  • "I really enjoyed my dinner at Roast. Food was fantastic, service was good (although did have to wait for a while for our table to be ready) and value was OK. Not bad considering all we had. Went for a business dinner but would definitely go back for a social occasion."

  • "Booked the TT special, 1 guest went A La Carte. Service was excellent, restaurant cool on a very hot day. Menu is fun & meaty, great cocktail to kick off followed by some superb comfort food, ribs were raved over & the roast pork belly a delight! A shared desert finished off a 3hr+ entertaining meal. 2nd visit will go again"

  • "We visited Roast last summer for my husband's birthday and were very impressed with the food, the service and the overall ambience. We visited Roast again earlier this week and were very impressed with the food and the service. The selection of vegetarian food was good and the team at Roast helped to create a memorable evening."

  • "Everything about our visit to you was fantastic but I would particularly like to mention the staff and service. We are not high powered business men as most of your cliental appeared to be, we are just 2 familys who love a dining experience and are happy to pay a bit more for it on special occasions. Even so we were treated with respect from your staff and the service was second to none. This was from the moment we were greeted, the bar staff, the waiters and the supervisor. Oh and the food was great also! Many thanks"

  • "It was as oasis of coolness on one of the hottest days of the year! It was right for my meeting, as it offered enough privacy for our conversations. The Champagne was excellent by the glass, so much so that I had two! However, I did think that the main meal (crab salad with samphire) was a little lack lustre. There was shell in the crab element and the dish was rather simplified. I don't think it represented value for money. That said, it did the job for us as the food was not the main attraction and I would go again and I would recommend it to friends."

  • "Menu is great - lovely produce from the market. Makes the difference."
    dined on 22/07/2014
  • "Service was not as good as my last visit - seemed to be surly, but the table location was great with a view of the dome of St Paul's and the bars/restaurants that surround Borough Market. Took the Porterhouse steak which was delicious, but instead of the onion rings that came with it, opted for Yorkshire Pudding and roast potatoes. Good choices, but thought the roasts might have been frozen ones and could have been warmer. Shared starter and pudding and a great wine. All in all OK, but not special now. The whole service felt rushed, with plates attempted to be moved before completed. Very reduced service charge given."
    dined on 21/07/2014
  • "After reading all the great reviews we were looking forward to our Roast we'd booked to go on a Sunday which is a set menu @ £35 per head. Absolutely not worth the money, average beef of which there was a supplement, cold side dishes and chewy roast potatoes. The best bit about our visit was the service which was impeccable."
    dined on 20/07/2014
  • "Can't believe how long it has taken me to eat at Roast. Set Above the wonderful Borough Market - The Roast Chefs obviously have an array of fresh produce at the disposal. And don't they use it well! I had Oysters to start with which slipped down like a dream and then I had the Beef Wellington with the Roasties and various vegetables - simply the best Beef Wellington I have ever tasted. With an Excellent Shiraz to wash down the meal with followed by an Excellent espresso - Bill for 2 came to £126 - Great for Client Entertaining, Special Occasion or simply to treat yourself."

  • "A highly accomplished meal, but lacked the wow factor you would expect for the price. Service was also a bit dilatory."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "I chose this restaurant as a surprise. It was early Saturday evening, and having asked for a window seat we were given a great viewpoint out to the street. Can't complain about the service or ambience at all. In fairness, my food, the Wellington special especially was stunning. Starter of Courgette flower was very nice also. Only downside was that my wife had the boiled brisket. She didn't enjoy it, but there wasn't necessarily anything wrong with it, just a bad choice. Would happily go back again. It's not the cheapest place in the world but it's certainly not the dearest either. They also produced a nice birthday sorbet for my wife. I can think of a lot worse places to spend an evening! Duty manager was very helpful."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "Having received a warm welcome at the host desk, we had a drink at the bar until the restaurant fully opened. Once escorted to our table, before being welcomed to our seats or receiving the menu we were told about the 2 hour turn around on the table. The waiter assigned to our table looked and behaved like he wanted to anywhere else apart from looking after us. The starter arrived within about 5 minutes of ordering, they were acceptable. The Maitre d' visited every table in our section apart from us, we couldn't even get any attention when we wanted to pay. The food was very average, the delicately spiced tandoori lobster was covered in a Coronation style mayonnaise, killing the delicate flavour. Service was bland and non attentive."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "It's been about 9 months since I have been to Roast for breakfast and it's still a win. There is more selection than before but the "full borough" is still king. Wont leave it as long next time."
    dined on 19/07/2014
  • "We went here for a birthday celebration and had a lovely time. The service was impeccable and it had a lovely ambiance and environment. The wine menu is extensive if not a bit pricey and the menu has excellent choices for carnivores with all the suppliers of their meat listed which I really appreciated. Not such great food for vegetarians that don't eat cheese or have a lot of dairy, but had a small salad available. Overall a lovely place to go and the team did a special birthday dessert for my partner which was very lovely. On the pricey side so best saved for an occasion."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "Had brunch with my son and had asked for anice table with a view - which we got. Service excellent full Scottish and full English breakfasts were superb and set us up for a fell day at Kew gardens. Definitely will be back again and would recommend."
    dined on 18/07/2014
  • "Asked for and received a window table, was late arriving but guests were well looked after, the service, food and wine were very good. Overall an excellent dining experience and one I will do again at Roast."
    dined on 16/07/2014
  • "Love Roast, yet another terrific meal. Took clients who were very impressed, but have taken family too. Formal enough but not too much, quite relaxed, light, great location, and fantastic food. Brilliant"
    dined on 15/07/2014
  • "When arriving a Roast you can immediately tell its going to be more than a regular Sunday Lunch. The restaurant is very upmarket. We went last sitting on a Sunday and despite being attended to by 3 waiters, the wine was forgotten with the dessert course, by the time we saw a waiter again we just cancelled the wine order. The food itself was really nice, seems great value at first £35.00 for a 3 course meal per head, however beef is not included in this option and drinks are minimum £10 each. For 3 of us the bill came to £150.00 which is excessive in my view for Sunday Lunch."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "I booked this restaurant for a late lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday and we couldn't have chosen better! On arrival we had drinks at the bar and they had a musician playing softly in the background. We had the set menu sunday lunch - we both had the beef and it was delicious. My husband followed his with cheese and biscuits and they presented it on a beautifully decorated plate and candle - all very discretely done! Thank you for such great service"
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "We were a party of 5 for Sunday lunch. The fixed price menu was attractive and the food was truly delicious and generous. However the drinks menu was full of excellent but massingly expensive choices. We settled for a bottle of white and a carafe of the house red and this with 1 wine dessert amounted to roughly 40% of the total bill. I am afraid that we will only have to reserve this for special occasions."

