A word from Paramount
Paramount restaurant is perched on top of London’s iconic Centre Point tower - the grade II listed high rise building at the junction of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street.

Before we start on the food, let's state the obvious – yes, the view is fabulous. Diners can admire a 360 degree view out across London and, in the champagne bar on the very top floor, enjoy the viewing gallery with floor to ceiling windows.

The restaurant specialises in sophisticated modern European cuisine and, although the members-only restriction was lifted in 2010, still has a dress code and a high society feel.

The food is a mix of classic British flavours and more adventurous twists; foie gras and duck terrine with apple and fig pastilla rubs shoulders with rib eye steak served with goose fat chips.

Opinion is divided over whether the better view is to be had during the day or the evening - perhaps the best bet is to dine at sunset for the best of both.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great view and atmosphere took my partner here for his birthday and they gave us a table by the window as I had requested. Good service although they ran out of both things we asked got on the menu and it was only 9pm! This was very disappointing. The good we had was excellent although not our first choice ! Would give it another try."

  • "We started our evening at Paramount, like most, in the bar with outstanding views over London. We had a superb evening here but it was unfortunately the bar area which let the place down - it is rather tired looking and in need of a a refurbishment. Given the (London) prices of the drinks the service too could have been a whole lot better - they probably lost a round of drinks from us because we couldn't get the girl's attention. That said, on the restaurant side, the service was very good, the waiter very helpful and attentive, and the food really was excellent - and at what we thought were very reasonable prices for what we had."

  • "The food and drinks were really nice but the building is so ugly from the outside and needs modernising inside too. Views are brilliant but the entire building is really dated and mainly for that reason I feel like it is quite overpriced. When we arrived I think we were both disappointed by the look of the buidling from the outside which is never a good way to start a dinner. I went with a friend for her birthday and we got chatting to a waiter who gave us both a free cocktail at the end of our meal which was really nice and all staff were really attentive and friendly so I can't fault the service. Just wish it was a slightly nicer setting."

  • "I took my friend here for a birthday treat and it was perfect. We had a seat by the window and just watched the view change through sunset into the evening. A great novel place that isn't always as fully booked as other viewing platform bars/restaurants."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Unfortunately I did not enjoy my meal at all. I felt the quality of the food was poor and the restaurant carried itself on the views of London alone."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Great Resturant if you want a party atmosphere, the bar is noisy and open to the Resturant which makes it hard to talk. We were a group of 6 but it was impossible for us to hear each other so we had to chat to the people nearest to us. The environment is quite hard, there are no table clothes or soft furnishings so the sound just bounces around everywhere. Basically the focus here is more trendy 'pre club' bar than up market Resturant. However the views are stunning, the service was good, the food was yummy, the lighting was good, it could be excellent if they sorted the noise issue out - or just go there when you are in the mood for a party before going clubbing. Hope that is helpful - enjoy."

  • "Paramount on top of Centre Point has a wonderful view of london. The food is better than I expected. sometimes restaurants that rely on the view can be a let down when the food arrives. This one wasn't. After eating, or instead of eating, go up one floor to a viewing gallery that runs right round the building."

  • "Perfect restaurant for an anniversary or a special event. Great staff and tasty food"

  • "Enjoyed our dinner. Service only ok food very good and nice presentation. It did get a bit noisy as most diners grouped in one area. Cannot beat the view. Amazing."

  • "Took my friends visiting from Australia to Paramount as a wedding present and they loved it. Perfect for those visiting London for the first time."

  • "Fantastic view...shame that's the only good thing in favour of the Paramount! Food very standard...service poor...very noisy atmosphere...would only ever go for drinks in future before dining elsewhere...staff attitude...am I bothered?"

  • "We visited on Sat 5th July. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and the view just wonderful. The decor was a bit tired but didn't spoil the overall experience."

  • "lovely food and service in the restaurant. The bar staff were less responsive. Waited to be served whilst they were chatting to each other. The bar above was the same. The area did not smell fresh. Stale alcohol. uninviting. not sure i would return."

  • "I booked a table for my wife's birthday. The food was great and view fantastic! Staff very helpfully. Would come again to try tea and cakes... The bar upstairs allowed you to walk round to get a full 360 view. The only slightly off putting bit was a sign warning of asbestos if you enter the stairs to the roof which was locked-off (but guess that's to be expected from a 1960s building)."

