A word from L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon
L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon restaurant in London’s West Street near Covent Garden is one hot dining experience. From the stable of Joel Robuchon, holder of 26 Michelin stars, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon brings stunning Spanish and Japanese-inflected French cooking to the capital. The ground floor L’Atelier, chic red and black minimalism, is where you perch on high stools and admire the chefs in the theatre kitchen cooking tiny, beautiful dishes of intense flavour, served sushi-style. The first floor La Cuisine offers equally marvellous cooking in a bright, monochrome space with traditional seating. Dishes include divine pig trotter on parmesan toast, mini burger with beef and foie gras, mackerel on thin tart with Parmesan shavings and olives, and magical puddings like chartreuse soufflé. The wines are of the highest order, as is the service. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon is celeb central and foodie heaven all in one terrific West End location. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful food, impeccable service and attention to detail, lovely (if dark) environment and upstairs terrace - a great choice for a celebratory lunch, though without the prix fixe would likely be very costly!"
    dined on 27/07/2014
  • "Place is amazing and we had the best culinary experience ever."
    dined on 24/07/2014
  • "Always a risk in choosing where to eat from overseas based on the internet, but this place did not meet our value for the money criteria."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Pre-theatre menu TT very good value; tasty food, well presented and oven-hot where appropriate, with lovely amuse-bouche and breads. Wine list could do with 2/3 in £20-25 range at which point it would be exceptional value and experience."
    dined on 23/07/2014
  • "Unfortunately we were not very lucky with the pre theatre menu. Starter: Sauteed baby squid salad: very oily, Main: suckling pig: incredibly salty, Dessert: chocolate something: very sweet and heavy. All the food was just not very well balanced. Too oily, too salty, too sweet-not what one would expect from a fine dining restaurant. We had the feeling there were just chefs in training in the kitchen who clearly haven't learnt how to balance flavours. The wine by the glass is totally overpriced. They add 13% service-never seen before in London. We are into fine dining and have been to wonderful restaurants but we have never had such a disappointing experience. No idea what went wrong but as there were just 4 other guests it speaks for itself."

  • "The food was great and varied--though the portions tend to be very small. Lovely space though the counter seating (I was on the ground floor) seemed a little cramped for some couples who were sitting close by. I had a corner so had a bit more room. Delicious wine pairings but again very small pours. Overall worth the large bill--especially for the very high quality of the ingredients and the exceptional flavors."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Absolutely loved it, once we got past the receptionists, who were not friendly and would not let us go to the table unless we agreed to the A La carte menu, instead of the Open Table offer, since we were exactly 15 minutes late - could not find any parking. thereafter, excellent service, outstanding food and no complaints whatsoever. Will definitely visit again, soon!"

  • "Superb set menu.. every choice was something I wanted to eat. Coupled with good, friendly service it made for a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We'll be back soon"
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "A delicious pre-theatre dinner. Just a shame we couldn't have spent longer to really longer and enjoy the food. The menu has so much, probably too much, that we couldn't decide. So we just left the entire meal selection th them. Same for the wine. It was amazing. And probably better than had we chosen each course ourselves!"
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We thought the food was great and the staff were some of the best in a restaurant of this type - helpful, not condescending, attentive but not in your face, really seemed to enjoy their job. The sommelier's wine choices were interesting and really enjoyable - and well-explained if requested."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "I had visited in 2011 and found the restaurant to be outstanding with impeccable service. I had the opportunity to come back and bring the family for a special occasion however left a little disappointed. The food is still amazing but most frustrating issue was the drop in service, which is what makes the place so special. We had ordered our meal with pairing wines, and for the main course we were all given white when one of the party had ordered beef. The Sommelier did not recognise this error until it was highlighted to them by us. In addition one main course was served several minutes later than the rest which left the other food getting cold. Small details make big differences especially in such a high level establishment."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "This is a very expensive restaurant but it is also very good. I enjoyed the experience but the prices are a bit over the top."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Very friendly staff and the meal was very enjoyable, especially the beef skirt and the best mashed potatoes in the world! Will definitely come back again."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Wonderful flavours, perfect presentation and optimum portion size. The amuse bouche was a multilayered delight of distinct flavours, the poached egg perfectly cooked, as was the salmon. The mash was the most sinful side order ever eaten. Puds (normally my favourite) were great but not a patch on the savoury courses."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Excellent food and friendly and efficient service."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "We booked for the Open Table £31 set menu. This was good - but worth noting that you have to order this by 6:15 pm. The menu we were offered was good, however, the menu choices on the Open Table website for this offer looked much better. Perhaps this had been a previous set menu. All in all, a good evening and the set menu is good value."
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "I love this restaurant. The decor is dramatic, the food is beautifully presented and delicious and the service is excellent. The special offer of 3 courses for £31 is great value for food of this standard. As is to be expected with a such a high class restaurant the wine is expensive but we really enjoyed the bottle we had. This is a good place for a pre-theatre meal. The waiter asked us if we were going to the theatre and we were served well before the time we said we had to leave."
    dined on 14/07/2014
  • "Great pre-theatre meal in an unusual, stylish setting. Friendly staff, though service a little inconsistent. Good food. Open table exclusive menu slightly different to what was shown online."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "superb meal. great sevice. lovely atmosphere and ambience"
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "this is definitely London's best restaurant, superb food , best value for money, everytime we come here we're over the moon. We visited a lot of star rated restaurants in London but a lot of them doesn't even deserve a star or a high rating but this one is is by far the very best. This is not eating it is degustation, I can't praise this place enough. The ultimate dining experience for people who really want value for money ! Book it folks!"
    dined on 09/07/2014
  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good value set menu and delicious food with lots of extras. Being able to view the work going on in the kitchen added extra entertainment!"
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "I booked the lunch offer for 2 after reading good reviews. First, the service felt rushed and the menu was actually a lot different from the one that is presented on opentable. E.g. no pork belly etc. I was recommended the poached egg for entree and beef for main. The poached egg tasted like a larger version of the Amuse Bouche while the beef was too chewy. We also had the cod, but it was too salty. We provided feedback to the waiter after the meal since we felt that it would be too rude to send the dishes back. I was really looking forward to enjoying this restaurant, given that it's a 2 Michelin star restaurant (and I have been to many 1/2/3 michelin starred restaurants), I was sadly left feeling disappointed in the food and service."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "The 3 courses for £31 offer is excellent value. Food very, very nice. Limited menu though and you don't get to sample any of the standout pieces but would go again never the less. Service a bit too pushy and very hurried (one server cleared started and the main course was put straight down by another). Otherwise good though. Bit of a dark setting."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "Ample staff and service was very thorough from the moment you stepped through the door. The seating in the L'Atelier on the ground floor is on bar stools (didn't realise when booking) - they have foot rests (as do the tables/bar) but the stools are not very deep or high-backed. However, the lady who showed us to our table did offer me a cushion for my back. Water glasses were refilled regularly. Bread, amuse bouche and all 3 courses arrived promptly (they requested all courses - £31 offer - were ordered at the start, plus asking if we needed to leave by a certain time), so all very efficient for a pre-theatre meal. Food was delicious and beautifully/delicately presented."

