A word from Patara - Soho
One of a family of worldwide restaurants, London’s Patara restaurant brings sophisticated Thai dining to Soho’s Greek Street. Tastefully decorated with plenty of atmosphere thanks to subdued lighting, huge pots of orchids, flickering candles, silk-covered banquettes and Thai figurines inlaid with glass mosaic tiles, it’s ideal for a romantic dinner for two. The Patara kitchen is ambitious, producing excellent creations of classic Thai cuisine like tom yum goong soup; beef with green curry and;, of course, pad Thai noodles. The service is renowned for its excellence and the wine list begins at a reasonably-priced level. Someone in the kitchen has an eye for beauty, too, because at Patara restaurant each dish is exquisitely arranged to delight your eye as well as your palate. Patara Thai restaurant is a haven from Soho’s scruffiness; a glamorous, romantic, authentic, professional spot for an excellent dining experience. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "First time at the restaurant on recommendation of others. First, the bar area is lovely - very stylish and chilled - a real haven from the bustle of Soho outside. Second, the service is wonderful - really friendly and nothing too much trouble. But the main thing is the food - the nicest thai we have ever eaten...traditional yet stylish, and full of flavour."

  • "Leisurely pace of service allowed us to savour the delicious tastes slowly in an attractive and soothing environment with reasonable acoustics. Recommended."

  • "We ordered the lobster pad Thai and lamb shank red curry. Both dishes were set with great presentation and tasted as good as they looked. The lamb was tender enough to just fall off the bone. As we were watching a show straight after I was impressed by the speediness of serving the food. The ambience and decor added to the experience of dining at Patara. I will definitely return again."

  • "My friends and I visited Patara Soho on Thursday. It is near several theaters and opposite Miss Saigon. The food was tasty. The level of spicy could be adjusted according to our preference. The service staff was attentive and welcoming. we enjoyed the evening."

  • "food was decent although the steamed dumplings were slightly soggy. They didnt have my first two choices of wine which i thought was pretty poor to be honest. The cocktails were ok if not a little pricey. Their interpretation of a long island ice tea (thai style) was truly awful - why mess around with a classic when its even advertised as a classic cocktail! Service was ok, if not a little hap-hazard. Waited about 5 mins for the last starter out of our table of 6 to turn up when they've should've all arrived at the same time. One of the waitresses had pretty poor english although it could also have been because there was a loud 30th birthday party on the table next door."

  • "Delicious food every time; Patara never disappoints me! The portions are certainly adequate and there is a plethora of tasty items to choose from. Vegetable side dishes are unjustifiably expensive (£9) but other than that, I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. I have also been to the Beauchamp Place branch which is equally as good."

  • "I have eaten at Patara on Maddox St several times and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would check out the sister restaurant on Greek St. I wasn't disappointed, it was fab. The menu hasn't changed much - but it's a great one! Staff were lovely. Try the mango & chilli cocktail, it's a real kickstart to your meal! The food was great, special mention for the tofu curry - think thick slices of tofu which feel really substantial and meaty!"

  • "We enjoyed our meal and thought the service was good. Our bill was £90 including 2 bottles of wine so not unreasonable for London. Surprisingly early closing kitchen though for after dinner theatre meals at 10-30pm considering the theatres pour out about 10-20pm, giving us little time to order so we felt rushed."

  • "We have eaten probably 20 times at the other London branches of this chain. It's normally a high quality experience from start to finish. We tried the soho branch as we were going to Ronnie Scott's. The service was friendly and very efficient, bit the food (although presented well) was bland and nothing like the fresh vibrant standard of the other branches. It had the feel of fast food dining, which for a bill of £85 was not what was required. Really really disappointing start to our evening. Not for those who like authentic Thai food."

  • "Really nice restaurant great atmosphere great service and really great food. Would recommend."

  • "Good wasn't to my liking? Coconut soup was very heavy and rich with chicken pieces to big to eat in a soup. Main course (chicken skewers) came up cold, which really put me off so sent back. Must say service over all was great tho."

  • "We were three adults: a couple with a grown up son. We had the special offer with a glas of prosecco/ Bellini and a three courses meal for 22.50 £. We chose a selection of them so to share: we enjoyed all of them. The service was good and the bilance cost and quality perfect."

