in which some restaurants pressure you to be eaten and gone in an instant, it was nice to be left to take our time at NOPI. Service was excellent and the food equally so! An excellent way to have a special lunch! Well worth it. I would advise going for a range of the sharing dishes for lunch they were all amazing!"

  • "Innovative and memorable cuisine with fresh seasonal ingredients. Chic motif in great location between Oxford Circus and Picadilly Circus. Have eaten here twice and was impressed both times."
    dined on 13/08/2014
  • "Good location. Great tasting food with unusual and different food combinations and ingredients. Staff very friendly and helpful and the restaurant and facilities excellent."

  • "Every dish was perfect. Flavours wonderful. Excellent help, from waiter."

  • "My wife is a huge fan of Ottolenghi's cook books. We were very disappointed with our food experience, the service was good although in hindsight I would say we were given poor advice, suggesting we had sharing plates instead of a main course which we had indicated. The green bean salad was uncooked not even blanched and the runner beans were inedible, literally too hard to eat and enjoy. The chicken as a side dish had almost no meat, literally burnt bones. The potato dish was boring and no hint of anchovy. The basil sorbet was also unpleasant. Does Yotam actually check out the restaurant dishes on a regular basis? We would not return although would go back to Ledbury Road which has always been excellent"

  • "very good high quality food. The combination of ingredients and tastes is unusual and always tasty. Fish was cooked perfectly to the point. Highly recommended for people who like to taste new food. not to forget: fast and efficient service."
    dined on 12/08/2014
  • "Superb meal - sharing plates with one main (chicken) was more than enough food. Very good wine list and attentive service without being overbearing. Highlights - burrata, valdeon cheesecake (savoury) and scallops."
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "I've cooked numerous meals using recipes from Ottolenghi's spectacular cookbooks, and have produced food with intense, surprising, and wonderful flavor combinations. NOPI was certainly better at making the dishes look spectacular, and the flavor combinations were inspired. But the knock-your-socks-off flavor that I've come to expect from my own humble renditions of what I call Ottolenghi cuisine was muted. It seems as if they were holding back on the intensity for fear of offending less adventurous palates. If that's the case, I'd encourage the kitchen to let it fly. Service was great, and we enjoyed the meal."

  • "Great experience, lemon sole to die for. Service was exceptional"
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "Was really disappointed with this joint. It was way too expensive for what it is. We had 5 small plates with a glass of wine and the bill came up to £80 for the 2 of us. Don't think I will be going back. and the food was nothing to shout about."
    dined on 11/08/2014
  • "Really lovely food in Nopi. Was disappointed our table was not ready for us on arrival. In fact, there were no empty tables so someone was still using the table. Was told on website it was strictly 11/2 hours for lunch. Waiter took ages to take our order. However the food was very good indeed. The toilets were confusing with all the mirrors"

  • "The food was really great. The service very kind. The only thing I didn't like was the noisy arounding. But if I could, I would like to come again."

  • "Relaxed ambiance, food is excellent. However, expensive (ingredients of the dishes does not live up to the costs)."

  • "it's always top nothc experience! delicious, extraoprdinary food, great service and pleasant ambiance."

  • "Lovely Saturday lunch with usual vege options. Good service with friendly staff. vege options not as good as Islington branch and lack of starters and expensive sweets."

  • " The atmosphere was modern and beautiful. the food was ok, not great."
    dined on 09/08/2014
  • "We managed to get a late table which suited us just fine. Previous reviews mentioned the tendency of the staff to rush you through your meal for the table to go to the next seating. We arrived on time but were made to wait for quite a while as the people before us had arrived late and not left the table yet! We were offered a glass of bubbly while waiting but there was nowhere to sit which was frustrating. When we finally got our table the feast truly started! The starters were more varied and exciting than the mains but everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. We all enjoyed our meals and had a memorable evening."
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "The food was great and we appreciated the fact that the menu card was not too extensive. Really nice presentation as well as very original and excellent flavour combinations!"
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "I ate here with my two adult daughters, aged 26 and 30 yrs. We are all health and weight conscious and love food. We enjoy eating dishes from the Ottolenghi cook books but this was our first experience of the restaurant serving his food. The atmosphere is trendy and the staff are very friendly, perfect for a 'ladies lunch'. The food is a welcome change from the sugary and fatty fare a lot of restaurants are still serving. We tucked into a selection of vegetable and meat dishes all of which were carefully prepared with fresh herbs and spices. Delicious. We will be going back Note: this restaurant is not suitable for people who like their food very plain and unadorned!"

  • "At home, we use the books of Ottolenghi constantly, and our guests always love it. Basic ingredients, but special taste. We look forward to the next vegetarian book. So, we made a special birthday trip to London to come to the restaurant. The lunch we had at NOPI was outstanding. We shared from eachother plates, to enjoy the different tastes, that gave us even more variation. The cocktails were delicious. We even got the recept from the cook, who explained us how to make it at our table, that was so charming. People in London are so friendly. Greetings from Belgium"

  • "Had a lovely evening in Nopi - recommend the courgette fritters! Great athmosphere. Service was a bit lax but we were sitting in a corner so perhaps they weren't seeing us. Also the cocktails were fantastic. We couldn't eat out polenta chips though as they had a very odd taste but this is subjective. All in all a good evening and love the decor."

  • "The scallops and the see bass were excellent. The Persian rice in vine leaves was bland (we really expected much more after seeing Otolenghi's books). The tangerine sorbet was good (a nice combo with the basilic leaves and the coriander shots, but a little too sweet)."