  • "Everytime it is a fantastic experience to eat at Robuchon. We tried the one in Paris, Vegas and Londo and every restaurent is fantastic, the same precision in the plates, the same balanced in every dish. Very expensive (200 pounds + per person) but for a special occasion.. why not!"
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "We booked a 3 course deal for 2 people on open-table. The food was excellent value, especially as it allowed you to have food such as lobster included in the menu. The service was excellent and the wine was kept topped up. The only thing that could have improved our lunch was a different choice of table as we were right at the front in the corner and considering we booked this so far in advance we thought we'd have a nicer table."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Didn't have any of the issues other diners mentioned with honouring the Opentable deal. Great choice of menu. Particularly enjoyed to lobster pasta. Fantastic deal at £31 so will be back again soon."
    dined on 29/06/2014
  • "Food and service were excellent. However, the dining chairs were padded bar stools with low backs. They were not comfortable."
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "A fabulous lunch, flavours all there. The spit chicken a tad dry, but it didn't detract from an overall excellent experience. Desserts - OMmmmmG!"
    dined on 28/06/2014
  • "My party had a wonderful lunch here Friday. The food was exquisite and the service polite, attentive and friendly. My party thoroughly enjoyed it and I have already recommended the restaurant to several people."
    dined on 27/06/2014
  • "Great selection for an offer, we dined on some delicious food and were attended to by friendly professional waiters. Beef skirt was the stand out dish. I would highly recommend L'Atelier."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "I'd eaten at L'Atelier before and would go back again. The service is so friendly without being "too much" and the food is delicious and interesting."
    dined on 26/06/2014
  • "Amazing cuisine, food cooked to perfection, the service was perfect and the restaurant very nice. Highly recommended !"
    dined on 23/06/2014
  • "Outstanding in every way. We dined there a second night in La Cuisine and will return at the next opportunity."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "Opentable exclusive; once there, had more courses, wine pairing. Rooftop pleasant, as were staff. Issue is with dining service. We were sat at sushi bar type seating. There were empty tables but I had open mind. You face directly into kitchen: frenetic sight, did not at all lead to relaxed dining. Main server conveyed hospitality but two other servers - food and (I hesitate) "sommelier" - were rushed, making me feel like I wasn't all that welcome after all. Especially wine server: He rushed throughout and three-quarters of way through meal, poured next wine with current glasses half full. He looked annoyed when I remarked; they asked if they should slow down. You have to ask? Opted to not engage manager. Might return but insist on table."
    dined on 22/06/2014
  • "But the £31 for 3 courses was not honoured as advertised, we had to pay the normal price of £36"
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "One of the worst dining experiences ever - this restaurant did not have the air condinioning working, so 10 minutes into our dinner it became clear that what was supposed to be a pleasant meal turned into an excrutiating time. What we expect from what we think to be civilized restaurants is that the information about a malfunctioning air conditioning is given beforehands to patrons, so the ultimate decision to get in is theirs. My wife and I were not able to finish our dinner."
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Food and services were both excellent - really good value for such a highly rated resturant"
    dined on 21/06/2014
  • "Our entire experience was outstanding. From the greeting at the door until the moment we left we were truly impressed. The service was friendly, welcoming informative and caring. The food was excellent, wonderful flavours and textures and so pleasing to the eye it was so difficult to make choices. I do believe that whatever we had chosen we could not have made any errors. .It rated amongst the five best meals I have ever enjoyed and cannot wait for an excuse to eat there again!"
    dined on 19/06/2014
  • "I attended a set lunch session during the week at the restaurant. The staff were amazing and very attentive. The food was delicious, and we were able to sit at the bar and watch the chefs at work! The set lunch is also great value, and we received some amuse bouche also! All in all, a great experience. Would recommend!"