  • "I am a self confessed thai food snob -been to PLENTY of thai restaurant around the country and thought @siam was amazing in soho ...but what that place lacks in glam factor Patara Soho does by the bucket loads.Amazing venue. My green thai curry was a bit tooo creamy and rich for me though and i've had better but was still lovely. The Veg dim sum though BLEW me away - delicious really it was and you get 6 pieces - most restaurants you only get 3! Even my meat eating hubbie loved the purple flower dumpling (the best). Bit pricey but you pay for the area/decor/service. It was packed my 8.30pm. The veg soup was okay - they did not have the traditional Tom Yam like iv'e had in other restaurants which was my i ordered a second starter."

  • "Forgot that the portions were on the small side for the price but the food overall good and beautifully presented. A little too enthusiastic in topping up the wine but low pressure service and good ambience. will go back."

  • "The friendly manner of the staff on arrival was continued throughout the meal. The service was exceptionally good ,the waiting staff were attentive without being obtrusive . We were helped with our ordering of our meals (as we have dietary allergies) and the choices were all tremendous . The food arrived reasonably promptly (allowing for fresh preparation) and was full of wonderful flavours . We ordered a number of dishes to satisfy us and all mixed the dishes which more than lived up to our expectations. The staff were correct with their estimation of the quantities ,and although we finished everything we could not have eaten any more. A memorable meal which we will definitely repeat in the near future."

  • "Best lychee Martini's and their signature cocktail made Novikovs cocktails taste watery. The food was flavoursome & devine. The fillet steak was tender. Thoroughly recommended"

  • "This is an accomplished up-market Thai restaurant. Point in its favour that there is a whole page in the menu devoted to vegetarian dishes."

  • "I have been to Patara a number of times and believe it is one of the best Thai restaurants in town. I most recently went to celebrate a birthday with some family and although the food was as always fantastic , the service was extremely slow and we were waiting over an hour for our mains. Our frustration was added to as we saw people who had arrived at the restaurant after us receiving their food before us, after chasing it up with a couple of waiters we received an apology and our main courses arrived. Although frustrated by the slow service, I was impressed by the fact that we then without asking immediately recieved a free round of drinks as an apology for the wait which made me feel our custom was appreciated."

  • "Welcomed and attended to well...the waiter who took the order was to quick to respond, didn't give opportunity to discuss the menu...I had duck as a main which was very nice...partner had prawns which was not to the same quality and cold...we made a complaint and they didn't charge us for the dish without any issue. Overall reasonable experiance...but no major wow factor."

  • "Although we were in a hurry, being in Theatreland they must be used to that scenario Service was too slow Ten minutes to be offered a drink? Food was ok Wife's tom gad kai was tasteless Main courses were good But £130 for what we had was way too much"

  • "I ate in Patara's Soho restaurant on a Monday evening with an old friend. Having visited the sister restaurant just off Regent Street last year, we both had high expectations in terms of the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have to say that this restaurant disappointed on both counts. The service was haphazard (to put it kindly) with orders being forgotten about and mixed up with other tables. The food was OK, but lacked the sparkle of our previous experience. Atmosphere was lacking, maybe due to it being a Monday night, but overall we left feeling distinctly disappointed for the price paid."

  • "Beautiful tasty food again. The slow cooked beef, king prawn Pad Thai and side dish of sugar snap peas were fantastic. Lovely romantic vibe but would also go with a friend or for business. Have only ever been to the Soho restaurant will be trying the others when in the areas. service is always good and so it the waiting time for food. Can get very busy."

  • "The title says it all really. Lovely food; but the service was abysmal. Took about 40 minutes before our drinks order was even taken and about an hour before we actually received any drinks (despite repeatedly being offered other table's orders!). Half the staff don't speak very good english, and you therefore have to repeatedly ask various people for your order before you find someone who understands you. I'd recommend this place for the food and it was also fairly good value; but don't go there if you're in a hurry or really hungry/thirsty as you'll be waiting a while."

  • "Amazing food and cocktails, service was good all the way till the end when we were brought the bill without asking for it."
