The view from the roof terrace is breathtaking and even though we had to dodge the occassional rain shower, the ambiance both inside and out is great. We had an attentive waiter who had taken heed of my comments that my guests were American on their first visit to Edinburgh. He made them feel very welcome and gave us a great table for viewing the sights. My salad nicoise was perfect.

Excellent, attentive service and although a short menu, could have chosen a number of dishes as they all sounded delicious. Was the most delicious duck I had eaten for ages as the fat had been rendered right down so literally just delicious crispy skin and juicy pink meat. A really lovely evening and highly recommend!

From start to finish Oloroso was a fabulous dining experience. The food was fresh, top quality and presentation and tasted wonderful. The staff were warm friendly and informative. I had the fabulous fish cakes then the turbot with prawns and washed it down with a lovely bottle of Fleurie wine. Although not cheap, it is worth every penny. On the night in particular the sun was setting and the glow spread throughout the restaurant so many people wandered out to the balcony to take in the view and the lovely evening. Although staff were also quick to pull down blinds where it might get in the eyes of diners without being prompted. As it's fairly expensive it is an ideal location for a special night out.

We were really looking forward to this as I was taking my husband out for his birthday, however it was extremely disappointing. The service was slow at times. The duck he ordered was overcooked and the panacotta was curdled. Not great when paying that much money for your meal.

Very poor levels of service with an overpriced grill menu. Only thing it has going for it is it's location. Very disappointed in Oloroso when it used to be a fabulous restaurant. Will not be returning unless it's just for a drink on the balcony.

My husband and I enjoyed an evening at Oloroso to celebrate my birthday. The food was outstanding and to accompany it, a beautiful view overlooking Edinburgh. We were there on time to see the sun setting which complimented the ambience of the restaurant. Will definitely return for another meal and recommend to my friends and family.

I really did enjoy the food which was excellently cooked, prepared and presented. Great service too with all the staff attentive but not continuously in your face. However I did find that the cost of the meals really difficult to justify, and I doubt I'll ever be going there again which is sad as I enjoyed it. But all the steaks on the Grill are well into the £35-£40 level and the cheapest bottle of white wine was £35 and there are plenty of other very fine restaurants in Edinburgh that are not charging anywhere near this amount.

We dined for our 5th Anniversary dinner, and the combination of wonderful views, friendly service and superb food made this a real treat for us. The banana-leaf baked swordfish was a particular hit - but seasoning on all the dishes was what makes Tony Singh's menus really stand out. Trying to think of an excuse to go back again....SOON!

No beef (shame in Scotland), very little use of local products but excellent setting and well cooked. There was no real innovative dishes but all were very perfectly cooked and flavousome (except chocolate ice-cream was disappointing: flat on flavour). Limited but balanced wine list.

Disappointing experience, service was really poor, we waited 20 mins for drinks after being seated and had to ask the waitress again for them (i think she had forgot to put the order in) The main meal took about 30 minutes to arrive, we ordered steaks and to be honest there was nothing special about them for the price we paid. Also a diner in our party was vegetarian the menu online was different to the actual night we went and the vegetarian options were disappointing

Olorosa is in an excellant location, the view from the restruant is fantastic. The menu does not vary greatly but this is a good a thing as the main focus is the steaks which are always first class. The quality of cooking is of a high standard and you always leave feeling that you have had a great meal. I had the haddock starter with vegtable verdeand indian spices ans it was fantastic, I would have loved more o it so maybe thin kabout this as a future main course. We had the steak for our main course ( no suprise there) as this is the main focus of the menu and as already stated was first class. No doubt we will visit again soon

Table booked for 8.15pm had to ask if our table was ready at 8.30pm before being taken to our table. Meal was very nice, however my wife is gluten free and asked if the lamb could be served with potatoes rather than couscous but was told quite sharply "not tonight", this is despite the menu stating, to speak to staff if you have any dietry requirements. For what is regarded as a fairly exclusive restaurant I would have expected a better level of service on what was not a major request. That said the meal for very nice and the general service pretty good.

The glass walls make this restaurant light and airy, and though it is modern, there is an air of romance about it. The service was efficient without being obtrusive, and the staff knew about the food and wine. A very pleasant experience. With better weather, dining on the veranda would be a great choice.

Dinner with a friend at Oloroso was enjoyable. The restaurant was comfortable and the staff very friendly and attentive. I found the atmosphere, despite the fantastic view, a little sterile. The restaurant felt a bit like a slightly industrial hotel restaurant and lost more atmosphere being situated in an office block. The food was well cooked and tasty but more rich and buttery than fresh and natural. At the end of the day, it was good but I wouldn't rush to go back.

We celebrated our birthdays at Oloroso with dinner and cocktails. The staff were very attentive and the food was outstanding. Really great flavours and decent portions. Definitely NOT just "pictures on a plate" like some fine dining establishments. Enjoyed the views from inside (it was a windy evening) and the elder flower caipirhina was delicious. House wine was c£20 per bottle - good selection. Overall the cost was more than we'd usually spend for a meal but OK for a special occasion. Only slight criticism would be we weren't offered coffee which I would have expected. Would recommend for special occasions.

Love the location and food is very good. Small service issues that let it down eg. too many covers and all the twos squashed together looking onto each other. Requested a window table and accept it is not always possible, but we were placed next to an empty window table and an acknowledgement that our request had been noted and a reason why it could not be met, would have given the impression that an attempt to satisfy the customer was there. I also was unhappy to have to pay 3% for amex, especially since the bill is presented in an amex folder. Finally I think it is wrong that the service charge amounts are given on the paying device. Service is appropriate but it should be up to the customer to determine how and what they will pay.

We chose Olorosso to celebrate a special occasion with our parents and we were not disappointed. We had a wonderful table near the window and despite the rainy weather the views are still fantastic. The food was very good. The portion size is larger than your average fine dining experience so be warned if you are a dessert person! The service was excellent overall, particularly by the sommelier. My only slight criticism was for the one waitress who served our food and served the gentlemen first. It wouldn't stop me going back though!

Welcome was good as was the service initially. Nice atmosphere with a good table by the window. Order was taken promptly and starters arrived quickly apart from one which appeared to have been forgotten. This was rectified on request. Quality of food was excellent throughout, however we did have to wait for the dessert order to be taken. Wines I felt were on the expensive side, but overall a very enjoyable experience, and I would come back again.

To be honest, I've had better food and paid less at other Edinburgh restaurants. The menu is over priced for the food that was served up - the sauce on my main course (sea bass) was far too heavy and the food was just OK. The staff didn't know anything about the wine I asked about and the service in general was lacklustre.

I booked this to celebrate a family birthday. We were allocated a good table by the window (restaurant was pretty empty) and absolutely loved the amazing views of Edinburgh. Service was ok. The waitresses were very nice but not too attentive - considering it is not cheap, you would expect a higher level of service. We had the steak which was very good but I was not blown away by it. What puzzled me the most was the menu; it just made no sense, we did not even know how to read it. I will still recommend this place if only for the great setting but they should really work on a new improved restaurant concept and stick to it.

The menu was rather limited to say the least, therefore I opted for one of the show piece burgers the Castle Rock burger. Whilst this was served with a small steak it was £55 which I was willing to pay expecting something spectacular, however when it arrived the steak was very well done despite being ordered as rare, it was served on a fancy wooden plate that was impossible to eat from without throwing food over the table and was a rather expensive disappointment as there are pubs in town serving better burgers for a tenth of the price. On a positive note the service was excellent and the views of the castle from outside were great for pre-dinner drinks, just be careful what you order.