  • "I booked afternoon for my friend's birthday (as discussed when they called to confirm the booking) but was disappointed that they make no provision for birthdays. Upon arrival we were seated at a table with amazing views over the city but had to wait fifteen minutes for someone to take our drinks order. Once the champagne and afternoon tea arrived we were impressed. The food was delicious - the sandwiches very imaginative and the scones were tasty."

  • "Went to Paramount for lunch with a group of friends- I have been here before for afternoon tea & I would definitely recommend. Lunch was good- but for the money I wouldn't say spectacular. I had a brie ravioli, which was in fact quite disappointing- one piece of cheese stuffed ravioli & a medium slice of brie, a few beetroots & some salad leaves. It was rich & presented nicely, but not worth £20!! My girlfriends both had duck & said it was delicious so maybe I just chose badly. Dessert-chocolate fondant cake- was much better, service was friendly if a little slow to start with & we did have some great cocktails. Of course the view is the main draw but for me, it lacked that certain something that makes so many other restaurants special."

  • "I brought 3 friends here. All 4 of us liked the food and the opportunity to sit in the viewing gallery above."

  • "Wonderful views and fantastic food. Portions were on the small side, I ordered a portion of chips and received 6 chips, however overall I had a very enjoyable experience at Paramount. The staff were very welcoming and attentive"

  • "The paramount take on afternoon tea is great. The sandwiches were highly original, with great flavours and prepared in unusual shapes. The scones were probably the best I have ever tasted. I was less impressed by the cakes, I think every one had cream, which is a little heavy after everything else. But there was a selection of 5 all in different shapes. The champagne was tasty enough. And then aside from this, their window seats offer some of the best views in London! It was a truly great experience, and we will definitely be back!"

  • "We had a really great evening - superb staff, scrummy food and great views. I do want to go back again."

  • "Good quality food, would have liked more choice on the set menu. Staff v friendly, quality of the food ordered was very good indeed. Views are gorgeous over London."

  • "I think it is good for birthday celebration. the view is fabulous!"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Main points from our experience of dining at the Paramount: 1. For 2 people dining ask of you can have a window seat if the waiter shows you to a table that isn't next to the window. The views towards the City and the Shard are superb, and a window seat is needed to really do it justice. 2. Restaurant is a little noisy. Not easy to hear even the person opposite you. 3. Food prices are commensurate with quality and the high location, however drinks are on the expensive side. 4. The 12.5% service charge, although fairly standard, is steep when applied to the drinks that are not cheap."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "Yes, the view is great. Almost all seats benefit from that view. That goes for both the restaurant and the bar. The food was good but not great, apart from the vegetarian main dish which was really bad - room-tempered porridge rather than a fresh risotto with mushrooms, vegetables etc . Drinks were well-made (Negroni) and we got a better-than expected wine in the €40 price range. However, it was very loud inside and the service was very slow. Menus should be in hand 20 seconds after taking a seat, not 5 minutes. At least 10 minutes too long between the dishes as well. It was a very crowded Friday night, and the manpower did not seem to be able to handle that kind of load. The staff was junior but friendly."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Stunning views, very attentive and pleasant staff, great settings. The food menu on the offer was somewhat disappointing, with the only meat/poultry option being game, and the vegetarian option was a heavy risotto, so this aspect certainly let the experience down. I am sure if you were to dine off the a la carte meu it would be very different."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • ".....Shame about the food! So, after explaining not to worry about the fact the entrance looks like a derelict building and having decided that the viewing gallery could do with a lick of paint, we had some lovely cocktails and took in the view. I had asked for a table overlooking the city and the staff catered for this request - they also agreed to let me take my own birthday cake in (although they did charge me for the priveledge!). The starters were "ok" & we chose the beef / lamb mains - recommended meduim rare, which we both took - the meat was so dry it was inedible. Luckily, we had really fantastic waiter - not too "in your face", but also there when you needed help with something - He didn't charge for the mains..."

