Diner Reviews
  • "Good food, good service (though since they add 12.5% to the bill it ought to be!) and nice environment. Very good place for pre theatre dining."

  • "Good food. Outstanding service - well paced, friendly and humorous. No hint at all that we were on a special deal. Would happily go back."

  • "Great restaurant in buzzy location near Covent Garden - I've eaten here many times and always had great food, at good value and attentive service."

  • "Good food, nice atmosphere, perfect location for a pre-theatre/cinema night out. We keep going back and the various offer they have makes this good value."

  • "Really liked this place. Went on a Monday night and there was still a good atmosphere and the food was good. Service was attentive and the price was really good with the deal."

  • "Second time here and not as good as the first. Had the reasonably prices pre theatre menu. Brie in pastry starter was burnt - would have sent it back had we not been a bit pushed for time. My pork steak was okay but the sauce was far too sweet and had been reduced to the consistency of toffee. Other choices were fine though. I will probably use the place again but with less confidence the next time."

  • "Restaurant looks nice but the food was very mediocre and very overpriced (£100+ for a 3 course meal for 2 with wine plus 1 drink!?). Food is the standard of an OK pub that's trying to raise it's game."

  • "I had a lovely meal here with my parents who were visiting us in London. It was a great central location for visitors and the restaurant was a perfect setting for a special dinner. The food selection was great, came very quickly and tasted great. The service from our waiter was particularly nice (I don't remember his name but he had a piercing in his gum at the front). Great night all round and great value for the quality food and service."

  • "We only get to london at least once a year for a weekend, and always come to palm court for Sunday lunch. Always great service and lovley meals."

  • "We had a very enjoyable afternoon tea on Saturday. The staff we excellent and the ambience, as always, is very good. My only criticism is that the selection of goodies was very good but they offered cheesecake instead of proper cakes - none of these were eaten, so it was a waste. Also they offered eaton mess, which is lovely of course, at the appropriate time, but not part of a tea package. Other than that all very good. We did have to ask for more tea, it was not automatically offered!!"

  • "Two of us were looking for a late dinner and booked the set menu. Although a limited choice all the bases were covered and we both went with the risotto which was excellent. Only downside was they had no record of us being there! Maybe an advantage for some :-)"

  • "Great service, good food and fab company. What more I could ask for?"

  • "4 of us met up for lunch and a catch up. We had the 2 course offer with Kir royal. Good choices to suit all tastes and house wine most reasonable. Staff were excellent refilled our water glasses often and friendly too, would recommend"

  • "Booked only an hour before required on recommendation by fellow traveller. Warm welcome on arrival, quiet comfortable corner table , quick attentive service , good quality food and good value with half price offer. Just what my wife and I needed pre-theatre."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "This is fast becoming one of my favourite restaurants, third time and hasn't disappointed once. The duck was soft and the dauphinoise potatoes were creamy and perfect. The banoffee pie was nice although wasn't keen on the alcohol inside, my friends chocolate tart was great though. Service was attentive, definitely will see me regularly."

  • "The menu is good and better when you are able to take advantage of the 50% of food deal. But.. The starters were fine. I ordered the summer chicken casserole containing broad beans, peas, courgette, and pesto. Sounds nice but instead it contained carrots and celery and not a pea or broad bean in sight. As someone who hates celery it wasn't my best experience. Not even a very good chicken casserole in any season. Although I did point out it was not what I ordered nothing was done except they did acknowledge it wasn't as the menu. Basically the food is ok at half price but certainly not worth anymore. We won't be going back. The waiters are trying their best."

  • "The location was fantastic for theatres around Covent Garden and note that they have a good value pre / post theatre menu. This was my first time. The cooking was OK - more like a good pub quality than wow. I ordered half chicken sunday roast with a soup starter and a baked cheesecake for dessert. It came with a Bellini and all for £20 plus service as part of a Sunday roast menu which I booked via opentable. The service was exceptionally efficient, friendly & brisk which I liked as I was solo. The atmosphere was bright & cheerful. It was good value but not fantastic cooking - at or around Cafe Rouge with good service."

  • "This restaurant is lovely. The food and the service can't be faulted. The dining experience would have got 5 stars across the board but was spoiled by the heat! We, amongst many other diners, asked for the aircon to be switched up but it seems that it either didn't work properly or it was never turned to a comfortable setting. How the staff coped is an enigma to me. It was stifling! We would definitely go again but not on a hot day! We left far earlier than we would normally have done and I even left some of my wine!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Food was adequate but not great. Great service not bad price and prompt if you in a hurry for pre theatre. Not sure I would rush to go again."

