A word from Orrery
In London’s chic and trendy enclave of Marylebone where designer shops vie for space with smart restaurants, Orrery provides a relaxed and stylish venue for shoppers, local residents and business people alike to enjoy very high quality classic French cooking. In keeping with the relaxed charm of this historic quarter, Orrery is housed in an old stable block, the space remade into something elegant and delightful with arched windows, a glass roofed area and a lively bar next door. The Orrery restaurant roof terrace is one of London’s great outdoor dining spaces. In fact, both the bar and sunny terrace are two of London’s finest sipping and basking spots, a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the West End. The menu is traditional French with classic dishes made exciting by inventive touches. The wine list is among London’s best and most extensive, running to more than fifty pages, and the head sommelier knows his stuff. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Nice relaxed ambience. Very attentive service. Food was lovely and with extras between courses. Great cheese trolley"
    dined on 29/08/2014
  • "The seafood ravioli had always been my favourite starter before, but this time it was so way too salty which it totally not acceptable"
    dined on 26/08/2014
  • "An outstanding dining experience on Marylebone High Street, food was nice and the number of wine selections was generous too. The only down bit was the service. A waitress threw us some attitudes when we asked for help on pictures. Otherwise, all good."
    dined on 26/08/2014
  • "My first visit to Orrery, definitely will be more to come. There were 5 of us and we had a great table by one of the large windows. Wonderful ambiance, excellent service, friendly staff and food that is amazing. We had a relaxed and enjoyable evening, staff were attentive but unobtrusive. My only niggle, the wine list is terribly overpriced."

  • "My four grown up children treated me to dinner for my 70th birthday. A friend had recommended it. We all enjoyed our choices very much indeed. And it was super having the delicious little extras that were added -amusebouche, truffle chocs etc. Three chose the lamb. I chose the cod. We wanted to ask for the menus back so we could check exactly what were all the sauces, foams etc. My blackberry bavarois first class. But most of all what made the evening was the service. Always there, always polite but never intrusive. My daughter is thinking of having her 40th at Orrery."

  • "Chose this restaurant as near to Regents Park to follow matinee theatre performance. All aspects of the meal were excellent : from the drinks in the bar whilst waiting as we were a little early, through the meal the waiting staff were very attentive if a little serious at times, the food was excellent & the bill not as much as we expected. We will definitely return & bring our friends next time."
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "bank holiday saturday - lunch was surprisingly quiet - but under no pressure to be rushed - as always lovely service and quality food - ate al fresco for the first time which was more relaxed than formal dining room - possibly why it was very late when we left! apologies and thanks to lovely staff"
    dined on 23/08/2014
  • "Excellent food - through the hole Meny Gourmand, with a sucessfull switch to fish as main course. Good wine choise, quick and attentive service. A very nice evening for two on a Friday."

  • "Beautiful place, staff and food. My two friends and I had a wonderful experience."
    dined on 21/08/2014
  • "I had never been to this restaurant before and knew no one that had so was only going off the website which was beautifully presented. The glass and plants really made it feel fresh and summery. Food was exquisite, service was great and all for excellent value. This was a business lunch and we thoroughly impressed our clients! Excellent excellent venue."

  • "When we lived in Marylebone, the Orrey was always a firm favourite and pleased to say the service and quality is still the same. The food is as good as you will get anywhere in London and they made a special effort for my wife on her birthday. We shall certainly be back!!"
    dined on 19/08/2014
  • "The restaurant was beautiful, but lacked a little atmosphere in the main dining room. It was very quiet! Food was superb, however the wine list is definitely on the pricey side."
    dined on 18/08/2014
  • "The deal at the Orrery is outstanding - 3 courses plus lots of yummy extras - I particularly loved the lemon curd and lemon jelly pre-dessert! The starter of baby courgette with scrambled egg & mushroom was delicious - as was the beef! Service as always just perfect unobtrusive friendly and efficient. Can't wait to return!"
    dined on 15/08/2014
  • "Food was, not exceptional, for the price would have expected more quantity of food. Limited set menu. Service was good, attentive but not too over the top so you felt rushed. There was a baby on the table behind us that cried throughout most of the meal, which slightly ruined it as it is not a place to take children. I have a child and would never dream of taking my child there."
    dined on 14/08/2014
  • "Sensational food, service can't wait to return. Food, staff were all perfect."

  • "We had Saturday lunch before going to the Open Air Theatre. Sat on the terrace on a sunny day, so ambience was special. Food and service excellent. Would highly recommend."
    dined on 09/08/2014
  • "I loved the ambience and service was very good. Food was not as good as I expected. Apart from a truly divine choc mousse and orange sorbet desert, the main course was ok and the starter (lobster ravioli) lacked flavor and both fish and pasta were hard."
    dined on 08/08/2014
  • "I love the elegant simplicity and the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant which is the reason I frequently dine at the Orrery."
    dined on 04/08/2014
  • "The Orrery continues to be one of London's top 50 restaurants. The wine, food and ambience are those of a very modern but classic restaurant - not desperate for Michelin stars but deserving of them."
    dined on 03/08/2014
  • "We went to this restaurant on the top table deal and it was excellent value. The service was as you would expect from a top restaurant in London and the dining room had a good atmosphere. We very juch enjoyed all the food we chose and the menu was varied enough to provide a good selection."
    dined on 01/08/2014
  • "The food was amazing and the service was perfect. It was overall a fantastic experience, definitely an address I'll recommend and somewhere I'd like to go again."