  • "To celebrate my upcoming anniversary with my girlfriend I thought it would be lovely to take her to the restaurant at Paramount, especially as it was the same place that we first met. I'd asked to be seated by the windows for some unparalleled views of London, which they were happy to accommodate, it is also worth mentioning that the service was fantastic. We were attended to at all times. My only gripe would be that the options on the Early Bird Menu were a little lacklustre and I didn't think the food was as good as I'd eaten previously. As I've said about Paramount before, the venue sells it self with stunning views of London. I would definitely recommend this for a romantic evening for drinks or dinner."

  • "Paramount is my go to restaurant when I have people from out of town visiting. The views are spectacular and the food is great. Also you can go to the viewing gallery afterwards for an unhurried 360 degree view of London which is worth the meal price alone."
    dined on 25/06/2014
  • "booked at short notice for early supper, 5.30. We were fortunate to have a table by the window and admire the stunning views. Staff were excellent, very attentive and polite. Food was delicious and well presented. Cocktails from the bar excellent and we would return."

  • "Even if the entrance to the Centre Point building not in really good shape right now and this building looks a bit old everything changes when you get in to the lift. It takes you to the amazing experience of seeing London from 32nd floor and atmosphere is incredible. I took my boyfriend here for the romantic dinner. The service was outstanding. I wrote in my reservation request to have a table close to the window and we were seated right next to the window with the view to the City of London. I choose the right time in the summer - booking for 9pm, you can see London in the light and in the dark. Food was great and service as well. Very recommend this place if you already have visited the Shard."

  • "Spectacular view. The food and service were fine. Good central London location."
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "I went to Paramount on Sunday evening with 2 friends. The views were sensational, the drink prices quite reasonable and the food was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. The live band was great but it did result in everyone (in the room) raising their voices until you couldn't hear much on your own table. Should have asked to be seated a little further away but it was good to have live music."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "I had been up to the viewing platform of Paramount once before and already knew about the incredible views, but it was my first time eating in the restaurant. We had the risotto and the veal and both meals were delicious. Especially the veal, which was justifiably recommended by our waiter. The starters were also very tasty (foie gras and lobster) but personally I would have liked the portions for these to be a bit bigger for the price you pay, although this was totally in line with typical fine dining (the presentation was very elegant). The only downfall was that the World Cup was playing on a giant screen when we arrived at 6.45pm but we sat far away so wasn't too bad. And then the live music started at 7pm, which was much classier."

  • "Absolutely beautiful restaurant with incredible views over London. Great food and service to match. Was very very impressed indeed."

  • "We dined at 8, after a Matinee show. We did request a window seat when we booked. Although we weren't by the window, you can't miss the outstanding view of London. The food was amazing, presentation, taste and portion size. The Duck Fat fried Chips were to die for! The staff were charming and attentive throughout. Will definitely go back even at £75 per head 😃"
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "The views here really are amazing, the best in London, better than the Shard and Tower 42. The restaurant itself is nicely laid out and most tables have great views. The downside on this visit was that they were showing the England match and so it was a bit like eating dinner in a rowdy pub. The service started well, but then the staff were very slow to come back. They spent a lot time "subtly" watching the football! They were also not that knowledgeable about the menu - they didn't know what sorbets they had, and didn't offer to find out. The food was OK, but less nice than I was expecting. The beef carpaccio was fairly bland; the wood pigeon and roast pumpkin overcooked. The views do make up for a lot of other failings though!"

  • "Went for daughters 16th. great views and viewing gallery. Fine dining. good friendly service with recommendations on food and wine. memorable. only non discript thing the downstairs entrance underwhlems."
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "Staff very rude, and un-accomodating Told vegetarian was not an option and must be ordered 24 hours in advance, despite this being on the menu with no such disclaimers Tatty, run-down decor Toilets dirty Would not recommend"
    dined on 15/06/2014
  • "Second visit to Paramount. Food and service were outstanding as they had been previously and the ambience and stunning views made it extra special. The only 'constructive criticism' to offer would be there was a fairly substantial hold up downstairs whilst waiting for the lift and we were kept outside for over ten minutes. If the weather has been cold this may well have been a bigger issue. Finally it would be good to see some better value wines on the list as currently the cheapest is over £30. Otherwise absolutely excellent. Keep up the good work and I look forward to my next visit!"
    dined on 14/06/2014
  • "The food and drinks were good, but over priced for what it was, your paying for the location which at 32 floors up has a lovely view, if you manage to get a window seat like we did! The cocktails weren't great, i've had better"