  • "Had dinner on a Friday evening. Good atmosphere without being packed out. We all felt food was of a good quality, service was attentive but not overpowering and considering on the corner of Covent Garden, good value"

  • "We ate at PCB before an evening performance at the Opera House. We both chose cured salmon with beetroot creme fraiche, followed by honey-glazed pork steak. We enjoyed both dishes as well as the overall experience. The flavour combinations were really nice and we felt that someone in the kitchen understood the food - not always the case, we have found. Small criticicisms: The salmon starter, though pleasant, was not quite as billed - more of a beetroot coloured remoulade wrapped in pieces of cured salmon. The chorizo with the pork had gone rather hard - possibly difficult to avoid, but smaller pieces might make it easier to eat."

  • "I booked this after looking at a few menus in Covent Garden. It was my partners birthday and was looking for a varied menu for a late relaxed lunch. We arrived and was greeted by a really friendly waiter who seated us and when he found out it was a birthday celebration he came back with 2 Kia Royale champagne cocktails on the house! They were amazing! We both were spoilt for choice with the menu. The tiger prawns we both had to start were cooked to perfection! I had the mussels and they were by far one of the best I've ever had! My OH had the fish and chips and he was really pleased with his! Desert came with candles which was a really personal touch! We shared a bottle of prosecco which was ice cold and delicious! Highly recommend!"

  • "We had a date night there...food was amazing...will definitely go there again!"
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "The restaurant was very busy when we visited with a pre-theatre crowd. As such service was a little slow but still attentive. For instance, our waiter let us have main and dessert as our two courses and also brought two rounds of tap water alongside our kir royales. Portions were large and tasty. The beef in my boeuf bourgignon was a little fatty but cooked so well that it didn't matter. Pudding was enormous and two courses was plenty to fill us up."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "My special dinner (Kir +3 courses) with two friends was very enjoyable, the food wasw good, though I found my Beef Bourginon a bit tough. The service was friendly and efficient as always. well worth return visits."

  • "After drink out with a friend we decided that we should have dinner made last minute booking and popped in which was not a problem. Service and food were fab!! Highly recommend!"
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "I had post theatre dinner with my wife and a business lunch in the Palm Court and both times, the food was very well cooked and presented accompanied by a very nice wine thank you. The service is unobtrusive but very good. This is not high table but it justifies what it charges with good food and wine. In the summer sit near the front of the restaurant but in the winter or in the evenings the darker interior creates a more cost atmosphere."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Friendly welcome and prompt service. Tended to be a bit too quick at times so if you are looking for a long leisurely meal maybe think again. You have a two hour time slot but our meal of three courses was over and done in 45 minutes. Food was very good and cannot fault what we had from a good menu. Wines were reasonably priced and a good selection. Overall we enjoyed our visit but what we hoped would be a nice evening dining experience was cut short which left us at a loose end. But - Hey ho that's what you get I suppose."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "We really enjoyed our pre-theatre meal at the Palm Court and wondered why we had never tried it before! We were a group of six with three generations present and all found the food to be of excellent quality. Service was also efficient and charming. Will definitely return as this restaurant offers very good value indeed."

  • "I wanted to give my niece a really nice 21st birthday meal, which meant that I needed great food, great service and just the right ambience. I struck lucky by choosing Palm Court Brassiere. I booked over the Internet and gave a written FYI that it was for a 21st birthday treat, but asked for nothing specifically special. On arrival it was quietly noted to me that they had got the message and the service throughout the meal was super friendly, super efficient and not over the top. The dessert arrived with a sparkly candle and a 3 waiter song to boot. Just the right amount of attention and the food could not be faulted. The restaurant had other clientèle but was not packed (it was a Wednesday!). Thanks to staff for a great evening!!"

  • "An extremely friendly and helpful team of waiters for whom nothing was too much trouble. We ate the sea bass which was a reasonably sized portion, both cooked and presented beautifully. The starters were also good and presented well i.e. prawn cocktail served in large scallop shells ! We will definitely be paying another visit in the near future."

  • "very good value of food and pretty nice decoration of the restaurant. Staff are super friendly. Open till midnight."
