A word from Pushkar

Pushkar is a gourmet Indian restaurant that has generated significant buzz and rave reviews from Brummie foodies. Part fine dining room, part cocktail lounge, the space is a cream and lemon affair with starched linens and a cosmopolitan vibe. Perfect for cocktails and platter-sharing, Pushkar also has a sexy a la carte menu and chef Bishal Rasaily – who has worked everywhere from the Taj Sheraton in Mumbai to the acclaimed Chutney Mary's in London - has a flair for creating fresh, modern and healthy dishes. The bar serves everything from bespoke Bellinis to Lassis, and favourite dishes include the Goan fish curry cooked with coriander seeds, chillies and coconut cream.

Service was good and attentive without being in your face and cocktails are good."

  • "Had a lovely Saturday night experience at Pashka, lovely setting, amazing food & a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. My wife is a coeliac so has to eat gluten free which the waiter was very knowledgable about & advised what we could & couldn't have. All round lovely experience not the cheapest but it was a special night so worth it. Does some amazing cocktails too."

  • "We booked a quick lunch at Pushkar and were very impressed by the place - really high-quality Indian food in lovely surroundings. The room felt a little large when we were the only customers, but the food was superb, and the lunch menu represents truly excellent value for quality dining."

  • "We had our meal as a family the lunch menu. We ordered two three courses and two puddings for our kids. The food was good and service. However we were taken back by the fact that we were charged two main meal single course prices for the two ice creams we ordered. We were not told about this when we ordered. Its a shame but this spoiled our meal at puskhars."

  • "Pushkar Indian is amazing. Impeccable food and an Amazing atmosphere. Best Indian food in that city"
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "Chose Pushkar based on reviews as we don't know Birmingham but wanted somewhere special to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Birmingham University. A wonderful experience: the decor is modern and sumptuous; the service was impeccable (Azad was an unparalleled host) and the food was out of this world. The menu is Northern Indian and contains some familiar dishes and some you'll only find in more specialised places: try them, especially the lamb chops as a starter. We mixed the familiar and less familiar and were stunned by the quality, both of the ingredients and of the cooking. Fantastic restaurant and Azad made the evening truly memorable. When in Birmingham, go to Pushkar: you won't regret it. If you're lucky, you'll meet Azad!"

  • "Food was top quality at Pushkar, with little variations on your standard Indian and it tasted superb. Bill came to under £90 for 2, including drinks which was great value for the quality, service and ambience of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Took my partner out for a treat. Location and greeting was fine. We are vegetarian and their is very limited food to offer for us. Once we did order food it was very bland and tasteless. I had 4 bites and was done. We ordered 3 dishes and naan and rice. Very over priced. Come to £65 for 2 of us. We got charged £3.50 for jug of water 'not bottled' they have tried to turn very simple food into something posh but not achieved that. Truly felt robbed"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Been fortunate to eat in some of the best restaurants around the world serving the most exquisite. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. The food, surroundings and service were amazing. Due to commitments and not being able to travel far, came to Birmingham for a couple of days to celebrate our one year anniversary and booked this restaurant from googling. Absolutely made the weekend. Felt we really dined somewhere special."

  • "We went to Pushkars on the off chance and were not disappointed. The quality of the food was excellent and the staff were very hospitable and welcoming. Definitely try a cocktail as well, as they have a varied selection. Whilst it is more pricey than your standard curry house, the quality of the food was well matched and is a great place to go for a special occasion or birthday."

  • "This was our second visit to Pushkar from Bristol. We loved it so much the first time we wanted to have the same experience again. We were not disappointed. The ambience, food and welcome was second to none. We were looked after all evening by our waiter Huni. The place was buzzing but the service did not suffer. The waiters were all dresses in suits and waitresses smart . We had the lamb chops and scallops for starters which was beautifully presented and delicious . Our main course was generous in portions. You will not go away hungry. Can't wait to go again."

  • "Despite our need to rush as we only had an hour between acts at the symphony hall, the service was extremely friendly and efficient and relaxed. The food was amazing - delicate flavours, some dishes we didn't know and generous portions. Excellent coffee."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Needing to order and eat a meal in 45 minutes was the challenge to which Pushkar's staff rose absolutely magnificently. Within a very few minutes they were serving us our drinks, excellent poppadums and chutneys. Our starters were then served - grilled scallops haryali (particularly delicious); spinach and prune cakes. Our mains were served as promptly - awadhi gosht korma and paneer kadai, with pulao rice and Peshawari naan; all delicious. We enjoyed excellent food, ambiance and, above all, service of impeccable excellence. We finished with plenty of time left to return to the hall, well satisfied, very impressed and very grateful. We will definitely return to Pushkar"

  • "Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming staff who were friendly, polite and very efficient. Showed interest in their customers. We had booked for my daughters 19th birthday and the service provided by Rocky was exceptional. Rocky made the meal special for my daughter which was a lovely."
    dined on 12/06/2014
  • "Booked for for our wedding anniversary and was not disappointed, the food and service were excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the evening. My only minor point is that it is advertised as a cocktail bar but there is limited seating/standing room at the bar due to the fact directly in front of that bar there are dining tables. This said it will not stop me from going agin albeit for special occasions only as it can be expensive."
    dined on 10/06/2014
  • "The food and service was sublime. We had a cocktail each which was very good and the pricing overall was relatively low versus the service received. Would recommend Pushkar to family and friends following this experience."

Thank you so much"

  • "We booked a table for a pre-concert meal and were delighted with our choice. Azad (Maitre D') explained the differences with their cuisine (North Indian) and the typical fayre found at most Indian restaurants, when he gave showed us our menus. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent, even asking how long we wanted to take between courses. We paid £54 + tip (only sparkling water to drink). Whilst this may sound like a lot for two people, we thought it was good value. It's a lovely place for a special occasion."