    dined on 30/07/2014
  • "Perfectly positioned on Marylebone High st. I went for Sunday lunch, which was delicious. I recommend the ravioli in lobster bisque! We were lucky to be able to sit outside on the roof terrace. No good views but nice to be in open air on a very hot day.The staff were attentive but not intrusive, Yes, I would recommend this restaurant for a lovely meal with friends."
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "Arriving early we luckily sat on the stunning rooftop terrace to celebrate a 50th birthday - ambience special & intimate. Orrery were superb on all fronts, Highly commend service from all staff - considerate, patient & unobtrusive Sunday lunch set menu a wonderful selection & no one disappointed. Amuse Bouche of Artichoke soup in a glass a treat. Lobster ravioli popular & my mushroom en croute unusual but tasty starter. Mains were superb - crusted sea bass, rump of lamb, black leg chicken wi/ pork belly were all perfection. Desserts of chocolate fondant, Crėme brûlée w/ raspberry sorbet, chocolate mousse w/ orange sorbet all divine. Presentation beautiful Rounded off w/ coffees on the settees - all in all Orrery exceeded our expectations"
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "I am not sure what was going on last friday, but the staff were more engaged with their own personal issues than with the customers....all very amusing but not what I was looking for in an upmarket London restaurant. Having eaten at the Orrery many times over the years, I will not be going back, which is a shame as the food is good."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "Waiting staff was a little over zealous. We kept getting interrupted in our conversation."
    dined on 25/07/2014
  • "We booked via Opentable but this was no hindrance to the service or attention to detail we've received. It was a beautiful warm day and we were able to have a drink at their terrace (there are also tables but we hadn't booked in that area) before going back to the restaurant. Wonderful to find an elegant but relaxed and cozy ambience without any air conditioning - excellent combination! Service was very friendly and attentive. The menu for opentable appealed more to us than the a la carte menu - we looked at both options. Very French and delicious food! Wonderful experience all round and most happy to recommend and go back to!"
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "It was a warm evening and we enjoyed our dinner at the terrace of Orrery. As always, service is perfect and food delicious. The pre-theatre menu is always a winner."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "We went for lunch and were lucky to get a table on the terrace. The food was fantastic, every course was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked and the portions were generous. The lunch menu is great value but the wine is overpriced."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "This is a place that I would strongly recommend for a casual romantic dinner during the summer months if you can nab a table at the terrace. You get a feel that it is a place that's slightly under-the-radar, and definitely in a good way - it seemed to be the casual dining choice of many a discerning local. The value was incredible for this former Michelin-star restaurant, and I feel it just needs a slight push to recover it..."
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "Lovely experience. Enjoyed some nice cocktails on their roof terrace before dining, food and service were excellent, and the restaurant has a great ambience."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "65 for 5 course, good value as they used good quality food and so fresh! Each dishes presented beautifully and tasted excellent.......the staff was so happy and friendly and the service was impeccable! We had a wonderful and enjoyable night !"
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "Overall the experience was very good. My only concern/complaint is that the Maitre d' did not willingly present the fixed price menu and tried to get me to 'upgrade to the £50.00 three course menu. Only after discussion was the £30.00 menu presented and proved to be very worthwhile and much better value."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "I visited Orrery for lunch on a Sunday using the Open Table 3 courses and bellini offer. We really enjoyed the food, in particular the goat's cheese tart and the cod, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. The wine list is extensive but a bit on the pricey side - the restaurant could offer more bottles in the £25-35 range. Service was hit and miss - the girl on the front desk answered the question of whether we could sit outside with a very abrupt and rude "no" with no apology for being unable to fulfill a request made when I booked the table. The rest of the serving staff were polite although one of the servers didn't speak very good English. The service was a bit stiff and stilted, which made for a slightly stuffy ambience."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Everything about Orrery is designed to please. Beautiful surroundings, serene ambience, light, airy room with good space between tables for discussions of business or romance! Charming staff, excellent maître d and restaurant managers. Igor,s food looks beautiful and tastes divine, each dish perfectly judged - we'd be happy to eat anything on his menus. Interesting wine list, too, but could do with a few more decent selections under £30 for everyday drinking. We love Orrery and enjoy taking business and overseas guests there whenever we can. • "Food and service were very good. We sat on the terrace but it was an uncomfortably hot day which made me less hungry. Think I might have enjoyed it even more if I had chosen to sit in the air conditioned first floor. It was my second time at the restaurant. It did not disappoint but it did not make the same impact on me as the first experience. Given the heat, gazpacho was a good choice. Ravioli less so."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "We went to Orrey for lunch. We managed to get a table at the terrace, and food & service were very good. Good value for special occasions or for business. Highly recommend."

  • "A very enjoyable sunny evening on the terrace at Orrery. The service was excellent - friendly, professional and unobtrusive. The food was excellent and good value for money. The three course meal was supplemented with amuse bouche, petit fours along the way. The main course steak was perfectly cooked at medium rare."