  • "Roast is a great proposition - the humble roast dinner served in a glorious dining room. The food is superb - a perfect introduction to all that's great about British cuisine. What a shame then, that your experience as a diner does not live up to the food. On my recent trip, I was asked to reconfirm my online booking via an 0845 number, which from a mobile can cost up to 25p per minute. Calling this number puts you through to a switchboard and then dials another number, keeping you on the line and costing you money. Service in the restaurant is not what you expect for a restaurant that automatically adds 12.5% service to the bill - spillage, inattention, coffee arriving at the wrong time. Must do better."
    dined on 13/07/2014
  • "Service was second to none. Food was amazing! Very clean. Our first visit but made to feel as if we had been dining there for years! Reasonably priced too considering the high standard. We can't wait to return to try the Sunday menu!"
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "The dinner started well with good first courses. the sardines were fine, as was the fresh tomato soup and the pork. Two of us ordered the ribs for the main course and this is where the problems started. The ribs were extremely dry, chewy and tough, with very little sauce. We sent them back and got fresh plates of food, but no improvement to the ribs. The additional sauce was watery and greasy. Very disappointing. Someone from another table also complained about the ribs. The other main courses were good. The desserts were also delicious with a generous portion of cheese. Overall service was excellent and they did reduce our bill, but it did spoil the evening."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "My second visit to Roast for brunch was every bit as good as the first. The food is wonderful and the service very good. The location above Borough Market makes for good views on a Saturday morning when the market is in full swing."
    dined on 12/07/2014
  • "Menu felt a bit limited, there was a limited choice of starters but a better selection of main courses. Food wise both the pork belly and salt beef brisket were excellent. Only really complaint was the back ground noise and music was overly loud which made conversation difficult. Service was prompt and polite."
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "The food is fantastic - a appropriate modern twist on British seasonal for, the wine list is extensive. I defy anyone to find it almost impossible to decide which of the wonderful dishes to choice. The service is great as well. And the cocktails are wicked!"
    dined on 11/07/2014
  • "Nice presentation and food was superb. Unfortunately drunk diner became slightly annoying continuously complimenting and interrupting us and coming over to our table."
    dined on 10/07/2014
  • "Roast can be relied on to serve first class ingredients with a bit of British flair. It's a bit pricey for what's on offer but it's never let me down yet. Chorizo croquettes were fine but could have been a little crispier, but the rabbit and snail pie - delicious and to finish, can't beat rhubarb and apple crumble with proper custard."
    dined on 08/07/2014
  • "I had breakfast with two friends and it was one of the best breakfasts I've had in London large portions and great ingredients . We also had three different types of bloody Mary which were all nice. But I would recommend the classic. The service was very good and I recommend that others give it a try."
    dined on 07/07/2014
  • "We came for a family Sunday lunch to celebrate an anniversary. We had eaten here before and hoped for another good experience. Food, service and welcome were all fine, but there was live music at the bar. The musicians and singer sounded very professional, but that's not why we came. The family were unable to chat and catch up at this special and rare occasion when we could all be together. Waiters were unable to hear our orders; the Maitre D asked whether the music was too loud and he went to speak with the band. We did not notice even a momentary reduction in volume though."
    dined on 06/07/2014
  • "Good dinner with great food. The environment is a bit a loud but good for socialising with friends"
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "Had the full breakfast and it was superb. Definitely recommend visiting Roast if near the area. The waiters did have logistics issues as they brought the wrong orders over initially but it all got sorted out. They were quite apologetic so it wasn't a problem. Quite pricey though—three breakfasts almost cost £80!"
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "This was our first stop on a Hen day and what a start. The views were wonderful and the atmosphere welcoming and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, I had the veggie borough which was quite possibly the best breakfast I have had but rather filling as I could only manage half (I am not a big eater in the mornings). Everyone complemented the food and we left full and satisfied. The price may be a touch on the high side but in my opinion it was well worth it for a special treat and I cannot wait to come back."
    dined on 05/07/2014
  • "I'm very picky in quality and can't accept being charged for rubbish or something not upto standards in food, service or decor. This restaurant has since become a favourite and I now eat often. Every time I have been satisfied immencly. No it's not cheap but if your some I g money you will get your worth by far. Perfect gaff for me. My other best restaurant is Hawkesmore. These two are pretty on par."
    dined on 04/07/2014
  • "Great service and value for an early evening meal, which was an offer of three courses for £30. They were good sized portions too. My fish was huge and beautifully cooked. I have rated the food 4 stars instead of 5 because my companion and I both felt we would rather have had less meat/ fish on the plate and more vegetables. Indeed we neded to order a side dish of vegetables , and my companion could not eat all her meat, as there as so much! Good range of wines by the glass, and attentive staff."
